Fresh. Fresh. Friendly. And did I mention fresh? Oh, the smoked fish is awesome too. Annnnd, it's the best fish and chips joint around. Highly recommend the halibut and chips. Gluten free to boot! People complain about price—but I say you get what you pay for. Its damn good fish all around. Worth every penny and then some. You only live once. Enjoy the good stuff. Will definitely be back for more!

I can no long do business here! Last two times there my fish and fries had to MUCH salt on them! I place my order and request to go light with the salt. The guy had a ATTITUDE after I may my request and paid and put my change down on the counter in a not so friendly way! I thought about this for thirty seconds and went back to CANCEL my order. I told the guy I don't know if you are having a bad day. But being rude to me is not the thing to do! If there are no customers you won't have a job and the business will close. No responds from the guy!!! Abd this is why I am changing my previous rating of 5 Stars to a 1 Star.

I've never had a better experience time and time Again! Their fresh fish is the best and their wine selections always pair very well. They are knowledgeable, helpful and offer the finest. Just ask for advice and they have it from recipes to which wine to how many servings per piece or pound. I really hope they stay in the neighborhood

Oh my! I just had the best fried shrimp ever! Maybe because all of their seafood is fresh not frozen AND sustainable. So far anything that i have ordered at the window has been delicious. I keep telling them i wish they would also do fried oysters.

The prices are high, but the quality is high as well. Expect the price to be double that in a grocery, but know that you are getting the best. I could eat a dozen of the in-house smoked scallops on accident. The fish and chips stand is amazing, also a bit pricey, but well worth it. My new favorite fish n' chips in Portland.

Great service, great people, great fish n’ chips! You’d never know they were gluten free!!! Everyone there is down to Earth and always making sure you’re taken care of. Complimentary h2o inside and PLEASE check out their house smoked fish! I can’t make up my mind between the House Smoked Cod or the House Smoked Spicy Salmon! Take a House Smoked Scallop for the road, it’s heavenly!

They are so low-key about being gluten-free that we almost missed it! They serve from a window, tables are outside, but the fish market around the corner welcomed us to sit inside. The fish was very fresh, and the best GF batter I've had. It isn't exactly like regular batter, but so close most people don't seem to realize they just ate gluten free. The price is high for "just take out" - but incredible for a GF freshly prepared meal.

Wow, wow, Wow!!! Finding a good fish market in Portland compared to Seattle is near impossible. But trust me this place is a total gem. Great quality product, awesome staff and a really cool location. I love this place!!! Parking can be problematic, but welcome to Portland.

So excited I found this place! I make sushi at home and have been search for a reliable sashimi provider. Great shop with fresh, high quality, beautiful options. The fish and chip window is great and often has a wait. Last night we bought some crab cakes, they were excellent. This will be my go-to fish supplier.

Locally sourced from Oregon and Washington, by conscientious and sustainably focused fisherman, ranchers, and farmers, the Shirley's offer some of the best product you'll find..short of doing it yourself. They even have a take out window for their own hot and ready to eat, fish and chips (Halibut or Cod). Sooo good.

This is a review of their fish and chips: They're pretty great! I like how you can choose what type of fish you want. I took it to-go and it still tasted pretty great after a 30 minute drive. Friendly people who helped me out as I walked into the storefront area wondering where I could order.

6 stars! Fish n chips were as good or better than any from restaurants in the U.K. (per my Brit wife). And it was Gluten free beer batter style breading that you'd never know was gluten free unless you asked.

8.99$ for two pieces of 4-5 inch long cod? 12.50$ for three. And they aren't even thick pieces either. Fish is small, not much seasoning so very bland, fries are good but way to salty. Honestly not worth the price, parking, wait, or the rude as hell people that live in the area.

First time trying the cooked halibut fish and wanted only one piece to buy n try. Menu showed a single piece available but staff explained that I had to buy a full order for $15.95! Decided to speak with owner/manager to suggest they allow, especially for seniors, and charge appropriately with upcharge but he politely yet calliously said NO. Getting one piece is not an option unless I am with someone else and 'add on' to their order. Only today am I glad I have fries to eat cause turns out that i am not that found of their fried halibut, altho love the tartar sauce. Now I won't return for inside fresh fish either (which I do like here) because of the lack of caring!

Great fresh fish selection, really friendly staff, and a ton of smoked salmon, cod, scallops, and other goodies smoked in-house. Even better, the prices here are comparable to the grocery stores on Woodstock, but I have no doubt that the fish is fresher than you would find at Safeway or New Seasons.

OM, NOM NOM I'm going to have to say the the fish and chips are the best I've had, and I've had a lot. Really good portions, nice light batter so fish comes out super crispy on the outside and tender,juicy,flakey, on the inside. Although the quality of the food is consistent, I think they may have more than one cook, so the taste does change on occasion, but not enough to matter.

Easily the best selection of fried fish that I'm aware of in the northwest. The coating is quite tasty with a hint of beer flavor. Certainly not heavy. I got the seabass cheeks, which was on special. Great texture and flavor! Fries are perfectly fine, but not the main event here. Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were very good. All in all, very happy to have found this place and I look forward to buying some fish from the monger/market department.

Highest quality fish you will find in the city. Great selection of wild caught seafood. Family run and caught. Prices will be higher than supermarket fish but you can't compare them in terms of quality. Their fish n chip window it's good for a quick bite and often has special varieties available (rockfish, steelhead, salmon, etc).

Very good cod and shrimp fish and chips! But, no need to order the more expensive halibut, as two of the three pieces were overcooked and no longer soft and flaky. Also, fairly pricey for the size of the baskets, as another fish market In Oregon City and a Columbia Brewery in Hollywood serve more for the money.

Yes! All wild fish here! Was looking for sushi grade fish in Portland on the beginning of one of our snow storms and they were open. Smoked fish here is also delicious and all house made. Melt in your mouth delicious!

We came here because of the rave reviews. We had fish and chips and were very disappointed. The people were nice and the bathroom was clean. But the fish was poorly trimmed and badly cooked. The cod had dark, fishy parts left on, and the batter was soggy. The chips were limp. I ended up eating about a quarter of it, but only because I was hungry. Alas, we won't be back.
