Detwiler's is awesome! I love their produce. Their seafood counter is always stocked with fresh, reasonably priced seafood. Their butcher block is the same. The bakery will temp even the strongest willed person. My only complaint is how difficult it is to move around in the store on busy days. I was here on Saturday, and yes, I know, Saturday is a busy shopping day everywhere however, it was so over-crowded I was nervous of an emergency. There is no way everyone could get out of that building unharmed in an emergency. So, wheelchair bound, and individuals in need of help to get around, be careful going in or choose a less busy day. Other than that, this place is really great!

I visited Detwiler's new location in Palmetto, FL today! This store is probably twice the size of their Lockwood Ridge Rd location, if not three times. The aisles are wide so there's plenty of room to navigate. You can tell they took their time setting up this store. While most grocery stores just throw a coat of paint up on the walls, Detwiler's takes to a whole new level with murals. Each section of the store has its own theme. No matter what you're looking for, you can find it at this location. Fresh fruit, meats, sea food, and there are plenty of grab-and-go options in the deli and bakery. I was delighted to see that they have their own labeled vitamins and supplements now. Last but not least, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They definitely brought the family atmosphere to this location!

While in fl for the month, o shoped there 2-3 times a week. Great fresh fruits & veg. I was blown away with the freshest seafood. Prices were fantastic. Loved the daily specials. Cant wait to get back. Too bad you didn't buy the old Albertsons store. Its bigger & set up for your needs. Would have been a better buy than restructuring scotty's. But love your store

I don't shop.... for food. But, I do follow my wife around dutifully while she shops and this place is amazing. What great fresh natural food they have here! My favorite is the cheese stand, wonderful cheese, goat cheese, every thing that cheese can be made from! Free samples! I come out not hungry because I've grazed so much! Prices seem good too. Get you some!

Best place for fresh produce. Their fresh bone in ham is spectacular and a great price. Seafood is priced well and the ground beef in the 5LB. Packs is the best I have bought. Definitely worth the drive. The peppered bacon is so tasty and fresh. Highly recommend the Argentine shrimp, great pricing and great flavor. Prices are GREAT!

Prices are a wee bit higher than the big W stores, but the store is clean well stocked, and checkout was a breeze. My first time shopping at Detwiler's; suggested to go there by my daughter. Think Whole Foods without the whole paycheck and snobbery! Clean store, wide aisles, well staffed, friendly employees, bright, clean displays of fresh foods and a great selection of quality products at reasonable prices. Produce was very fresh and affordable...I noted $1.74 Brussels sprouts immediately!! Great selection of seafood including wide variety of fresh whole fish and fillets, shellfish...meat department had all the cuts of beef, pork, chicken, etc. Deli had Boars Head products and a gourmet cheese selection and there are plenty of prepared foods-subs, dips, spreads, dinner items. Never heard of this market and this was a grand opening south of where we locally shop but would love to see them expand into Tampa- Brandon!

Great prices and lots of local products. Even when it's really busy, I can still get in and out faster than the other area grocery stores. They don't have everything but you may be surprised but what they do have. I would highly recommend starting here and then getting whatever else you need from one of the other places on the way home.

GREAT bakery with the most friendly people. Every checkout person is nice and there's a very good selection of fresh produce. I always try to visit when I'm in town. The parking can get difficult with a lot of snow birds driving like they should have their licenses revoked so, don't assume people won't do the last thing you expect them to do in the parking lot.

A truly upscale store with tons of variety and competitive prices in every department. It was about time they opened up a high quality store in this area. The store is very clean, well decorated and has a relaxed environment you can shop at. Vegetables, fruits, meats, sea food, deli, bakery, vitamins/supplements, and many more areas, all with tons of options, including many organic and healthy products. All the items purchased were tasty, fresh, and made by friendly staff. I have to mention one more time that I was impressed with the variety and so many choices I had not seen before. This is my 5th time at this market. I drive from Port Charlote and worth the drive. I love the the variety of small market items you can't find in the chain grocery stores. The produce is amazing and their deli meat is delicious. And if you are a bacon freak like my husband and me are.....you will adore their brand. I wish we could get a store here in Port Charlotte. Until my wish comes true....I will continue to make the drive. One more thing....their ice cream and lobstah rolls?? Oh my lanta!!

We really enjoyed this farmers market with its amazing variety of produce and also Seafood. We bought shrimp and scallops and had them for dinner tonight. Oyster mushrooms, figs, prickly pear fruit, all fresh. We had some of the best watermelon we've ever tasted and it was only a $2 for a quart of chunks. They even had a pineapple machine were you picked out your fresh pineapple, put it into the machine and press the button and a machete comes along and hatchets off at the top and sides and drops it into your container. Fun stop!

The produce was mostly good although some needed to be soaked when I got home due to lack of water to stay more crisp. There was a fairly good selection of almost everything. It was very,very crowded and very busy. Well worth the trip but I would like to try and find a more quiet time to go so I can have a better look

Lots of great products at good prices, and the employees are wonderful! I just hate that they replaced the pineapple guy with a machine. My sister in law uses the pinapple cores for her cancer protocols, and we couldn't get them from the machine. :-( So many people losing their jobs to machines.

Their quality is always astounding and I love all the different things you can get there. Baked goods are always a nice treat once and a while. Detwilers in the to 'go to place'. Love their produce, meats & Staples. Staff I'd terrific. It's always crowded. My complaint is about a man, walked directly into my cart. As the place was very crowded, I was @ a total stand still, cart not moving. This rude man gave me a look, then yelped 'ouch'. As if I caused it. He gimped away after a look of anger/distaste. I could only say, sorry, but I did not walk into u, r u okay. He ignored that. In closing, be prepared for a full house, shoppers taking up entire aisles, leaving carts in the aisles & cutting u off OR walking into u or ur cart. Just like us bypass 41 'push cart defensively'!!

We love this place going there frequently while snowbirding in Venice and missing it after we go back north. The selection of produce and prices are outstanding. Their salsa is unique and very tasty. The fish/seafood section offers numerous selections with the salmon and smoked salmon being so delicious. The deli is always busy with the waits being rather lengthy at times. They have some prepackaged deli meat for those who don’t want to wait; however the amounts are usually around a pound. I normally want smaller amounts, a half pound or less, so I am requesting the management to provide smaller quantities as well. The ice cream stand offers several flavors, and the price is less than anywhere around. They also offer hot home-made clam chowder and lobster bisque. I think the clam chowder is the best I have had in the area; creamy and full of clam pieces. With everything they have to offer, it is understandable why it is always busy. Checkout generally goes quickly and the cashiers are friendly, so don’t stress out while waiting.

It's more than a store, it's an experience. Shopping there makes me feel like I'm out of town and in the country at a farmer's market. Superior produce, deli, bakery (all baked from scratch at the store), sub shop, smoothie and coffee bar, awesome selection of health foods, top notch butcher and seafood shop, and much more. It's easy to spend hours in there. It's worth the time and the drive to go there!!

I am someone to trust when it comes to ratings. I will never go here again reason being I bought grapes, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, pears, apples. When I got home I rinsed them off and found mold and rotten strawberries hidden in the middle of the rest, and moldy blueberries in the container. The place is clean, helpful and respectful staff, clean bathrooms, and the place is very organized. The produce in plastic containers I no longer trust.

Most efficient mass crowd handler grocery store I have ever come across. Every person that works there are always working hard, cleaning, stocking , offering help or just asking if you need help . Saturdays are the best for sample day. Their prices are amazing . My only complaint, on several occasions, the fruit and veggies don't last more than a day or two once you bring them home. I was told it's because they wash everything ..and probably doesn't have anything sprayed on them. Got some great deals today( pineapple 2/3$. They have a core machine that you can package your own or first $2.99 I got a large plastic container of cantaloupe topped with pineapple. Hass avocados 2/$1. Huge Boars head display with tons of samples and great prices. They support alot of local farmers and businesses so when you shop here you support them all.

This store is fabulous! They have home grown produce, hand trimmed meats, steaks, seafood, apples, peaches from Georgia and on and on. It's centrally located on US 41 in Venice, FL. The prices are low, the produce is abundant, and the employees are helpful. Would highly recommend this store!

This place is ridiculous on Saturdays. Not a complaint, but rather freaking impressive how they keep things flowing. If you're claustrophobic or have anxiety, you will be in for an adventure at times with the herds of people. I can say though, I was impressed with the speed of the deli with that many people. There are free samples everywhere that weren't disgusting. Tons of good veggies of course. Decent prices, lots of registers opened. The lines moved well and staff is always pleasant. I made lintel soup that was a hit last night, so thanks Detwiler's!

First time there. Fresh fruits and vegetables are awesome. Very large meat and fish selections. Prices are Very reasonable. Most are locally grown. Service was great. Lots of employees for help. No long wait waits at the butcher or any other counter. The bakery has most everything you can think of and then some. You need to give it a try. You won't regret it!!

Very fun place - kind of similar to Trader Joe's - lots of great produce, baked goods, deli & fresh soup, sandwich & ice cream stands. Several sample stands throughout - we came around 2:30 on a Monday but still a pretty busy place. But still able to get at everything. Will definitely do again!

This store is a good inside farmer's market. Fresh vegetables are excellant as well as meats. The beef has been delicious and even better than other specialty butcher shops in area. Rib roasts and tenderloins are wonderful The ground sirloin is flavorful and moist not dry at all. Prices are very fair. Veggies are fresh, some local in season. Great selection. Prices are lower than most other stores. The service people are courteous and extremely helpful. I would have rated the store a 5 STAR except for my experience with the pineapple machine which I believe gave me food poisoning. When I went to the machine to cut the pineapple it was being cleaned. I was able to see the inside of it. It was a total disaster area with juice, skins and bits of pieces clinging to everything. I came back later with my. pineapple, cut it up in the machine and put it in a container. I ate some that night. The next morning I was so sick I had to call the doctor. He thought it could be food poisoning and told me what to do and to make sure if I got worse I was to go to the Emergency room right away. I slowly got to feel better the next day. My husband and I reviewed all I had eaten the 24 hours before I got ill and narrowed it down to the pineapple which was probably contaminated by bacteria inside the machine. My illness was not just an upset stomach. It was so much worse. It took me 2 weeks plus to feel normal again. My advice is to buy the pineapple and prepare it at home. Don't take chances with the machine.

Detwiler's was a blast. Going there I've noticed that people for the most part are pretty patient. I come in from Port Charlotte and I cant find ANY better STOCK or price anywhere else. The quality is superb in comparison to PUBLICS, WINN D, OR WALLY'S. It's well worth the trip. it's a tight store so just take your time. The best part was my cashier, she said there is no better place to work. What's that tell you?

Best grocery store around. Local, fresh meat (usually butchered that day or he previous) at great prices. Detwiler's Normal prices are the sale prices at other stores. The produce is always fresh. I can buy 2-3 weeks of produce and don't have to worry about spoilage. Lots of local Amish goods and fresh baked goods. The staff is really nice as well. One time we dropped to 30 count eggs and broke most on the floor. No complaints from them. They helped clean it up, got us more eggs, and didn't charge for he broken ones. The down side is that the stores can get really crowded on the weekend, especially during snowbird season. And we don't live close to the stores so it is a little bit of a hike. But, that doesn't stop us from going and it is well worth the trip.

The attitude of associates is among the best I have encountered in recent years … They really get it , and they really seem to care. but, my all-time favorite is the lady with Bavarian pretzels and dips who travels the store on her cart handing out samples . She is very kind very helpful and a great asset to the company. Keep up the good work , people , I really like your stores . oh yeah, and I wouldn't make too much of the really small handful of negative reviews , because we all know they cannot be avoided . I expect a lot from grocery stores. I guess It's from shopping at Jungle Jim's for 30 years. I have shopped at every conceivable grocery chain on the east coast and have always looked for something more and ever since moving to the Tampa area 3 years ago I have totally been missing out. I am sure glad I discovered Detwiler's Farm Market. The produce, seafood, & meat are very fresh. Their selection of just about everything is amazing. I will definitely be going back. So this is going to be a long one but I had an interesting experience here. I come here rarely just because it’s out of my way but when I do it’s always enjoyable. Yesterday I came in with my daughter. I ring out at the register not thinking twice about anything just trying to keep control of my minion. After we are done, we walk outside and it’s pouring. We take a seat in the chairs out front to try and wait it out but it’s not budging. An employee later comes to me and asks me if I want him to go get my car? I was a little ....shocked? I’ve never heard anyone offer such a thing as a grocery employee, atleast around here. So I wearily give him my keys thinking this may be like a set up

Always the best prices on Produce, meats and seafood. We're there every week. A little hint: In snowbird season, the Deli is super busy, go to the back and get a number first, then go back and get your produce. By the time you get to the back your wait is much shorter.
