It has been awhile since I've been to the location in Newington because I live on the other side of town. My card didn't scan because if inactivity and the first thing the customer service person says us "oh, you must shop at stop and shop". I was taken back and felt the comment wasn't necessary. She was a tad bit tuddy. Embrace the extra traffic you're getting, the could become the frequent, consistent shopper.

Terrible, gross store. Mold and bugs all throughout the produce section. The current grocery manager mark has no class and terrible customer service skills. He would not help me locate certain items I was looking for after they reset the store isles, he said he didn't have the time and walked away. I will ensure to never spend another dime at this or any other price chopper ever again. I've found the stop and shop up the road to be a much cleaner and more pleasant place to shop.

Go there to shop all the time. The people there are great. They always remember and ask about my daughter. She always gets a free balloon. They should treat their employees better. They work hard for pennies.

Under the impression this store was STILL 24-hours, I stopped by after work to pick up some groceries at 2:30 a.m. only to find the front "in" door locked. I tried the "out" door which opened. Figuring it was just a glitch in one of the doors, I entered. Grabbed a hand-basket and started to shop. One of the stockers in the aisles saw me and then informed me they were closed. I responded, "I thought you guys were supposed to be 24-hours?" He said, "We started closing at 1 a.m. EIGHT MONTHS, AGO." Just the Newington and Torrington branches apparently are no longer 24-hours. Um, then try stenciling that on YOUR FRONT DOORS so people don't go through the trouble of attempting to buy some groceries. Further, it makes no kind of business sense to have two stores NO LONGER 24-HOURS and the rest ARE. Stop & Shop gets all my business, now. AND they have better gas points, too.

I like Price Chopper for their sales, coupons and convenient location, but the Newington store is lacking in many areas. This store hasn't seen a remodel never once since they opened. It is aging and looks worn. They also don't have the selecting of other supermarkets. You can find just about anything here, but they do not carry brands of items other stores have and not as many flavors/varieties of certain items. The occurrence that turned me off from this location happened at checkout. I used the self checkout on 10/29/18 and had coupons (you can do very well here with coupons). I misunderstood that Double Coupons only meant those coupons under $1 could be doubled (I assumed they could at least take $1 off the coupons over $1 value). I also had a few coupons in the pile that I didn't intend to use but gave the attendant anyway. Instead of the attendant coming up to me and letting me know of my mistakes, she called over three other employees, who each came over and abruptly scolded me on how I didn't get so and so item or that the item was wrong which one wasn't wrong. One of these associates was the Price Coordinator. I apologized, but they didn't say a word, and made me feel like I was trying to scam the store. I suppose the problem I had with the situation was the group of associates ganging up and trying to nitpick every error and being so abrupt and unpleasant. If the one attendant on duty knew how to handle the situation and talked to me more reasonably, I wouldn't have felt so bad. These individuals shouldn't deal with customers. I am a very easy person to deal with, and I worked in a supermarket, so I know the correct way to handle situations. This wasn't even an issue, and with a few associates unprofessional actions, I doubt I will return to this store any time soon.

I visited here on a Friday morning about 9am. I wanted a bagel and I got more then I had anticipated, in a good way. You can get a bagel toasted and with cream cheese on it. Also the employees I interacted with, Antonino and Angel were extremely helpful and a joy to talk to. The attendant of the self checkout was able to help me pay for the bagel while helping another customer. I would suggest that Price Chopper do some research and development on improving the self checkout system, it does seem to be still dependant upon an attendant more than other stores.

This store's décor is incredibly dated and the store itself is very run down. It was clear that one of the refrigeration units was not working properly and their floors in many of the aisles were unbelievably dirty. This store is desperately in need of a face lift and renovations.

Price chopper 4 yrs ago when we first moved to Newington was the best grocery store we've ever shopped at. In the last yr unfortunately it has slipped so far down. I was upset when it became average but now it's just awful! You can tell the employee's are miserable which equals the whole store is, customers and all. Our grocery bill is the 2nd only to mortgage, and now stop and shop get it. It's sad.

Shopping in this store can be a strange experience. In the last year I have experienced: "Sorry sir we are out of honey ham until we sell enough other meat so we can have the money to order ham" "We are out of burgers for today , tomorrow we can make more with tomorrow's meat. You should come back then." I was asking for two. The Southington store is much better.

The pluses - Clean, usually helpful staff The negatives - I often need to shop after 12 am, but before 6 am. The times this place used to be 24h. The prices were a little on the high side but I didn't mind because they were the only 24h grocery that I could find. They've since changed their hours, but keep the pricing high. The selection of organic foods are dismal, IF you can find what you're looking for. Unlike other stores, price chopper makes you hunt for organic products. Organic rice isn't in the rice aisle, nor is it in the organic section. It's nestled somewhere you wasted 15 minutes looking for before asking for help. If you want groceries, I'd suggest the stop and shop close to Wethersfield. Similar hours, cheaper food, and less frustrating to find products. All in all, price chopper isn't BAD, but it's not cool to change your hours from 24h to 6am-12am. Especially when the corporate has used their status as 24h in the past to prevent other chains from going 24h.

I like the values that I have as a price chopper shopper. Extra coupons, gas points and sale items. The only problem I have is they move items around so I can not always find them.

Nice store, clean. Good variety of items. One drawback is that the people stocking fruits and vegetables. We're pretty much rude and on the pushy side for me to get out of the way. And I understand delivery trucks come in at different times and by the time they get unloaded and out to the selling floor take some time. But this was like 9:45 and I would think by then most all items would be out for sale. It's not even that so much it's just the rudeness of the two different gentleman and that area on April 26th. Front end manager woman was excellent very polite opened up another check out register High marks for her. Also the gentleman in we are the pizzas are made I assumed he was a manager very high marks for him also. Probably will try again in the future to come in but the rudeness to a customer. Which should be obviously the foremost impression on any employee working for your company. I understand they have a job to perform I worked retail never treated customers like I witnessed today

I was a die-hard Stop &Shop customer until moving to Newington. Because of convenience I started shopping at Price Chopper. I was hesitant, thought it was one of those generic stores, i.e.Save Alot.I have to agree with a few of these reviews that are posted. Gas points add up much quicker than Stop &Shop and the original base price is lower to begin with. I usually get 70-90 cents off, which is great with the price of gas going up. You do have to be careful with the produce.I have purchased fruits only to find them moldy the next day. I had a birthday party with another enterprise in the same plaza, so for convenience I ordered food and cake from Price Chopper. I gave them a pick up time only to arrive and none of the food was ready. Got the cake to tbe party and went back. By then, the party was almost over and nobody had eaten . Thank goodness after hearing the story they let us stay longer than our allotted time period. It turned out well, but I was very stressed and disappointed on my son's birthday. Self check out registers never work rigbt,having to constantly get help from attendant. Some things good, some not so much. You decide if it's worth it. For me, I continue to shop there. Good prices ,gas savings, and convenience help make up my mind .

I am so disappointed at this supermarket. WHY?... I never used to come to this supermarket until Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union opened. I've been a faithful customer because of my banking facilities. Now, I find out Price Chopper is dropping NFCU. I just wonder if the supermarket realizes that there may be MANY, MANY customers thinking the way I do... The moment NFCU closes their doors, they're (Price Chopper) loosing a customer, perhaps maybe many customers.

I had a wrong order when I went to pick up my food from the food court iwas very pissed because I had no way to fix the problem because the time was close for the party and I was already behind. I went to report my experience with management when one of the managers Nia walked out to meet me, She called another manager Mark and a supervisor whose name i have forgotten, any way all three came to my assistance they went above and beyond to correct the situation. I had vowed never to return but because of the great service i received, i would go back more often. My word to other customers is give them a chance to make it right

At first I stayed away due to the name. I thought it to he generic. I was very mistaken. It is a store I find most enjoyable. clean, organized, great atmosphere, and very helpful employees. How can I ever shop anywhere else now? Good thing is I don't need too.

when first opened prices were great! I must say my review has dropped, over time prices became comparable to local Stop and Shop (SnS), Fenn road. PC prices has risen and staff turnover is tremendous. since Stop and Shop opened 2nd store in Newington, I have noticed a definite decline in this store. First, stopped being 24 hour, Gas rewards changed and followed SnS schedule of rewards. My wife, prefer SnS for their produce and meat AND she can bank at SnS. I prefer PC for gas points and general items. Now, I look for sale items only. this store location appears doomed since Stew Leonard opened South of it and SnS opened to its north to attract customers away. I hope not.

In the early morning of February 22, 2017, they closed the store before the posted closing time of 1:00AM, preventing myself and two others from entering. If you do not believe me feel free to check the cameras. I don't think that was a good thing to do

Surprised by the clean, efficient layout of the bakery and produce sections. I only had to run in quickly for a few things, but it was great to see how much space there was in the store. There were a ton of fresh bread options in the bakery that I debated about trying. Would recommend checking the place out if you're in the market for a new market.
