8 people at table. It was chaos. My plate came first. Last plate was 30 minutes later. Haddock was called snapper by waitress so Haddock sat for 15 minutes and cooled because no one "ordered" snapper. My flounder, which should be light and delicate tasting, was very strong fishy tasting, like much time had passed since it last swam. The "fresh" fish counter stinks, and the odor hits you in the face the moment you open the door. My diet coke refill turned into a Dr. Pepper (which was possibly the drink of the stranger at the adjacent table since the waitress took his and my identical glasses back to be filled at the same time). The drink was about 80% ice so two sips and it was empty again. Food was ok. Variety was ok. Sides choices were limited. I detest slaw, so I asked for a cup of fruit. That never came. My brother-in law asked for two servings of slaw instead of fries. He got two plates of fries and slaw and was charged for it. The building is a dump, but you can tell that from the outside, so no surprises there. Onion based hush puppies were slightly over cooked. Five on my tab ran $75 with a couple of domestic beers and a long island ice tea. Yeah, two stars is generous, but it's fresh seafood in WV. That in itself presents its own challenges to overcome.

I love this place! It is really unique and you get a great view of the river. The food here is amazing too, forget red lobster, this place actually has super fresh seafood and the prices are very reasonable. The crab dip is a free appetizer and it is wonderful! Definitely the best seafood restaurant in the Charleston area

This place has the best Fresh Seafood in the Charleston, WV area! I'm not typically a huge fan of fried seafood, but this place has mastered it. The breading is perfectly seasoned and doesn't over power the food, and nice and light!

No soap in the women's bathroom. Freeze dried french fries, overcooked hush puppies (no, they were not well cooked - fried so hard that they were inedible), overcooked clams, and crab cake had too much celery - that is all that you tasted. Stick with the fish and crab legs. Owner was not on site so I spoke with him on the phone. When we checked out, he must of decided to come but then hid in the kitchen located away from the cash register and did not acknowledge us, did not speak to us, nothing. What a shame. Our family has came here since 2004 and never had a bad experience. Where else can you enjoy patio seating along the river with good food and drinks?! And this restaurant has been part of this area for years. Thank goodness the service was great.

I have lived in/near Charleston all my life and I've never stepped foot inside the Fresh Seafood Restaurant in Jefferson because, let's face it, from the outside it's not somewhere you want to be. If you can even find it at all. BUT after visiting the restaurant I can definitely say, "Don't judge a book by its cover." I was still questioning my decision to make this my husband's and my 'lunch date' place of the month, however after walking up the stairs I was pleasantly surprise by a decent river view, alabet the rain, and I felt like we had stepped foot in a seaside restaurant at the beach. The food was DELICIOUS, fresh, and expertly cooked. The prices were very reasonable as well. The staff was equally as impressive knowledgeable and courteous, which is hard to find anymore. To say we were impressed is an understatement. We will return again and again - and encourage everyone who reads this to do the same.
