We were tired from our drive and we walked to the waterfront in Alexandria. We felt overwhelmed and just wanted a nice place to get some good food. We found it! The restaurant is divided into a bar side and a restaurant side. We sat in the restaurant side. The booths were private and comfortable. I ate the salmon sandwich on ciabatta bread. Wow! It was so delicious!!

I can’t say enough about this restaurant. We stopped for lunch and ended up having to leave early, they packed our meal up and sent with us and it was still hot and fresh and amazing when we got back to our hotel. It was the best crab legs and lobster we had ever eaten and that wasn’t even the best part. My son loves mussels and I don’t care for them so I ordered him some. The waiter recommended the red sauce. I have no idea how they make a sauce as amazing as it was. They brought bread to dip in it and it was literally one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. The mussels were even good. The staff was attentive and did a great job. Seriously if you have a chance stop by you won’t be disappointed.

To each their own. I was not thrilled with the food. It seemed greasy, but a lot of what I ordered was deep fried. I like the coziness. It makes for a decent date night. Overall, this was a one and done place to eat.

Fish Market is an icon from forever. That's why we were there. But is it just me or is it awfully pricey? My son had fried shrimp which was quite good with captain's fries and slaw. My New England Clam Chowder was mediocre honestly. Nice and thick but bland. The service was good. We were there at Happy Hour, but the food and drink selections were kinda meh. The bar and raw bar are fun. A nice crowd.

Fantastic food and great service! This was one of our favorite restaurants 30 years ago when we lived here and it is still a favorite! We were first seated next to a family with a child that kept kicking the back of the booth. Our server barely waited for us to say anything before he offered to move us. Our new booth was much more comfortable and relaxing making the meal very enjoyable. We walked down from our hotel so I'm not sure if there restaurant has parking but there is street parking and lots nearby.

I have been visiting this place with my family for a long time. Unfortunately they seem to be losing their niche which is why I am giving them 4 Star and hoping that someone would work to restore the reputation of this great restaurant. One of my all time favorite seafood in this restaurant is "fish and chips". But my last couple of visits have ended in disappointment. I have noticed that the portions are getting smaller (small cuts of cod) as well as overly greasier (to a point where you can't easy more than 2 pieces). Kids don't have many options on the menu either.

So being from the Midwest we are not able to get fresh seafood usually. So when on one of the coasts, seafood is a must! Ordered the Fisherman’s platter, which had fish, shrimp and scallops with fries. All were good, but I felt the scallops were the best I’ve ever had! Not rubbery, very soft and tasty. Sad there were only two on the plate! All in all, this would have been a 5-star, except I felt the portion size was less than the price should have suggested.

My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant. It was busy so I do recommend reservations. King Street is a nice street with lots of little shops so allow time to explore before or after. There is a trolley that runs up and down king street which makes it super easy to get to. The food is fabulous and the staff is really helpful. We had the boil and everything was wonderful. Strongly suggest a visit.

Fish Market Restaurant is my "have to go to" whenever I'm in DC!! I haven't been there in three years and the bartender, Todd, recognized me before I even sat down. They have a "happy hour" half price special for beers and food...oysters on the half shell, chicken wings, mini crab cakes, garlic shrimp!!! For those craving efficency, beer is available in 32 oz gobblets! The TVs have whatever sport you watch and they'll change it for you! Lot of locals and tourists for a good time!!!

I attended a large catered event, the limited menu provided was sufficient and it was tasty enough. The service was less than great, but to be fair, they looked short handed. For a group of 90+ people I only saw 2-3 staff. It took around 25min to serve a table and they never took away empty glasses or plates. By the time our table was fully served, my plate was cold. I imagine for smaller parties it's probably quite good.

Recommended by friends but had a horrible experience here yesterday. First, we sat on the balcony for about 15 minutes without service. No waiter, no one to apologize saying they were running behind.. nothing. We then decided to opt for the outdoor tables on the ground level. Walking past the hostess stand, we told the hostess about the incident and we wanted to change seats. She pointed to an outdoor seat in which we waited another 15 minutes for service. Finally, a waitress comes and grabs the drink order..only to wait another 10-15 for the drinks. Refills and the food never came so I decided to go inside to get it for myself. I walked into the manager who didn't really seem to care so much and something along the lines of "we must have forgot about you out there." Yeah, yeah you did. Complete disappointment.

The food was EXCELLENT, I cannot stress this enough. And if you have someone in your party that doesn't care for seafood, no problem - they have other dishes that are so delicious and they don't have that underlying taste of seafood. The decor and atmosphere is just perfect. It feels like you're in a restaurant at the bottom of a beautiful boat. The lighting is dark, the woods are dark in color, and you just feel like you're out to dinner on a beach vacation.

Food: We had a last minute meal here for seafood and maybe drinks. Loved the spot but just missed the seafood on display on ice visible from outside! Went with the server suggestion of the very popular lobster roll and was exactly what I was craving! For $23 it seems pricey, but it's a mound of fresh lobster chunks. I offered a friend a piece and the piece they grabbed was actually the claw meat (the whole thing. Ugh I was so sad). Personally I would have asked for a side of the dressing to add because I like it. Also, we started off with the clam chowder which was creamy and had plenty of clams! Topped it off with a cold beer and club soda with lime. Fair pricing for the drinks! Building: Was greeted by a hostess who gave me the option of the bar area or the restaurant area, I appreciated the opportunity! Bar area is dim lit with TVs and lively ambiance, restaurant area is well lit and modern with quaint decor. Staff: Hostess greeted us promptly and sat us in a booth in a nice quiet section. Server met us promptly with our menus and brought over drinks in a timely manner. Over all great experience here, as it was my very first time!

Food: We had a last minute meal here for seafood and maybe drinks. Loved the spot but just missed the seafood on display on ice visible from outside! Went with the server suggestion of the very popular lobster roll and was exactly what I was craving! For $23 it seems pricey, but it's a mound of fresh lobster chunks. I offered a friend a piece and the piece they grabbed was actually the claw meat (the whole thing. Ugh I was so sad). Personally I would have asked for a side of the dressing to add because I like it. Also, we started off with the clam chowder which was creamy and had plenty of clams! Topped it off with a cold beer and club soda with lime. Fair pricing for the drinks! Building: Was greeted by a hostess who gave me the option of the bar area or the restaurant area, I appreciated the opportunity! Bar area is dim lit with TVs and lively ambiance, restaurant area is well lit and modern with quaint decor. Staff: Hostess greeted us promptly and sat us in a booth in a nice quiet section. Server met us promptly with our menus and brought over drinks in a timely manner. Over all great experience here, as it was my very first time!

Absolutely a great experience for dinner. I had the Mushroom covered salmon with mixed grilled vegetables and herb potatoes. Awesome flavors. Complemented with two local IPAs and water. Had we had a few more hours, I would have complemented the whole dinner and beers with dessert. You must make this restaurant a culinary stop while visiting old town.

Had the salmon NLT, which was interesting. Their chips are literally home-made, which is commendable, but they weren't that great. The blackened shrimp were really good. Staff was friendly and helpful. A person at the table next to us had several food allergies. A senior member of the staff sat down with the person and designed a special meal for them. For that level of customer care alone, I would go back. I hope some of the other dishes live up to the promise of the customer service.

They have a great selection of oysters and seafood dishes. The wait staff was friendly and service of food was timely. I have to give Fish Market 5 stars for simply having great tasting fresh food. I am not much of a fish eating fan but when it is fresh, I will get outside of my comfort zone and try menu items that I typically do not try in my home town. I ordered the Redfish Etouffee and it was delicious. The menu items offered ranged from the soups and stews, starters, and salads but these are not your typical items. These were fresh fish items and were excellent. Seafood stew. Lobster bisque. Ahí tuna. These are but a few of the items. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in offering their take on various items as we had a few questions from our party of 6. We enjoyed the happy hour drinks (cocktails were a bit pricey as we ordered $17 doubles) and the especially affordable 32 oz. schooner beer for $9. As can be seen in the pictures, the lighting was a bit dim and too red but we were okay with it as everyone really enjoyed their food. We entered the restaurant and immediately we were met with the scent of fresh fish as if we were on the docks when the boats pulled in. We stayed on the first floor where the bar offered live music. I believe upstairs was more of a dining area and held quite a bit more seats but unsure as we never went upstairs. While my bill for two was $135, it does include about $40 in drinks, an appetizer, chowder, and two meals. Worth every bit of what we were charged. It may not look like much inside but you will not be disappointed in the food.

My partner and I stopped in here before heading back North. We had a great meal, I definitely recommend the lobster linguini dish, it was amazing.. lobster bisque pasta! We also tried the oysters (raw bar) and they were definitely very fresh. The martinis were okay but weren't "extra dirty" like we asked. The server was very nice, attentive and friendly. No complaints there. The atmosphere was cozy as well. Overall, we would definitely return next time we're in the area!

I went to the happy hour at the fish market the other day and it would seem the great prices on drinks and food have suddenly gone way up. I would also say the crowds have somewhat dissipated along with the new high prices which some may feel that's a good thing but not me. The bartenders are great and the food is good, the spice shrimp in particular is probably the best in town. That being said three drinks, dozen oysters, half pound of shrimp for $60 with tip is not what I remember paying there for happy hour but I do tend to drink a bit.

This is a relaxed seafood restaurant near the Potomac Rive in Old Town Alexandria, with a nice atmosphere, but seating it not that comfy. Booth seating is a wood bench. We started with a thick, New England clam chowder with plenty of delicious clams and chunky potatoes. Recommend. We choose 2 of each of the Chef’s Selected oysters. All were delicious and there was enough of a difference to enjoy each kind. The Caesar side salad was very big, enough to be considered a lunch entree. The jambalaya was not great, especially for the price. Go with something else.

Our first time to the Fish Market in Old Town. We went on a Thursday evening and no reservation was necessary. We both ordered the Jambalaya. Wow, it was fantastic. We each had a glass of wine with dinner and since nobody was waiting for our table, we lingered over a second glass of wine. They have a huge menu with so many choices, but Jambalaya is one of our favorites so we had to try it. Would probably try something else next time just because the menu had such great choices.There was soft music playing in the background. Would definitely recommend the Fish Market on King Street in Old Town if you're in the area.

While my bill for two was $135, it does include about $40 in drinks, an appetizer, chowder, and two meals. Worth every bit of what we were charged. It may not look like much inside but you will not be disappointed in the food.

My partner and I stopped in here before heading back North. We had a great meal, I definitely recommend the lobster linguini dish, it was amazing.. lobster bisque pasta! We also tried the oysters (raw bar) and they were definitely very fresh. The martinis were okay but weren't "extra dirty" like we asked. The server was very nice, attentive and friendly. No complaints there. The atmosphere was cozy as well. Overall, we would definitely return next time we're in the area!

I went to the happy hour at the fish market the other day and it would seem the great prices on drinks and food have suddenly gone way up. I would also say the crowds have somewhat dissipated along with the new high prices which some may feel that's a good thing but not me. The bartenders are great and the food is good, the spice shrimp in particular is probably the best in town. That being said three drinks, dozen oysters, half pound of shrimp for $60 with tip is not what I remember paying there for happy hour but I do tend to drink a bit.

This is a relaxed seafood restaurant near the Potomac Rive in Old Town Alexandria, with a nice atmosphere, but seating it not that comfy. Booth seating is a wood bench. We started with a thick, New England clam chowder with plenty of delicious clams and chunky potatoes. Recommend. We choose 2 of each of the Chef’s Selected oysters. All were delicious and there was enough of a difference to enjoy each kind. The Caesar side salad was very big, enough to be considered a lunch entree. The jambalaya was not great, especially for the price. Go with something else.

I ordered the fish sandwich it was crispy on the outside totally wet on the inside. My bun was soggy. The crab cakes were not cooked all the way. The fried platter was good. The waitress was very nice she tryed her best to get us to order something else. Beautiful place though but we were unhappy campers!!!

Our first time to the Fish Market in Old Town. We went on a Thursday evening and no reservation was necessary. We both ordered the Jambalaya. Wow, it was fantastic. We each had a glass of wine with dinner and since nobody was waiting for our table, we lingered over a second glass of wine. They have a huge menu with so many choices, but Jambalaya is one of our favorites so we had to try it. Would probably try something else next time just because the menu had such great choices.There was soft music playing in the background. Would definitely recommend the Fish Market on King Street in Old Town if you're in the area.

I liked the food but my waiter did not tell me about the seafood tower that was the Main reason for me going to the fish market restaurant He only gave me one menu But not the menu with the Different seafood tower I could have ordered I would give this restaurant 5 stars But the service was OK not excellent

We had a group of 10 Vets show up for dinner, at this wonderful restaurant. We had a very short wait until we were seated for one of the best fish dinners I have ever had. Service was prompt and friendly the entire time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. I will be back next time I'm in DC.

Nice restaurant with good view of Old Town. Food was great, though the bottom sides of my fish fillets on the fish & chips were slightly soggy compared to the nice crispy top sides. Still good nonetheless. Also ordered the peel & eat shrimp as an appetizer. Nice big pieces of shrimp cooked perfectly. I could do with a little less of the buttery sauce that it sits in though. All in all, good food, good service - I'll be back.
