I would never bring this company and business after watching there episode on the show "The Profit". The owners made themselves look like crooks. They seem to be heartless thieves who doesn't deserve for anyone to spend a penny at their business. For anyone who didn't see the airing of this episode, I would highly advise you to go online and watch the episode of The "The Profit" before spending money at this business. You too will think twice before investing in a company with an owner such as the owner to this company. This company is an absolute joke and doesn't deserve to be in business.

I was going to be out of town for the services and explained to the person I ordered the flowers from that I would like them delivered to my friend's home. My friend was so moved by the "Stunning Floral Arrangement" they received and included a picture, which was just beautiful! I cannot say enough good things about David Navarro of Jacob Maarse! He did all of the floral for my daughter's wedding in early April and is such an amazing, creative professional! He literally creates magic! He is an attentive listener who can actually create what you have in your mind. Only better! We are very particular and wanted a unique tablescape while at the same time wanted it to be very elegant, classic and timeless. He listened to everything my daughter wanted, from garden roses, to elongated tablescapes, to an elegant twist on outdoor floral for the ceremony and EVERYTHING turned out better than we could have imagined or hoped for! Our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. Pure magic! David is a consummate professional, a pleasure to work with and made the whole experience so much fun! His whole team is very professional and genuinely excited about your event. David was great at creating a spectacular floral story while respecting your budget at the same time. David is someone we will continue to work with in the future for all of our floral needs - big or small. He is quite simply THE BEST.

Jacob Maarse is my go to place for special floral arrangements and one of a kind home decor. I have only had the best experience shopping at this establishment from Hank himself to the employees. Thumbs up to them for keeping their good attitudes amongst all the bad reviews, mostly based on one episode. Bad reviewers who have never shopped there or walked thru the store really have no business rating this business. Hank is a nice person as are the employees I have transacted with.

My wife and I don't usually give each other gifts, but I spontaneously decided to bring her some flowers on my way home from work on Valentine's Day. I walked by a half hour after they closed, and the guy who was locking up was nice enough to let me in. The arrangement I selected looked a little withered, but what can I expect for randomly walking in at the end of the day? The guy also gave me a significant discount and packaged it for me, which I didn't even have to ask for. I don't watch TV or know anything about the owner, but I will say that the employees are fantastic! 5 stars.

It’s so nice to have a florist that you know you can turn to even online, and they never disappoint. I was out of the country and wanted to send my sister flowers for her birthday. We cannot say enough wonderful things about David and his team at Jacob Maarse! We had a difficult time choosing a florist for our wedding, as it was hard to know from looking at pictures who would be able to bring our vision to life. We ended up choosing to work with David because of the support he and his team would be able to provide our other creative vendors and the glowing recommendation from our wedding planner. Boy, did they deliver! David and his team worked seamlessly with our wedding planner/designer and balloon vendor. Everything looked gorgeous, and we received tons of compliments. One of the things we especially loved about working with David is how well he listened to feedback during our mock up. Even though we weren’t able to articulate very well what we wanted to change, he went and pulled flowers from the back and worked on the arrangement while we were there. The next version we saw was for our engagement photo shoot, and we were blown away. We can’t recommend David and his team at Jacob Maarse enough!

Coasting on reputation from many years ago with premium prices but no longer the selection or service to match. They can still custom arrange unique orders but that is now hit or miss. Worse is now-sparse selection for browsing in-store. Last visit had almost empty interior green house that used to be maintained with a large selection and just a few hand bouquets, one with no water. Some staff don't seem to care. Despite being yet another FTD network florist, the competition from more agile Internet florists will probably force Jacob Maarse out of this big location at some point. Worth a visit to see what a big premium florist once occupied but for regular purchases there are better, less expensive options now.

I really don’t know what most of these reviewers are on about. I’ve ordered arrangements for my girlfriend from Jacob Maarse 3 times now over the course of about a year and, every single time, she was awed by the quality and creativity of the arrangements. She’s been the envy of all her coworkers each time. They have also always executed on my delivery instructions perfectly each time. Maybe people feel like Jacob Maarse is overpriced. To those people, I would say, while this isn’t a place I would go to order run-of-the mill arrangements because it will cost more than I could do for comparable arrangements elsewhere, it IS a place to go for arrangements you just can’t find anywhere else. Ever heard of a red rose and succulent arrangement? It was the most beautiful and unique arrangement I’ve ever seen and my girlfriend gushed about it for weeks afterward. She also saved the succulents and they are still alive in their own little pots to this day. If you’re looking to get off cheaply, you won’t succeed here. If you want to make an impression, Jacob Maarse is the place to go.

Best florist I know. Located on green in Pasadena. Really has a nice selection of greenery but they don't have many deals. Parking is usually available on the street outside, although you may have to pay. I don't like the high curbs.on a one way street, hard to sometimes get my car door open.

I own a production company in Chicago. Listen to what they say. They taped 80 hours they edited down to 44 minutes. I can tell you from 40 years of experience the final story isnt completely truthful. it is edited for impact and ratings. Marcus isnt the lovable character portrayed. He has his faults too that dont make it into the 44 minute episode. Judge the business by your experiences with them not by a 44 minute episode.

He worked with me to select the best flowers in my color scheme and produced a sample that was breathtaking. All our guests commented on the gorgeous flowers. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Jacob Maarse's Lead Designer David Navarro Is The Best There Is! David Navarro is truly the crème de la crème... the very best. To say that I am elated that he did the florals for my wedding would be a gross understatement. To know David to is to love him, and I could not be more grateful that he played such an incredibly integral part of making my wedding vision come to life. My mom and I came to David with very high expectations and a very particular taste in mind; we shared with him my exact aesthetic vision for my wedding and told him that I did not want my wedding to look "cookie cutter," but rather feel like the chicest dinner party imaginable. David is extremely reliable, professional, and as creative as it gets. His creativity is simply unmatched, as is his flexibility. I was not only very particular, but I also did not wish to have an obscene floral budget, and he truly made everything work perfectly based upon my needs and asks. From day one, he was on the same wavelength as me, and always picked up on my references, likes, & dislikes -- he even knew of the exact photo I was talking about from a 2012 Vogue wedding feature! It doesn't get more detailed than David Navarro. He came up with a myriad of ideas for my wedding that I had not seen before, and everything was even more beautiful and unique than I could have ever dreamt up in my mind! The kings table arrangements he created for my long dinner tables were spectacular - they made for tablescapes truly like no other... they were the most beautiful that I have seen. He also sourced for me a stunning array of candelabrum and candlesticks that gave the night the glow that I was after. My bouquet was an absolute dream, as were my sisters', mom's, and mother-in-law's. Even my husband, my dad, and father-in-law commented on how they loved their boutonnières. The pièce de résistance of the night were the incredible trees David's team handcrafted for me - these had the look and feel of gorgeous cherry blossoms, but took on a more ivory hue to match my event. I had told David I didn't want the typical flower arch or arbour for my outdoor ceremony, and of course he thought of the perfect pivot of this for my day. These trees were focal points in both my ceremony and my dinner, and were a star of the night. My guests took as many pictures of David's marvelous trees as they did with my husband and I! David is a true master of his craft - the most talented florist I have ever met! I recommend him to everyone, whether they are getting married, hosting any type of event, large or more intimate, or just need an extraordinary arrangement. The thought and care that David put into making my wedding so fabulous and the fact that he went so above and beyond in every way will not be forgotten!

I like this place. They always take care of me when I need last minute stuff. Even on Valentines Day at 5:45 pm - they took the time to look with me through the orchids and selected a nice one, but relatively cheap one (dont tell my wife ...). The staff is really friendly, no matter if I go there to shop or just to browse.

I have been going to Jacob Maarse for over 25 years. For me pulling into the garage and being greeted by the friendly floral arrangers and deliver people is always nice. It has always been a beautiful location and experience for me. Growing up in Pasadena you always felt special when you received flowers from Jacob Maarse. Yes it’s a bit on the expensive side of the scale but the floral arrangements are worth it. I have been taking my son to purchase flowers for his school dance dates for as long as I can remember. He would pick out a single flower and have it wrapped, such a special memory. From time to time I purchase the little bud vase flowers for coworkers and friends. Being the recipient of these is always a hit! I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience with this historic floral designer and it’s always a pleasure to shop and receive from Jacob Maarse!

I give Hank 5 stars for having the courage and loyalty for trying to continue his fathers legacy without the skills and education nessessary to run such s large organization. His father was so busy growing a successful business he didn’t take the time to train his son how he did it. Sometimes parents think they’re taking care of there kids by letting them have no responsibilities but it can sometimes have negative consequences. It amazes me how people are so quick to kick a guy when he’s down. Hank, invest some money on business management with an open mind and things will get better. Good luck.

All of the people defending this business just because they're "fed up with trolls" are just as bad. It's hypocritical to say only customers should leace reviews...but then leave a 5 star review in pity. The fact of the matter is that reputation and public relation is a key aspect of running a business, and it's one this one utterly fails at. The owner of this business made the DECISION to behave with immaturity on national TV, knowing his business and it's reputation was a stake. He CHOSE to compromise his imagine. He CHOSE to compromise his employees with his poor decisions. If he doesn't want to deal with the "trolling," he shouldn't have revealed his unprofessional attitude to so many potential customers. The bad reviews are completely his fault; it doesn't matter if you think they're "fair."

Being familiar with Jacob Maarse I had very high expectations after I hired them for my wedding - those expectations weren’t only met but honestly so far surpassed! David was my main point of contact throughout the entire process. I ordered online and the photo my friend sent of the arrangement is even prettier and more elegant than the photo on their site. I ordered from them last year and thought the quality of their design and flowers are worth so much more than they charge. I have used Jacob Maarse Flowers for 30 years. I have been to their lovely shop. I moved to NY many years ago, yet still use them when I am sending friends living in Pasadena flowers. They have been superb in terms of their selection/availability of flowers, their artistic talent in arranging gorgeous bouquets, and always receptive when I call in long distance to let me know what flowers & colors that they have in stock, & have been consistent in delivering what I asked for, and even more. They always exceeded my expectations. Depending on who answered the phone, service was generally professional, with a few exceptions. So up until last week, I would have rated them a "5" +. However, my experience last week gave me pause and disappointment as to whether this esteemed florist has deteriorated. As is my usual custom, I asked the salesperson that answered the phone, what flowers they had in stock and in what color. She replied that they had X, Y, & Z in green, pink, purple & white. I was rather disappointed because usually they have such a wide variety of elegant & seasonal choices & colors, including many Spring blooms even in the winter-- late January. Clearly, when I called, they had a limited selection, in limited colors. I told her that I wanted to spend $125. In the past, while pricey, I did not mind because I was getting an exceptional product. Disappointed, I went ahead & made a selection based on what she said that they had: green hydrangeas, pink hyacinths and white tulips. I told her that I wanted a short & compact arrangement (as opposed to tall & loose). I called on a Tuesday. I told her that I would like them delivered on Friday morning. She then told me that Friday is delivery day, so she could not guarantee that these flowers chosen today would be available on Friday. So, I told her that if these particular type & color was not available on Friday, to use the same caliber of blooms (not inferior blooms) in these same 3 colors, and that if they had yellow or orange roses, that I would like those as well....and, I told her that I did NOT want any Casablanca lilies because they are so messy when their stamens begin to decay & fall off of the flower. Regarding delivery, she said that if I wanted to guarantee a morning delivery, that it would be double the usual delivery fee: $40 (!!!) for a local/Pasadena delivery. I agreed to pay, as it was important for my friend to receive the gift on the morning of her birthday. Today my friend sent me a photo of the Jacob Maarse arrangement that I had sent. My friend described it as "beautiful." When I saw the photo, I was shocked. The arrangement was tall & loos, rather than short & compact. It had primarily Casablanca lilies which I expressly emphasized that I did not want, & some other purple (a color I had not chosen) kind of azalea-looking flower. The green hydrangea, and pink hyacinths were included as well as white tulips, which were so much longer than the other tall blooms, that they hung out to the side and looked ridiculous. There was a LOT of greenery (i.e. cheap "filler") Just out of curiosity, I called today, a week after I had ordered from them. I went through my usual questions, and ....surprise: I got exactly the same answers that I got last week. Same flowers, same colors. One improvement however, when I asked this salesperson what the cost of a guaranteed morning delivery would be: she replied that it would be $25, twice their normal delivery price to a local Pasadena address. So not $40 as the previous salesperson charged me. I realize that I am extremely particular, and have very high expectations. I search for companies which I can depend on to deliver a high-end product---those can be difficult to find. So perhaps I am being too critical. I will certainly continue to give them a few more opportunities to improve their service & product. I very much hope that my experience was a one-time disappointment & that it will not become their "new" (mediocre) standard.
