If you’re taking the time to create an amazing seafood dish you have to start with the freshest ingredients. It doesn’t get any better (unless you own a fishing trawler) than Ghent seafood. Always fresh never frozen like chain stores try to pass off as fresh. The staff is also very knowledgeable not only about the product but how to prepare it as well. Spend a few dollars more and go to Ghent if you want it fresh , don’t waste your money on the illusion of “fresh” from a big box store because frozen is frozen no matter how quick it’s supposidly done

Welton's is a great place to get some nice,fresh seafood. Definitely more pricey, but the quality is there. IF you get the clams/mussels, he wont count too much

A wonderful place to get truly fresh fish. Whille they did not have squid available the day we went, the rest of their fish looked wonderful. We would highly recommend if you live in the Ghent area and you like fish, definitely check out Ghent Seafood.

This rating is not reflection of fish quality. Several times I have been in to buy fish and have noticed that there's a lot of multi tasking going on during the preparation of my fish. For example, handling the fish without gloves is one thing, but to pause and answer your cell phone only to go back to touching my sushi grade tuna, is another. I want to eat my sushi grade fish without worrying that it is contaminated by whatever is living on your cell phone or any other non-fish object that is touched during the process. Please be mindful of handling the fish in a sanitary manner. I'd hate to miss out on the delicious fish you sell. Thanks.

Great place to go if you want oysters. The place is very clean every time my wife and I visit. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even let us sample some of the oysters. The quality of fish appears to be really good, but we mainly go there for the oysters.

Welton's of Ghent is the best seafood market in Hampton Roads. The owner only has the freshest seafood and the best cuts. He can tell you when and where it was caught and how to cook it. A real treasure for Norfolk!
