After eating the local fresh items at Jessics, you will not want to eat conventional from the grocery store. It amazing to have my kids ask for more fruits and veggies.

Great source for produce. Disagree with other review siting high prices. Much less expensive than what you spend in store. Much less expensive than the local farmers markets and much fresher too. Produce easily lasts 2 weeks in fridge before going bad.

I've been a loyal Jessica's shopper for 20 years. During the course of those years, I have sent many clients to the stand knowing in my heart that what I was doing was promoting a place that is good for the community, and the local economy. However, I am sorry to say that Memorial Day weekend 2016 is when that all ends. I want the owner to know that I struggled with writing this review, but I cannot promote a business knowing how willing their cashiers are to mistreat customers over alleged personal views....Detweiller's cashiers do not care what I am wearing, no matter how devout they may be in their faith. So let's set the record straight. My Korean War shirt which reads "Freedom is not Free" happens to carry very personal meaning with me. My mother was Korean and my father was an American G.I. During that war, the soon to be North Korean regime made many promises to the soon to be South Koreans, including "Free" everything. The only promise they kept however, was splitting the country in two. In the first 5 years of the war my mother lost 17 close relatives. By the end of the war the family lost almost 81 as the rest of the family had become cloaked north of the 38th parallel. I don't need to tell you what North Korea is like now....I hope. So, for my mother's family, it seems the price of freedom was anything but "Free". Here in the states, she was able to move as she saw fit. Here in the states, she was able to see beyond the haters and achieve anyway. Here in the states, she bore a son who would someday proudly tell her story. Again, my problem is not with the stand....it's with someone who thinks it's their place to assume that I was just some war monger, and decided to be very rude to me. I'm not going to assume what her views are/were, but I'm sure I could make some fairly accurate guesses as to where she's at in the head. To the girl who saw fit to assume who I am....I was once EXACTLY like you....but then I turned 15....I realized that I am not on this earth to make assumptions about other people. Anyway, I'm going to Detweiller's from now on.

This to me is the only real farmer's market in Sarasota. You could almost sing a song to Jessica's. Everything is actually fresh, mostly organic and unlike the chemically treated, wax encased, picked Like a Rock fruit anywhere else, it turns ripe and actually gets sweet. Walgreens, Publix and sprouts fruit never ripen, and are brought in by spaceship from another galaxy, if you get lost finding Jessica's the first 5 times the neighborhood is pretty.

This place is a local treasure. Watching them bring in baskets of fresh organic lettuces, cukes, spinach, right from the farm outside the tent...bringing it home, washing it, eating it within minutes! Yum. Doesn't get better than that. And the ride down the canopy lane to get there adds to the delight. A weekend highlight.

This place takes advantage of the people that try to eat healthy, it is unconceivable the high prices charged, everything is by the pound and they even charge more than wholefoods. They really don't care about the environment the every material they use for packing is not recyclable...They are having a ball ripping us off due to the fact that there is no other organic place available in the area.

They are there doing hot, dirty work consistently without complaint and that is work that most of us wouldn't do for our privileged little selves. When I visit one of these local outdoor produce stands, I expect the products to be grown or harvested locally. But Jessica's explained that certain produce cant be grown locally year round, which is why most of the products are labeled from California. Florida in-season produce appears to be grown by Jessica's farm, but the bulk of their produce is from California. I got some red onions from California, some rosemary from Washington, and some Soy free pasture raised eggs from Pennsylvania for $6 a dozen. The Soy Free pasture raised eggs was worth the trip because they are hard to find, but I wish they were local. Jessica's believes the PA eggs are the best, which is why they choose to carry them over local eggs. The vegetables all looked very fresh and of high quality.

I love walking around the farmstand and picking out my produce-- I'm never disappointed with the choices, the quaility, or the prices. I do have to agree with some of the other reviews, some (NOT ALL!) of the cashiers are a little rude, but that won't keep me from returning again & again.

After having shopped for fresh produce for many years at this Farmstand; it is very disappointing on the way I was treated after spending just over $60 on produce. The night we purchased our produce, we cut open our pineapple, and one of the three cucumbers; and both were bad. The pineapple was rotten down the center of the core; and the cucumber was dried out and tannish in color inside. We cut another cucumber the next day and found the same thing; so we saved the rest to return to Jessica's to exchange. It was over $13 for the pineapple and cucumbers. Two of the girls gave me a very hard time; didn't want to exchange the produce; or refund me. It took almost 20 minutes for her to "decide" there wasn't anything she could do; she said "she didn't know what to do"; she didn't know how to exchange anything since my receipt I had was not itemized. So, she said she would have to go get the owner. After waiting for her to wait on at least 4 or more customers; she ignored me again; and I asked her if she was going to get the owner. She said "yes"; and then slowly walked out of the produce stand to the very back of the property to one of the white covered buildings. A young man came back with her; they both ignored me again; when I asked if that was the owner; one of the girls at another register said, "no, that's the son".....He never approached me whatsoever; kept his head down; and the girl that went to get him ignored me again; and I finally asked "her" if that is the owner; and she said "no, that is the son"....she still did not know what to do for me....so I took it upon myself and got a new pineapple, and three cucumbers, and she told me very rudely - "go ahead and do whatever I wanted and take them".... It was such an embarrassing, distressful situation; which should never have happened. When I told her I didn't appreciate her giving me such a hard time; she made more sarcastic faces at me; and I said I wouldn't be back; and the son said, "good; don't come back...." As I walked away to my car in total disbelief at this entire experience; someone called a foul name out to me........I have never ever in my entire 58 years ever had an experience like this on returning anything to a store or market. These "kids" that work out at the Farmstand need an education on customer service. We have experienced and heard from other people about the disrespectful attitude of many of the workers at the registers. Some are vey nice and good at what they do. Others, should not be employed where they are dealing with the public. There are too many other places to buy farm fresh produce in Sarasota. This is one place I will NEVER go back to. And, I'm sure you could care less if this is the way you allow your employees to treat customers; based on this experience.

BEST farm EVER! Been here for decades... small, family owned, quality organic produce. They grow much of what they sell right there and get a lit from other local organic farms as well. Great prices and quality! Their lettuce is AMAZING and their spinach .... OH MY! Try it, and you'll be addicted!

If you like fruits and vegetables full of pesticides and chemicals, and artificially colored and with a coating of wax on it, this isn't the place for you. Everything's organic in this shaded outdoor market. They have fresh raw dairy products which is hard to find. I bought many of their kinds of raw dairy for fun to sample: raw milk, heavy cream, plain yogurt, sour cream and cottage cheese, and even butter! I'm lactose intolerant so when I get the raw dairy products, I feel like a million bucks with no side effects. Their cheeses are also raw, much to my delight so I can have cheese with my salads and dishes without getting stomach cramps that I usually experience from pasteurized and homogenized dairy junk from chain stores that clog up your arteries. They also have many different fruits and vegetables I did not recognize. And absolutely the correct raw and unfiltered honey I couldn't get anywhere else. Their freshness of their chemical-free and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables is unrivaled and hard to get anywhere else in a place like this. I know because I couldn't find it anywhere else in chain stores. Elite chain stores like Whole Foods and Fresh Market sadly come in second place as far as wholesomeness and organic, and closest to the Earth you can get. They start getting the store ready and receive shipments for other items before dawn Friday mornings but you have to wait till they open Fridays at 12pm to start till 7:30pm (come early before opening to get first dibs on choices), 8am - 5pm Saturdays, and Sundays 11am-5pm. Cash or Credit. Even though they have bags to bag your purchases, bringing your own shopping bags and/or boxes is welcome. This is the place the radicals, activists and free thinkers go to like in food co-ops in major cities. Places like these, you know you're in the right place for wholesomeness and consideration of the source of food. Keep an open mind as you venture and browse in this open air market. Go mornings. The clientele is from all walks of life. Hint: Many customers keep showing up wearing their fancy high heeled shoes. The smart ones wear regular simple shoes. (I notice the only few negative reviews I read were from people who submitted little reviews or only one review that were all negatives to begin with at other places as well. That should tell you the validation of such negative reviews is questionable.)
