Make reservations or there may be a punishing wait on the weekends. Oysters are popular too. Good specials on those and shrimp during happy hour. Friendly staff.

As someone who can't eat shellfish (but loves them), seafood joints are a mixed bag for me. Many focus so heavily on shellfish that the actual food isn't very good. Not here. The special of the day was Mahi Mahi, and I had the Atlantic Salmon (eat the closest foods first!). It was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. Service was terrific too, despite how busy it was.

For all the good reviews online, I expected much better from this place. The food was nothing to write home about and the presentation of it was even less interesting; I've put more effort into the look of my food on a random weekday. Add to this the fact that their scallops gave me food poisoning, and you've got one bad experience. We even went back to mention that I had gotten food poisoning, and the manager couldn't have been less apologetic, almost seemed like it happened all the time. Would not recommend.

This place is fantastic! Angry Mussels!! Are the amazing starter! They come with garlic toast make sure you enjoy and use the sauce in your entré the magic is in the sauce. The corn muffins are fantastic, not too sweet and the butter makes them even better. Tried the “lobstah” rolls, they’re okay for people who like their style not my cup of tea. The crab cakes are also amazing. Now the best I had was the fried lobster tail with ribs and mashed potatoes...fantastic! They have a great atmosphere, I always bring my family when they’re in town and they love it. They are on the pricey side I paid about $120 just for two of us but we paid for quality food and beer.

It's a cozy little place that hasn't ever let me down. On our last visit, we had the pufferfish "wings." Man, those meaty little fish were delicious. For our main courses we had the catch of the day, and a fried oyster basket with a side of fried cod. Everything was to perfection. In fact, not only was the fish-and-chips style cod delicious, it was even better than I had imagined beer battered cod could ever be; it blew my mind! Our server was excellent, courteous and super friendly; couldn't have been better. Obviously, being a seafood place, it's not the cheapest place to eat, but prices are on par for nicer restaurants in the area.

Generally the food is good. Consistency is key. Go in one time and the fish and chips are perfect. Next time salty. Staff friendly. Recommend you go early afternoon during the work week to really enjoy the atmosphere. Then try on a Friday or Saturday - usually packed. You will need to bring your patience.

I'm an out-of-towner so I walked in and asked how long it was going to be to be seated and I was told 20 to 25 minutes. The hostess then told me that if i went to the bar i could have immediate seating. I made it in time for happy hour which ends at 7 p.m. I got the special for the night which was grilled swordfish over a bed of potatoes and I have to say it was some of the best swordfish I've had in a long time the service was really fast even though the restaurant was really busy. The bartenders were great and very courteous and we're always asking if we needed something else. I would highly recommend this place to others the food was delicious atmosphere was wonderful and the beer was great!

We were in the mood for some fried goodness and that’s exactly what we got! The atmosphere is pretty chill and the staff was super friendly and answered all our questions. Their calamari was great and their crab cakes were so clean (haven’t had a crab cake that didn’t have a tiny piece of plastic in it in a while). The fries were, of course, spot on! The fried lobster wasn’t the greatest but the sides were pretty good. The tiny muffins you get in the beginning were pretty tasty and the right size to not fill you up before you eat. Lastly, the key lime pie was pretty great! The crust was a bit hard but taste-wise

The clam "chowdah" was great and the mini corn muffins they bring to the table are surprisingly sweet and served with maple butter. Had the cod entree and it was perfection. Glad my co-worker and I took a chance on this place. The reviews don't lie. ❤

I had eaten at Ford's twice before. The first time was excellent, the second time a few mishaps, but I thought I'd give them a third try. We decided to order through their online service and places for $70 worth of food to pick up at a specified time. When my husband arrived and provided order details he was met with questioning faces. They could not find the order number, the items, the name on the order.... there was no record besides the receipt I had and the credit card authorization. They offered to prepare it immediatly but I didn't have time to wait an additional 20 minutes. My feeling is that if you offer an online ordering service you should be able to receive and deliver that order, hence the two star rating for tonight's experience.

First of all, the service is amazing and the staff is very friendly and polite. I really enjoyed dining at this Ford's Fish Shack. The food was pretty good and a bit pricy. I tried their devil's eggs and they were huge and tasted pretty good. Their crab claw appetizer was okay. I would have liked it better if it was served warm with butter instead. I ordered the fried oyster meal, and that was delicious. I recommend trying it at least once to see if it's a place you would go to. I am not sure if I will return.

Tried the Maryland style steamed crabs to go (they only do carry out for crabs). Picked up 2 dozen and they were delicious. Steamed fresh, nice and full. Just the right amount of Old Bay. For Northern Virginia this is definitely one of the best places to get steamed crabs. Been to Fords before (all three locations) and they never disappoint.

When my wife and I arrived we were given the option of the heated outdoor patio or a 15-20 minute wait for inside. It's about 35f outside so we choose to wait for a spot inside. 50 minutes later we're told we have a seat and they take us to the patio. Needless to say we were not happy and decided to go elsewhere.

Stopped in for a Sunday brunch. I had the lobster roll (Connecticut Style) and the deviled eggs. We also got the kids French toast and the regular French toast. Everything was incredible! Being from Vermont and a New Englander I am picky on breakfast foods and Lobster. Both of which were great! They use real maple syrup! Enough said. Prices and the staff were great as well!

They offer a military discount but only if you are in uniform—And that’s one of the most retarded policies I have ever come across. What military servicemen wants to come eat dinner after hours and wear their uniform—especially if they’re out with their families? I would say to the owners: either offer a military discount or don’t, but don’t tell your servers to tell us that you only offer to people in uniform “because you would be doing it all the time given how many military people are in the area“—that explanation makes your policy even more foolish.

Great seafood is never cheap. Best lobster roll outside of New England. Service was friendly, attentive and professional. Food was fast, fresh, and in good portions. Besides the lobster roll (I had the Grand Mainer, fantastic!) The chowder is excellent, the added zest of cheddar and a little spice made it a pleasant surprise. Totally worth it. I'll have to save room next time for dessert, which I'm sure will be great.

My son requested Fords Fish Shack for his Birthday dinner. He loves the food and it’s keto friendly. We made reservations through Ana and when we arrived had to wait to be seated at a nice booth. Mike G was our server helped by other staff and was very knowledgeable about the specials and friendly throughout. For appetizers deviled eggs and guacamole. Both excellent. I ordered the special salmon, my son the lobster tails and my wife did the add on fish and scallops s again all excellent. Ben the manager stopped by to say hello which was a nice touch. A gem of a restaurant in Ashburn and a very strong recommendation.

Went in for the first time on a rainy Tuesday and it was awesome! Only down side was the wait...but they can't do anything about people not wanting to leave! They have a bar area where you can sit to have dinner as first come first serve. The bar tender was also very busy but was quick to offer the happy hour menu. Sean our server at the table was attentive, gave great recomendations for the food, and not once did I feel like we were left not taken care of. The food was delicious served hot and quickly!!! We made a reservation a few hours ahead of time as we would only be in town for a few hours. We were seated at the WORST table. This table shouldn't exist -- I was literally belly to the table because servers and customers kept knocking into my chair due to lack of space (and I'm a pretty small person). We asked our server about a particular appetizer, specifying we didn't like raw oysters and didn't want anything too big (it cost $60) - she said it only contained "a few" of each item. She specifically said that it "would get us started but wouldn't fill us up." It was huge and we (2 adults) would have been stuffed if the food was good. It also included 10 raw oysters. The entree came before we finished and the server literally tried to put the plate on top of our appetizer. Service - 0/10. Food 4/10. NOT worth the cost.

A couple weeks ago we went to this place after reading all of these “great” reviews and it was a total disappointment! I honestly think that reviews were written by managers or their friends. The food was bad. We ordered a lobster roll, which had too much mayonnaise, lobster Cobb salad - lots of bacon and blue cheese, I couldn’t even taste any other ingredients and couldn’t finish even half of it. We also ordered oysters and crab cakes - they were just ok, nothing special about it, oysters were a little dirty. We had to look for server to ask for mignonette (they just forgot about it) or a fork, water... I also asked about high tray for oysters, because we had a baby at the table and server said they didn’t have it, but actually when we were leaving other customers had them. I want to note that when we came to the restaurant it was not busy at all, we ordered oysters first, so it was a lie. So if you want to spend over $100 and have a great experience - just consider a different restaurant.

Little disappointed in the ashburn store as they dont have the frozen lemonade to make the signature fantastic blueberry lemonade and they didnt tell me until after they made the drink. This was the whole reason to come to fords, I guess I have to stick to the south riding location. Made a reservation at 8pm and didn't get sat till 840. So much for a reservation. And at no point did they come and apologize for the extended wait.

Great seafood is never cheap. Best lobster roll outside of New England. Service was friendly, attentive and professional. Food was fast, fresh, and in good portions. Besides the lobster roll (I had the Grand Mainer, fantastic!) The chowder is excellent, the added zest of cheddar and a little spice made it a pleasant surprise. Totally worth it. I'll have to save room next time for dessert, which I'm sure will be great.

My son requested Fords Fish Shack for his Birthday dinner. He loves the food and it’s keto friendly. We made reservations through Ana and when we arrived had to wait to be seated at a nice booth. Mike G was our server helped by other staff and was very knowledgeable about the specials and friendly throughout. For appetizers deviled eggs and guacamole. Both excellent. I ordered the special salmon, my son the lobster tails and my wife did the add on fish and scallops s again all excellent. Ben the manager stopped by to say hello which was a nice touch. A gem of a restaurant in Ashburn and a very strong recommendation.

Not sure if we will ever return, not because of the food but because of the service. We get seated in the darkest little corner of an empty restuarant. When asking the waiter to be moved to another table with more light we got attitude. Dinning out is not all about the food, its the experience. You did not deliver that! Sorry.

We made a reservation a few hours ahead of time as we would only be in town for a few hours. We were seated at the WORST table. This table shouldn't exist -- I was literally belly to the table because servers and customers kept knocking into my chair due to lack of space (and I'm a pretty small person). We asked our server about a particular appetizer, specifying we didn't like raw oysters and didn't want anything too big (it cost $60) - she said it only contained "a few" of each item. She specifically said that it "would get us started but wouldn't fill us up." It was huge and we (2 adults) would have been stuffed if the food was good. It also included 10 raw oysters. The entree came before we finished and the server literally tried to put the plate on top of our appetizer. Service - 0/10. Food 4/10. NOT worth the cost.

Little disappointed in the ashburn store as they dont have the frozen lemonade to make the signature fantastic blueberry lemonade and they didnt tell me until after they made the drink. This was the whole reason to come to fords, I guess I have to stick to the south riding location. Made a reservation at 8pm and didn't get sat till 840. So much for a reservation. And at no point did they come and apologize for the extended wait.

Food was ehh... Had a lobster roll with a side of scallops. Scallops were cooked well but tasted like they had been cooked in a dirty pan. Lobster roll was good but a little light on the lobster. Wife had a shrimp platter and wasnt impressed, fried shrimp still had a lot of shell on the shrimp and batter didnt have the greatest flavor. I wouldn't go back since I had pretty high expectations going in but it wasn't the worst I'd ever had.

I love all things seafood and Ford’s Fish Shack does not disappoint. It’s New England style seafood so be aware of that in case you prefer another type. They are also very busy on the standard eating out nights so be prepared for a wait. They don’t take reservations but they do allow you to put your name in the list if you call ahead and I’d recommend that if you’re going on a busy night. You may still have to wait when you arrive but be patient. It’s worth it. Enjoy!

My wife and I were starving so we ordered right away. We got their half dozen Blue Point Oysters, Foot Long Lobster Roll and Salmon Salad. Everything was extremely good! I've never been so full in my entire life. That foot long Lobster Roll is no joke. I could only finish half of it. Our waiter was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. He got all our orders correct and our to us quickly. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained. My wife and I had a great lunch and we look forward to coming back soon.

Had lunch there today with some business colleagues. I had the lobster bisque which was quite good. Extremely rich. In addition I had the Oyster PoorBoy which had 3 oysters in it so it seemed quite small as compared to what I got in New Orleans several weeks ago for less money. My colleagues had the 2 lobster special which he loved and the other one had a blackened chicken salad which he said is good. Food is always good here.

This is my go-to restaurant in Ashburn and one of my favorites in the county. Service is usually really good. Draft beer selection is solid. It's not a huge restaurant so it can get busy. I recommend going before noon if you're going for lunch. I highly recommend the shrimp or fish tacos

I loved it when I visited 2 years ago but it really changed. Service, Food and the nice cozy feeling inside have dropped. Really disappointed and won't go there again. Waiter forgot to gives us Knife and Fork and didn't even check back so we could let him know. So we had to get up and look for a other waiter instead and ask him to bring it. If was on a weekday around 3pm so not really busy at all. It's sad because as I said the service two years ago was amazing

Got terrible food poisoning because they served us bad fish. And gave us a rusted out bucket that was flaking off on to the food. My boyfriend was puking for two days, and couldn't eat for three. I was lucky to not have eaten as much of the fish and was only in pain for a day. Our roommate told us, once we were well enough to leave the bathroom floor, that he also felt ill after he ate at Ford's and never went back. Don't eat at Ford's. It's not worth the risk

No Longer a Good Restaurant I was previously a fan of this restaurant. But, my past two visits have been substandard and I will not visit again! I took my girlfriend there to lunch, MLK Day, it took us over 45 minutes to get our food! It turns out they lost the order entirely and had no idea it was even missing. Our waiter didn't have a clue, his service had been very shaky from the beginning (no bread until we asked, unresponsive entirely). It wasn't until we insisted that a manager came out to apologize and had to resubmit the order. Once received, my girlfriend's broiled lobster was very undercooked. This visit, and the previous visit (wherein I received a crab omelette with virtually no crab) officially makes me an ex-customer of Ford's Fish Shack. It's not nearly the place it previously was.

I went to dinner yesterday night and couldn’t believe the poor service I was given. Did not get a straw until the end of my meal, Let alone I ordered crab legs they came served with potato salad that I did not receive until my meal had been placed on the table 15 mins ago. My boyfriend and I tried this place out because the reviews were so good. When we got there it was a longer wait than we expected but we didn’t mind because that’s usually a sign that a place is really good if a lot of people are there. We got fish and chips and it was by far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, better than the ones I had in England! The cornbread they give you was the best cornbread I’ve ever had and my family is southern. Even the coleslaw was amazing. The staff were all super nice and stopped by to make sure everything was ok. One of the best customer service experience I’ve had at a restaurant. Definitely coming back for sure!

First time visiting and I was pleasantly surprised. The Blackberry oysters we're exactly as described and absolutely delicious. My mom's order was incorrect when delivered but the server fixed it and the fried oyster and scallop seafood basket is now a favorite. I had the special of the day, Swordfish and again very pleasantly surprised at the flavor and presentation of the dish. Don't get me started on the s'mores ice cream dessert, I'd come back just for that!

Even with a reservation made long in advance, they squeezed six of us into a booth and would not put us at the nearby round table because it was only for parties of 7 or 8. This was our first visit and we were satisfied. I ordered Ford's fish tacos. The fish was slim like a fish stick and it was piled with lettuce, tomatoes and radish. The fish was flavorful which almost made up for how little fish there actually was in the taco. My husband ordered fish and chips. He sent it back because it was quite greasy, enough to make you a little nauseous. He ended up getting the traditional Lobster roll. We also got salmon from the kids menu which is a good portion size. My 2 yr old enjoyed it. Though the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, the food isn't something that we would come back for.

Went for brunch today and it was a mess. The restaurant wasn’t very busy but it took 20 minutes just to get water. Our server was having a bad day and you could tel he didn’t care what service we received. The crab and spinach dip is literally just creamed spinach with maybe 1 claws worth of crab in it, barely any cheese. Do not get it you will be disappointed! The crab cakes were good but they were the only thing on my plate with seasoning. Breakfast potatoes were over cooked and didn’t even have salt or pepper and half of the poached eggs were so over done they were hard boiled. I’ve been here many times before and have never been disappointed so it’s sad that they couldn’t get it together today. Probably will not return because of the terrible service from both server and manager today and the terrible food.

Decided to give fords a second try. Wow! What a difference from last time to this. Had the Maine chips as a starter and both wife and i had the shrimp tacos with the kids having popcorn shrimp. The Maine chips though salty were really good the aoili added a good burst of flavor, could use more lobster meat though. The shrimp tacos were a hit both the wife and i throughly enjoyed them. Well seasoned, loads of shrimp, fresh slaw, I was content. The corn bread muffins with the sweet butter were a great addition. Overall though what won me over was the service, our staff was friendly, the owner came by to pay us a visit and we felt really welcomed. Price wise, looks like they updated their prices since our first visit. Looking forward to another visit soon

I do like this place. It is cozy with good food. My friends were in from the Midwest and I was able to take them for a nice lunch with plenty of coastal choices. I've enjoyed my visits. I try to skip popular days as it is packed with a huge wait. But it is worth it.

After 5 years of LOVING everything on the menu, I found the first disappointment. The spinach and crab dip, it doesn’t have crab!! To make it worse the chips were as bad a store brand Tostitos. So disappointing when everything has always been fantastic.

Ford's has a great atmosphere to enjoy food with family and friends. They bring fresh muffins when you get to your table and maple butter to go along with them. Yum! Their food is always great. We're big fans of the fish tacos and their fish and chips.

Great meal at ford's fish shack! Pictures are of the spinach and ceab dip, the corn bread muffins and the back of the menu. The lobstah rolls are $21 market price and were devoured. The scallop basket blackened was cooked perfectly and another future repeat pick. All was great and we will be back!

No Longer a Good Restaurant I was previously a fan of this restaurant. But, my past two visits have been substandard and I will not visit again! I took my girlfriend there to lunch, MLK Day, it took us over 45 minutes to get our food! It turns out they lost the order entirely and had no idea it was even missing. Our waiter didn't have a clue, his service had been very shaky from the beginning (no bread until we asked, unresponsive entirely). It wasn't until we insisted that a manager came out to apologize and had to resubmit the order. Once received, my girlfriend's broiled lobster was very undercooked. This visit, and the previous visit (wherein I received a crab omelette with virtually no crab) officially makes me an ex-customer of Ford's Fish Shack. It's not nearly the place it previously was.

I went to dinner yesterday night and couldn’t believe the poor service I was given. Did not get a straw until the end of my meal, Let alone I ordered crab legs they came served with potato salad that I did not receive until my meal had been placed on the table 15 mins ago. To top it off my crab legs were not steamed they were cold yet over cooked ! Fish Fords Shack used to be a fav on my list I no longer will be eating from this location.

Excellent place. I visited here with a group of people from work, several of the claim to not be into seafood or haven't had much before. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. The food was great, our waiter did a good job, and the place had a good atmosphere. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

I hesitated before ordering the fried oyster roll because most restaurants overcook the oysters, but ordered it anyway because I love fried oysters. They were perfect. Tender, good-sized, delicious. I will definitely be back.

Horrible customer service!! First they said wait was 15 min. 15 min passed and they said 20 more minutes and timed passed and still they said we needed to wait more. Employees disorganized and need to take more customer service training. We left and for them loosing a table of 12 didn't had any effect

My boyfriend and I tried this place out because the reviews were so good. When we got there it was a longer wait than we expected but we didn’t mind because that’s usually a sign that a place is really good if a lot of people are there. We got fish and chips and it was by far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, better than the ones I had in England! The cornbread they give you was the best cornbread I’ve ever had and my family is southern. Even the coleslaw was amazing. The staff were all super nice and stopped by to make sure everything was ok. One of the best customer service experience I’ve had at a restaurant. Definitely coming back for sure!

First time visiting and I was pleasantly surprised. The Blackberry oysters we're exactly as described and absolutely delicious. My mom's order was incorrect when delivered but the server fixed it and the fried oyster and scallop seafood basket is now a favorite. I had the special of the day, Swordfish and again very pleasantly surprised at the flavor and presentation of the dish. Don't get me started on the s'mores ice cream dessert, I'd come back just for that!

Excellent fish and other seafood. The salads are great too. Definitely avoid Friday and Saturday night and many other evenings because they are slammed. Even with a reservation made long in advance, they squeezed six of us into a booth and would not put us at the nearby round table because it was only for parties of 7 or 8. It made for a very uncomfortable dinner. Not worth it.

This was our first visit and we were satisfied. I ordered Ford's fish tacos. The fish was slim like a fish stick and it was piled with lettuce, tomatoes and radish. The fish was flavorful which almost made up for how little fish there actually was in the taco. My husband ordered fish and chips. He sent it back because it was quite greasy, enough to make you a little nauseous. He ended up getting the traditional Lobster roll. We also got salmon from the kids menu which is a good portion size. My 2 yr old enjoyed it. Though the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, the food isn't something that we would come back for.

Went for brunch today and it was a mess. The restaurant wasn’t very busy but it took 20 minutes just to get water. Our server was having a bad day and you could tel he didn’t care what service we received. The crab and spinach dip is literally just creamed spinach with maybe 1 claws worth of crab in it, barely any cheese. Do not get it you will be disappointed! The crab cakes were good but they were the only thing on my plate with seasoning. Breakfast potatoes were over cooked and didn’t even have salt or pepper and half of the poached eggs were so over done they were hard boiled. I’ve been here many times before and have never been disappointed so it’s sad that they couldn’t get it together today. Probably will not return because of the terrible service from both server and manager today and the terrible food.

Decided to give fords a second try. Wow! What a difference from last time to this. Had the Maine chips as a starter and both wife and i had the shrimp tacos with the kids having popcorn shrimp. The Maine chips though salty were really good the aoili added a good burst of flavor, could use more lobster meat though. The shrimp tacos were a hit both the wife and i throughly enjoyed them. Well seasoned, loads of shrimp, fresh slaw, I was content. The corn bread muffins with the sweet butter were a great addition. Overall though what won me over was the service, our staff was friendly, the owner came by to pay us a visit and we felt really welcomed.
