This is my go-to place for all my oriental cuisine needs. Want to make mochi? MD Oriental Market has the stuff. Want to buy loads of tofu? They've got it. Want more noodles than you could hope to eat in a lifetime? You've come to the right place. From trying out new snacks and sweets to finding ingredients for tried-and-true recipes, I always know that this is the place to go. Sometimes finding items is a little tricky but with patience and determination you'll find what you were looking for, and often more. The cashiers are polite, the store is always clean, and it's generally a good place to go shopping. They have themselves one more loyal customer.

The store is clean and spacious. The customer service is good for the most part. However, one cashier named Mimi(#118) was rather rude and seemed to like to run her mouth about the customer in Chinese in their presence. Your job is to collect money and check people out, not a wannabe character critic!

As a family we LOVE this MD market. Of all of the Asian markets we have been to in the Tampa Bay Area this one is the largest and cleanest of them all. The aisles are not cramped and the store is easy to navigate. They have a great selection of sake, fresh fish, meats, groceries, ramen, teas, candies, snacks, ramune, sauces, spices, and marinades. They also offer great prepared foods that you can eat on site in their cafe seating.

This Oriental Market has it all. I love going here. They have fresh seafood, fresh meats, fresh fruits & vegetables, already cooked and prepared Chinese foods such as duck, noodles, etc. They have everything Oriental and in-between. The staff are always kind, helpful, and very informative. I love going here for their wide variety of teas. Check this place out and give it a chance. I'm glad I did and I tell everyone I know to stop in and check it out as well. The prices on their goods are priced very good. Totally check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Only place in town to sell certain Asian groceries, so I keep going for these staples. But I am constantly disappointed and disgusted by bad purchases - at least once per trip something ends up being expired or stale (not all foods have dates on them) or is growing mold under the packaging. Produce is usually fine, a lot of meats are frozen so it's hard to tell what's fresh. I won't touch the fish - the entire seafood section has a strong smell and the tanks are crowded and never clean.

My wife and I walked in just to kill time and check the place out... They had a lot of fresh ready to eat hot food... A bakery... A seafood section.... Place was huge and had a lot of great looking stuff including a lot of the herbal oils and medicines. Next time I'll have to get someone who works there to take me down each aisle and explain to me the different foods. We Loved it.

Maybe you are giving them many stars because you don’t know what is going on with the live fish, crabs, eels, lobsters, etc that they sell. It is sooo cruel that I can not believe it! THEY DO NOT FEED THEM AT ALL! They admitted that, and I even talked to the manager of the store, and yes, he admitted that. Probably they do that so the water is cleaner if they do not eat and poop. How can they be so cruel? You see all those poor animals trying to get food at the bottom of the tanks, waiting for food that will never come, it is so sad... There are also some dead and sick animals inside the tanks together with the alive ones. I took pictures, so I can prove that. Besides the animal cruelty is also the unsafe part of having a dead animal in the same water of the live ones, creating bacteria that we will eat. Make me sick, and of course, I will place a complaint to the Department of Agriculture and or course, to PETA and other animal welfare organizations. Somebody has to do something. Go there and check it out, and complain to the manager about not feeding the animals, the more we rare, the strongest will be. I give them one star because the system does not allow Zero stars. Everything Asian / Pacific Islands! MD Oriental occupies a building that used to be a Publix so that gives you an idea of it's size. When you walk in and head left you will see a seating area where you can enjoy some of the prepared foods including roast duck and pork, dim sum, really good sushi, and a cafeteria line of Asian food. You can also ordered carryout which seems to be popular with Asian shoppers. Continue down the left aisle and you will find tanks filled with seafood still swimming (note: they will clean fish for you). The butchery selection is extensive and includes cuts that you will not find in other stores. Their prices are also more reasonable than mainstream markets. Their non-food section has everything from brooms to shoes to dishes and a great array of cookware. I've traveled Asia and MD Oriental reminds me of markets in China and Thailand. Except it's all in one place. Want rice, noodles, frozen dim sum, condiments, tofu, sweets? Yep, they've got it all and then some. The only thing I'm not impressed with is the vegetable section which is unusual for an Asian grocery. In comparison to other stores like Sprouts, I find their vegetables overpriced and often not fresh. I rarely buy vegetables from MD Oriental. This is a place for "Foodies." If you are going to shop here, I suggest you set aside an hour or two for your first visit. Even then, it will take you several trips to discover all the wonderful and delightful things that MD offers.

This is a huge Asian market that used to be a Publix grocery store. Tons of stuff here, even live fish tanks. I go here to stock up on spicy stuff for my cooking. Huge selection and nice produce too. Want some fresh Thai peppers? They have them. Also lots of different mushrooms than you can find at a regular grocery store. My wife and I go together and just wander around looking for new stuff to try (we're not asian so a lot of the items are not known to us).

This is a great place for shopping for any Asian style cuisine if you want to make it at home or if you want to have hot meal ready to go they do have fresh prepared food here also. There is also a seafood and deli department and the seafood is extremely fresh as the fish Lobster mussels and clams are all fresh in their own water ready for you to pick them out. There are so many Asian style ingredients here to choose from such as different types of Rice's also different noodles fresh and dried and they even have an extensive produce department that has exotic fruits and vegetables from around southeast Asia as well as some that you already know here in America!

This place is massive. I come here to purchase exotic foods and snacks that are typically only available at specialty online stores. The hot bar is nice for a quick lunch before the shopping and the selection of goods and food is huge. I always leave with a few extra new items to try out (that weren’t on the shopping list, haha)

A great Asian supermarket that has fresh fruit vegetables as well as Frozen Good's. They sell just about everything including live fish lobsters crabs. The place is full of energy and healthy people well-lit and clean. They could probably use a few more people at the cash register early in the day though. So if you need a job maybe you should apply.. it would be a nice place to work especially if they give discounts. The prices are right I have never gotten anything bad there. The Hidden Gem is in the Showcase as soon as you walk in on the right they have essential oils that are fantastic including China oil and zeng ju shu. I'm not sure if that's how you spell it but it is a great liniment that works great on sore hands and feet. It stains.. make sure you put a plastic bag around your feet or hands when using it. It could dry out your skin so make sure you don't leave it on too long with the plastic bag no longer than 1 hour. They also sell other things for your kidney liver cleanse etc etc. Ask questions the staff will be happy to answer them for you. Just find somebody that speaks English first.

The selection here is staggering, whatever you are looking for, it's likely available. The hot bar near the entrance has some of the best eggplant I've ever had. The hot and sour soup is my favorite i found anywhere in the area. The bakery has a large selection of filled breads for a modest price. The sushi bar does fantastic work with their poke salad and eel sushi. Large selection of fresh produce and spoiled for choice in rice and noodle options.freezer section has all the dim sum options I could want. The Kim Chee is also delicious. Finally, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always able to point me towards what I'm looking for. This is one of my favorite stops for groceries as I can always find something exciting to try. The prices are in line with the quality ingredients, this is the only place I will buy pork belly. Lovely place that one can easily spend an hour exploring in.

Huge grocery store sized Asian market. Excellent, well-priced produce, and frozen items. Carries Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese foods. Many brands now have descriptions and cooking instructions in English, but part of the fun is trying to figure out what some of the products are. There is a wall of live lobster and fish, and ready made foods. The BBQ pork and other roasted meats are too fatty for my Western palate, but good sushi. Clean restrooms, and ample parking.

You've got to know what you are going there for and how to find it on your own!! I have yet to find an English speaking clerk, representative, or manager at this huge store! I would spend a lot more money there but they can't or refuse to speak English. I hope its not an insult in their culture to not speak their language in their store, but it would make sense (or dollars) to expand their customer market to English speaking folks too. Great food and asain herbal selection and huge inventory. Looks like many imported items flown in daily.

MD is probably my favorite ethnic market in the Tampa area. The Pinellas Park location is somewhat bigger and more well stocked. The Tampa location has more of a neighborhood market feel which I personally like. You really can't go wrong either way. Absolutely recommend the hot foods they offer. Crispy pork belly and Chinese duck...mmmm.

Clean and well stocked. We find the vegetables and seafood that the chain stores don't have. We are on the Plant paradox diet and can find many compliant foods. Also have a good hot food to go or eat there. Their pre made sushi is better than most.

This place is an awesome gem. They’ve got some of the best exotic fruits and a pretty large selection at that. They’re Jackfruits are always on point! They’re usually about $1.99 per pound but the good thing is, you can get pieces already cut up in the fridge area if you don’t want to buy the whole Jackfruit. They also sell Thai tea here and it’s phenomenal. Many hidden treasures. Only downside is that nothing is in English and most of the employees don’t speak English well so asking questions is kind of out of the question.

Excellent fresh seafood selection, my favorite place to pickup beef sliced just the way I like it, all my Southeast Asian spice and noodle needs met, great hot food, produce, frozen dumplings, and beverage selection. This is a real special place and I would love to see this chain grow even more. It's become my primary grocery on a lot of items through the week.
