Portuguese fish chowder!...the best!

Rob Harris

Visiting Newport, had to go to Anthony's. Had small scallop platter and piece of cod and their excellent french fries. Everything was very good as usual, but the breading needs a little spice. You can buy fresh seafood to cook yourself or sit down in a relaxed place and really enjoy it cooked for you. Everyone there is very friendly, so tip big!

When traveling the best places to eat are always where the locals dine. Definitely proven true with Anthony's Seafood Restaurant in Middletown. My husband had the Nantucket platter and was extremely pleased. Being a landlubber, I ordered chicken fingers and fries. I was also very pleased. It was delicious. The line to order was long but moved quickly and the food came to our table in a timely manner. Definitely no frills but a great bang for your buck. I would highly recommend Anthony's Seafood.

Allison Jones

Great food and good variety. Really enjoyed eating here.

Shantae Joseph

Yum! The food was delicious! Perfectly fried. Perfectly seasoned. Melted in my mouth!

Linda Mason

Very friendly staff. Had the crab cakes of three which were smaller than expected. They were good but i wamted more...

CE Phillips

Good service, fresh food . Prices seem somewhat fair. Coors light should be $3 not $4 . BEST NE Clam chowder!Fries not great . Seafood pretty good. I'd go back again . :) Very nice staff. Fried fish tacos are yummy.

justin ballou

Always great food.

The stuffed quahog or "Stuffie" is amazing. Clams are nestled in this flavorful and fluffy stuffing. Kung Pao calamari gives a great little kick. Locals pack the place so you know it's genuine.

Mike Bourget

Being from Colorado we don't get the chance to eat great seafood. Anthony's did the trick. The clam cakes topped the chart. Everything was fresh.

Jack Crance

My wife and I enjoyed an early supper this evening of fish & chips, plus crab cakes. The food delicious, delivered promptly with courteous servers, and in sufficient serving size. The facility clean and tidy, without the tell tale odor of a fish market - which it also is. We were very pleased for our experience there, and would go again. jrcII

John Cerminara

Some of the best seafood I've ever eaten.

bennie cope

Excellent food & quick friendly service

Todd Sander

Great selection of seafood. The RI Clam Chowder was really good. I like it better than the creamy New England version. Was stuffed with seafood. Lobster was good. But, they do go a little light on the potatoes and corn. Large variety and I will definitely go back. One of the cooks told me that they invented the Kung Pao Calamari and other local places copy it. He says it's great and that is what brought Guy Fieri in when he showed up for Triple D

Barbara White

Great food! Seafood market is fresh and clean. Can be crowded and parking lot can be overwhelming. Worth a visit. I do take...

Michael Blank

This place is always packed, and for good reason. The seafood is clean and fresh as always. The Portuguese Fish Chowder is great and one of my favorites.

Silvia Anderson

The NE Clam chowder is the best! The deep sea scallops were magic. Love anthony's!!

Rick Williams

Well worth the visit... Great food at decent price!!!... Which is hard to find.

Larry Modestow

4.5 stars for what it is. Food is clam shack excellant. One of the best in New England. Get the online menu before you go cause you order at the register before you sit. We wish it had a view. But the food is, wait we said that

Isabell Lepage

Ordered take out. Was not disappointed. Received 3 crab cakes for appetizers. They were chock full of crabmeat, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Best around the area! They were so scrumptious, I ate almost all before I remembered to photo them!! The Sassafras root beer was a special treat also.

Joseph Deleo

Best NE clam chowder I've ever had!! Clam cakes are also delicious!!

Joseph Adams

4 plus experience. At here with my wife and two kids. Perfect family place but still great food. Crab cakes were meaty and favorable. Portuguese fish chowder was the bomb - mild kick. Nantucket seafood bake rich and delicious. I could pour that sauce over an old shoe and it would be delicious. Salmon was large portion and grilled to perfection. Go there you will not be disappointed.

Shelley jean

Great food and great service. Friendly, clean atmosphere.

Melissa Greenman

ALWAYS DELICIOUS!! :) My FAVORITE low key seafood restaurant. FRESHEST seafood around . Fresh every day! Also has meat options for those who don't eat seafood. Plenty of free parking . Friendly staff. Always happy i came !!

Selena Hickman

A little pricey, but very delicious and one of my favorite stops for fresh, authentic seafood!

Jon Petersen

Me and the wife ordered the lobster roll and fried calamari dinner and we loved it! Best fried calamari I’ve had in a while and the marinara dip it comes with was just as good! The prices for the quality of the food was great. The lobster roll was packed and the hand cut fries were perfectly crispy. Will 100% be coming back as this is our new favorite seafood joint

Justin Kahn

The wholebellies are spectacular. My friend loved the creamy Portuguese chowder and her clam cakes. Loved it!

Mengyang Fan

Best choice if u got a chance to go to Newport or no chance to go to Maine. LOL~

Michael Sexton

Can’t visit the northeast without getting a lobster roll. Amazing sandwich that must’ve had an ENTIRE LOBSTER on it. Don’t leave Rhode Island without stopping here!

Israel Barron

Great Non-tourist Seafood. Visiting and didn't care for the tourist restaurants near the Newport Harbor. Just drove 10 mins and found this little gem. It's a Seafood market and restaurant, can't see how it can get any fresher.

R. Jay Cotton

Just add the Portuguese fish chowder and it was so delicious!

Joe Belle

Stopped into Anthony's on a recent trip to Rhode Island and I can say that I was not disappointed. It was a busy Saturday evening but my party of three was able to get seated within 5 minutes. The way it works here is you stand in line with a menu and decide what you would like, you place your order at the register, pay, then you're guided to your table with your drinks and table ware. Our food came within ten minutes and was delicious. My stuffed sole was probably the best I've ever eaten. If you're in Anthony's neighborhood, stop in; you will not regret it.

Nick Manning

Best, and freshest seafood in Rhode Island. No more needs to be said. Interior decor could use a complete overhaul to look more nautical, but it’s classic and the food just makes everything worth it.

Jie Hou

The 1+1/4lobster is fresh but they did not clean it in proper way so they are a lot of water in it. Hope you can improve it.

Ed Johnson

Another wonderful meal at Anthony's! We had lobster rolls tonight. Of course the lobster was sweet, fresh, delicious, but the details! Fries cooked to perfection, never a soggy fry here. The bun toasted on both sides in butter. The fresh Cole slaw. Anthony's never disappoints!

Brenda P

Friends who live on the island recommended this place. It was amazing! We wanted to eat quickly so we ordered at the take out bar and ate outside. There's also an option to eat inside and be waited on. The New England clam chowder was awesome! And the clam cakes are a must with it. We also ordered the fish tacos which was good as well. We will definitely be coming back here again!

Benjamin Miner

Excellent food, service, and price. I highly recommend their lobster roll, it was served just perfect and with fresh fries and slaw. Really great meal from a well priced, friendly and local jewel of a restaurant. Perfect for family or alone, you won't be sorry you went!

George Manchester

Unfortunately I was disappointed with Anthony's. I was looking forward to a nice seafood platter and I did not get that. I feel that the clams were prepared and cooked fresh in house, but they were really crunchy and dry, like they were way over fried. My plate was full of shrimp and scallops and they were a different color than the clams, and the fish, which led me to believe that they were frozen previously. Every shrimp was uniform in size as were the scallops. Two very different batters. Very disappointed. $55 better spent elsewhere.

Gina Sierra-Nova

I got the fish and chip, it was good and fresh. They have 4 oz. Or 8 oz I got the 8 oz. 2 small pieces and 1 piece was very thin tail end. Would gladly pay more for a thicker piece fish. The price was $11.99.

Lee Elaine

Fantastic food: fresh, delicious, comes fast and it's not expensive at all. If you like luxurious restaurants, it's not your best choice but if you're here for the food - you should defenitly have a try of the fresh lobster and the claw chowder RI. (Like that one better than the creamy NE one.) We enjoyed our lunch at Anthony's very much. Good to know: no reservations possible. But call if you want to make sure, they are open and that they had a catch of what you want to eat that day. ;-)

Dan Sternick

Amazing - best clam strips / baby bay scallops / lobster roll / potuguese chowdar I have ever had - it's very small - long lines - definitely get there early - amazing hidden gem off the Newport strip

Natalya Dwyer

One of the few very good seafood places on the island

Stewart Swygert

I had the fish and chips and a couple of spicy quahogs. Out of this world good

Zef Gjuraj

Fresh seafood!!! And great prices make this place a must!

Jeff Grigg

Great food and staff!

mrjspence .

While vacationing in Newport, my craving for fish-n-chips was running wild. I wanted a no-thrills experience away from the crazed tourist restaurants with 1.5hr waits just to get overpriced mediocre food. This proved to be a difficult task. Thanks to Google (didn’t show up on horrible Yelp) i found Anthony’s. A short drive out of my way from the hotel but I knew I needed to try it. Glad I did. I Had some of the best fish-n-chips and NE Clam Chowder ever here at Anthony’s. Despite all the signage, somehow the ordering process seemed a bit confusing, but nothing to get upset about. The fish was the freshest I’ve had in many many years. So delicious. Portions are just right too. You get what you pay for, and it’s fairly priced, if not a bit on the cheaper side (disclaimer- everything seems cheap to me traveling outside NYC). Not the best fries on earth but I didn’t come here for their potatoes.

Michael Preiss

Delicious food perfectly prepared. The salmon filet on the salmon sandwich was grilled to perfection. The New England clam chowder and the clam cakes were good, but missing the wealth of clams each used to contain.

James J

"clams are from the sand !" was the answer from one their male employees when i complained about their gritty clams (clam steamer) which i had to spat out then the unfinished clam steamer was exchanged with a handful of uncooked mussels which i could not eat. other than this everything else was excellent esp. good price for fresh seafood generous portions i would like to come back to this restaurant but i wont order any clams in the future

Lauren Baldwin

Amazingly organized! Excellent fresh seafood! Reasonably priced. A bit out of town but definitely worth the visit!

Visan S.

Fresh ingredients. Very flavorful. Kind staffs.

Paul Gaines

The Alaskan crab legs are very tasty, but they're not King Crab. King Crab legs are MUCH bigger (I live there)

Tom Shiben

Great food and not bad prices. Staff is friendly as are other patrons.

Michael Prudhomme

Everything was delicious, quick service and phenominal food for the price... Off the beaten path and away from the tourists...

Vanessa Bryant

Food for my take-out order came out quicker than I expected, and, as always, was delicious.

Charlene S

PROS: incredible quality seafood prepared perfectly every time! The owner Steve and his son are friendly and know how to run this gold mine! The seafood market side is great as well for when you want to cook at home. We love it so much we go several times a week lol :) A must stop for sure! CONS: a "fast food" type setting

Anna Zahoroda

This place was amazing. Very fresh food. Quick serving. Lobster was wonderful. Definitely would come back.

Stan McDonald

A good place to eat. Atmosphere is not so great. Expensive, but fair portions of food.

Brandon St. Laurent

After having moved away from RI roughly 8 years ago, I make a trip back once a year. With that being said Anthony's is ALWAYS one of my stops when I come back. And this is even considering that I tend to stay about 45 minutes from it. Their seafood is without a doubt some of the best RI has to offer. A lot of people mistake this place as a Seafood market(it has that too) and not a restaurant but their restaurant is amazing. We tend to buy way more than we need and take stuff home for leftovers, but when everything is as good as it is, who can blame you? The fried whole belly clams are phenomenal. the Quahogs are top notch, steer clear of the spicy if you cant take heat (they are so good though), and their clam cakes are on point. Did I mention their chowders? The two that stand out are the NE Clam chowder (clearly) and the Portuguese Fish Chowder. They are wonderful. It is an order and sit type place and the food comes out quick. Give them a shot if you're in the area. You'll be impressed.

Stephen Schwarz

Excellent lobster roll, large chunks of lobster piled high, a tad bland for my taste but there was no shortage of seasoning options on the table so you could easily season it to your personal preference. French fries are fresh cut and cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and creamy potato on the inside. Swordfish sandwich is a delectable combination. Calamari was also perfectly done, crispy but not greasy with a few jalapenos scattered around in case you wanted a little heat. I would definitely make this a regular visit!

Brig Fugal

Great food, great service, affordable!

dorothy schultz

The best clam chowder this old gal has devoured in decades. Bless you for serving me this this wonderful food.

V Granados

Really fresh, good seafood. Market price for what you order in the restaurant. Food is delicious, and service is friendly. It is usually crowded and a long line to be seated, but worth the wait.

Jacob Lecount

Amazing food. Had the Stuffed quahog (mild) and the Lobster roll. Everything was great, and was out pretty fast, since you order and pay before you're seated. Worth a trip if your in the area.

Patrick Lambert

Great time here as far as all things seafood. I really think there clam chowder is the best!

Robbie Rodriguez

I enjoyed this place very much. You will be waiting awhile before ordering. And then once you order and pay for your food, you might have to wait for a table. Other than that. I recommend this place. Order the clam strips, N.E. Clam Chowder, and Cole Slaw. You will not be disappointed in that. I tried the mussels, they were very dirty and not to my liking. Tried the swordfish and it was delicate and delicious. Fried Shrimp is juicy and scrumptious. If ever back in Rhode Island, I will return again.

luisa palacio

First time here and I must say I will come again some day, my husband loves seafood so that's the main reason why I came. I had the calamari diner with fries. The only problem here is that I didnt get a chance of taking a picture.

Margaret Moniz

They used to have good mild shuffles. But they went and messed with recipe for the mild shuffles so that it now has a little bit more bit to it than care for.

Frank Cepeda

Awesome seafood. Although the seating area is rather small and there was a short wait, the food definitely makes it worth it. The seafood platter can easily feed two. The New England Clam Chowder was delicious. The Rhode Island Clam Chowder is definitely worth a try, although it's more like a soup, it's delicious.

Heather Bell

We were going into Newport to a much more expensive place and just really wanted casual....HIDDEN GEM!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. food is succulent staff is friendly and personable prices just blew us away that it was so affordable for such a delicious meal.

Stewart Matychuk

Great stop for fresh seafood in Middletown, RI. Not fancy, just good food, good prices, fast service. Win, win, win!

Gay Mather

Great food! And staff

Amy Crisp

Where the locals go. Awesome fish sandwiches and shrimp cocktail. Grab a carafe of chilled water from the fridge and enjoy!

what the hal

Fresh and delicious! We had the friend shrimp and the fish and chips. Staff was friendly, food was served at a very fair price. Cant wait to go back!

Marilyn Glasses

Friendly with fantastic food. The seafood is great with out the high price. Loved it!

Ron D

Great sea food place, my favorite in New Port. If you go there try the baked Shrimp.

Thomas Kusch

A great casual seafood eatery/restaurant/take-out with very reasonable prices. The place was packed when we arrived for an early dinner on a Saturday, but the wait was short due to a highly efficient staff and kitchen. They really know how to properly adjust the frying times for different types of seafood (scallops, shrimps, fish, oysters, and clams were all juicy, crispy, and had a clean taste indicating a frequent change of their frying oil). The wait staff was quick, attentive, and very friendly. They also offer a limited selection of beer and decent local as well as international wines with very low mark-ups (the prices ranged from $12-15 per bottle).

Gabrielle Seibert

I was so excited to go back to Anthony’s while visiting Newport over the summer because I’ve always enjoyed it, but I was so disappointed this time

Judith Frascarelli

Somewhat cafeteria style, but you place your order and pay for it. Then a server brings your meal to the table. Food was great. They also have a seafood market attached. We'd go back

Betty Weldon

Great lobster, nice family environment, cute t-shirts. Excellent Kung Pao calamari

M. Abbasi

On a recent visit to Newport, RI; my son in law and my daughter suggested we eat at this place... We had passed it earlier and didn’t think much of it, it looked more like a fish store than a restaurant. We decided to have lunch there, and we were surprised that there was a line but it moved fast. We ordered baked swordfish and baked Tuna, for appetizer, we ordered clam ... The swordfish was tender, juicy and succulent. The Tuna was just as good. The servers were friendly and accommodating. I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesn’t mind the simple, shack like atmosphere.

Philip Noce

Portions are healthy and the food is absolutely fantastic. Parking can be tricky and their ordering system is confusing for first timers, but I won’t take away any stars because of that. The Kung Pao Calimari was out of this world. The calimari was soft; tender, crispy, and full of flavor. The New England clam chowder is some of the best I’ve ever had.

Karen Lord

Always good food and atmosphere!

Brian Ford

Excellent seafood! Be prepared to wait to be seated as this place gets quite busy. Highly recommend eating here if you like fresh seafood!

Jeanette O

Freaking spectacular! Ate there several times on vacation. Everything was delish. I also really enjoyed taking things home from the glass case to cook later. Crab stuffed mushrooms made it back home with me!

Megabuster254

A very superb experience. If you want a casual experirnce with some excelent seafood, this is the place. I was very delighted to try my first bowl of R.I clam chowder, steamers were to die for, and the lobster rolls were well made with fresh lobster, crisp letus, and a buttery bun. I'd definately come again.

Luciana VF

When you arrive there is a line to order and pay before sitting, which makes it feels like a fast-food. We ordered a lobster, stuffed shrimps and swordfish sandwich. The lobster wasn't well opened, so it was hard to get the meat. The swordfish was amazing, and wasn't dry at all. I personally didn't like the stuffing of the stuffed shrimps.

Deb Pinky1

Fresh food. Friendly staff. Not particularly happy with the clam cakes. My husband had chowder and flounder and really liked it. I had a burger. It was ok. We did not like it enough to go back. The 5 stars is for the really friendly smiling staff.

Diane Zagarese

The prices website are not the same as is charged when we pick up for takeout. It is considerably more. We were told the website prices were old. A month later.... same thing. Shame on you! Change your website and shop bait and switching.

RonBurgAM

Amazing lawbstah roll. Lots of fresh meat, and not too much mayo. The hot dog bun is underwhelming for a $24 dish but allows the lobster to shine. Two claws up.

Amber Fox McNeil

Fresh, deliciously prepared seafood and such a great variety to choose from. My snow crab was fabulous. Very casual environment. Take home a pound or two of fresh fish to fix at home. Fun t-shirts for purchase. My only disappointment was the clam chowder had dill that overwhelmed the clam flavor. Try the creamy spicy chowder version - it's reeeeeally good!

Kyle Nelson

Excellent seafood! The crab cakes are phenomenal. (Baked, not fried). I will be coming back for the Kung Pao Calamari!

John Pyers

Excellent menu and great service!

Eliza N

This place is phenomenal

Matthew Garcia

An authentic New England seafood joint in a sea of touristy and overpriced options around Newport. You walk in and immediately see the bright and clean case full of fresh fish and shellfish with plenty of other seafood-related items throughout the shop. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen side offers tons of delicious fresh and fried seafood in a traditional setting and at a fair price. Easily becomes my go-to spot now that I’m living in Middletown.

Kyle McCarthy

I've been here many times and always have had an exceptional experience. Great food, friendly staff and prompt service. Bonus Anthony's also serves as a high end fish market and is family friendly. I highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

Rob M

Very good seafood at a fair price! But the New England clam chowder had way too much parsley in it and overpowered the rest of the chowder. The baked Nantucket casserole was incredible! Definitely worth a trip back

Sean McKenna

Best place around town to get fresh seafood at a reasonable price. We asked to make a large order for a rehearsal dinner and Steve the manager moved mountains for us. Asked for the price point we wanted, made a custom menu that fit exactly what we wanted and then some, and kept in close contact with us throughout the process to make the night perfect and easy for us. Cannot thank Steve and the rest of the staff enough.

Scott Purdy

Cute little seafood place. Different kind of service than what you would normally expect, but it's a nice change of atmosphere. You pick out what you want as soon as you walk in. You're literally standing at the front of the store reading the menu and you tell the cashier what you want and what you want to drink. Then you're seated. No time to look over the menu. The seafood is all fresh and prices that you would expect to pay. Market prices. The location is a little odd. When I think of a seafood place I'm thinking on a waterfront somewhere. This is more like in farm country. My family and I were pleased with the meal.

Andre Guerin

Their creamy clam chowder and their spicy Portuguese fish chowder are TO DIE FOR. The lobster roll and their grilled tuna... more in the range of decent. Garlic mashed potatoes are too dry and not garlicky enough.

Zachary Pullins

Didn't take a pic because it was too good to wait. Had a lobster roll and cup of Portugese fish chowder. Snuck a clam ball and crab leg from a friend as well. Food was EXCELLENT and service was fast. Best seafood spot in the area hands down. Get there before 5 during the week because it gets packed.

Rob Guilliams

Awesome food. Try the Portuguese Fish Chowder. You will not be disappointed.

Amanda Meade

Great food for a great price, casual.

Benjamin Senecal

What I didn't realize until i arrived was that Anthony's is a market and a restaurant. The seafood was very good. Definitely worth a try if you like seafood and are in the New Port area. The restaurant is kid friendly, although I don't know what kind of non-seafood dishes there are for kids....

Georgine Rukavina

Excellent qualiity food at very reasonable price

Kevin Carlson

The lobster roll is packed with chunks of meat. The kung pao calamari is a taste sensation

Ian Perry

Everything At Anthony's Seafood Restaurant Was just Great.

Wesley Wages

Amazing! Everything was good tried about 8 different dishes and all were amazing and fresh!

tyga wells

The lobester roll taste at the 99 resturate . Nothing like wow with the seasoning . The cole slaw was not good. Did not get a fork or napkins with my to go order. 33 dollars for this and was not real happy.

scott H

Amazing!!! We had Portuguese fish chowder, lobster roll and calamari. It couldn't have been better. 100% will be returning tomorrow for another fantastic meal!

Richard Blondin

Super shrimp cocktail and n.e. clamchouder . Great value.

Tony Arnold

A little of the beaten path, but, wow! was it worth it!! The lobster was outstanding AND it came with fresh corn-on-the cob and boiled red potatoes. All at a reasonable price. My wife and I were completely satisfied, as was my mother. We live thousands of miles from here, but if we ever return on vacation again, this if a must stop!!

Baljeet Beharry

Food is good staff is friendly.

Cindy Killian

Decent place no frills but good food..really enjoyed the crab cakes andThe R.I clam chowder both must trys..

Del Marie Riley

Our 1st visit here today. Great lobster rolls. Friendly staff. Go early because it gets busy quickly.

Karen Hsu

Great quality no frills seafood joint. It's a bit self serve, but no complaints since food was awesome. The 2 pounder lobster mega meal can easily feed 2 people, or one very hungry person. The staff are very friendly too. Get there early right at opening to avoid waiting on line!

Max Heinauer

different that you your order your food& pay the bill, then wait for your table, food came out quick once seated, very reasonable prices and everything was delicious

Deb Bella

From the road you'd never know it was a eatery; only a sign out on the street with nothing on the building. It's a fish market as well as take out and eat in. It was fast & efficient with a friendly staff. Every item we ordered was delicious; from the NE Clam Chowder (perfectly seasoned, lots of clams) & Steamers to the Fried Clams Platter (alot of food) and homemade coleslaw. But the piesta-resistance was my home made Grilled Salmon Fish Taco's with Mango/Pineapple Salsa on a soft, warmed flour shell...so damn good. The salmon was perfectly cooked. This place is not much to look at so get over that now. It's very casual with about 20 self serve tables. Food is ordered with the cashier, pick your drink, pay, take your tray with a number to a table; the food is then delivered to you. It's fast, efficient and awesome. Enjoy!! We sure did and will definitely be back.

Ellen Cowlie

Good food.clean place! Friendly staff me & two.sisters will.return when in RI.

Savannah Burns

Spent about $10 on some tuna steak. When we took it out of the package it was smelly which is not how raw tuna should be. Took it back to exchange for something else. No big deal it’s only $10 right? Well apparently $10 is a big deal to the rude employee behind the counter. He argues with us for about 10 minutes about how we were wrong about the smelliness of the fish and he wouldn’t exchange it for us because the wrong sticker had been put on the package. He put the wrong sticker on when he sold it to us the first time. Extremely rude and unwilling to assist us. He finally gave us the exchange out of obvious annoyance and basically threw the package in our faces. The employee had blue hair and a very aggressive tone. I hope not all the employees who work here are like this. Probably won’t come back solely from this poor service experience.

R. Michael Lake

Good food informal dining eating in the kitchen atmosphere

Michele Pisano

The freshest fish and chips that I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. very casual. order at counter and they bring food.

Chip Hogg

Super fresh, delicious simple seafood. A great value. If you're looking for a great seafood restaurant where the locals go this is it!

Mike Sullivan

Best Lobster salad roll ever.

Frank Denette

This place has the best seafood you can get.

jo ann lewis

Our favorite place for casual seafood on all of Aquidneck Island! We’ve been eating at their family’s restaurants longer than we can remember. My personal favorite is the fried whole belly clams. My husband’s is the Rhode Island clam chowder. And the swordfish sandwich. Our extended family says the stuffies are the best, the clam boil is just as good as grandma’s, and the fish and chips are perfect. Don’t forget the mussels and steamers - delicious and healthy since they’re not fried. I’ve also bought fish in the fish market to cook myself. Always a treat! It can be crazy crowded on nice summer weekends. Come early - no reservations taken. Too bad the tourists have discovered our favorite local place - but it’s worth the wait.

Rev7ful .

The place has an interesting set up, unique, the place has an open floor plan and it nice. But You have to get your own pitcher of water from a stand up cooler, and select a drink from another if you don't want water. The RI chowder was over seasoned- to much pepper. The portions are good, and the fried food is good too. But the TV shows the picked were bad, it was a insect episode and turned my stomach off. Not sure what type of coleslaw this place gives :/

Curtis Hill Hill

The best choice for seafood fresh off their own boats and cooked properly

Nobel Vale

This is one of those no-frills establishments that gets right to the point; order what you want at the cashier, sit down, and feast on some great food! My friends and I stumbled upon this place and we were all glad that we did. I came in here and do not think too much of it, but once I sat down to eat, the food was so good! I started by sharing some oysters, fried oysters, and getting the Portuguese Fish Chowder and a Stuffie for myself. My favorites were definitely the fish chowder and Stuffie. The fish chowder had a great spicy kick to it and had a nice helping of seafood in it (shrimp, scallops, and cod), along with Chouico! The Stuffie was a stuffed Quahog with clams, chourico, peppers, and various spices. For the main course, I got the Fisherman's Platter which had fried clams, shrimp, scallops, and cod along with french fries. Wow this dish was so filling! Everything was cooked and fried well and a ton of flavor. I could feel my arteries clogging throughout this meal but I survived and the food was worth it! I also got to try a piece of my friend's lobster roll which was also satisfying. Much of this food is very on point, and how the layout of this restaurant is, you get straight to the point. I hope to come back here again!

Herb Grice

Amazing, fresh and delicious. I had the fried combo and the whole belly clams are probably the best I've ever had. The wait staff are friendly and quick too, great service.

Terevos

Fantastic food. Lobster roll is outstanding. Good Chowder and great fish.

Angelly Pimentel

I love it here! Seafood is ALWAYS fresh. Everything is tasty and delicious. They have a lot of sides to choose from and the portions are great! I also enjoy it’s casual atmosphere. Great place to enjoy great food.

Tracy Arnold

Freshest seafood I’ve had in ages. Service was great and fast and I will be making this a frequent stop when I come down this way.

Zachary Janke

Excellent service! great place for a filling lunch, or just going out for fun. Definitly reccomend!

Deborah Ellis

Had the fisherman's platter and all the seafood tasted the same. Platter included clams, scallops, shrimp, and cod. Oh and calamari was also on the menu as part of the meal. The waitress was able to find two calamari attached as one. Something wrong with the batter. Ate here once before and it was great and I don't typically eat fried foods however I had a friend here from out of town and raved about the food so we opted for the variety of seafood. Was very disappointed and was given a minimal compensation for the meal that we couldn't eat. I hope the owners take this review seriously and try to remedy the problem.

I ordered baked scallops. It was a generous portion and I was offered my choice of sides. I was able to get a hot veggie and a salad no questions asked. Nice staff, great food!

This day of the Mexican Griswold's family vacation took us to Newport Beach which was very nice (NOTE careful with the beach the water has a lot of red seaweed as you enter the water) YET forgot how beautiful and deadly the sun can be with its breeze. As a family, when in Rome, seafood time so we selected this place. First, its located on a traveled road so careful as you turn into the parking area. This parking lot is shared with a fit club so enjoy them working out as you walk to the entrance. Here starts the tricky stuff. This main entrance lets you select the fish market to left as you enter, a to go line and eat in line. The menus are on the counter and you select your food like if it was Long John Silvers. The cashier made the experience a vexing one with her demeanor and body language. Once we placed the order, the lobster wobbled to the small sitting area where you can observe the traffic of both order in or take out lines. The I ordered the clam chowder which was very tasty and fresh. As an appetizer, we had Kung Pao Calamari which was good yet thrown together and not mixed to ensure the flavor covered all the calamari. Honey had fish and chips which was average and the little lobsters had pizza grilled cheese which is what it is for them. Finally, I had the Baked Nantucket which was very flavorful. The different seafood mixed with its sauce was so fresh and woke up my sunburned mouth. The portion was very small but its taste was huge. Yes its a good place if you can accept the bad parking site, the grumpy cashier and size of eating area. Total price $65 (NOTE It's been a JOY in New Engalnd area past the state of New York)

Well organized, good food and reasonably priced food.

A must when in the area. Ordering is unique and needs an extra minute to understand in my case but once it's done, table service is perfect. The food comes out warm tasty and oh so fresh. We had the belly clams who were extra large, since it is an acquired taste I would have preferred to be told at the time we placed the order as they were uncommonly large and not what we traditionally expect. Mussels were outstanding so was the fish and chips, lobster was a bit tough but it was early in the season. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

Anthony's is a great place for Seafood! We have visited more than a dozen times. If Anthony's had 50 more seats they would be full. A very popular restaurant with a full fish market run out of the same building. Parking is always at a premium. We find looking out back next to the gym can serve you well or play the wait for someone to leave game. When you enter your greeted with the fish market. To your right are 2 lines to order. Make sure to grab a menu from the base of the sign so you know what you want before you get to the register. Once you place your order your given a tray with a number. The Host will sit you when a spot opens. Remember to grab your drink before the register. Alcohol can be ordered when you pay. Your food is brought out to you by servers. They also offer take out. The Take out register is separate around the corner to your left. If you want to sit at any of the tables outside you HAVE to go to the takeout reg. But have someone save your seat if you can. Dress code is beach casual. You'll see every attire possible. To sum things up. Foods Good! We'll be back.

While on a tour of the Elms in Newport, a lady working inside the mansion recommended this place for lunch or dinner. On a busy Saturday evening, it appeared that the majority of the diners were locals. The line was about 10 persons long at 7:30pm (one hour before closing) and it took about thirty minutes to get a seat. However, the food was fresh and delicious. Friendly and attentive service. You can’t go wrong with the fish & chips or the swordfish sandwich. Skip the hustle & bustle of Newport, RI and head to Anthony’s on your way back north toward Boston or wherever else your final destination may be. This is where the locals dine, and for a good reason.

weekend in Rhode Island and we were looking for seafood. Not big eaters. Went to Anthony,s had clam chowder and whole belly clams. Clams we tough and Chowder was tasty, but full of potatoes. Disappointed in the evening. For the amount of money we spent, should have been better and not so chewy.

Yummy! I had the fish & chips. Generous portion. The fish was perfect - crispy on the outside - white & flakey on the inside.

Delicious seafood and superb service

Amazing! Don’t leave without trying the lobster roll or the clam chowder. I would probably eat a shoe if it was dipped in their cocktail sauce. I’m not a fish and chips fan, but their cod was lightly breaded and won me over. Wonderful place!
