This store is so much greater than you will expect. Don't be deterred by the old building, these folks take great care of their fish and plants and even the teens who work there are enthusiastic EXPERTS at fish keeping. Greta selection and very fair pricing! I'm especially impressed with the blends of freshwater fish, not putting incompatible (territorial) fish with community schooling tanks, but also not limiting themselves to one species/breed per tank!

The service was not great at all. I netted my own african cichlids as they seem to prioritize marine fish for customers. The fish they sold me (Cichlids, a bichir, and a pleco) were absolutely devastated with ich. I have to admit they had an amazing selection of fish and very good prices. Its a great place but be very wary of their conditions and store practices, also be very pushy with the employees otherwise you will be in the store for 3+ hours like me for a few fish.

A great store. They keep separate water systems for different categories of fish, and have an extensive quarantine for fish showing signs of disease. With so many irresponsible stores around who don't take this precaution, this is very refreshing. Add to that their great selection, and you have a spot that's definitely worth checking out.

I buy most of my saltwater/reef supplies and livestock here. They have a good selection of healthy creatures and I have not had any issues with survival once they're in my home tank (which unfortunately has not been the case with other fish stores in the area). Their staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help out.

New in the area and started visiting local aquarium shops. Was told by a few people to check out The Fish Store. I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon was greeted by a young lady who was very polite and cheerful. The store looked well stocked but saw only display tanks. I was told the fish room was in the back. I walked to the back and was met by a wave of heat it had to be 90 degrees back there. I noticed all the employees were soaked obviously they weren't swimming but sweating LOL. Fish room was huge fairly well stocked noticed many off the fish looked sickly I saw Ich, fin rot, hole in head if you have a sick fish go there they will have an example in their tanks so you can confirm what you have. I wandered around a bit and asked where the tanks that were for sale were? I was directed to the very back of the fish room where I saw a few larger tanks for sale and was amazed they weren't cracked or broken because clearly a bomb had gone off back there. I expected super low pricing as this is a barebones operation but was flabbergasted at how high the prices were. I had visited other stores that week that were beautiful and found their pricing far less for far better quality. I was leaving and noticed multiple cameras in the ceiling on the walls etc... so I jokingly asked an employee had they been robbed before? The employee replied the cameras are so the owner can watch them and make sure they are staying busy. I laughed and said is the owner not in the store and the employee pointed to a man who was dressed like he was going deep sea fishing. I was going to go ask him why his pricing was so much more than other local stores but he was busy talking to an employee. So the short of the review is Huge store, hot as hell, sick fish, creepy peepy owner LOL.

They have the largest selection of salt water fish/corals in the area. Fish look very healthy. Ashley provided me the best customer service I've ever experienced at any fish store. She even hung around and helped me after the store closed. She was really knowledgeable and she really cares for the well being of all their fish. I got a great deal for a very healthy baby blue tang today. Also, I saw customers' tanks that they were fishsitting...so I'm planing to have them ship my fish to me when I move to texas in december.

Prices are a way too high compared to other lfs. Some of the employees are wonderful! Very helpful. The hours of operation are kind ridiculous. Closing at 5? So anyone who works until 5 is screwed until the weekend.

This is a great fish store. I wish they stayed open later on the weekends. I have wanted to go there several times on the weekends only to realize they're already closed. The fish are healthy. I've never had problems with fish dying right away or bringing sickness to my tank.

Bought $70 pump got it home and it wouldn't fit in compartment on my tank. I didn't even plug it in. Took it back the next day and The Fish Store would not refund my money. I was going to take store credit but they told me credit is only good for "dry goods." I could have bought this pump from Amazon but chose to go here to support local business. Won't be going back.

"Atlanta aquarium" off pleasant hill rd is the best store in ga. Great selection on saltwater here, little selection on freshwater. There are better stores that have better pricing. I love the huge selection though! I want the service to be a little better and the pricing.

I can only speak to the marine fish and reef hobbyist but this store is a pretty good and one of the largest in the Atlanta area. They stock quite a bit of hardware which is a bit unusual but they also have a ton of livestock. Everyone I've dealt with over the years has been great but I usually know exactly what I'm after when I go in so there hasn't been a lot of questions asked. I've given 4 starts because the place can be a bit of a mess sometimes and it doesn't take long at all for them to get too busy to deal with customer's in a timely manner. I can't really blame the place for not having 5 people on staff at all time but when they're busy, the wait time can be a little long to get help.

Somewhat cheap, great selection. Great store, great owner. Has potential as a great fish store but their focus mainly lies in freshwater. Their saltwater tanks are ridiculously overpriced and need maintenance. They offer monthly subscriptions for amazing coupons and a chance to win a $100 in store credit each month. So you're bound to win sooner or later. They have amazing equipment and tanks for sale. Their staff are very knowledgeable and will point you to the right direction. Their freshwater inverts, plants, and fish are what I believe are the hit of the store. Their saltwater, as i've mentioned before has high prices (most and not ALL) overall is dirty and can use some scrubbing. Their corals are just everywhere and weirdly priced. They don't have a great policy for saltwater tanks either. Their saltwater display tank is crazy amazing, makes me wonder why not a lot of effort is put in their saltwater tanks. Overall, great place to visit.

One of the team members, Branton, understood my anxiety and took me aside to explain the process of maintaining and caring for a tank. He was detailed, kind, and patient with my questions. He went over materials verbally and written, and made sure that I was confident before I left with my equipment. Great experience. Great people. And they were so kind to let my son watch them feed the sharks and bigger fish at the back of the store.

This store can quickly turn around from it being welcoming to a place you would never visit. As a saltwater aquarium beginner I was extremely excited to start. My partner and I went in and spoke to a young lady to see what was needed to initiate our cycle. We got live/ dry rock along with sand. She also suggested premixed salt water, which we though was a great idea since we're beginners. The day after we tested the water to see the salinity level and it was low..??? the result of it was 1.020 yet when we did research and spoke to other aquatics they recommended something between 1.023-1.026/ online research stated 1.021-1.026. Hmm which explains why the store may have some dead fishes in their cells. TRAVIS in store solution for us not having enough salt from their water was to just mix more of the same purchased water (makes no sense) we then made a call after to speak to the owner and was told we could not speak to him. Travis instead called and overall was very rude and redundant with the conversation. He told us if we felt like the water wasn't right to not come back rather than correcting their mistake and ended the call. In all if you're considering this store I would advise somewhere else, prices and customer service is way better.

Good fish store with great selection of tropical and saltwater fish. They sometimes have cool exotics like blind cave tetras. Great selection of plants as well, and one of the only places I've found to sell large plants. Aquarium supplies like filters and such are very expensive here, however; better off getting these elsewhere.

Great fish at this store. I have been here over 10 times now. The fish here are very healthy and well cared for, and the aquatic plants are great. I have purchased Endlers, guppies, Khuli loaches, Panda Corys, Rhombo barbs, neon tetras from here and all are doing well, has been over 6 months now. I also purchased a myriad of plants. The staff is very knowledgeable and great at explaining about the fish and how to care for them. You do have to get their attention as they can get busy at this store. I like how they are very honest with their advice. They educated me in the beginning not to over purchase the quantity of fish until my filter was established after a month or two, I really appreciated the honest advice. I highly recommend this store, they are GREAT!!!

My wife paid Patrick from The Fish store to set up my custom saltwater tank as a birthday present. It took multiple trips due to inferior workmanship on my custom tank ( not purchased from the fish store). He did a great job plumbing my tank. Unfortunately 2 days later my custom tank came apart and caused everyone's worst nightmare. Even though I didn't buy the tank from him he offered a great discount on a replacement tank out of kindness. It is very much appreciated!!!

Small, niche, and stocked with a lot of stuff an aquarium hobbyist looks for. Feels a bit uncomfortable when you first walk in, due to the crowded entry area, but worth pushing through it to see what they have to offer.

The staff seemed to be helpful and nice, but the holding tanks for livestock where just gross in my opinion. I'm really big on a clean store and livestock displayed to purchase and this was just not the case. I can stay I would be very hesitant to buy any livestock here. If I was to purchase here everything would be quarantined before it ever went in to any of my display tanks.

After reading the comments I was skeptical about going but I did anyway. Everyone was very nice from the time we walked through the door we were greeted and asked if we needed anything. We had questions and the gentleman was very willing to answer them all, he also recommended bringing a sample of our water for them to test. The fish selection is good especially if your interested in saltwater fish, they had sharks as well. I will definitely do business with them again. Both workers there were very friendly, overall nice place.

The Fish Store is my favorite place to go to get fish and coral! I love their staff and facility also the amount of variety they have in livestock as well as products! It can take a while to get your purchase if it is livestock because if you are behind another person with life stock it takes a sec to catch, bag and tag the fish or inverts. This is the best fish store left in Seattle. They have an orphanage tank and will only charge you 25 cent for the bag if you choose to adopt. They have both fresh and saltwater fish. The only reason why I didn't give 5 star is because most of their stock are smaller fish and I'm an Arowana, Flowerhorn, Bichir keeper and hope they would sell more predatory freshwater fish. I did buy my Fahaka Puffer fish from them though. He was still a baby at 2" he is about 5" now. Check here first before buying at Little Amazon.

However I'm a primarily freshwater guy, and they're lacking in freshwater, few freshwater fish, and the ones they have are all the common, everyday fish (Angels, Guppies, platys, GloFish, tetras, African lake cichlids, and a few bettas). Very expensive prices for fish and plants that are not in very good shape (All the freshwater tanks had a powerful current and was tossing the fish around.) They should stick with salt, where they are excellent in!

Hi. I am a customer. I am kinda the guy who contributes to your paycheck. For our wedding anniversary, my wife and I took a trip out of town for food and fish shopping! This is our shared hobby and we were pretty excited to venture outside the regular offerings of our LFS (local fish store). We already spent almost $300 at another aquarium shop and I'm happy to report my fish easily made it home, back over the pass, about 4-4.5 hours after bagging them. We went to "The Fish Store" based on the decent google reviews. Parking was a pain until we circled the block and found plenty of room in the rear. The employees never greeted us, but were very polite when saying "excuse me" to go get fish for other customers. During our ~20min visit, my wife and I were eventually the only customers in the store. At this time one of the employees got a nice solid lean against the wall and busted out his cell phone. Yeah buddy!! It's break time! This was in stark comparison to the experience I had with a local competitor where I almost had to bat off employees who were very eager to help their customers. See my review on the others. Prices were high in comparison to the other shop. The employees didn't really care to greet or say hi to us (even my local PetCo has a policy to greet every customer THE SECOND they walk in the door, which is awesome!). It's too bad because we were eyeing some of their larger, adult fish (Oscar & Clown Loaches).

Even though this fish store is quite a distance from our house, it is the only place we will go to buy fish and fish supplies. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable and genuinely interested in helping you figure out what will work for your tank. In the past when we have gotten fish from other places they have not lasted long and we were almost at a point of throwing our tank away because it made us so sad to see our fish die! After speaking to the people here and buying fish from them, we are happy to report that our tank is alive and well with some fish that are now almost four years old :)

If you enjoy fish, you HAVE TO come here. They have sea creatures that you will not find anywhere else. They have SHARKS, Moray Eels, and even Lionfish. Great stock of corals and live rock too. Even if you don't keep fish, you should stop by; it's basically like visiting an aquarium, except free! They are 99% saltwater, though they do have a small freshwater section in the back. I've chatted with the owner multiple times. He doesn't do this to make a profit, he does it because he loves aquatic life and loves to stock rare things you cannot find anywhere else. At one point, they had an Albino Triggerfish - the only one in existence in the country. Even if you aren't in the market for something crazy exotic, they have all sorts of cool "basic" saltwater fish like Clowns and Tangs.

This is a great place if you are into the fish hobby. This was my second time coming to the store and was just looking around. When I spotted koi aAngel fish. I found a staff member to help me out the price on the tank read 12.99 for koi angel fish while the large were 19.99. I told him the koi angel fish had the longer tail but he did not want to listen. Until he had to look it up on the website. Overall the trip was nice wish they had more than one gold fish though

This place was veeery cool. They have such a nice selection of fish. They even had a lung fish in the back. They also have a great selection of bettas. I always judge a fish store based on how they care for bettas. Cuz yeah bettas can survive sitting in dirty cups. It's cheap and easy to keep them like that. The fish Store doesnt keep them like that. The Fish Store keeps them in appropriate little display tanks. With filtered and heated water and even a plant in with them. Its nice and just lets me know that they put more effort into the wellbeing of their fish. Even the ones that could survive neglect. They have a ton of tank necessities too. From decore to actual hardware. And they have INCREDIBLE tank displays up in the front of the store. I loved looking at the various set ups they had.

My wife and I come here regularly for all our aquarium needs. Dan the owner is a wealth of experience and information, and he brings in good healthy fish you don't see in other stores. I'm adding a picture of an appistogramma I just bought there yesterday. His store may not look as fancy and as polished as other fish stores, but that's because his passion is more for the hobby than just trying to sell things. His prices are great, and he has the best selection of tanks in the area. He is also the only local store carrying live food cultures. I absolutely recommend stopping by! Parking is in the back and you can enter through the back door.

So I went on Monday to buy some food to see if I could rescue a wrasse that was in bad shape. Never used the food because the wrasse was dead on Tuesday morning. The place is close on Tuesdays so I couldn’t return the food on Tuesday. I did go on Wednesday and they didn’t give a refund because is “their policy” (I was making a return in less than 48 hours). As you can see on the image of the receipt attached it doesn’t said anything about frozen food. They told me that that was the policy and I ask if the policy was on their website, they said that the website is in construction and they don’t have any written policy. Looks like they don’t understand customer service. I you mistreat your clients they are not coming back. The place is huge and has a great selection of fish, but the customer service is terrible. Also who in retail closes at 7 PM on weekdays? I been is this hobby for over 6 years and I never been in a LFS with this poor customer service.

My 150 gallon aquarium busted a bottom seal April 16th, 2018. My koi where being kept here while I purchased a used aquarium from The Fish Store. Now, they are all three missing, and no one will call back and tell me anything. I've been trying for a week and a half now...it's so difficult to understand why. They are very large, valuable koi. My heart is broken. I’ve been deceived and stolen from. I’ve spent a lot of money here, and my koi are quite valuable. Stolen? Sold? Why? This store has a large amount of fish varieties. They have corals and some more exotic species , like sharks. Basic aquarium needs can be purchased here as well. Don't be afraid to ask questions and take your time looking around.
