We have used MCAS Yuma commissary for around four years now and find it to be a wonderful commissary. This is a small commissary but it is stocked with the essential basics as well as the nice to have things they have room for. The meat department is full service and will custom cut orders or custom order meats that they do not normally stock. I have never been treated any way other than professionally by any of the commissary staff. This commissary serves a relatively small active duty community and a huge winter time retiree community and they do it with pride.

The cashiers are extremely rude and very unprofessional. They discuss their personal business in front of customers and the baggers complain (very loudly) if you have a full basket or cart of groceries. My first experience inside of this commissary was the absolute worse. We had just moved aboard MCAS, therefore we needed a lot of groceries. As I approached the cashier (only 2 registers were open and the cashier for one was bagging for the other), all you heard her say very loudly was, "I'm tired of this, why can't people who have big orders just go to Walmart or something. I'm ready to go so I can get ready for my date tonight." This happened on Friday, April 22, 2016 @ 6:45pm.

I always save from 20-30 % at the Commissary as compared to local grocery stores. Pet food is especially low in price, frozen vegetables and bread products too. Meat prices about same as regular price in grocery stores, but grocery stores usually have T-bone, New York, and Rib Eye steak (at least one choice) on sale for less than half the Commissary price. Local store brands are also less expensive than comparable commissary name brands. The Commissary is much more than a convenience, it is a significant benefit for our active duty and retired military veterans. Tell your Congressmen and Senators: Do not cut or privatize the Commissary benefit.

Weakest commissary I have been to...there is hardly any produce to speak of, small bread section, no bakery or anything fresh and weak selection if all other products. If you don't live on base, it's not worth the extra trip to save on tax.

As comissaries go, this one is relatively small in comparison. Therefore, the selection is a bit limited. It's to be expected, as this is a fairly small Marine base. As for the cashiers & courtesy clerks (grocery baggers, for those Google maps users, a fair percentage of whom are "vocabularily" challenged), they are working at a COMISSARY, not a Safeway or Whole Foods, etc. There is no corporate standard on how employees in those positions should conduct themselves. And, to the person who mentioned that they didn't realize that it was "costumery" to tip: the term, my friend, is customary. I am taken aback at the atrocious grammar in the vast majority of reviews that I come across, not just in Google maps, but other apps as well.
