Sanwa is truly a unique Tampa gem. This specialty grocery store is sure to have those hard to find ingredients for your favorite exotic dishes. Their produce section has a wide variety of fairly priced goods and their 1.99 potted herb plants are the best deal in town. Just make sure you're checking for a healthy plant! Their meat section is incomparable to your favorite corporate grocery store. They feature some local meats as well. Lastly, their bulk offerings of glass bottled sodas is sure to make you double take lol

Truly a great place to get fresh veggies and other items in bulk with great quality. We originally planned to go to an Indian store afterwards to get tea time snacks, but Sanwa already had the Indian tea time snacks! I was also amazed to find so many varieties of Indomie noodles. It can get a bit crowded. Everything is very reasonably priced.

I shopped here for years , It's a big food farmer's market in 3 section. I buy veggies fruits & many varieties of frozen fish here a reasonable price also blue crabs. A vast selection of meats chicken, beef steaks,roast, pork . Economical buck packages for less money . An array of ethics foods . Buck utensils & containers for restaurants or just serving a large crowd . Customer service is the tops , a humongous clean place to shop .

What a unique find, you'll be happy you went in! Picnic pork, lamb, goat, whole piglet, beef, ribs, quail, Turkey, Cornish hens, the even have deli meats and cheeses! Paper and aluminum products, along with a huge variety. Huge variety on the fresh veggies &fruits, and the milk and dairy area when you first walk in. Enjoy!

If I'm up in the area I will always stop at Sanwa. I usually have very specific products that I'm looking for. They have a great produce section. I imagine their meat and seafood section is good as well. I'm vegetarian so I don't look for that sort of thing.

Best place to buy fruits and vegetables. Two different types of pears today are $0.49 per pound. They also sell pink (red) lentils here, the ones that dissolve quickly and are good for soup. You could buy them from whole foods, but they're more expensive there.

Sanwa is a local gem!! Produce is always fresh with an excellent selection of traditional "grocery store" items as well as more exotic and ethnic cuisines. I can get my apples & my grapes at the same time I get my Buddha's hand & dragon fruit. I know the zucchini is excellent quality, and my baby bok choy is fresh. I can select a wide variety of root vegetables, including purple yam and yuca which are in excellent condition. There's a rainbow assortment of tomatoes as well as peppers... And the pepper heat goes from very mild to ghosts. And I haven't even started on their meat or seafood departments! They have a drool-worthy selection. Their foods are restaurant-quality, because restaurants actually shop here! If I want to buy a little for a family, or I want to stock my freezer I'm in good company. The staff are extremely helpful, and customer are friendly.

Great place for vegans and people who have their own special diet. They have a few international foods. You can also buy a lot of food in bulk so it's great if you have a family or a deep freezer. They take food stamps and also sell stuff if you are a vendor. I got a week's worth of groceries for 36 dollars.

Nice fresh vegetables. Cheap meat. If you want heavy discounts, be ready to buy crates or in bulk. Individual items are more or less similar priced as Walmart/similar groceries. Regardless, the variety of items under one roof is always very helpful. Just bring along a jacket as it gets pretty cold inside.

This place is amazingly stocked with all kinds of ethnic food items. I have never before seen such a great assortment of items. They have dry goods, meats and seafoods, and an even more amazing assortment of produce. Wether you want to buy one package, a whole box or a pallet of goods, they can accommodate. Be advised that the dry goods area is not air conditioned, and can a bit warm. But as soon as you go through the plastic separators into the produce and meats areas it is chilled to below 70 degrees. Try this place you won't be disappointed.

Love this place. You can get produces for wholesale price or you can buy single items at retail price. Price are still competitive to other grocery stores. There were some selection for organic produce which was nice. They are always busy and they added more check out lines which really help speed up the process. It's turning more and more into a actual grocery store compared to many years ago when they were mostly doing wholesale. Great place I'd you happen to live nearby. We travel from St. Pete to get here. Takes us an hour drive roughly but it is always worth the trip!!

To the garbage! Why do you still let some bad products at the store especially when it comes to watermelon how customer would know weather it’s good or bad! And the worst is when it’s harmful to our health because it’s FOOD that we consume!!! Never ever I’d shop from this store or any Sanwa again.

Its THE place for produce from all over the world! I go there every 2 weeks. The produce is super fresh. They recently added a middle eastern section with spices etc and even fresh pita bread. Wear a jacket when you walk through the giant walk-in cooler.

A great place to pick up unique fruits and vegetables at great prices. Their meat room is always fully stocked and has everything you could want! They have more varieties of mushrooms then all local grocery stores combined! Huge selection of frozen fish! Lots of Mediterranean and Asian Delicacies. This place is better than any meat market or grocery store that you can go to. It's great for people who just have 2 people in the family or whether they have 7, there is a great amount for everyone to choose from whether they want bulk or individual. They have everything that you could ever want in some stores, all in one! Definitely my go to spot for a big party or if I'm just trying to stock for the week. Vegetables seem to be immortal. They last forever. Overall prices fair, but store doesn't carry everything a regular grocery store does. Fish are all frozen, for example. Worth the trip if you love quality veggies.

Great place for bulk produce and some dry goods. Nice prices on bulk rice, beans, etc. Seems designed for restaurants, but we buy for our family. 50lb paper bags of potatoes for a great price. Huge bags of salad mix (our kids eat a salad at least once a day) and baby spinach for just a few dollars. We even bought a whole case of egg flats once. Great place for some exotic fruits, as well.

I used be able to buy a slab of pork belly for about $22.00 and the Uncle John's Sausage was cheaper, as well as seafood.

I make my own pet food and Sanwa market sells the freshest and most economical meat that I need! Lots of meats to choose from including seafood. They also carry a variety of fruits and vegetables that you can buy in smaller/regular sizes or in bulk. They also carry a variety of beverages, condiments and dairy. However, the best best thing about Sanwa market is the service! The guys at the meat counter, at the registers and the guys outside always offer to help and willingly will load your vehicle. I have always had a great shopping experience here!

I've been shopping at Sanwa since 2007. Mostly I stick to buying produce -- the prices are great. Over the years, of course, the prices have gone up. The owner also has sunk a lot of money back into the place. It's gone from a bare-bones set up to having nice stairs, paved parking, shopping carts, bags (you had to find an empty box to pack up your groceries) and many other amenities. This of course has added to the price of everything. Still, it's well run, the cashiers are friendly and helpful, so are the people who work on the floor. If you ask for something, they'll go and see if they have it. Prices pretty much rise and fall as the overall prices in the country, but most produce is at a discounted price. I don't buy much beyond the produce, so I can't speak to the frozen meats or seafood or other areas. The only complaint I would have is there is a tendency to sell food that is a bit past the prime. I no longer buy mushrooms there. Otherwise I recommend this especially for people who have large families to feed.

If you are into buying fresh fruits and vegetables at low or reasonable price, I highly recommend this place. ONly downside of this place is price fluctuates based on a market price, but it is much better than buying at regular grocery stores. They do also have different variety of international food products at the reasonable price. You can take extra advantage of their weekly sale on a selected items.

Staff was friendly. I can only give three stars as this market markets mainly to smaller food chains and eateries. The average household is not going to use a case of plastic forks. But the small businesses should definitely give the place a visit. There might be done good deals.

A large place that sells farmers produce, if you are buying something in bulk, this is the place to go. The pricing is reasonable and cheaper compared to other retail stores. We had been there to buy tomatoes and onions in bulk and they came $2 cheaper.

I like shopping here. The prices are generally cheaper than most Asian grocery stores; but the choices are not as complete/varied. Parking is horrible, especially on Saturday/Sunday [mornings] and/or holidays. Make sure you check ALL your items before you leave the store. There had been more than one occasion when the bagger missed putting an item in my bag. If you shop at Publix, this almost never happens.
