Went in for lunch today and the place was packed. There was only one super sweet girl working so I gladly waited. After she took my order she answered many questions of mine with a smile! I believe her name was Andrea; cooking the most amazing salmon burger i've ever eaten. I didn't stop there; to go I ordered a 12 ounce of handmade clam chowder, and one pound of the world FAMOUS wine maple salmon! Over all i had a very pleasant time and avery tasty meal. Number one stop on the way through Astoria!!!!

I love smoked salmon, so when we drove past we just had to stop in to see what it was all about. We sampled and then bought some of the smoked salmon. They have a variety of flavors that were all really good- wine maple, garlic pepper, a few others. We also sampled some of the smoked scallops. The person working here was very nice and chatty. It’s on the pricier side, but it seemed to be good quality. Definitely worth stopping in during a trip to Astoria.

Oh man, this place! For a fish town, it doesn't get much better than the salmon you'll find at Josephson's. The wine maple salmon bits are as addictive as any candy I've ever met, and the service is incredibly friendly. They'll let you sample most anything in the case, recommend what, say, smoked prawns pair best with -- and the back of the house serves up a mean cup of chowder. Definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of seafood.

Maple red wine salmon. It is the best smoked salmon of any variety you will ever taste. Only reason it does not get 5 stars is $42 a pound is unacceptable out here in the Northwest where most smoked salmon is $20 a pound or even less

One of the few restaurants in Astoria worth returning to. Even if you're not a big fan of smoked fish, this is worth a try. The smoked items are moist, flavorful, and not heavily smoky. Best dish is the salad with wine maple salmon, accompanied by firm fresh tomatoes & blueberries. You will not need salad dressing. Second best is lox on a bagel. Most restaurant lox is overly smoky; Josephson's is mild and tender, and not smoky at all. Easy off-street parking. Friendly service too.

I've had a LOT of smoked fish in my life and this, by far, is the best I've ever had. Their process makes the most moist, mouthwatering fish. You take a bite and it just melts. Most smoked fish is very salty. Not here. They let the fish shine alone. Give it a taste before you leave because you'll want to go back and get more.

Great smoked fish, both fresh, tinned, and jerky style. Shipping available which is nice, and there's always a wide variety of fish available. Mostly salmon, but halibut, sturgeon, tuna, oysters, scallops, and shrimp are usually available too. Definitely recommend stopping in.

They smoke salmon, halibut, oysters, tuna, sturgeon, black cod, trout, prawns, and mussels. There is no one anywhere up and down the Coast of Oregon that smokes fish like Jacobson's. Great smoked fish! Prices are very comparable with other smoke houses in the area. Staff is friendly and helpful with choosing product by letting you sample and asking questions about your taste preferences. Personally, the smoked tuna is killer, and the salmon jerky is highly addictive!

We visited Josephson's on a cruise ship port call in May 2015. If you're considering a souvenir can of Josephson's smoked salmon in the riverfront store beware of its origin. According to the label printed on the can, the salmon may be Chinook or Atlantic, but also read the paper label stuck on top. I didn't find out until after getting home that the salmon we bought is Atlantic, not Pacific Chinook, and certainly not caught locally. Even worse we bought two cans and the best-by-date on one was September 2013. Oh well, you live and learn.

First there were no salmon burgers or salmon patties. The clam chowder wasn't even warm, so we didn't even eat it - took it to go to heat it up later. The young girl working was not very friendly and never even asked how everything was. I wanted to just walk out and leave the chowder and not pay but I didn't.

No doubt the fish tastes good, but when asked if it was wild-caught locally, I was told that it is all from a fish farm in Washington. Very disappointing that it's neither wild nor are they supporting the local fishermen RIGHT IN THEIR OWN TOWN!!! I will buy elsewhere.
