We took my dad here for his birthday and it was so great! They had so many special touches, such as having "happy birthday eddee" on the menu, that made our dinner so wonderful. The food and cocktails are also PHENOMENAL! Do yourself a favor and do the sherry flight with whatever you order. The staff is so friendly and professional, we cant wait to go back.

We came to Current today for lunch and great wine, but things didn't go as planned. Then, after we left the restaurant a member of the management team personally contacted us to about our experience. He demonstrated a commitment to service, and I am sure to dine there again!

The best place for seafood in Utah. Top tier of this locally owned restaurant group, Current had a noticeable dip in Quality and service after they opened another "flagship" restaurant (Stanza). Service has stabilized in both restaurants but has not returned to the high level experience in the beginning. Regardless, if you want seafood in the Rockies, CURRENT is hard to beat.

Excellent flavor combinations, superb service and easy location. It was a bit chilly outside so we couldn’t sit on the patio and the air conditioner was on inside so it was still a little bit to cold. Otherwise the dining experience was top notch! Street parking is free on Saturday and Sunday. Definitely not a restaurant for children. Excellent wine selection.

4.5 stars actually, but not an option on Google. Visiting from Seattle and highly impressed with this SLC gem. Service was attentive (just right), knowledgeable and friendly. Food was top notch, especially for a landlocked seafood place. My scallops were seared to perfection with a warm rare center and presentation was inviting and beautiful.

Fantastic food. We had the Spanish octopus and I am still drooling when I think about it. The perfect texture, pickled beans and a bean puree. I know....sounds odd but it's pure magic. We finished with the steak and the cod. Great service too :) love the ambiance and vibe. It's a must go place.

Slightly embarrassed about the smell of my dish when it arrived to a work dinner with our new C-level executive. It was a fish dish with harissa sauce that smelled like a dirty diaper with the additional layer of fish. Wow - I'm good thanks. The other parts of the meal were good, we did appetizers and the ceviche was really fresh. The service was ok and the ambience was just fine. Oh well - it's not the worst place but I don't think I'd actively choose to come back here.

Loved the atmosphere and terrace. The food was good, but not great. We had the clam chowder, which was very flavorful, crab cakes, and shrimp and grits. The best part of the meal was the grits-creamy with a nice cheese flavor. The shrimp were a huge disappointment for the price. Very tough and overcooked. Everything we ate was extremely salty. The crab cakes and remoulade were also very very citrusy. I don’t think we will be anxious to return.

We’re a house divided! I’ll start with this: the food was good and I’m still thinking about the ceviche with taro chips. I’d like to go back but boyfriend isn’t making plans anytime soon. Went here for Valentine’s Day and were prepared to pay more than usual. We’ve always lived on a coast and totally understand that the seafood has to be flown in and there’s an added cost for that. We still thought that the entrees were pretty drastically overpriced for what you get. I felt like the wine was even more over the top (that’s how they get ya), but we ended up getting a bottle anyway and some appetizers to share since they seemed more appealing. Aside from that, it was a really great Valentine’s date and the atmosphere was perfect. The wait staff was also incredibly professional.

The service was great! Our food on the other hand in my opinion was bland! For appetizer we had the crab cakes and calamari which was okay. For entrees we I had shrimp and grits and my husband had the rib eye steak which he thought was not worth $36. The presentation of the food was great it just seemed like everything we had was missing something flavor wise! We also tried the 2 minute ceviche and clam chowder which also was just okay! We probably won't ever be back..

Current has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. The food is absolutely amazing. Wait staff was attentive, responsive, and completely unobtrusive in doing their job. While the prices can seem a bit high, dining at Current is worth every penny.

It's as pricey as they say and the fish and chips anyway are not worth the expense. Maybe I shouldn't have expected any different, but the chips are really just fries instead of the thicker potato slices I've come to expect from such dishes. Because they were so thin, they tasted like salt and oil, which they were saturated with, instead of potatoes. The fish was okay, but the breading dominated the flavor. I suppose it's a bad idea to order something simple at an elaborate place, but I try to go with easily comparable and identifiable dishes the first time I eat somewhere. I'll order something with better reviews next time and update my review accordingly.

My friend and I went to undercurrent the bar. We we’re served by a young guy who made us feel the we are being rushed out Immediately after sitting. It’s a real shame that people make judgments on other people and think that someone might not be able to afford it when they have no idea who you are. We both felt uncomfortable to the point that I had to leave a note on the receipt .. if you’re a fan of snooty bartenders and crowds this is the place to expect it. I will add it as New Year’s Eve so my friend and I we were dressed very nicely. So not sure why we were there treated like this I love their good. But Unfortunately service sucks

Freshest seafood and best atmosphere! That patio is everything! If there's ever a measure of great taste, it's that the stew distracted me from fries... and the fries were amazing! Oysters + Grilled Oysters + Clam Dip + Seafood Stew and fries = "Hell uva" good choice! No one does it quite like Current -- that's a fact!

We knew the food was good, but the service was even better. Katie answered all our questions about wine, desert, and various other ingredients. The atmosphere was engaging in this great historic building. Everything was fresh and well prepared from the king crab appetizer to the flourless chocolate cake, and all the fish in between.

Delicious. They have a lovely terrace outside and it’s really nice in these warm summer evenings. The modern retake of the place is beautiful and sets the mood to a cozy, nice dinner. The waiters and waitresses are all very nice and professional, discreet yet present. The food is excellent, really well done and full of vibrant colors and a party for your taste buds. I sat the bar and was immediately greeted and given a drink. For my meal I had the branzino and it was amazing. The dish is perfectly composed and the way the chefs place the fish right on top of the bed of vegetables and quinoa almost forced you to taste everything at once. Every bite was a pleasure and each component was perfectly cooked. The portion size was perfect as well.

Believe them when they say small plates. Had the king crab legs, nothing king about them A med leg cut in half, three (3) halves served with 3 slices of toast for $28.00. A bit noisy across from the kitchen, (with a reservation). Tasty but over priced, small oysters, wine was good. Reccomend the house salad. Friend had shrimp and cheddar cheese grits, he said he was impressed but still hungry. I will be going to another restaurant for my crab.

The absolute best decision I made when dining out in Salt Lake City. The space, so minimal yet so spectacularly-lit, coupled with the extraordinary food, is dearly missed to this day. I am satisfied in knowing that my first time eating Snake River Farms Zabuton was perfect; the crispy tempura hen-of-the-woods mushroom and smooth, blue cheese demi-glace were perfectly coordinated with the rich taste of the wagyu. I knew I would be pleased from the get-go with their ultra-creamy Smoked Clam Dip and meaty Spanish Octopus. Even though it was unusually difficult to find a drink that sat well with me (the Red Rock Ale was intolerable for everyone at my table), the food made up for it, and then some. To seal the deal, we had the kindest, most genuine waitress. Thank you for such a wonderful fine dining experience.

The ambiance is lovely, and the service was very friendly and attentive. I had the fish sandwich, which was recommended by my Mom. I wasn't totally sure about before ordering, but Mother knows best: it was delicious! The bread was pillow-soft, but juuuuuust sturdy enough to support the sandwich. It was perfect. The fish was tender and flavorful, and the coleslaw added a nice crunch. My mouth was in heaven eating that sandwich.

This is a fantastic place for seafood. As far as cooked fish goes, I'm very picky about the texture and flavor. Current exceeded my expectations by a landslide. The portions are filling, but not overwhelming. The sauces are delicious and unique. The atmosphere is comfortable yet elegant. Definitely a place I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

This is a very hip fusion restaurant. The service was outstanding and the kitchen was quick. All of the dishes tasted great, including entrees, starters and a dessert (hummingbird cake). The ceviche was a little unusual compared to any other ceviche I have had before--closer to sashimi with lime juice. The mussels and oysters were delicious. There is plenty of street parking nearby. The outside area builds the atmosphere, with a rustic exterior and fire-pit of stones.

Every time that I've eaten here, my experience has surpassed any expectations I may have had. Each dish is perfectly layered and cooked to perfection. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The overall ambiance is modern meets rustic. A perfect place for any special occasion. The prices are reasonable for the quality and incredible taste. Highly recommend this place.

The greeters were very friendly. The wait staff were gracious and easily recommended some menu items. I ordered fish tacos which cost $15 with a house salad and water to drink. The fish, allegedly rockfish was buried under a huge pile of fillers and sauce which overpowered the fish completely. In truth,vi would call the tacos "filler tacos" not fish tacos. The chunks of red cabbage were larger than the fish.

Not the first time current has decided to get their food delivered during peak commuting hours, blocking the bike lane. I haven’t seen ‘the bike ejector’ or ‘decapitator’ out before though. See my pic. An impressive lack of barricading. Would have been nice to have a cone or two at the end of the block. I guess liability insurance can pay for everything but a guilty conscience. On that note, it seems most the places on 300 s are stocked by either US foods or nicholas. I find the places nicholas are more tasty so that’s why I gave 2 stars instead of zero. The bar is obviously pretty low for the truck drivers from both companies.

Too much hype for what it’s worth. Ambience and atmosphere is great, but other than that, nothing worth mentioning. We were a group of 6, they got us in right away (we did have a reservation) so that was a plus. I ordered fish and chips. Really disappointed.. the chips were soft and not crisp/crunchy. The fish was decent but I did feel like there were small soft bones in there? Well, it didn’t matter, it wasn’t that good and to be honest overpriced. Their whole menu is actually overpriced. My friend order the scallops and that was actually really good. Dessert was blah. I prob wouldn’t come back for food but maybe to go to their bar next door.

Went here as a special treat (as I’m definitely not well off enough to enjoy this regularly). But a treat it was! The food was so, so delicious. The scallops are out of this world and lived up to all the hype I’ve heard about them. Great location. Only critique, which cannot be helped, is the acoustics in the building. Sometimes it gets pretty loud and is hard to hear people across the table. However, I am a big fan! This was a great place to splurge on.

I don't like seafood, and I couldn't stop eating at this place. The "surf" is completely fresh and absolutely delicious. We sampled the grilled oysters, calamari, and ceviche for appetizers. Each had its unique flavor, incredible presentation, and wonderful taste. I highly recommend every single one of them. Next, we ate the black cod and scallops. Both were cooked to perfection, with the black cod having a uniquely flaky sear, unlike anything I have ever seen or tasted in my life. Finally, we finished with the hummingbird cake, a perfectly moist and flavored dessert. Ultimately, the entire experience was incredible, and I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Stop wasting your time reading my review and go try it for yourself.

Absolutely one of the best culinary experiences I have had, and certainly about the best in Utah. Wow. Totally impressed with the presentation, taste, and combinations. It is one of those restaurants that can captivate the palate. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth it if you want to have a fantastic meal. Highly, highly recommend.

I've always heard people say you should never order steak and a fish house and vice versa but never really gave it much thought because I'm mostly a steak at a steak house kind of guy (or a steak at any place I can order steak!) I got a medium cooked ribeye here, it was initially WAY undercooked and cold in the middle and burned on the outside. I tried to just eat it and couldn't make it happen. I respectfully let the waitress know and she very kindly took my plate back to the kitchen. Then it came out cooked and still burned, so I just ate it. The flavor was really bland, how it was cooked wasn't doing it any favors, and was overall quite underwhelming. I was pretty disappointed. There were others who ordered Sea Food dishes who really liked their meal. Moral of the story.... Never order steak at a fish house.

Went on a lady date with the bestie here. The cider is cold and yet still so delicious. Their "Share me" Calamari is phenomenal! I will always get it everytime we return .I got the organic caramelized salmon and my bff got the stew. We both were happily surprised that our expectations were surpassed. Kenny was our server and did the BEST job. He arrived very early, checked in with us enough to refill our water but not so much to interrupt conversations. The GM is so kind and attentive. The ambiance is relaxed, industrial, and gorgeous. We will absolutely return and this restaurant has set the bar for sea food in SLC for me-- even above Market Street (close #1.5).

The experience here was amazing. The restaurant has a very contemporary style interior with a rustic exterior. The food was delicious with very unique flavors and design and moderately priced. Current attempts to provide a seafood experience in a dry desert location but just serving grilled fish is not a true representation of West Coast options . Many variations of fish and shellfish exist which are not offered regularly at this establishment. The prices may be correct for the fish flown in but the phrase fresh is not accurate unless the fish has never been frozen which I doubt applies to their restaurant. I could buy a discount ticket to San Diego and still not cost as much for a dinner for two at Current.

For our anniversary, we chose Current for several reasons: great service, outstanding food, relaxed atmosphere. We wanted to take our time because we were celebrating. The staff definitely went the extra mile in making it a wonderful experience, including personalized menus and a complimentary desert item that was not on the menu. The staff was very attentive without being overbearing. All in all, a great and memorable experience.

I used to live in Seattle so for me to say that this is a fantastic seafood restaurant has some punch behind it. I have never been disappointed with a meal. Their food is always fresh and they have a fantastic wine and spirits selection. A few of their wines are on tap which is a unique element. Service is timely and if you have any questions on food they are more than happy to educate you.

Bad service. Calamari tasted like rubber. Worst calamari I have ever eaten. You can get better sea food in brazil or Sri Lanka for 3 bucks by the seaside.

Wonderful service -great oysters. The drinks are great. The sherry sampler is a lovely way to end the meal. Come prepared to spend money and have a wonderful evening. Music could be turned down a bit.

The space was beautiful, the service was great. The potato chip appetizer was pretty good. The steak my wife ordered was just... okay. The fish I had was meh. For the over $150 we spent on the two of us, I had hoped for a lot better than meh.

Great atmosphere, excellent service,.. However, it loses stars as the steak tasted like fish (must have been cooked together) and was just not cooked well. If I can make it at home better then what's the point of eating out? The fish however tasted good but they should probably take steak off the menu cause that's not where their talents lie... I won't be back.

Expensive, I ended up getting a salad because I couldn't justify paying $35 for a small sized plate. Maybe that's just the middle class in me, also my beer was $9. My salad was very small and did not fill me up. Good food but at a very high price. In my book not worth it.

The worst meal I can recall. Ordered the Calamari for an appetizer, there was probably a dollar's worth of Calamari and the rest was potatoes. The fish (shark) sandwich was easily as disappointing as the appetizer, limp salad and tiny dry sandwich. Would never go back or recommend to anyone! There were probably four other people in the whole restaurant.

Picked this gem out while staying at the airport and it's downtown location is convenient to get to. Current provides a cool industrial feel. Erickson, our waiter couldn't have been more helpful explaining the menu and the whole staff is very attentive. Great yet not overwhelming wine list. Consider sharing an app and a salad before your meal because the portions are quite large. The scallop entree and fish & seafood stew were excellent. Oh and there's terrific options for someone that doesn't want seafood.

Currents is a go to for classy seafood. But the bill can get out of hand pretty quickly. There are tons of unique dishes that sound exotic enough that one might get menu shock. But, if you need a specific suggestion, try the scallops. My party and I ordered half the menu and the only criticism we came up with was that the crab cakes were a little dry. But if you are going out to drink, you better pregame elsewhere. Drinks are expensive and not anything that special. Oh, one more thing I highly recommend the hummingbird cake for dessert. Its delicious.

I love the vibe of this place. Great decor with these cute drop lights that create a modern nautical feel. The food is excellent as well. Tonight we just did a bottle of wine and a selection of appetizers. The clam dip is no joke... so yummy. While its def a bit pricey, Current does not disappoint!!

Awesome seafood restaurant! We made a reservation for my wife’s bday dinner, when we arrived, they were anticipating our arrival. They printed a special happy birthday on the menu just for her. Very professional and clean restaurant, awesome customer service. We got the calamari appetizer (wasn’t my favorite) the sea food salad was amazing, which we splint, and still couldn’t finish. For entrees I got the branzino, and my wife got the halibut. Both dishes were amazing! We look forward to coming back again.
