The people are nice and let you ask them questions. All the fish are in good condition. The prices may be higher than PetSmart or Petco but they fish are better quality, healthier, and receive better care. Very wide selection of fish too. I never leave without anything there!

The owner as well as all the employees are extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. I am a newbie in the fish world and started at the big stores attempting to put a aquarium together without success. To the big store employees that I spoke with, you could tell they were there only there for the pay check and didn't seem to know much about the animals/fish they cared for. This was not the case at Aquatopia! This is what they do for a living and they are good at it! Cost? I personally did not notice it being higher ... Maybe it was? I really don't care, if there was a difference It was more than worth it for the service my wife and I received. Thanks Aquatopia.

Overpriced and lousy return policy (the owner complains, denies returns, or both). Just buy products online or Petco; let this loser go out of business. Edit: Owner replied calling me a liar while pointing out I was as nice as a person could be. He blamed a faulty product which failed during use on user error while affirming refusal to honor warranty. He affirmed he has the highest prices in town and insulted the customer. The owner lastly stated he feels customers are to blame for elimination of middle class. Perhaps he should research what a market economy is and attain an education in business, maybe attend a customer service seminar.

Purchased an axolotl that was sick from impaction - returned to the store to realize they had them on gravel. They also gave out the incorrect advice that adult axolotls can live solely on bloodworms. Not very good husbandry. The adult axolotl they had was EXTREMELY overpriced (over 100$!) and other fish we have bought from the store immediately died of a fungus. Employees are generally nice and helpful but I will be finding stock elsewhere.

I was very impressed by the breadth of knowledge that the 2 employees I talked to possessed. They are friendly, have a great variety of fish and I get the feeling all of their fish are well taken care of. Not sure if the need a bigger place, more employees or need to do a little spring cleaning because every space is occupied with something. Way beyond expectations. You will pay a bit more here, but it's money well spent on care, deep knowledge and exceptional service. I bought a small amount of non-bling fish and the employees took a lot of time showing my gaggle of children all the fish in the store and answering any questions I had. We walked out with the fish and loaner books for the kids to read. I'll be back for sure.

When I got my new tank, I came to petsmart, and then aquatopia to see the difference in the 2. And aquatopia is way better! Petsmart will sell you a fish without asking anything of it, they are only there because they need a job. In aquatopia, they work there because they love fish! They care about your tank and want it to be successful. The fish they sell arent all sick and caged, they are treated and well maintained. I give them 5 stars. Keep it up!

Everyone is incredibly friendly and they know what they're doing. They never push anything on you when you're looking for something and they always offer cheaper alternatives if you're strapped for cash and can't afford something! Prices are always reasonable and fair especially for their fish. If I could give them a 10/10 I would but we'll just have to settle for 5 Stars.

This is your go to spot for your aquarium needs. Locally owned with great staff; Tiffany and Brad have always been very cordial and knowledgeable when it comes to my fresh water aquarium needs. Also, if they don't have what I want they will often place what I want on their next order. Impressive wide variety of fish. Lots of supplies on hand and affordable used aquariums. I am a begginer tank owner and was completely overwhelmed trying to set up and start a 55 gallon. She walked me through start to finish even though there were other patrons in the shop. Stopped in for a visit and to pass time by with my daughter was told they had a great selection of fish (which was not the truth, but could be for that area).The lady I had to deal with was invasive and rude. Their knowledge comes right from google. They are not experts. Any one can have a fish tank and be successful with it. She denied me on a few fish i wanted. I had to ask, "What kind of fish WILL you sell me". I wont be going back. My family that goes in there to get fish tell the people lies, so they will sell them the fish they want. My tank is a good size, awesome and my fish are extremely healthy. As well as my brothers tank who has a much bigger tank than mine.

I always have a great experience at aquatopia! I've been going to this shop for my fish, axelotls and supplies for years. I've never had a problem. They will even give me a discount if I bring in aquariums or supplies I no longer need. It is a small shop, so they don't always have exactly what I want but they will have an alternative. I'd much rather support this shop than a petco or petsmart. Buying local is always best.

The first time I entered Aquatopia, I was blown away by the beautiful displays they have and the variety of aquatic life for sale there. I’m currently putting an aquarium in my workplace and the staff helped me get all the necessities and explain how to set up the tank. I went by this shop while on vacation in Bend (from Salem) and was pleasantly surprised. They are in the process of expanding their saltwater selection so the coral selection was small but absolutely beautiful. I purchased several pieces and the owner packaged them nicely for travel. All pieces made it home safely and have responded immediately to my tank. Thank you so much for the knowledge you shared and the beautiful additions. I'm excited to come back next time!!

I am a beginner when it comes to fish keeping and they really helped me to keep my fish happy and healthy. When I first entered the store, I was so excited to see all the beautiful tanks and fish I must've spent an hour just looking around in awe. I originally came there to buy a small fish and bowl but once educated I ended up getting an entire tank set and 4 fish and even gave me one fish free plus 5 dollars off the gravel. Now I come back about every other month to see their new inventory of fish and end up getting at least 3 small fish each time. They may be a little more pricey than chain stores but there stock is quality and definently worth it. HIGHLY SUGGESTED

I love Aquatopia. I live in Redmond but I make a trip to Bend almost every week to browse all the new fish and plants. It might be slightly more expensive on some products compared to Petco or Petsmart, but chain pet stores are known for sick fish, bad advice, and all they want is to make a sale. They have an amazing plant selection too, and they always share their own experiences with different plants and what they need to grow properly. As for livestock, I've never bought a sick fish from here. They're all healthy and well cared for, I've never had a death shortly after buying from Aquatopia. I went to petco one time and bought some cherry shrimp and they all died. The guy who netted them out of the tanks manhandled the hell out of them too. If you want quality advice and products, go to Aquatopia! They're wonderful :)

Loved it! My tank crack cracked while moving from Prineville so I was in a rush to get a new one. It was 8pm and they were still open, which was wonderful!
