This Fish Shop is included in the category of Fishing store.
This is a great store in the middle of several great fly fishing rivers. The owners and staff have great knowledge of local waters and are very helpful. Check out their blog for tips on seasonal flies and best spots to fish.
I purchased a few flies from their website for Steelhead and I am very pleased with the product. I ordered the Big Gulp sculpin and the Sticky sculpin. Not only did I finally find these flies which I had been looking for but they are BEAUTIFULLY done. Very impressive. I will definitely be purchasing from this shop again. Thanks!
Excellent, friendly, expert advice and help. The two day winter steelhead class with Mark and Hawkeye was great. Thank you both.
I recently took a guided trip with Frank Day who is one of the staff members with this shop. Great experience all around. He brought everything I needed for the day and even managed to get me into a couple of fish. This was my first time casting a two handed spey rod but with Frank's help I picked it up well enough to get the job done. He was very patient and never seemed frustrated. Even when we had to spend an hour or so rescuing a group that had flipped their raft and lost a bunch of gear including an paddle, Frank maintained a cool and professional attitude. Awesome day on the water and Frank is a real wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things fishing.
Awesome shop! Stopped in to have someone take a look at an old rod and reel that I bought wanting to learn to fly fish and Mark took us under his wing. Thanks Mark and Tony for a great experience and for the tips. We'll be back soon, hopefully with pictures of our catch!
very fast service with accuracy
One of the best shops in the West! They know their business and are always willing to help! RMCO - Portland, OR
I like this place. Not pushy. Lots of selection
I've purchased many items from this shop. Recently I purchased some hooks that were packaged wrong. Mark was on top of it and had it reconciled in no time!! Great shop and GREAT customer service!!
Big selection
Nice fly shop!! Great help on local fishing and they have lots of gear.
Good experience buying at The fly fishing shop. Patty and Frank were really kind and helped me with my purchase. recommended place!
Great selection of fly tying materials. Always well packaged and ships promptly. Thanks guys. You always get my business.
The Fly Fishing Shop provides excellent service from knowledgeable folks. They also provide a weekly email publication that contains useful information on fly selection, products, and services. A first class operation.
Always helpful especially for beginner spey fishing. Really appreciate the guys taking the time to explain something.
Love this place very knowledgeable people very nice selection pretty good on price I think this is the only place that I've ever given 5 Stars to
The Fly Fishing Shop has been my home shop since my husband got me into fly fishing several years ago. Outstanding selection of gear, particularly two-handed rods, fast shipping and friendly, low-key, personalized service. These are the guys (and gals) who helped me buy my first waders, put studs on my boots, found me the perfect 6-weight rod based on their personal setup, and provide an endless stream of gifts and gift certificates for my husband. I've taken a women's fly fishing class, a basic spey fishing class (one instructional day, one day on the water fishing), and met great instructors and guides through The Fly Fishing Shop. Well worth a visit, otherwise you can shop online!
Ordered an item from them off their website. Quick response, quick service, quick delivery at a decent price.
Nice service.
I needed a heavier rod for a place I go where 8 to 10 lb trout are an almost every day occurrence. I was impressed with the shop. They had a rod that fit the bill perfectly and felt really good in my hand. $300, that can't be beat. I went back up to Trillium Lake and caught a couple of 2 to 3 pounders with no strain. Ready for the trip.
Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, good inventory, and good response time. Great shop to order from online, or on the way over the mountain. Keep up the good work.
A great fly shop...well stocked, great prices , and unbeatable service from knowledgable and motivated staff...these guys KNOW fly-fishing and how to best equip newbies and old farts alike. Highly recommended!
They had my Airflo stuff out the day I ordered it, great site to pick up fly gear.
Right items fast to Australia. Great response to emails and also suitable packaging. Arrived totally as and when promised at a good price. Thoroughly recommend
Huge selection, great prices, awesome service. Great guides and schools as well. A real fly shop.
Ordered a lot from these guys. They have always got the best stuff!! When it is not in stock, they call and we always work out best timing or an alternative choice. Their expertise is as good as it gets. I fish with 2 handed rods frequently and am always asking for best line configuration for a specific rod. They have always come up with a great solution. Love their flies and some of the stream side equipment
I have placed several Internet orders for various items from the Welches fly shop. Simply stated, they are the BEST! Each order has been complete or if items were back ordered or out-of-stock, I was promptly contacted with suggestions that might work for me. The items were great quality and easily exchanged if I was not satisfied. Excellent service, excellent speed of filling my orders, and shipping was prompt. If they were to improve on anything, I would ask them to carry a larger volume of different brands of fly fishing equipment. They are one of my favorite fly fishing websites. Thanks to The Fly Fishing Shop for all you do.
For those of us in Washington and heading south to fish Oregon, its a great first stop to find out the latest info and stock up on flies & gear for the Oregon waters. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Paul B.
I have purchased several rods, reels and lines from flyfishusa. The staff has always been very helpful in line selection for specific fishing applications. I highly recommend this store. Great service.
A great fly shop to visit and just as great to order from online.
Shopped at the store last year and bought flies online this year, both experiences were great. Very fast shipping.
Super duper!
My purchased at the shop has been very speedy and customer service was great. Talked to the owner at the 2015 Sandy Spey Clave and he was very helpful in selection of a Simms exstream jacket and ordered and received merchandise FAST. I thank you Mark and staff for great service. I am from Red Bluff, California and went to the spey clave organized by Mark Buckmann owner of The Fly Fishing USA. Great shop and good people to work with. If you NEVER BEEN TO THE SANDY RIVER SPEY CLAVE It is on again 2016 in May, 13,14,15, 2016 GO TO IT AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS. YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT TIME , LEARN A LOT AND WILL NEVER REGRET IT. Thanks again Mark. See you next year.......Mel
I purchased a spey rod and Nautilus Reel from this fly shop and found the people there to be knowledable and very helpful. I suspect that collectively the owner, Mark Bachman and his staff know more about steelhead and salmon on the fly than any shop I have been to. (And I've been to too many). Mark Bachman is the pioneer of the spey fishing clave held every year in Oregon. If you get an opportunity I recomend it highly too. Tim Buffington
These gentlemen talked with me for nearly an hour to help me get set up for the Clackamas. Great shop
They had the flies I have been looking for for awhile. Thanks.
Where do I begin? Let's start with the original call to the semi rude sales person that answered the initial call. I called to check on the availability of a Tarpon Flyline that I saw advertised on their website. After a lot of confusion on whether they actually had the line they advertise the sales guy indicated they did have it although something didn't sound right because there is 2 versions of the line I wanted. He assured my they had the correct one he was holding it in his hand (an important point to remmeber based on the end results) I processed the order giving him my credit card and instructing them to ship the line to a USA address (Im in Canada). I had arranged for my supplier in the USA to ship the line to me in Canada with an inventory order that they were holding for me until the fly line arrived. Next I receive a payment confirmation receipt for my purchase and it's the wrong product listed. I call again and get Mike on the phone he assures me that they have the correct line coming to me and the receipt is wrong. He says it has shipped. Next day I receive a shipping notice from UPS that they have created a shipping label. Not shipped just created a label. I tell my supplier in the US to hold my inventory order until my fly line arrives it should be there soon! I check with my supplier about 4 days later ... a reasonable time for shipping; "did that fly line arrive yet"? Nope not yet... I tell them to hold my inventory coming to Canada until the line arrives! I check the tracking number from the label creation notification from UPS.. It shows the same status "Label created only" I call them again. Mike answers and wants my name to check my order. I spell my name..he tells me Im not in the system. I respell my name a couple of more times and he tells me OH your name is in our system misspelled. Hmm a little strange because it's spelled correctly on the receipt they sent me as well as the UPS notice I received. I tell Mike that UPS tracking indicates it isn't in transit..he tells me that their shipping log says it was shipped and I should call UPS. I call UPS they have no record of a pickup on that waybill number. I call back and tell Mike the news! He tells me that he just got off the phone with UPS and the line will be delivered today. I recheck on line and UPS still indicates it hasn't been picked up. I wait until 5pm and call my supplier "did that fly line show up yet"? "NO nothing showed up yet" . I call UPS again to check..they tell me it was never shipped! So I call the FLY SHOP again ...they insist that they spoke to UPS and it's in transit. I wait another day! Call my supplier again end of day and guess what? " Nothing showed up again. Now Im fuming because my supplier is hold inventory that is shipping to me waiting for this fly line. I call the Fly Shop again and talk to Mike. He tells me "I can't ship your fly line"!!!! What? you told me it was shipped and you spoke to UPS. He says" I cant ship your FLYLINE and I'll give you a refund"! There you have my experience with the FLYSHOP USA. What happened I'll never know the truth and at this point I dont care. Waiting to see if a refund really has been put back on my card. Maybe maybe not.
I've ordered from The Fly Fishing Shop on a number of occasions over the years mainly for Steelhead Fly's. Their prices and product offering are some of the best around and their customer service is great. Shipping has always been fast, considering the fly's I've ordered are coming to Canada (Calgary, Alberta). When I need my fix of Steelhead fly's, these are the guys I'll be using!
A great shop with a great assortment of fly fishing flies and accessories. They filled my order quickly and shipped it to me fast. A great organization to deal with - I'll be back for more!
Great online transaction for an Echo Micro Practice Rod. Reasonable shipping cost to Canada and fast shipping of order! Thanks!
A very dependable online source for all your fishing needs. They are particularly qualified to advise about Spey equipment.
Ordered goose shoulder stiffs as those available in UK are never of very good quality. The feathers were very good quality and will tie nice married wings. They took 4 weeks to arrive here in the UK. I was happy to pay for the quality which is not available here. Many thanks. Ian Bedfordshire U.K.
Great place. I stop by as often as I can.
Excellent web page...expert advise on the phone...everything you need and want...
This place is awesome, my orders are always on time. I will continue to do business with The Fly Fishing Shop.
Just got the feeling that the sales person had no interest in talking to someone who asks dumb questions, cause I don't really fish, but wanted to buy a licence. Two questions in about residency and fishing license requirements and I'm told by this guy 'well you are S out of luck then', but saying the s word, right in front of my 7 year old son. Totally not cool. Have some decency. Tried to take my one star down to zero.
Great place, people, service
I have never visited the shop; however, I use them religiously for line and gear purchases. They have knowledgable people that are generous with both their time and information. They are my #1 internet and phone fly fishing gear resource.
I ordered online from these guys, they were out of a color pattern on a tarpon fly I wanted and someone there e-mailed me immediately and laid out my options for a different color pattern. Im new to Flyfishing and needed a little help deciding which fly would be a good replacement. They helped me out and got the order squared away and in the mail quickly. The prices on their flies are about as good as Ive been able to find online too! The customer service has earned my repeat business for sure.
I have made several purchases from this site. Their products are first rate and their prices are excellent. Delivery has always been quick and efficient. I will continue to shop here.
Great shop, knowledgable staff, got exactly what I was looking for. Also great knowledge of the rivers and flies for near by rivers.
The Fly Fishing Shop is my first stop when looking to purchase fly fishing equipment. Over the years I have purchased several Winston rods as well as Lamson reels, TFO reel, waders, various lines, etc. The prices have always been the most competitive, no taxes, and they always covered my shipping. My sole wish is that they would start selling salmon/steelhead flies as a quantity of one instead of quantities of three. You don't always need three copies. Anyway, great people. I highly recommend.
I purchased mitts on-line. They arrived quickly and there were no hassles. I'd buy from these folks again.
Super happy kitty to greet you as you walk in (I'm betting she's a better Fisher than me:) with even more amazing, knowledgeable staff great selection and locally made gear. it's a hidden gem!!!
Great Service they always have the right stuff. Been buying from them for many years with out any problems.
I have learned many techniques from them. Most of my recent purchases have been with them including rods, boots, flies, lines, and etc. The group is always helpful and provide suggestions. Just feels good to walk in almost like home.
Excellent and knowledgeable customer service
Mike K from Michigan , order some Skulpin Egg Suckin flies. When they came into your store they were not right, so you sent me some that ere just TIED awesome and very deadly for Steelhead. Caught my first one the long tail Skulpin. Great shop fair people. I would only buy them. Thanks Fly Fishing Shop. :)
All the gear and the knowledge you need. If they sold pepperoni sticks, this place would be perfect.
the most rudest place I have ever been to in my life I stopped in there to stretch my legs on the drive home Amman walked in from out of state hunting some information on where to fish and they basically told him you can go fish across the street or wherever the heck you want to I have never in my life seen a customer treated so poorly in a fly shop thank goodness I don't fish this area that would be the only store around it would almost be worth the money and the time to drive the extra hundred miles to Portland for a real fly shop this place is a joke you couldn't pay me enough to give this store my business and keep in mind I was not the one they were rude to
The service is great and the expertise is unsurpassed anywhere
They have everything you need or want. Sales staff is very knowledgeable. Also enjoy just visiting and talking about local fishing.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff to help prepare for our fishing trip.
Very good service , great range of products and very helpful advice whe requested.
Good supply of tying materials. The staff is a bit slow. It took me 20 minutes to check out with 2 other customers waiting. I finally asked, "Is anybody else working?" to the guy spooling a customer's reel. He walked back and got another kid from the office. They are apparently big fans of Mako reels, but they don't stock them.
I'm from Chile, I buy in the US in this online store , everything comes fast and in perfect condition, valuable tools that are not available in my country for the practice of fly fishing .
you guz are awesome, very polite & helpful, keep up the good work : )
My husband ordered some very basic fly fishing supplies (Rio tippet and dry shake) from this shop on aust 5th. The shop was out of stock on the dry shake and wouldn't ship any of the order until they could include that. Ok, not great but he was willing to wait. He received notification on August 14th that the order shipped. On August 24th still had not received it. We are in CA so not that far away. Checked the tracking and turns out the shop sent it to some address in Illinois. Asked them via email to just refund the order since it's been nearly a month and still no products. No reply. Husband called this morning. They won't refund. Said they re-shipped the items to us and to get a refund we will need to send them back. Really? Not what we asked for at this point. Incompetent and unhelpful staff. Will not order from them again.
Great people to deal with. Quality products correctly filled to my order every time. Fast, fast, fast delivery. The only thing that would make me happier is if they were closer and I could shop there.
Always helpful, great inventory and quick service
Great shop, great service, at competitive prices
Mark & Patty run a first class operation. Always helpful and knowledgeable with the best fly fishing gear around!
Being a novice I find this site very interesting and informative and would recommend it to others.
The Fly Fishing Shop was great with purchasing a new reel, they made sure this was the reel i needed and wanted. Recommend them fully!

Main sponser of the Sandy River Spey Clave - Awesome spey fly fishing expo!
Honest and they keep their promises. I buy there with confidence.
Bought a gift card for a friend. She loves it!!!
Excellent service and communication; quick shipping. All of which is why I keep ordering from this shop!
My First Jet Sled Fishing Trip Had the privilege of going out on the Jet Sled in the Deschutes with the bosses yesterday. Most relaxing day ever! Not a productive day for catching fish, but the scenery was beautiful. We are only about 1 ½ hours from the shop, but everything changes so drastically in that short distance. Here we have Douglas fir and cotton wood and an abundant amount of underbrush. The Deschutes has juniper, pine and a few cotton wood trees, very little underbrush and an abundant amount of sage brush. We did see 4 or 5 deer, sheep, and a coyote; wildlife is always fun to watch. The sun was shining bright, which is not the best for fishing, but great for relaxing. When the day was done, this chick slept most of the way home. I already told you it was a very relaxing day. If you fly fish, sign up for one of our classes, you will love the trip and fishing is always great, catch one or not. You are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, see birds and deer you don’t always get to see. The fishermen and women are always friendly and courteous, they wave and if you are in need of some help they are there for you. I can’t wait to return to the wonderful Deschutes River!
Great selection - great service. I'm a little slow in getting to this, but I think The Fly Fishing's Shop's service warrants a review. I live in the Desert Southwest and was planning a trip to British Colombia for some Spring steelhead fishing. I tie my own flies, but not much in the way of relevant materials available here in New Mexico. An on-line search and I ended up doing business with the Fly Fishing Shop because their website was so well organized - it was easy to find the materials I wanted. I ordered on a Sunday and first thing Monday I received a call from the shop - they thought my Fly Shank order was peculiar and want to be sure I knew what I was ordering. They were right - slightly shorter shanks worked better. The order was completed and shipped that morning. I received it a couple of days later. I am totally pleased!
Good prices, fast shipping!
Nice gear, but service there is condescending. Kept trying to lecture me about a river I live on and am in all the time. No thanks. Not going back. Local or not, they're never getting my business.
Great selection and service
Helpful staff, good selection, and an engaging owner. Will be back!
Lots of selection.
I have not been to the physical location (it must be amazing); however, I do periodically order flies and tying material through their webpage. While the website is outdated finding materials is easy enough. Most importantly they have the best stock of spey and steelhead tying materials anywhere. They also have well tied and priced flies. Great shop and service!!!!! Hope to get out there someday to actually visit...and fish.
Larger well stocked shop. Staff knowledgeable of local fishing & gear.
Very helpful and full of information
Wonderful people to eat with.. I was looking for a particular fly box(s) and they had some but needed to order to fill my order. Called me and let me know. Great service.
Fast service. Very good price
Mike was super helpful recommending a spey Scandi line (I am a beginner) , and the delivery was flawless, got my oreder at home in a couple of days.
I've been buying from Flyfishusa for years. Good selection, good quality. low prices, and excellent service. If they don't have all of my order in stock they ship what they have, and ship the rest when available. Sometimes the delay is only a few days, and frankly I'd be willing to wait, but that is their commitment to customer service. Also, I love their Fly Dry hackle dryer. It's the best and lasts for ages before needing replacement.
The Fly Fishing Shop went above and beyond straightening out my order for a new fly line. Typical of the great customer service I have received over the years.
This is the first time I use them, and was happy with the handling of the order. I am planing to use them again, after i get more familiar with their website. I am not a professional fly tier, i tie flies for my own pleasure, a go fishing when for trout when weather permits ( I live in Katy Texas and there is not a lot of opportunities to do so. I just came back from a trip to Chile and went south to fish in some of the big rivers, cought some nice trouts and got the fever for fly fishing.
Great shop, super helpful advice from the dude working there.
Stopped in for first, and last time, this weekend. Needed a new fly line. Asked for what I wanted and a belligerent employee lied to me saying "they don't make that anymore, you can't find that." Got home and the line I was looking for is on Amazon for $20 less. I would rather by local, however, when retailers can't treat customers with respect and employees make up info, it makes it difficult to do so. When you are on Highway 26, pass this place by. Wish the employees wore nametags, I would gladly post the individual's name who lied to me for his employer to see.
Excellent service; efficient, effective and attentive. Purchased flies from UK and the service couldn't have been any better. Many thanks.
Bought my third fly rod from this great store. I live in North Carolina and am such a fan of this store that I traveled to Oregon this Spring to take a 2 day Steelhead class to prepare me for a trip to Alaska this fall. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and how much I learned.
Very friendly staff with plenty of advice on where is biting. Huge store.
I've made several purchases from The Fly Fishing Shop. Service has always been first rate and efficient. Shipments have always been prompt. My favorite fly from this shop is Mark's Sardina Fly. For catching large tarpon in Puerto Rico's waters it is unsurpassed, in my opinion. Thanks to the fine folks at The Fly Fishing Shop for keeping it in stock!
The Fly Fishing Shop in Welches, Oregon is the greatest fly shop I know of. After visiting there for the first time, my passion for fly fishing was reignited, and I have now become an expert in fly fishing thanks to their flyfishing insider newsletter. The shop truly is a cache of knowledge about fly fishing; whether it be through talking with the staff in the shop or looking up topics on their website - they have it all from freshwater to saltwater and everything in between!
I buy from Flyfish USA for items I cant easily get in Britain. always get great service and for international buying fast delivery. The news letter is always of interest. Keep it going guys
I've been a customer of the Fly Fishing Shop since the early 1980s and have watched it grow from humble beginnings. One thing that hasn't changed in all those years is the quality of the products and the expertise and integrity of Mark and Patty and their staff. I would recommend them without hesitation. You won't find a better shop anywhere.
Good selection of fly fishing equipment and fly tying materials. Very quick shippers. Always helpful if you need to talk to them.
Very cool store and veterans appreciated there....
