Shuckers is a reliable, casual place to drop in and grab food and a drink anytime. Great neighboorhood bar and the staff is always friendly and attentive. There are plenty of TVs but I wouldn't call it a hard-core sports bar. You can't beat the crab legs special on Tuesdays! Menu includes a raw bar and they put some twists on run-of-the-mill bar food to keep it interesting. Nice deck added to the front, but avoid it unless you can tolerate the smoking :/

Ok- let me first say the food was good- not outstanding but good. However, I am most definitely a person of principle. SO, the website advertises Monday special of .75 cent oysters. yay! I get there and the server tells me "oh, the website must be out of date"... ok. I order 1 dozen oysters for $13 dollars off the menu. I get the check- charged 14 dollars because she rings me up for 2 half dozen as opposed to 1 dozen. And the bottom of the receipt- it references their outdated website. I explained that I could stomach the "our .75 cent oysters are outdated but I'm not pay 14 as opposed to 13" .... convinced this is just a tourist trap.

Super awesome staff! They are dog friendly and allowed our baby to chill under our feet (quietly). They brought him ice water before we were even seated! We ate in both locations of this restaurant and both experiences were very good. The food is wonderful. The ambiance is relaxing. The value is good. But most of all we were impressed with the service. In both locations the waiting staff was very efficient and friendly, but the Shore Dr. location waitress really showed us what southern hospitality means. She was very busy and forgot to bring my husband's drink. When we reminded her she was so apologetic and courteous that insisted on giving us a drink complimentary in spite of our attempts to convince her that it's not necessary and we are not inconvenienced at all. What a nice person she is! Needless to say we left big (25%) tips to compensate for her "extra mile" attitude. And of course we'll be back to the place with great food and service when visiting VB.

Food was decent; James River oysters were good, nachos were not great, 50% of nacho was lettuce. Server was decent though valet was rude and pretty useless. Forced use of valet at lunch time even though lot was empty. Moved our vehicle 10' to parking spot and didn't pull our vehicle out. In my opinion, the valet "service" did not warrant a tip so we said thank you and left. As we were walking by valet with dirty blonde hair and a manbun he made a rude comment about tipping the valet. Manbun did not get up from his chair or provide any service, in any way, though he expected a tip. I recommend that Shuckers send manbun on his way.

We visited with our new puppy a few weeks ago,just to have a place dog friendly to eat out at. It was a really cold day so we were trying to hurry which sucked because the food was really good. The staff was obviously as in love with our pup as we are. He started to shiver a bit so I had him half way in my rain jacket but it wasn't enough. Our server brought out her jacket for him to use as a blanket! It was a very nice black north face parka, I'm sure wasn't cheap, but that's how awesome she was! It's a great place and were looking forward to them finishing renovations to the patio so we can bring him back. Thank you so much!

My friends and I eat here a lot. The food is good, the wait staff and bartenders always take good care of us. I highly recomend the Soft Shell Crab Taco's, The Tuna Philly, for entries. For apps you can not go wrong with the spring rolls and steak bites.

We have driven by this place more times than I can count, I'm glad we finally stopped in and tied it. The food was delicious, well presented very fairly priced. They did a double order from the kids menu for my disabled wine. It came out so well put together with a sprig of fresh Rosemary in it. I mean, who expects a beachfront oyster/crab/seafood shack to do that? Or even have fresh Rosemary on hand? When you taste the food you will know, this is not just another seafood restaurant, they put passion into their creations. Shout out to our server (Im terrible with names!) Makenzie or Makayla? Either way, great service! We will be back!

My husband had food poisoning and is still recovering. Although the she crab soup tasted good it wasn't worth it. The rest of the food wasn't incredible and my husband got terribly sick after he left. We believe it was due to the cheeseburger, or something mishandled in the kitchen possibly. We won't be going back.

Kinda hit or miss. The poke bowl was super delicious. Fish and chips, on the other hand... Bland fish, soggy fries, and flavorless mayo-based sauces. Overall I liked their Ocean Front location more. Oh, and both locations are dog-friendly which is super nice.

Great staff and amazing food...do have 1 suggestion however - instead of 2 full-size fried fish fillets on the fish tacos, get rid of one, and split the other between the two, then add a side for the same price. Regardless it was a lot of food, for a decent price given the area. Havent had Oysters Rockefeller in years and this reminded me what I was missing. Wife loved the crab...and so did I

Friendly service at it's best! We thought it was a hamburger bar and ate the Land And Sea Friday special which was exceptional. Rockfish, shrimp and a hot sausage served stacked on a square plate with gourmet toppings. This followed an excellent cup of broccoli and cheddar soup. We shall return.

Love, Love the James River oysters. My boyfriend and I come from Williamsburg just to eat those oysters. Clams are also good steamed and they have awesome salads and homemade ranch dressing how much better can That get! For the summer they were featuring bloody Mary bar which was awesome. You could use just about any flavor to add to your bloody Mary.

This place is awesome! We have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. The servers are attentive and cheerful. Best two points of all: 1) they are cigar friendly, and 2) they are dog friendly as well. There are places closer to home that are cigar friendly, but CP's is by far the best atmosphere and has the best food quality. And Chasity, the manager, is the best. She knows her job, makes you feel welcome, and can neutralize a bad experience and make it great. Suffice it to say, this is our favorite spot now.

I am in town from Florida visiting after a deployment and school. I met a friend here for early dinner. I recommended this place. My waitress was not entirely friendly or engaged initially. My food was cold and I requested for it to be reheated. She took the plate and brought it back with less food on the plate. After speaking with her about it, I ended up speaking with manager, showing her the picture of the food when it was brought out previously. She agreed that it was unacceptable and stated that they would remake it. She was extremely pleasant and apologetic. She also stated that she wasn't going to charge us for it. When my food returned it appeared that they remade it by still using some of the same food on the plate, tasting as if they added new food with the old. However, it tasted better than before and looked better too. The waitress even visited the table and apologized as well. Due to the efforts in at least coming to a resolution, I refused to complain again. We were still charged 50% of the meal after the fact. I will not return to this location again.

Fine dining service in a casual environment! My girlfriend and I reserved a table for a Wednesday night to celebrate our anniversary, we were very pleased with everything! At first glance you might think it's more of a bar atmosphere but the two areas are separate and we were never bothered. Staff was friendly and the manager came to our table as well. The food was second to none, we had the crab legs and a shrimp with andouille pasta, not a morsel was left on the plates! Local brews and cocktails from the bar helped make our special day, we hope to return someday soon!

I'm vegan, and when I got there, I couldn't find anything suitable on the menu. I voiced my concern, and the chef made a delicious sandwich just for me! The bread was warm sourdough, and the vegetables inside we're great. I was told that the chef is making some changes to accommodate vegetarians in the future. I'm very impressed, and would definitely done there again!

The outdoor patio is fantastic. My only complaint would be that they allow smoking on the patio which made it less enjoyable for us. This is my go to mid-day delight, very relaxing place by the water ( shore ) with fish tacos that taste or remind me of a few places ,driving up the coast from San Diego PC highway. They are that good. You should also bring a cooler with you because out back the catch of the day ces in around. 1:30 . Oysters are also fresh as can be and taste fantastic. I give it four stars only because it's so far. Great drinks wonderful staff and excellent service.

So nice to have the covered outdoor patio where you can bring your dog. Our waitress brought our dog a water bowl. I'm a vegan and they adapted a chicken wrap as vegan. It was spicy, saucy and delicious. They need to add it to their menu for non meat eaters. Very enjoyable, great service and food.

Friendly, personable, and instantly helpful recommending an item I wouldn't Atmosphere is a locals Irish sports bar. Old school eight's music playing. Definitely a local hang out. Has an agressive happy hour discount for rails and domestics and 2.50 Rolling Rock 16oz drafts. I overheard they have tap takeovers by local breweries based in Virginia. A brewery will put on 6 or so different beers they offer. It's a Wednesday night special that is done on occasion that's advertised on their social media outlets. The takeover special is 3 dollar pints and the chef will offer small plate specials which incorporate the beer in the food or compliment the drinking experience.

My boyfriendr and I went while on vacation at the beach. It was walking distance from our hotel and we wanted seafood. We found it on Google. Went for appetizers once and went back for entrees next day. We loved the crab dip, and he loved the Mediterranean shrimp as well as the steamed shrimp. grilled tuna and oysters Rockefeller were delicious. Steamed clams were to die for. All reasonably priced and drinks also .Our servers Lexie and Leanna were extraordinary...fast, friendly and very nice. We will be back anytime we can get to the beach! Kudos to Management and waitstaff.

Recently went for the happy hour deal that was advertised in the Pilot...although the info said happy hour food prices extended through Saturday but the staff told us only Mon. - Fri. So, we stayed and ordered anyway. My husband had the 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp and they looked good. I ordered the calamari and was so disappointed when my food came because the portion size was ridiculously small. Seriously, there were maybe 8 calamari rings in the dish for 7.99. It left me hungry still. The sauces were good though and the calamari was tender. Chef, I recommend you up the portion size so diners will feel they are getting their money's worth. I can't imagine a table ordering this for a shared appetizer - it just couldn't happen. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Shuckers is ok, typical bar. i havent eaten like a sit down dinner here but their appetizers are pretty good. they only have one pool table in a small space which sometimes i think can cause problems when it comes to people drinking and trying to take over the pool table. staff has always been nice and the outside sitting area is really nice during the summer, you can bring your pups :)
