They have so many awesome critters there! Something for everyone. I went there to get a doggie birthday cake and present for my Kylie who turned 13 on Cinco de Mayo. The lady that rang me up went above and beyond for me. She price matched and everything! We drive all the way from Hillsboro to both Wilsonville and Newburg to Critter Cabana to support this local business for years. Highly recommend them.

There was really no kittens or cats available for rental the place didn't smell very good they said that this was not the time of year where they get kittens the staff was not very friendly and helpful upstairs where they kept all the animals the lady downstairs was more helpful everyone else the following tears and things they were upstairs with the animals they were just kind of there they had nothing really to say to you I don't know if they could have done better

Ditch the big box pet store and come to one of the last earnest and passionate pet shops that you may ever see. The store features a well curated selection of birds, cats, dogs, lizards, snakes, amphibians, and fish. The mammals working there are well versed in the creatures they sell. Tucked neatly by a Red Robin restaurant, it's a great place to go right before or after getting your burger fix. Pro tip: Check out one of their large free wandering tortoises.

This place extremely disappointed me today.. and not by the selection of animals.. but how they're living.. the place smelled awful.. employees standing around.. lots of fleas on the kittens.. dogs rolling and sleeping in fresh and old poop.. and urine, flies swarming them everywhere.. I personally think this place needs investigated.. its NOT okay how these poor animals are living. I mentioned the fleas to an employee and she just said "oh really? Ok thanks" I might decide to continue further action in reporting this place.. I've seen shelters who have better conditions, this is abuse. A higher end pet store with animals in the thousands of dollars range should NOT be in this type of condition whatsoever ... disgusting, and I was there over an hour and not 1 employee started to clean anything.

The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love the reptile department! Neil is great with children and adults, he really takes his time to explain care, and just information about the different reptiles. My only complaint would be the fish. I am in about once a month, and it seems that they are constantly on quarantine, as well as the girl that works the fish department doesn't seem to know what she is doing. They had a great girl in there about a year ago, I can't remember her name but she was on top of it.

Groomers are amazing! Place is always packed. Oh and don't get any puppies unless you want to fork over 1,500 for most puppies and most are not vaccinated. Got a Shih Tzu puppy in northen California for $300, got to meet the family and the puppy's parents, also took 2 days vacation in California and came to Oregon and still saved $800

My note to the manager: Dear Scott, I am a long time customer - I have made the choice to drive an hour to and an hour home from your store to purchase 2 frogs, 1 boxer dog, and 2 chameleons not to mention set ups and accessories for all of my critters. Every experience but this one has made a lasting impression that I want to do business with you and only you. Why not this one? I was speaking with Nicole H., I guess she is from the Newburg store. I was asking her questions about a reptile. She had no idea the answer to any of my questions but was the only one on the floor - I later discovered all the other workers were too busy in the back room by the bathroom playing with puppies after being groomed. Anyway- I went ahead and purchased the animal trusting it was in good health as all my other animals have been from you before. As Nicole was ringing me up she announces to the customers at the counter that she has pink eye and that she was debating wether she should have come in to work or not today. At which time, the customer next to me freaks out and goes for the hand sanitizer. I think this knocked some sense into Nicole who tried to then cover it up saying it’s allergies. None of us bought it. As I was signing the receipt I grabbed a pen from the cup provided for the customers and Nicole was quick and abrupt saying “That’s my pen!” I looked up and told her that I was not going to steal it. She then replied “Some customers do and I really like that one”. Then to make matters more compounded she put my animal in a container that was clearly too small as she apologized as she was handing it to me. Ummm no! I love animals and this one was being compressed against the lid unable to even move! I refused and she found a bigger container and did a great job making it comfortable for my critter. While I was waiting for my critter to be repackaged (24min!) Another employee struck up a conversation with me. I told this employee I was not impressed with my visit in which they said I shouldn’t be. So it’s not my imagination or exaggeration. I asked to speak directly with you in which I was denied. I exited the store, and called to reach you in which I was then told you were not there today. Clearly you were. I saw you in the office upstairs through the window. What has happened to the critter cabana I have raved about for years! You do have one all star on the team. His name is Garrett! Great employee- personable, fast, efficient and cares about animals and customers. Not impressed with Nicole in general, or her red, saggy, watery, irritated eye. Pubic health alert! I went in a few weeks ago, I’ve never been here before so I called to make sure they had what I needed. Terrible customer service I had to look for someone to help me cause the girls just sit at the cash register. I needed roaches for my bearded dragon. The girl that did help me you could tell she was new she tried to help me but didn’t exactly know she told me that I would have to put in an order and it would be in in like two weeks and when she asked the girl next to her who was on her cell phone she ignored her got up and walked away. I live in Canby, I would rather drive to A-to-Z pets in Portland customer service is way better and they have exactly what I need.

Awful. It is crowded with people and children hovering around the puppies. Everyone is handling the puppies even when they are sleeping. Dog bowls are dirty, dog waste all over. Then the staff are they cherry on top. All young girls, very rude and ignore you. Another girl just walking around on her cell phone. Don't waste your time here.

My family and I love stopping by here. My son has a fresh water aquarium with live plants and usually buy our fish and plants here. My wife and daughter love when they have puppies! The staff is friendly and always eager to help. ONE thing that grinds our gears is how people disregard the "Do Not Touch" signs up on the puppy displays. Not sure if they know how to read but they do have them up for a reason. My 5 and 2 year old knows what "do not touch" means.

I hate to write this review as we have been coming here for years and purchased our dog from here years ago but I will not be back after today. We went to see their puppies and pick up some treats. We left empty handed and disgusted. Their puppies were covered in flies and their bedding was swarming with flies. Puppies were priced anywhere from $1500-$4000 and most were over 3 months old already. It was truly sad to see such a lack of care and I can only hope these dogs go to good homes and critter cabana stops selling animals or gets better trained staff.

The employees are great! The groomers are great and their nail trimming prices are very reasonable! I can't give them five stars because I'm so not okay with mass amounts of breeder puppies and other animals they have for sale every time I go in there. A good portion of their puppies are not even full vaccinated! I would honestly take my business elsewhere to get my dog's nails trimmed if there were another option available to me.

Showed up to purchase some supplies for a fish tank since we were in the area, and immediately walked away. There are plexi glass cases of puppies that are uncared for, feces smeared on the walls, and dirty litter shavings adhered to fur. No water bowls, no access to food. And this was all just visible from the outside storefront. As a veterinary professional I cannot in good conscience support a business that clearly not only promotes puppy mills, but also neglects the animals they sell. Stay far away from this place.

We've been going to the Newberg and Wilsonville locations for 9 years. The owners are wonderful and truly passionate about animals and their communities. We love the high quality cat food. And they always have great feeder rats for our snakes. I highly recommend this locally owned store! Also, puppies!

I have visited this store multiple times in the past year with little to no problems. However, today I experienced one of the rudest staff members I’ve met at this location. After nearly running over my service dog in training because she was glaring at my friend and I, she approached us and rudely told me I wasn’t allowed to hold the boa for unknown reasons. I had just asked the employees at the front desk and they said I could absolutely handle their snakes, except for their peid ball python and rat snakes due to cage aggression. She then stated she didn’t know I had asked, and I could hold the peid ball python, but that was the only one I could handle. That alone I could have understood, but next to us were a group of loud teenagers that were manhandling their dwarf hamsters and antagonizing their chinchilla/ferrets to the point where they were barking and biting to get them to stop, only to be laughed at and have it done again. I was a customer there for almost a year, but I will not be returning for any of my snake, gecko, chinchilla, rat, cat, or dog care, let alone any animals they sell. If you’re looking for good, healthy reptiles, check out Reptopia in Albany; way better conditions for their animals and a staff that actually knows what they’re talking about and isn’t rude to their customers.

I enjoy the store because it has lots of animals and you are allowed to touch basically all of them. However, I am not a huge fan of how their dogs are enclosed in big glass boxes. It just dosn't seem like enough space for those puppies.

This pet store is extremely unprofessional. The owners have let it run to the ground and no longer care about their store or obviously who runs it. The 'manager' of the fish and reptile department for both stores has Not one clue on what he is doing in both areas. He doesn't know proper husbandry for the reptiles in need of higher humidity or even how to sex them properly before selling. He can't keep his own fish alive if his life depended on it nor can he keep any fish healthy that come from critter cabana. The employees have inappropriate relationships inside the workplace, as well as constant theft from the employees. The animals are under cared for by under qualified teenagers and young adults who some, don't even have a GED. I would NEVER support or buy from this store again.

This place has a excellent selection of live animals and animal products they also have aquariums and terrariums for a good price. The staff are very knowledgeable about the animals and can pretty much answer any of the questions you have about the animals such as husbandry and care . You can pretty much touch, hold or pet any animals here. They have reptiles, fish, cat, and dogs.

This place is abysmal. There was virtually no staff supervision. Children touched any animals they pleased, and felt free to ignore any do not touch signs. This is bad for the animals!! There were 2 African tortoises just sitting in the corner on the concrete floor. Everything was dirty. It is clear these people don't care about the well being of their animals or they would at least offer better supervision and try and limit the amount these animals are being handled. Don't support pet stores that run their shop like a poorly supervised petting zoo!

Great experience here. I regularly visit for both purchasing and entertainment with my girls. The breadth of animals in stock is vast and wonderful. Catering to the traditional pet owner with puppies and also exotics with an extensive reptile/insect/arachnid selection. All displays are clean and the care given, excellent. Stock seems to replenish on Sundays and is by no means remains.static. Breeds and species are always new and curiosity gets the better of me by Sunday afternoon. Pricing varies, so some due diligence is recommended before committing. If, like me, you have children. Entering the store is committing.

Great service every time I go in, love seeing the new puppies, but I go there to get my fish and there supplies as well as the food for my bearded dragon. I purchased a Pomeranian from them and she is doing great, she will be 9 years old this November, I also purchased my beardie from here and there reptile quality is superb. Highly recommend these folks.

EXTREMELY dirty. Dirt and dust balls all over the floor with some used syringes mixed in. The whole place smells like urine and the fish tanks had an unsettling amount of rotting dead fish in them.. very poor selection of feeder rodents/outrageous prices. Everything is pretty badly neglected, it's really sad.. the customer service is terrible on top of all of that! We won't be going back to any of the Critter Cabanas.

We purchased our Standard Poodle here, and were weary bc it's a pet store. Don't be! They spent over an hour going through the isles for necessary items - food, leash, bed, crate, toys, treats etc. Didn't try to over sell either. Dog came chipped and first med appt was free at local vet. Great vet too - we still see them. The dog is fabulous, healthy and well adjusted.

I have to say, this critter cabana is cleaner and tidier than newberg’s. I didn’t get a super good looo around but the fish tanks were better and cleaner by the looks of it. Dogs crates should still be cleaned more and smelled bad. And as for the betas that in no way is humane, they need to be put into big tanks or not be sold at all. At least newberg has cut the small unhealthy containers out of their store and put them into bigger ones.

Took our dog here for a grooming appt. with Becky today, we typically go to Pet Smart. She was one of the most unkind people I have ever had dealing with my dog. She is unpatient, not gentle, very judgemental, started yelling at our dog when he wasn't staying still why she clipped his nails. We will never come back and I highly recommend people not booking a grooming appt. here.

Great store for reptiles, cats, dogs, rodents, and ferrets. The aquarium section is a reasonably stocked, but kind of pricy. They could do with some better care - lots of algae, fin-rot, and dead livestock in their tanks. Staff is friendly and service is generally good. My son loves the giant tortoises that wander around the store.

Disappointed at best. It's been a couple of years since we were last here. Dirty floor was the main focal point. Not new dirt, but obvious build up over days. Three employees standing at front counter just gabbing. Finally got the attention of one, needed direction to bird seed. She was semi helpful, but store didn't have brand we were looking for. Went to next aisle and darn near tripped in plastic banding that was in walkway. Said I had seen enough and we left. Felt sorry for the over priced puppies going out the door.

Would rank higher if the state of the fish tanks wasn't so absolutely horrible. Dead fish, half living fish and frogs in the tanks with some sort of fungus or mold growing on them... disgusting. The Newberg location is a must visit, immaculate. Owners need to find someone who is willing to take care of these animals. Makes me wonder what else is being neglected. Won't purchase a fish from this location.

I'm sorry but locking jaws down on customers &trying to drag them into the pins isn't a chewing hazard. The dogs here aren't at fault, the humans[including outside of this shop] involved are. Best place ever. The manager Hadley helped us the first time we came in. She is so friendly and knowledgeable. We came in to ask questions about our Beardie and left with a puppy. We came back a couple weeks later and got another puppy. The animals are so well cared for. They are healthy and wery well socialized. We live 45 minutes to an hour away depending on traffic and happily make the drive to visit. The crickets are so much healthier than the competitor's crickets. They make our mean Beardie very happy! This is by far our favorite pet store!

The poor puppies are always thirsty with no water. Some of them are dangerous, latching down and pulling on people almost into their pins. The last puppy I looked at and held had an obvious fever[a lot warmer than dogs normally feel] and had no water at all, bone dry bowl. Yet I could get no staff to even check it just cold responses that dogs run warm. Yes they do but when they're that hot and they're panting with a dry tongue they need water at least and this poor dog's bowl was dry with film on it. Why even sell dogs if you clearly don't care for them.

This is my first stop if I get an urge to take home a puppy. It's so nice to be able to hold them; it always improves my day. Maybe one day I'll take one home.

Absolutely hands down the Best Pet Shop I have ever seen in my 56 years on earth. Shop here instead those horrid big box mass market Pet Mega Stores. UGH This brings me back to old time Main St., USA. Its dying, except for independent and well run retailers like Critter Cabana. Aside from that, the staff is knowledgeable, supportive and professional. They know what they are doing. Well stocked with supplies for just about every pet. You cannot go wrong here. we started using the grooming facility here and they do a great job! a few dollars more than the "big name" stores but its easy to book (online available) and the cuts were terrific! my dogs (LhasaPoo) both look great!

Called and asked a question about the health of my leopard geckos and they said they "werent sure but everything is probably fine" called petsmart and they told me my leopard geckos had a mite outbreak from the mealworms I bought. The staff here have no clue what they're doing

The staff is knowledgeable and all very helpful! I love visiting this store any time I'm in Wilsonville, even if I don't need to pick anything up. It's definitely worth the stop just to see all the puppies!

Definitely get your dog groomed here. I have had nothing but the best grooming from Becky for my two puppies. make sure you plan in advance by at least two months they fill up quickly.

Needs more bunny stuff that isnt like yogurt drops and tiny cages but otherwise solid choices for cats, reptiles and dogs.

I will not be returning to the critter cabana, the girls working there were very rude to me and my family. You were not allowed to touch any animals. How do you know if the animal will like you or is friendly, terrible way of doing business. Take your business elsewhere!

It was cute, but the animals are ridiculously expensive. The staff was friendly and helpful. The whole idea of it is kind of sad though.

Five stars for the open nature of the store, fun place to take the kids as they can hold and pet many of the animals. I don't know who can actually afford the prices for many of the dogs and cats, but the exotic ones, and some of the small animals are affordable.

This was such a fun time! My boyfriend and I were able to hold a bunch of adorable puppies! We’re both huge reptile lovers so being able to hold the a snake and pet the bearded dragons was so much fun! One of the employees was talking to us about the snakes and it was such a great opportunity to learn a few things about animals we love! I was so glad we were able to come here and hold animals we don’t always get to.

Went today and needed another tank. Got a unique 6 long gal. Got some Fluorite gravel and piece of drift wood. Petrified wood from another place called “Oregon decorative rocks” on Denny. All and all, I am satisfied and will be returning for some plants.
