They don't see anything wrong with selling dead, light crabs that should have been thrown back. Shells so thin I could crunch it in my hand and empty inside. If they had at the least been apologetic it would have been one thing but they truly believe what they did was fine. Light shells mean the others can puncture the shells with their claws and then when they steam they fill with salty water, leaving the meat useless. Obviously were dead when put in the pot or the shells would not have been busted up. Funny how the light ones were on the very bottom. They knew they gave me inferior crabs so now I can't trust them to give me my money's worth. Should I have to empty the bag and check them all before I leave the store in case they did it again? Can't find another store in EC that sells crabs so they have no competition and feel no need to give quality I guess. Shame!

The food was good and the portions of seafood was good, nothing exceptional, but they skimp on the fries and coleslaw. We had shrimp, scallops, oysters and the crab legs. I gave 2 stars because the women working the counter need an attitude adjustment. They are not friendly at all and even to the point of rude. While I was waiting for my order to go, one asked to another, "what is she doing?", really rude, referring to me. I was just standing at the end if the counter, out of everyone's way, waiting for my order. Not worth the 55 miles we drove to try this place when there are so many seafood places to go to that are much better and actually like the customers.

If your looking for food already to be eaten and fried up then this is your place but if your looking for fresh fish, Oyster,clams,blue crabs they have it too. Not always the best deals on crabs and never have Jimmy's they try to sell #2 for #1 or Jimmy's. Not" but this year should be a low price on Blue Crabs. If you pay $50. On bushel then it may be to high. This year.

Shopped in the seafood market with terrific selection of fish and shellfish. Everything I could want and more at outstanding prices. Even iced it for my cooler in the car for the one hour drive home. Nice crabmeat, salmon, several kinds of what I assume were local fish, clams, crabs - everything. Definitely a place to shop on the way out of town - bring your cooler.

Great seafood. It has Bar area, oyster bar area and seafood market. You line up to order your food then pick a table in dinning area. You get your own silverware, napkins and condiments including crackers. Tables have hot sauce etc. They bring your bar drinks and food to your table. You serve yourself for fountain drinks. We go here with our daughter and her family when we are in Austin. The Blacken Rainbow Trout is really good.

We were lucky to get one of the few tables with full service, and our server was great. We will definitely drive the hour and a half to come back.

Good food. Hot & my order is always correct. Quality also has a fish market which can be expensive however, high quality fresh fish & seafood. The restaurant has a private meeting room, tables & booths. Clean rest rooms, outstanding pasta salad, fresh tuna salad, coleslaw, & green salad. Gumbo, crab, an oyster bar & a medium drink bar that serves beer& cocktails. Live bands on Wednesday night. Mai mai, cod, cat fish, crab, crawfish & other fish seafood dinners. Hush puppies, fried okra, Mac & cheese & more. Sweetened & unsweetened teas. They have desserts but I've never tried them. Always too full after my meal. Good place for family, groups, meetings & they have take out. Take debit, & charge cards.

Went to lunch with my husband who ordered steelhead trout, green beans and seasoned rice. I decided on crab cakes, the homemade potato salad and green beans. Our order came and both plates had the trout. Because of the mistake our waitress then ordered a crab cake for me and I also kept the trout. The crown jewel of our meal was the blueberry bread pudding. OMG it was sooo good. This was my first time here and the food was excellent and the customer service was beyond, beyond. Thank you Lorraine for such an enjoyable experience and your recommendations were spot on.

The food was good. We had wild caught grilled drum and blackened drum with steamed broccoli, a side salad, corn on the cob, seafood gumbo and half a pound of peel and eat shrimp. ($56) Portion sizes could have been better for the prices, but I guess because it's seafood? I was happy for a moment when I saw the "Go Local" decal on the front door entrance window when we walked in, but when I was going to pay and proudly presented my "Go Local" card to receive a small discount (anything is better than nothing), I was told, "That's only for RAW fish." That was a big disappointment! Oh well, now we know for next time that the inviting, friendly "Go Local" decal on the entrance door is not what it seems. 01-24-18

Tried this place for the first time today 10-21-19 I read all the rave reviews about it so thought surely it would live up to the hype. So I ordered the go fish plate with catfish and shrimp. With Mac and cheese and pinto beans for my sides. The Mac and cheese was odd being spaghetti noodles but it was actually pretty dang good. The beans were pretty good as well. Shrimp was also mediocre.The catfish however had a weird texture to it and was bland With no flavor and greasy. Didn’t have that fried fish crunch to it. So was pretty yuckkk! And their prices are high for the amount and quality of food which I was not impressed with. My normal go to is captain Benny’s for fried seafood and it’s always delicious and prices are fair and amounts of food for your dollars is beyond reasonable. So all in all I will not be returning here by any means.I’d rate it just a hair above long John silvers or captain ds maybe. Definitely disappointed in wasting 24 bucks on shoddy tasteless food. Please choose wisely folks!!

Best people, best seafood, best cooking, best grilling. I honestly can't say enough about this amazing and totally Austin experience. There's something about a place in a town like this, where when you walk in the door and you can sense that the best and brightest of Austin is there, the most experienced customer-base who come here regularly. Loyalty like that doesn't come fast. Just go see for yourself. Try to sit at the bar and soak in some of that old school Austin personability. Eat something from the grill. The trout! The oysters! I'm trying but words don't do it justice. NOW, don't go looking for hoity toity fussy food. Go for real fresh seafood. And keep in mind all the money you pay at area restaurants?? yeah their seafood comes from here. Let those cooks and (KATHY) bar staff help you feel right at home. Go enjoy the feel of what Austin was before (and still is). just GO!

Worst experience in a long time. First of all, the blue point oysters were unavailable because of weather conditions where they are shipped from . That was interesting considering I just had oysters a few days ago that were awesome. Then the server talks us into a dozen east coast oysters that were the size of a nickel and proceeds to charge us $28 !! Are you kidding me? I've never been so financially abused. The place is a joke.

Came here on the 80th birthday party on accident and was overwhelmed by the number of people. The establishment is a seat yourself situation so getting a table was next to impossible. I went with a group so we ordered a bunch of different things and tried them all. Everything here was high quality and delicious, but the two things that are bringing me back are the bacon wrapped scallops and the New England clam chowder. I didn't want to share they were so good. Definitely coming back, definitely getting those.

Last visit was about 20 years ago when seafood wasn't available at regular grocery stores. Many changes in that time. Now there is a large restaurant attached. If you sit at the bar or the row of tall tables next to the bar you get full service at your table from the awesome female bartenders. If you sit at a normal height chair or booth you order at a counter. Not sure if they bring food to you or they call a number. Either way there are many choices on the menu and they all sound great. At our table we had a clam platter, a fried shrimp platter, a fish taco, a salad with a giant chunk of salmon and baked oysters. There were no complaints only lots of yums and oohs and ahhs. I look forward to another trip to try more items.

Fantastic fresh seafood at the lowest prices I have ever found in a restaurant..! Awesome crab cakes, trout, flounder, softshell crabs and steamed shrimp. All meals come with french fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. They also have an attached fresh seafood counter where you buy oysters, clams, shrimp and all kinds of local caught fish. I love the cooked food! It's good, fresh and hot and the prices are reasonable. The prices of their steamed crabs are high compared to other places and they charge you more than 1/2 the price for a half dozen of steamed crabs. It seems they may be the only game in town for those but I get my steamed crabs in VA where you're only paying 1/2 the cost for a 1/2 dozen.

The food was ok at best(nothing special) the place itself looks like a grotesque warehouse . The staff was nothing extraordinary however I must point out the one rude person on the staff who must be avoided if you listen to others and decide to try this place. Carol was an absolute ill bred surprise, I don’t think I’ve dealt with a more Boorish person. Avoid!

I’m not sure what is so special about this place - we had dinner here tonight, I got the blackened ruby red fish and my husband got the cod Po boy and both were MEH, nothing special. Not the bread, not the sauce... nothing. They charged extra for the rice which was regular rice. Portions weren’t that big for how much they charged. I would recommend going to La Vaca if you want more flavor to be honest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well to start off, let it be known that if you order a shrimp cocktail you will receive bait shrimp, not the large shrimp that the cashier tells you. I was so disappointed that I went back to the cashier to show her the size that the cocktail came with. The size of the fried shrimp wasn't anything to brag about. Going somewhere else next time.

Probably my absolute favorite place for seafood and cajun cuisine in all of Austin. This is also somewhat of an Austin icon too, because of their long history in Austin and quality. The name says it all - quality service, quality seafood! Great place to meet for drinks or dinner and the happy hour specials are waycool. Watch for $1 oysters and Sunday lobster specials too. Yikes ordered the Rainbow trout with crab and a crab cake. I spent 50 min got the crab cake warm and gummy 10 dollars. The Rainbow trout was tasty the brown crab on top ruined the fish so I scraped the crab off and ate the fish. I sent the crab cake back never to be seen again. I eventually packed up my Mac and cheese and broccoli in water and left really hungry. The crab cake was refunded. I have always thought Quality was good before the remodel, now I am just always disappointed. I hope they really work on their food and make it Quality.

Went yesterday for dinner after a long break. It was a very informal date night, so we got the specials- mine was the halibut with salad and side. "Spicy" calamari was shared. The calamari was overcooked and there was nothing spicy about it- the dipping sauce that came with it was like hoisin sauce. The halibut was good, though, and the okra was freshly fried and not sitting under a heat lamp all day so that was nice. The price seemed out of sync with the overall quality, and I was glad I ordered at the counter instead of getting a full service table...I'd've had a hard time paying 20% tip on the experience. Also, the bathroom napkin dispenser thing's battery was dead, and I hate using blow-dryers.

My comments are about the fresh fish market. I shop there on Saturdays after ranching all day. The choice of fresh fish is always good. Lee is the market manager and he and all the staff have cooking and preparation knowledge for whatever you pick. Fish is flown in every day during the week. I checked out the prep area. Stainless steel everywhere and clean, clean, clean! Ask for advice!! Great folks!!

I grew up in Elizabeth City bit live in Virginia now. Whenever I come to visit in E.C. I make it a point to eat at Quality Seafood. The food is amazing. Portions are very generous. The ambiance is old school cafeteria style but they do have a drive up window where so that you can call in an order and pick there. Prices are so reasonable for the amount of delicious food that you get.

As usual, Quality Seafood, never disappoints. My favorite is the seafood platter. It's a bountiful mix of fresh scallops, shrimp, oysters and whiting filet with side order of crispy french fries, scrumptious hush puppies and "stand alone" Cole slaw. I could literally eat the Cole slaw as a meal because it just that good. I highly recommend Quality seafood to anyone wanting fresh seafood from a friendly staff!

This place is exceptional! From the view of the Bay Bridge to the super fresh seafood, this is the ultimate place for dinner. They have a line to get a table, and you just wait by the pier until your table is ready. I didn't mind since the view was spectacular. I chose to sit on the patio because why would you want to sit inside here?

Nov. 10, the catfish was excellent, tasty as always. Service, superb. Cold beer, nice people, good food. What else is matters? The men's room and dining areas very well kept. The clam chowder is good. A definite must if you've never been. Keep up the good work, Guys!!

i have lived in Austin for 10 years now and i am upset I never came here before because I was missing out. I love this place. I met the bartender, Kathy, and she was awesome. Service was great and for the price, the food was pretty darn good and really hit the spot. Also great prices on HH drinks like the $3 house wine. You need to check this place out

I have no problem driving a short 25 miles to get seafood that I truly enjoy. Their catfish is equal to Taylor's Market. Taylor's is in the Grove near Ole Miss. Another"destination". You gotta check em out!!!

Oh man. This is a really awesome place to get seafood, but expect it to be packed at lunch and dinner. The parking is a little chaotic and there isn't much of it, but it is worth the hassle. If you can go at off times, it's no problem. Their coleslaw is (in my opinion) the best in town - we order it from there if we need enough to feed a crowd. In addition to the plates they cook, you can also get fresh raw fish from the market side to take home with you.

Don't let the good reviews fool you. This place may have been good before but it's bad now. Crab cakes were very burnt and had a terrible taste and texture on the inside. Side of popcorn shrimp was like they bought the cheapest salad shrimp and fried it. They didn't even taste or look like shrimp and had a bad musty taste. Not coming back.

Definitely my favorite seafood restaurant in Elizabeth City! Delicious food and great, friendly service. Flounder platter with shrimp, oysters, scallops, fries, Cole slaw, and hushpuppies, plus a side order of crab cakes is my meal, and the prices are great! The crabcakes are full of crab meat instead of other stuff, everything seasoned perfectly, and I love, love, love the Cole slaw! Too bad I deleted the pics from my phone. I guess you have go see for yourself.

This place is an Austin tradition. Its been here for 80 years. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming. Not pretentious. The oyters are fresh and delicious. Especially the pepper patch ones. There is a great seafood market, cold beer, awesome service and a good menu. I have had some food that was served overcooked but not the grilled oysters and the fish tacos were sublime.

Clam chowder was good but then again, not as hot as I like it. So for $20.00(I also got a drink) I'm not sure if was worth it.

Totally Austin flavored seafood house with lots of fish decor and casual atmosphere. A foursome was playing a little giddy-up country style music set that was delightful. Service was casual . The fish we ordered was exceptional catfish, gumbo and cod. Not thrilled with the small,watery raw oysters but it is a little early in the season.

Great experience overall. The fried catfish is a little pricey but the texture was great. It could also use a little bit more seasoning to spice it up. I really liked the hush puppies with the tartar sauce. Next time I will probably get something not fried to change it up.

I always remember how great the food is here but always seem to forget how awful the service is when you sit at the bar. The service is painfully slow. You have to ask for everything. May I order? May I have silverware? May I have tartar sauce? May I have my check? The two waiters at the bar are constantly disappearing. When they return they only chat it up with the regulars instead of checking on ALL of their customers as they should. I recommend that if you stop by for the good food that you sit at a table and avoid the aggravation.

I was in town for business, however as I approached the restaurant I held the door open for a nice lady as she was exiting. As I looked up... I spotted a 30.06 sign, and I was unwelcome for being a Texas License To Carry holder, and armed. I turned around and left. Bummer

Best charbroiled oysters I've ever had. You can sit at the bar, order from a counter, or get table service. They also have (as the name suggests) a market area to pick up something to make at home. On the restaurant side, you can order just about every seafood concept imaginable. The only thing I miss there is crab.
