Specials daily, often my favorites are blackened fish or coconut prawns! I was notorious for getting extremely stoned before ordering a few options, all of which come with fries, a lemon wedge, slaw and tartar or cocktail sauce! It ends up being enough food to nibble family style with a couple people, or gorge by yourself! The staff is Generally quite friendly, and the service window pumps good food out on the regular! It was generally easier then trying to deep fat fry fish at home, and stink up the house... However, they also have a decent selection of fresh fish, to take home and prepare yourself! When it comes to tasty, crispy fried, quick fish and chips... Downtown, this is the place to go!

(They were very fresh and so good) We dined outside with limited seating, we sat up to a bar style table. The line to order was long and it was a warm day. (They do offer an igloo style water tank of water with cups .. No charge) Lovely to see a few leashed dogs enjoying the family time. There's indoor eating/seating where they sell fresh seafood as well. A very popular place to eat!

Otherwise a solid 4 stars...5 stars if more sides & and a beer batter option were available...they have what they do now down so well I can understand why they wouldn't want to change anything but, also having everything down pat means possibly you're ready to expand the menu a little... a tuna melt with some of that awesome albacore I saw the guys breaking down the last time I was there might not be a bad place to start. A cold 'Louie' style shrimp salad with some of those nice little bay shrimp caught around here on a bed of organic greens & with garnishes, or on a toasted croissant perhaps... Whoops, cut me off! Anyway, great job folks...stellar tartar sauce!

Our first time here and we LOVED it! I had the special of the day: fish tacos. No sides and drink was extra, but WORTH IT! The fish was so fresh, and the taco filling was excellent! Overall, the second best fish taco I've ever had (comparing from fish tacos had in Florida, the Caymans, Oregon, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Hawaii)! My girlfriend had the coconut shrimp plate and was VERY happy. She's not a huge fan of seafood, or wasn't, until I introduced her to fresh seafood. This definitely helped, as the shrimp were huge, generously portioned and DELICIOUS! 10/10 will eat here, when I get a chance to visit Oregon again!

This place is great! I'm new to Eugene and only found it about a week ago. I've been 3 times since. The prices for the restaurant side of things are incredibly fair! The quality of their fish is beyond wonderful, not to mention all the other fabulous things they have. The only thing I wish this location would do is have grilled fish and their lunch specials along with fried. They do have grilled in another location however and I love this place. I've gone here for years. We went there one day and they were even having a benefit for some group and making paella outside in a huge skillet, with all their fresh fish. Killer!!!

Lunch (cod fish and chips) was delicious. I also bought some lovely cheeses. There were fewer choices last time I visited, and I was worried they were going to stop selling cheese. The case was stuffed today though, and they were generous with the samples. Be prepared to pay premium prices for cheese here, but the selection and quality are worth it. If you are a connoisseur, you owe it to yourself to shop at Newman's. I picked up some sea bass as well, which was excellent. The prices for the fish are pretty competitive, given the quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I don't live in Eugene anymore, but I make a point of going to Newman's when I happen to be in town.

When I went to Newman's Fish Company I was delighted because this was one of my favorite places when I was in college. I had moved out of town 10 years ago. When google said it was open, I was excited that I got off work early enough to treat myself. After waiting in line, at the takeout window I let the server know that I planned to buy food at that the fish market adjoining so I wasn’t sure if we could combine totals. She let me know that the market was closing and if I head over there, I might be able catch them. The door still open, employees inside and lights on. The market had pulled all their product at 6pm, I outwardly expressed this was a bummer because this was a favorite places and I wanted to but product. A different clerk said, they had closed their registers and so were unable to serve me. Understandable. After some consideration, I asked if I could buy product and just pay at the at the takeout Window that adjoined their business. That’s when it went south. The Assistant Manager elevated his tone and said “We are closed, we are done.” His arms like an umpire signaling a safe player used his arms as the final exclamation that the transaction was over. It was done in such a way one would think it was have thought it was a break up barrier to some bad relationship. I left to get my fish at the takeout window. Before leaving, I decided I want to tell the Assistant Manager why it was so upsetting. I explained that “this place used to be a delight and his response really spoiled the experience.” He said, “well clearly we were closed”. I let him know, “I was here, I was giving business to another part of their business.” I said, “yes, the product was pulled, but I didn’t know how easy it was to access and when I offered that the bill be pulled up at the takeout I was trying to problem solve since the registers was the main barrier. Had they let me buy fish, I would have purchased $20 worth of scallops”. He said, ”well its’ all just merchandise” I said, “well if my $20 doesn’t mean anything to him…” He said he could see how upset I was an apologized and said he hopes I come back and condescendingly reminded me they are open 6 days a week and that they close at 6.” I replied it might be a long time before I’m willing to come back and he responded with, ”Well that’s your choice.” I left immediately following. This place used to be my delight. It was a reward when I was a poor College student in the neighborhood. Now that I’m in a much more successful place in life, I want to return and by the fish I couldn’t afford before to celebrate where I am in life now and share that food with my new husband. Your right Dude, is my Choice, and following this experience I went to their local competitor and purchased 3 times as much as I intended to spend at Newman’s. It’s my choice to spend my dollar with companies who recognize that that it’s not just merchandise exchange, it’s an opportunity for customer experience. I choose to support a business that recognizes that it isn’t merchandise, it a product they can be proud. I choose to support a business that I don’t have to argue with in attempts to but their product and give them my business. The great other staff is what made this rating a 2 vs. a 1 star.

This place is great! I'm new to Eugene and only found it about a week ago. I've been 3 times since. The prices for the restaurant side of things are incredibly fair! The Chowder is great, with big hunks of clam in it. The market is on the high side, but I feel like I'm getting what I pay for. Super fresh. Super high quality. Staff seems great too. No complaints.

Terrible service. I called in an order to the willamette location, hung up, then realized I called the wrong location, called right back in 10 seconds max, and the guy cursed and hung up on me. There is no possible way they started the food yet. There is just no reason to treat your customers so poorly. I decided to spend my money at Fishermans Market on 6th street. The food is SO GOOD and so is the customer service.

The quality of their fish is beyond wonderful, not to mention all the other fabulous things they have. The only thing I wish this location would do is have grilled fish and their lunch specials along with fried. They do have grilled in another location however and I love this place. I've gone here for years. We went there one day and they were even having a benefit for some group and making paella outside in a huge skillet, with all their fresh fish. Killer!!!

I found this place while working at an Italian restaurant in Eugene. They would buy seafood from Newmans, and the staff was always incredibly helpful (and some staff even came by the restaurant to have dinner, more than once) What really sells me on this place is the cooked Al a carte menu and the walk up window. It's super easy to walk up and pay 2 bucks for a delicious piece of fried Salmon , cod, or halibut

I walked in and thought the 3 deep line of customers would take forever...less than 10 minutes later, my order had been taken, crabs cleaned, wrapped, rung up, and I was wakling out the door!!! Pretty good fish and chips, great clam chowder. We got the cod, the salmon, and the scallops. It's quite different from British fish and chips, but certainly not in a bad way. In particular, the "chips" are fries which is standard here in the states and the fish is breaded in breadcrumbs rather than the traditional flour batter. It definitely went well with the salmon (which you'll probably never find at a traditional fish shop) and the scallops and still wasn't very heavy. The salmon and clam chowder (packed with clam flavor and very light on the cream) were definitely our favorites. The Cole slaw is pretty good too, I opted for it instead of fries and don't regret it at all. Fries come out nice and crispy, so you can't go wrong either way.

My wife and I went to Newman for a meal, not an event. We got a meal, but it ended up being an event because the staff--bartender, waiter, etc--seemed so focused on making it a good experience. We were out quickly, which is what we wanted, and yet everyone at Newman seemed to want it to be a really nice "quickie". Oh, the food was delicious too. This is a place I can't wait to get back to!

I had the cod fish and chips here for lunch at 11 during a weekday. Despite the crowded lunchtime rush, my food was ready quickly, however it was hard to find comfortable seating and I ended up claiming a spot at the wall-side counter area. The fish was delicious and steaming hot and fresh, and even glistened when split open by hand, but the portion sizes were much smaller than I expected to receive for the price. I received four pieces (bought 1 extra), and each piece of cod is about the size of three McDonalds chicken nuggets. Unfortunately the lemonade also tastes as great as it costs: Cheap. The man in the window was accommodating and served with a smile. He was very efficient in processing my order. Overall don't expect a smorgasbord of food, but Newman's has great customer service and delicious fish fry.
