This is my local craft store (I won't shop at Hobby Lobby because I don't support their political affiliations). Michaela has top brand products interspersed with their own brand stuff, which may not be as top notch, but is still fine. Will definitely be back.

The free class for the kids should/could be better. I took a passel of older kids in, nit knowing what to expect because there was no description of the activities/craft. I thought perhaps they would look at the registration and modify the craft to fit the ages? Since they have no description but asked for the ages of the kids. Alas, the crafts were very young-child oriented. Thankfully my kids are flexible and easy-going, so they didn't flay me for signing them up. It was free, so that's something... But all things considered, it could have been way better. The gal who hosted was not unfriendly, but certainly not ebullient and bursting forth with the joy of crafting or working with youth. Because of the quality of the free event I would think twice about doing a paid class... Which is probably not the result which they were hoping to achieve.

Don't get me wrong, I like Michael's. I have shopped quite a few times at Michael's. I actually placed my first online order with store pickup last week. I ordered tulip bunches for a wreath I am planning to make. I ordered them because I knew I could count on getting them. This is one of my complaints about Michael's: I never know if it will be in stock or if they will have enough. By ordering on line and picking up at the store I got what I needed with no problem whatsoever. If you are a knitter Michael's does offer different brand yarns. If you are looking for cheaper brands like Caron, Red Heart, Bernat they have them. They also carry Lion Brand and Patons which are very dependable. There is another brand, Loops & Threads. I believe it is their main brand they carry because they seem to have all kinds of yarns under that name. I am not crazy about this yarn because of a blanket I made with it. Turned out the yarn sheds like crazy. Overall, if you are looking for yarn for a non heirloom item I think they have what you are looking for. The higher end yarns would not be here. My only complaint with their yarn selection is that they have a number of brands, but they don't carry all the types of yarn that the brands offer. For example, I know they carry Lions Brand. However, I don't know if they will have Lions Brand Woolspun. I have learned to check on line first so I don't waste my time. The workers have always been polite and friendly. The store is always neat and pretty organized considering how much they carry. Returns are easy if you comply with the time frame and have the receipt. AND you can always find a coupon.

Place has tons of craft ideas and even classes. Loads of choices in paints from acrylic oil and testor. Love the sessional/holiday variety. Employees are pretty friendly. Only gripe is the custom things they do. I had them mount a wedding certificate with our binding rope. I wanted to add a color matte board to the box. It added 80 dollars to the total. For just a piece of colored board. Needless to say I went without.

The only reason why I am rating this store one star is because there is terrible management. There is a manager named Lynn and she needs to be fired. If you are applying to work here, don’t bother because they don’t train you properly, yell at you for making mistakes in something you weren’t even trained in and don’t tell you when to come in for work, mistreat you for not coming in when you weren’t even scheduled.

I believe working in retail FRIENDLINESS is a may key to kerp business. . . I know why that place never has people in it when I go in. Again, they didn't have it. The 65 pound is just too flimsy! I will go back to buying on line from Amazon.

I was returning an item to the store. I had a decorative dry erase calendar that the lines were erasing from. We really liked it and I asked if there was a way to fix it so we can buy it again and not have the lines erase (we are in a craft store after all). I spoke with Jason and he helped me out by cutting a piece of plastic from a poster board frame (I bought it) and attaching it to a new dry erase calendar. Needless to say I was thrilled with the ingenuity and assistance from the employees. And I only spent maybe $3 additional from the first one. Now we can use it and it not erase. I know that doesn't say too much for that product but I really wanted it to work and was able with the help of the staff.

This location is amazing! The staff is always so friendly and helpful. I went in looking to buy 15 skeins of yarn for a few blankets and the employees were incredibly helpful, grabbing them from backstock, showing incredible patience when I realized I had to change my design, and helping apply coupons. I can’t say enough good things about this store and the actions of the employees have made it an easy choice to return here over other stores for future projects.

Disappointed with lack or oragami or quilling supplies, staff has always been helpful. Also annoying half store is considered "everyday value" or a "doorbuster" that doesn't let you use coupons. I do like availability of scrapbook paper and usually good holiday decor.

I shopped the Holland Michigan location today. I left completely frustrated and without having made a purchase. I had an email coupon for 30% off my purchase. My phone never pulls up the coupons. I don't know why. I showed the email to the clerk so that she could apply the coupon for me. She refused. Every time I have been to Michael's in the past they have applied the coupons for me. I shop Michael's on a regular basis. I shopped them exclusively for my art and jewelry supplies. But no more. I am taking my business to Hobby lobby or to online shop. I would rather pay shipping and handling for a purchase them to endure the frustration that I have today. If Michael's doesn't value me as a customer, if they don't value my business, they don't deserve to have my business. And they won't have my business anymore. I am taking my business to Hobby lobby or elsewhere.

Michael's is a great craft store, but it is kind of expensive, in my opinion. But if you sign up for their emails you'll get lots of 40% off or more coupons and plenty of other deals which help bring them down to a more reasonable price. I would check online or make sure to grab a flyer before shopping there unless you don't mind paying full price.

I can almost always count on Michaels to have what I need. I'm decorating a frame in a winter theme and they had at least six snowflake choices. I also got some pretty Swarovski crystals that were buy one, get one half off. The stickers were buy two get one free. I'd much rather support Michaels. Hobby Lobby moved in not too far from them and I think it has hurt their business. I've long been a fan of Michaels.

I love Michaels variety. They are an exceptional craft store and I love their Christmas selection (especially the wrapping paper). I try and stay far away from decor or arranged floral. Both are outrageously priced (faux floral bouquet or faux wreath = $59-$129, spray painted styrofoam headstones (Halloween) $29.99 each, etc. A huge portion of these decor items I was able to find a Home Depot or Wal-Mart (same exact UPC) and were about 30% cheaper at regular price.

What can be said about this place? Let's get the most obvious question out of the way: hobby lobby of Michael's? Selection is similar, but Michael's does not have fabrics. Everything else is very similar. Michael's also offers framing services, they do classes and such. Overall the products are same and selection is similar, even if quantity is less than hobby lobby. Customer service here is not too bad, something that is expected from a big box store. And why does this place smell like cinnamon all the time?

Asked an associate (I think her name was Michelle) about Happy Planner stickers, she was very nice and tried to help me find the item in the store. Later when I was waiting to check out she came up front and opened her register to ring up my order when after another associate told her she didn't have to. The reason for the 4 stars is due to the other associate's lack of customer service, when standing in their line they never said anything about me having to wait due to the previous customer needing to go get her husband. A simple apology can go along way. Other then that, Michelle is a 5 star asset to the company. Best service I've gotten in an Michael's!

If you have an item that is full price, newspapers have a coupon for 40% off a regular price item also you can get the coupon sent to your email, the coupon is on the app, or just login your Michael's website and you should be able to get it there also. Great coupon to use if you have a expensive item to purchase. There is also coupons for framing too.

Bought all my Christmas present yarn for 7 queen size afghan last year. The bigger yarn to do with my hands since I have bad hands and can't hold needles. But they down sized so bad that when I went on Sunday I could only get 10 skeins for one afghan to have a pattern. It's sad since last year I walked out with 70 skeins at one visit. Like the store but sometimes hard to find what you are looking for. Lots of times I stand in checkout line forever, since there's only 1 cashier. They do call backup after the line is so long you've grown whiskers. But I do like the store.

Excellent, I found great wrapping paper. Just what I came in for. Then more stocking stuffers and even STEM gifts for my amazing daughter's. To top it all off the sweet cashier made sure I got my military discount, customer rewards discount, coupon discount, and a 40% off on my next purchase. I was kindly asked by other staff if I needed assistance. Always happy to Shop here.

Always well stocked with great variety in their selections. Love how well organized the store always is and easy to find clearance and sale items that are obviously priced at low enough prices to get the merchandise out the door. Not like some stores who advertise clearance and sale items and then barely reduce the price by 10% just to get you into their store.

There is never anyone working on the floor. Today was pretty busy and I finally had to ask for someone to help me. To find out they had two people in the back, i got a manager who rolls her eyes and does that rude "mam" thing with a flat expression- like that fools anyone. Michaels is closer to my house so I have tried several times. But Im done.

Not staffed well enough, and the lady that helped us did not seem to care about working there. The custom frames we were looking at were nice, but apparently out of stock. She said they don't have a way to see the next shipment or place an order.

Organized and clean. The staff at this location goes above and beyond what is expected of a normal cashier/ customer service representative. I spend a little over my budget one day and the cashier gave me some coupons that significantly reduced my bill. I will always return to this location without the expectation of getting discounts. I was just so impressed with how nice and generous the cashier was.

Mine daughter loves going to Michaels especially doing sale time. She was happy with everything she bought she even came home and placed an order online. She loves arts and crafts and she's definitely a diy girl. Michaels always have what she needs to keep her canvas and paints and other supplies stocked up at home.
