Excellent place. I've watched a lot of people walk in just to walk out. It's a very busy place. However, they have folks taking your order and then you pay, you are given a number that will be called when your order is ready. Many times the people standing up by the counter are waiting for food. It is important to know if you are in line or behind someone waiting for food. The ordertakers usually catch it, but not always. No matter how bad it looks they crank the food out pretty fast and the wait is no longer than most places. I've never been disappointed.

It's been awhile since I've visited here. The menu has expanded since I was here. I would describe the menu as calabash, with a fantastic variety of seafood, with your choice of fried or broiled. I only wanted fish & hushpuppies, so I had 2 croakers & 2 trout. They were fried perfectly and it was fresh! I paid the price of a large dinner ($13.49); except I didn't want the sides. It was well worth it! I look forward to visiting here again! (The second plate belonged to my guest. They had 4 catfish & the 2 sides with hushpuppies for $11.49. They weren't able to eat it all!)........ This is not a fancy place, by any means, but the food is so good, you will overlook the space.

I had family visiting so we definitely had to stop here for some fried seafood. We got the 3-way platter and shared it. It consisted of fried scallops, shrimp and crab cakes. Everything was yummy. The crab cakes had a nice crisp on the outside and a very tastey filling. The amount of food that you get is very generous.

Food is good, Southern Comfort. Excellent value. If you order broiled rather than fried plan on waiting an extra 15 minutes. Self service, friendly staff. Clean your own table. Very local country style crowd. Believe we looked like we just stepped off a flying saucer. Atmosphere is country funky, it is located at State Farmers Market. Somewhere between barn and market stalls. Nice place off the beaten path.

If you like traditional “fish camps,” this place is for you. This is a large, spread out, casual seafood restaurant with all the favorites, like, homemade hush puppies, generous portions of French fries, delicious tartar sauce and beautiful pies, just to name a few. Plus, a choice of fried or broiled entrees. We got flounder and clam strips and were surprised by the large servings. Come hungry!

look at the size of the Shrimp!!! This is a size of 41 but we ordered JUMPO shrimp. It must be joking. This place is a rib off!!!!!!! We have ate here couple of times, shrimp oyster and scallops are all about the size of a 5cents coin. Small amount of shrimp for the high price! Disappointed

The first time I went a couple of months ago, everything was seasoned too perfection! I visited 3 days ago and there was no flavor to the shrimp or flounder. Right now I'm 50/50 so I don't know if I'd go again. The hushpuppies are great!! That was the only consistent taste.

Maybe I went on an off day, but the food was pretty bad. I ordered the fried shrimp plate. I will say the portions were definitely large, which is excellent, but the food quality was just... not good. The shrimp had next to no seasoning and really weren't very flavorful, more over quite a few of them had bits of shell fried in with the batter. The french fries had a complete lack of salt, and tasted starchy enough that they probably could have been fried for longer. The Coleslaw was just bad. The one thing I can say was absolutely excellent was the hush puppies. The restaurant was very full and was rapidly taking orders, so I'm hoping I just went on a bad day, but the entire experience was pretty disappointing given the consistently good reviews this place has. I probably won't eat here again.

This was our first time visiting, and we'll definitely be back! My husband and I ordered a large 4 item combo to share and it was plenty of food for the two of us and our toddler! We had the clams, shrimp, scallops and crab cakes. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! I especially loved the crab cakes. Excellent flavor with a fantastic crunchy coating! The place is bright and clean!

Awesome place. It’s a very busy place, but they are one off the best seafood places in Raleigh. They have outdoor and indoor seating areas. The waiting time is between 5 to 10 min. After you do your order they give you a number and they will call your N when it’s ready. This was my first time ordering soup, it was excellent I will order it every time we go there. This restaurant is located in the NC Farmers market off the beltline in Raleigh. It's been located there forever and continues to satisfy. The condiments, ie., the tarter sauce and seafood cocktail sauce are among the best I've had. You order your food at the counter and pick it up upon the completion of cooking. The atmosphere is loud and you might have to share a table with others at a busy time, but this should not deter you from visiting this landmark restaurant in Raleigh, NC.

FOOD: You will not find fresher seafood in the Triangle area. Period. I had their 2-combo meat plate (fried jumbo shrimp & fried flounder) and it was the best fish I have ever had, even compared to restaurants on the coast. It's so good because their fish is never frozen but fresh from their boat suppliers. You can taste the freshness. The hushpuppies were almost as good. Their French fries were outstanding. The cole slaw was good. Sweet tea was fresh. SERVICE: You order similar to a fast food restaurant but they cook your food fresh as you wait. Takes about 8 minutes depending on how busy they are. Served on a foam plate w/lid which came in handy because I couldn't eat all of their portions so I took leftovers home. ATMOSPHERE: This is in a farmers market setting so don't go expecting a Red Lobster setting. The dining room is clean. Seating is limited so claim a table or bench with table when one becomes available as you wait for your food. OVERALL: If you want good (perhaps the best seafood in Raleigh) this place is for you. PRICE: Moderate, but worth every penny. My meal was $16.95 (2-meat combo, slaw, fries, hush puppies, tea). Less than the fancy fish houses and much better food. DATE VISITED: August 18, 2019

We come here every year, and if you are evaluating the seafood it's pretty good. If you're looking for a pleasant sit down environment, this is not your place. Owing to our business schedule while we are in Raleigh, we can never be here when the adjoining farmers market is open, but if you can it would be a pleasant afternoon walking around and ending at the seafood market to top off the day. They have most every kind of fried fish and seafood as well as some broiled items as well for between $10 and $15, and the portions are really generous - steak fries (Home fries) and coleslaw served with each selection. The clam chowder is OK, but the pies are a real bargain at $2.29.

There is nothing glamorous or fancy about NC Seafood, but the portions are excellent and the food is outstanding. This is my go-to place for calabash-style seafood. The sweet tea is pretty sweet, but it won't hurt your teeth. Be sure to check their website for coupons before you go. The shrimp lunch is my main meal. It's a great value and everyone I've ever taken here has enjoyed it thoroughly.

This was my first time. It was excellent. I got the shrimp and scallops. I really loved it. It has a light coating on the food. This was a lot better than other places where there's too much batter. It was 15.99 for the large size which had so much food I will be able to have another meal with the leftovers. My boyfriend got the shrimp regular size for 11.99. He also has plenty for another meal. Everyone talks about this restaurant. I shouldn't have waited so long to go. It's definitely one of my favorite places to eat. And definitely my favorite seafood place.

We were looking for fresh fried fish and this place fit the bill. My husband and I split the 3 way combo large and we couldn't finish it. We order the fried flounder, jumbo shrimp and popcorn shirmp. I think the popcorn shrimp may have been an actual pound, it was insane. My husband loves to eat shrimp and he couldn't finish all the popcorn shrimp (that's a first). The floinder was delicate and battered perfectly, not too much just perfect. The jumbo shrimp were great, and I think we received 12 of them. The meal came with hush puppies, coleslaw and wedge fries as well. My son got the new England clam chowder and said it was as good as Red Lobster, his highest compliment. Looking forward to returning! We spent $21 for the 3 combo and the small soup.

Fathers day weekend , I wanted to go to cheese cake factory, and they brang me here. It was cram packed full of people , the line started at the door. I was disappointed. The line moved pretty fast. Got our drinks found a place to sit. About 4 mins they called our number. I was very surprised. Everythi,g was excellent. Large portion of broiled flounder was , awesome. Coleslaw was great , and coleslaw only comes in two categories , cat 1 exelent........ Cat 2 ain't fit for human consumption. There is no in between. Enjoyed the experience. Left impressed. I will be back here for sure. Don't know why I was going to settle for going to the factory. :-)

I love this restaurant but I've been highly disappointed the last 2 times. The fries were hard and had no seasoning and when I got the large combo with popcorn shrimp and crab cakes they shorted me a crab cake. I actually came from Greensboro just to come here. There was another time my boyfriend got the flounder and it wasn't cooked all the way. I'm not sure what happened but I'm a little conflicted. I've been wanting to try again being that I've been in town but just don't know what I'm going to get. I never get the slaw and always get double fries. I truly love this place and wish there was one like it in Greensboro but just disappointed. Maybe I'll go back soon. If it's not good I guess i just have to give it up....

If you want fried seafood, the NC Seafood Restaurant is tough to beat. You get mounds of food, with choices like shrimp, flounder, coleslaw, French fries, and hush puppies. Crowded at lunch hour. The cafeteria style seating isn't the cleanest I've seen. Few if any choices for vegetarians.

Thought I'd already written this. This was 5th time we've been here and never had a problem. Otherwise, this would have been 2 stars. I got fried oysters. They were in season, for those who believe in such. They were terribly mushy and greasy, like the oil had not been hot enough. This was about 11:30am. I took them back and they refunded my money. There are no second chances with oysters. Also got scallops. Oddly enough, they were overcooked -- dry and chewy. I hope they get straightened out. This was one of our favorite restaurants in the area.

The portions are huge!! I got the catfish and pop corn shrimp. Knowing what I know now I would def get the jumbo shrimp. The popcorn there was too many! And I think because it is just a huge quantity it made for not the best quality. But the catfish were amazing! Boyfriend got broiled mahi. It was not good. Way too over cooked. I would stick with the fried platters. Hush puppies were bomb.

I recommend the cold boiled shrimp platter as a classic go-to. Their coleslaw and hush-puppies are the best sides. The checkout is efficient: you order with one of the guys and pay at the counter, then they call your number. Highly recommend!
