Nice place to hang out
Amazing food and great service!
Amazing staff. They are so friendly and down to earth. Great place for brunch. Small and cozy.
Went based on reviews. It didn't disappoint!!! My drinks and burger and brussel sprouts and chicken....I could've kept eating! It was great.
Delicious and satisfying food in a cozy spot with a great playlist. French toast, avo toast, and egg sandwich were amazing! Cool Bloody Mary menu and good food options. Service was great - both the host and the waitress.
Friendly atmosphere in rustic corner place setting in the West Village. Breakfast was fantastic. Avocado toast & scrambled eggs and farro bowl with kale, lentils, butter beans. Can highly recommend.
Nice, cozy ambience and attentive staff. Felt overpriced but then I don't live in Manhattan full time.
Amazing place. Got what you need when you need it. In spades!!!
Had brunch today, food was not tasty, coffee tasted like boiling water and looked like one.
Came in for coffee and dessert. I recommend all 3 desserts and the coffee was fantastic. Great atmosphere, staff; comfortable.
Service is terrible. No one met us when we got in. Barman told us to hang around till they open the second bar at 6pm. Waitress told us the second bar is reserved and there’s no guarantee we’ll have a table. Host told us they will call when they have a spot but never did. Another waiter said we can take the spot at the 1st bar. And then another waitress came up and said we need to go because the place is too valuable. Dear owner, please hire/assign a single person to manage seats in the restaurant. Client experience sucks. Feels like I owe them money not they I brought money to the business.
Great atmosphere, caring Staff, delicious food
Food is honestly amazing, the staff is very attentive, when I dropped my fork, I got a new one from a server not even 2 seconds after it happened
Wonderful brunch! My mum and I loved this place. Cute, cozy and warm despite the huge amount of people. Awesome service and amazing food!
One of the best burgers I've ever had. Great service and very cool decor and vibe. I'd like to go back and try a few more items on the menu.
I didn’t know I have been eating subpar eggs my whole life until I came here and was served the most perfectly cooked egg of my life. Amazing breakfast! Highly recommend. The chef, cooks, and service are spot on too!
One of the best brunches I've ever had
Good food. The menu will be a little sparse for someone who is gluten free.
Wow! Fantastic! Bears repeating!
Food and service were both excellent
Amazing experience as usual... Sunny the bartender is great and has her way in make people feel special... Food is always great.
i have had a lot of great cheeseburgers, this one might be one of the best!
Super friendly waitstaff in a nicely designed interior. The drinks were hit and miss. The food at brunch was mostly very good. The waitstaff was super helpful and accommodating. Went here after getting run out of the Jeffrey (across the street) by a super rude manager. In retrospect he did us a favor.
Great place
Wonderfull breakfast in NYC. Service very kind & excellent plates
Cosy spot. Very small and intimate vibe. Table availability is extremely limited so book early. We had the pear salad, the skate, the steak and the brussels sprouts. All four were amazing. The skate is fried, so you know. The sprouts were shaved, which made them easier to eat, like a slaw. Service was really good and the kitchen staff were fun and friendly. This is a can't-miss for any foodie out there.
Very cozy and well frequented spot. The food as the service are very good. Get prepared to wait if you haven’t booked in advance. Pricey but charming . Recommended.
Cozy restaurant with great breakfast. Had the omelette with ratatouille and avocado toast. It's a bit pricey but worth it for a weekend brunch.
Hands down, one of the best spots to eat in the city. I’ve been coming to JL for nearly 6 years now. It’s open late and always busy. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent. They have a good wine selection and the solid cocktails. Bar tenders are knowledgeable and are willing to experiment. The location is right in the heart of the west village. The restaurant might only seat 2 dozen people and I think that only adds to the overall experience. It’s a tight fit so if you’re afraid of small space a or like to spread out this isn’t the spot for you. Dinner is a favorite here. The menu is always evolving but some staples like the Brussels, Duck Breast, and Mussels are items that you must try. I recently went in for a late lunch and per usual the place was packed. Don’t get discouraged, it’s packed because the food, staff, and ambiance is great (and worth the wait). Greg (the GM) asked me to wait and quickly found me a seat at the bar and I was good to go.
Great somewhat hidden gem the village. Can often walk in and get a seat at the bar and eat there. Solid cocktails, good wine and beer options, and terrific food. Last time I was there I had grilled zucchini, chicken and scallops (split all) and everything was delicious.
The best hashbrow potatoes ever tried. #food #NYC #breakfast
At first I was sort confused who worked there since they were all wearing regular clothes, but I think that is the style of the restaurant and I really like it. They make excellent and delicious food, this place is among my top five to eat in the city and I can't stress enough how delicious the food is here, they were even able to make a drink that I really love. The one and only thing is the price I will say that the food is slightly pricey drinks are as well pricey. But once again this place is awesome besides that small pricey detail, I would go here again but not all the times.
Such a sweet little spot with excellent food! Loved the eggplant and the Cuban sandwich especially. Easy, laid back vibe for meeting up with friends, but would also be an awesome date spot.
Simple menu with all the classic breakfast food. Staff was friendly and timely. A cute little hidden spot
Great restaurant with extremely friendly staff. Food is very good. Can recommend the avocado toast.
I found this place while walking down the West V on a Sunday morning, just 3 or 4 hours after my plane landed in NYC. I was starving, cold and alone and this place brought life back to me. I sat at the bar and the staff welcomed me and made some conversation, so I felt like home in a beat. The vibe in there is amazing, 20 and 30 somethings, just chilling and having excellent food at a standard ny price. I enjoyed it so much that i got back there for lunch a few days later. Def going back next time. Highly recommended authentic little spot.
Another great spot by Stulman! Came here for brunch, and the food was great. Service was also awesome and wholesome! We got: whitefish rye, burger and madame croquet. Recommend all.
This is a really cozy, beautiful spot with delicious food in a perfect location. However, if you're one of those people who really enjoys their personal space, Joseph Leonard's may not be for you.. it is very small and always packed because of how yummy it is. If you can get over that, though, there's no reason why shouldn't spend a day brunching on their fried chicken sandwich with hand-cut fries and a side of brussel sprouts.
Tiny place but OMG on the food and drinks and staff was super friendly . The food was delicious! One of the best burgers I've had in NYC. I can't wait to go back to get another one. The drink recommended by the bartender was excellent! My only complaint was that the water glasses had that fresh egg smell and since I don't eat eggs that was a problem for me. Other than that one of my best NYC dining experiences.
Nice crowd, great staff and good food
My favorite restaurant in NYC. When they started taking reservations we did not know, and as walk ins for a birthday were bummed. Josh managed to find a way to squeeze us in for the chefs table (our favorite, we love Louis!) Some of the best service around. Food is delightful new American. Can never go wrong with the steak frites for two when it’s available, and after a dozen visits we’ve yet to get a bad dish.
Kinda student bar. Little weird food menu, nothing special. Drinks are ok. Overrated place
A Small and Cozy gem with delicious food, stellar service, comfortable Atmosphere and Sophisticated Ambiance. I had the duck breast with asparagus and quieter simply the best duck I've ever had. Seasoned and Cooked to perfection it was a sublime dining experience. Kudos to Joseph Lenard.
Top quality steak. Feels like you're eating in someone's house which is never a bad thing. Very comfortable.
Fabulous brunch, lovely staff, very strong cocktails! Had the mushroom, leek, barley with eggs with a side of country fried chicken bacon both of which were delicious. The staff were delightful and so helpful when it came to our luggage, which they stored in their basement while we waited for our table and ate. Long waits but worth it!
Goodness all around. Love this spot.
Went here for brunch one rainy morning. Very busy. Food was good.
I think it all depends on the day you go. I mostly came here for drinks but some of the food is good. Two starts because of very very rude service. The waiter was not only inexperienced about the food, but also the service itself. Take your money someplace it's appreciated - most likely not this one. Also last time I went in the hot summer evening. The ac wasn't working very well and the smell of chlorine made my friend nauseous so it ruined the ambiance. Strange because when I went here for the first time a year ago I really liked it
Really good, but very small place. We went there on a Sunday and we got the corner seats at the bar. I could smell and hear everything that was going on in the kitchen, so it wasn't ideal. But overall, good vibes and service.
Good food and service in this international restaurant
These stars are for our incredible server, Michael. The food and atmosphere were great, but we’ll be talking about this dinner for years to come because of Michael. He was engaging, hospitable, hilarious, had great recommendations, and went above and beyond to make our experience such a memorable one. We would absolutely go back to Joseph Leonard, especially if we got to sit in Michael’s section. Thank you, Michael!!
The food at this restaurant was great and the location is superb. But they crank up the music so it's as loud as a nightclub, and if you're sitting at the bar you're elbow to elbow with other patrons, with more people bumping your back as you're throwing back your delicious but expensive dinner before you get hearing damage. Get a table, book in advance.
Ambiance and music was great.
Yummmmm! Not really sure how to truly describe this experience. It was awesome!! Food is amazing and drinks fresh and prepared with love!
Charming, cozy, intimate and quiet. Awesome food, but I’d like to see a couple more healthier/veggie heavy brunch options. Special shout out to the non-alcoholic craft cocktails - delicious! Also the bathroom cabinet is stocked with cotton swabs, toothpicks and mints, and tampons for the ladies in case you have an emergency, so thoughtful.
Warm atmosphere of a fishing vessel :) If you're here for a brunch, be ready to order at least 2 entrees per person (17-20$ each). Delicious grilled shrimps on the picture.
Amazing fried chicken sandwich
Exceptionally friendly staff, great food. Had the chicken with corn and cherry tomatoes, and it was delicious.
All-around enjoyable.
Small plates and cocktails are delicious!
One of those rare places in NYC where the staff seems to have fun while working. I was there for Sunday brunch and the experience was more than positive from beginning to end. The host asked my name when I got in and addressed me by my name when he came back to check in on us later on. A nice touch. Waiters were friendly and service overall attentive and courteous. Food was delicious. At some point, most of the staff members were singing to George Michael’s song playing on the radio. That was fun! Keep on the good vibes, you guys! Life’s already way too harsh! ❤️
It’s the name at first then you discover the place and fall in love! It was only eight when I pushed the door open of Joseph Leonard’s small little heaven. Occupying the corner of some traditional quarters feeling like old London, a small restaurant, kind of a “bistro du coin”, this home away from home is the perfect stopover for every person seeking calm and serenity on the early hours. Dimmed lights, wood, stylish yet authentic decorative items, photos here and there, an old clock, travel bags, mirrors and the bar. It’s enchanting, it’s magical, I felt good the minute I walked in.
Ammmaaaaazzzing! The crispy eggplant, pate, strip stake, hash browns, drinks. All delicious! Would definitely come back! The atmosphere and service: top notch! All things considered my favorite little touch is that they give you a jar of tasty little pickles at your table.
I had the hanger steak with eggs and it was tasty!
Expensive a little bit food and the coffee is terrible.
Chilled ambience, great taste in music, super friendly staff (very funny!), fab setting, amazing food (even my food was happy!) - I didn’t want the experience (or the food) to end!
Just had lunch at this really nice, small West Village restaurant. Sat at the bar and were looked after by Sania who could not have provided better service or been nicer. We had avocado toast with eggs and poached chicken with salad - both were delicious. The Rose and caramel dessert topped it off. Wonderful place - we’ll be back for sure.
Absolutely delicious!
Awesome food, great staff, lovely decor. Will definitely be back.
Tonight was my first time here at this west village gem and it was delicious! It’s a small spot but was great for intimate dining with friends. Highly recommend for a date night. The food was incredible! Two of us has the duck which was even better than I expected. The pork belly appetizer was amazing and the scallops are a must. Service was great and the vino was top notch. Definitely worth the splurge. Hope to return again soon!
Food was amazing the drink were just as tasty. Friendly staff. All the boxes are checked off for this place. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!
Great quaint, little spot for brunch. Great quality and tasting foods. Great service and staff. Great atmosphere. Cute little place to enjoy your meal. Avocado toast came with 2 perfectly poached eggs and a great side salad.
Excellent brunch. Best bacon ever. Great service and you feel at home in an instant. A must visit!
Love this place. Great food, wine list and cosy atmosphere. Arrive early, it's a small restaurant.
Its ok
Love their chicken sandwiches
Super awesome brunch
Can't wait to go back
Awesome breakfast and coffee, fast service. All that you need.
Stopped here for brunch. Food was perfect and the decor was so adorable. Only complaint is how small the place is; there aren't a lot of places to sit.
Stumbled on this adorable little place and loved everything. The vintage decor fit the space well, staff was super friendly, and the food was delicious. We visited before the supper menu was available, but the "snack" menu was more than adequate. Husband had the chicken liver pate with onion jam and raved about it. I'm not quite that adventurous, so I had the burger, which was cooked well-done as I requested. Definitely worth eating there!
An absolute NO. I chose this place because of its good reviews. The place is MUCH smaller than it looks like in the photos. They sat the three of us on a 2-person table with the third chair being in the middle of the hallway; people would be pushing us to pass by. Not sure if this place is familiar with a thing called fire code, but it was for sure a violation. The menu had a handful of options, we ordered omelette and got a plate that was essentially a couple of eggs rolled in cheese and dipped in salsa along with 2 grams of bread. The waiter forgot to bring our tea, and the coffee was barely okay. I would for sure not go back here.
Had a wonderful dinner in this little restaurant. Loved the atmosphere and the service. The music they played was just the best. A bit expensive, but we are in the city!
Excellent service and drinks, but not many food choices.
Brunch at Joseph Leonard is always a treat, as long as you can snag a table in this cozy spot. Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich as it certainly gives Delaney's a run for its money!
Simple lunch menu. Food was good and nicely seasoned
This was the best breakfast I've ever had in my life - and I've gone out for a lot of breakfasts. The steak and eggs was so unique and well prepared, and the fried chicken burger was the BEST CHICKEN BURGER I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED! And I've also had a lot of those ... The place is cozy and intimate too. Perfect for any kind of date.
We stopped during a mid-day stroll. It's intimate, cozy. There was a lady shouting on her phone - they asked her to step outside. All the small plates are wonderful. It feels like a neighborhood spot.
Oof reaadyy Go there Sunday late evening and do some dancing with your lady
The booozy brunch is a very cool experience. This place is mostly dwelled by locals and it's usually packed, but the service is friendly and the food is tasty. Good value
Cozy, great charming service, very good brunch food. Not a budget restaurant, but very worth it. Extra points: great music!!
Were able to walk in without a reservation and got to sit at the bar; there were three of us. Service was great. The menu looked delicious. I had the whole branzino; it was one of the top two entrées I had in NYC. Everything was delicious. Make a reservation. You don’t want to miss this place. They know what they’re doing here.
My friend took me here and I loved the food and place. Will definitely go back.
This place has been a staple of NY ever since I can remember. Always local offerings with great wine.
Cute spot, great for an easy meal at the bar or a date if you can snag a table. Love the wood decor motif. Food is average tasty, prices are a couple dollars too much for portion size. But hey, it's the Village.
Fun/quirky environment, great service, delicious food
I feel like I definitely had the best avocado toast in my life!!!! My friend’s croque madame’s great too. The restaurant itself is very nice and cozy, great brunch spot!
My absolute favorite little place in the West Village. Love the small intimate ( seriously ) seating. The staff is cool and very witty. The food is awesome. Craft cocktails, trendy wine menu and pub grub with a pedigree.
Fantastic food and service. One of my go-to places in New York! The staff is very nice and does their job well. I love sitting at the bar and chatting with the bartenders. Classic NYC and high quality place!
A chill and well decorated brunch place. We ordered two egg plates and a hashbrown as side. Pretty tasty and even not crowded at all in the Sunday morning! Must have hashbrown!!!! Enjoy your sunny Sunday brunch here
Very nice! Keep coming back
Bring back the old egg sandwich!
The best burger I’ve ever had. The garlic aioli was great on it it the fries were amazing. Thank you New york very epic
Really lovely staff and the best fried chicken sandwich of my life! Thank you guys!
Very good, nice neighborhood place. Staff was very friendly. Thanks Danny Hagy got bringing us here.
Tiny spot with relatively adequate prices. The food is ok, however the portions could be more generous. Wine was a disappointment. Overall better than most places in terms of price/quality
The brunch here is delicious! Yes, there is a wait but it's worth it. It's not a great place for groups because the the space is pretty small. The service is friendly but not overbearing. The hash brown is crisp and the potatoes are very finely grated! The garlic sausage is garlicky goodness. I love the burger and the tomato marmalade is just divine. It is heavier on the salt and very decadent meal. Absolute gem!
Love with magnificent bevs and wait staff. Decent for New York, pricey for real people
Service was quick and friendly. Food was excellent. The fried chicken sandwich with fried okra was an ingenious pairing. Space was a bit cramped though
Great rustic look and cool friendly staff. Food and coffee were great!
Make a reservation. It gets super busy, because 1) The staff are wonderful. So fun and so helpful. 2) The food is delicious. It's not cheap but it's fantastic with some great twists on classic dishes. 3) The cocktails and choice of wines are also fantastic. Highly recommended. If you can go off a peak hour, like very early dinner, or later, it's much quieter but still has a great atmosphere. Playlists are KILLER.
It's always so lovely to return to JL. Great atmosphere, warm service, delicious brunch! A must do when combined with a walk through the village.
Joseph Leonard is one of my favorite restaurants in the Village. This restaurant is very small and only seats a handful of tables. It's a great date spot and it's very intimate. It's a busy place with a bar that also serves a full menu. I come for the Steak Frites on the late night menu, but the cocktail are great and the service is super friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend a reservation (for both brunch and dinner) as it's a very small place.
Amazing brunch - grits were perfect! Avocado toast fantastic - great Bloody Mary and staff was warm, friendly and inviting! Will def be coming back!
This is one of my favorite brunch places in SF. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait in line. It's completely worth it! Go there when it first opens. The coffee cake is still warm and so delicous. Love the french toast too. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Corner cafe/pub/bar/restaurant. I appreciated the friendly waiters, and the out-of-the-ordinary kitchen! We had the mussels and the liver. Both were extremely tasty! The beer selection is slightly limited but their cocktails were on point. I'd come again!
I had high expectations for this place but I really did not like my cocktail. I was told it wouldn't be too strong and I could not finish it. The burger was good but definitely overpriced. This was not worth it.
Nice spot for good food and drinks!
Great unique spot. High quality ingredients. Great service. No wonder it is so popular. A true gem.
A cozy place with very pleasant staff, great hospitality and food!
One of the most delicate risottos I have ever had. The fries, spot on—with just a hint of duck fat. The ambiance is very laid back and authentic. Not only a chill bar but even a great date or group spot. The service is fantastic and the establishment delights with all sorts of a details, including towels in the restrooms and custom made art that replaces the boring helvetica signage found in almost every other establishment. Small but not claustrophobic, so I would recommend grabbing a reservation any day past humpday. Not inexpensive, but who cares, welcome to New York. At least this time it’s worth it. (***** - La Via Hennessy)
Best brunch I've had in a long time. This place kills. Just make sure you call for a reservation because it's very small and always packed.
Cute interiors, friendly service, cozy bar seating. Brunch options all look and taste delicious. The Bodega breakfast sandwich looks a bit small, but is very filling. The Saucisson’s hash browns are massive.
Our server Mr. Daley (?) made our days much better and I think I’m funnier now cause of him. Oh and the beer/radish situation was fire. #Wiscolove
Nothing but love for the food at this place. It's a nice brunch spot if you want to meet a friend. Honestly, maybe just one friend. I'm sure they can seat 4, but it's not the most spacious restaurant. That won't be deterring me though, because the food is worth it.
Located in West Village, this place seemed cute and had a cozy feel to it since it was a bit small inside. Felt like a low-key brunch place. Brussel sprouts with sriracha- 5/5 This was the popular dish here and it did not disappoint. It made me super full and was also yummy. Although my initial reaction was that the dish seemed to be plain or boring- it ended being the total opposite after trying it.
Food and service was amazing. Kyle was fantastic. One of the best micheladas I’ve ever had. Just be prepared for being crowded and bumped. I guess that is just New York. Will definitely be back next time in town. Excellent coffee and dill infused bloody Mary’s.
Don't get scared of the long line, its worth it!! Go in and you'll enjoy anything (Monte Cristo is a must try!) you'll order.
Great food, good drinks. Waiting staff friendly and helpful. Front of house Josh Racist!
Coney Island Is great. A Lot of fun Is guaranteed. Good food at Nathan's. A verte nivel beach. And the Luna Park's attractions.
Great food and people, any time of day. One of the best spots in the Village.
Super friendly staff! And food was delicious, this place is a gem.
Delicious brunch in an old New York setting. Go before 11 am on weekends, gets crowded after..
Adorable place - delicious
Great comfort food, chill atmosphere, warm service!
Great service and great food. What else is there to say
One of my favourite places...every time I come back to NY this is my first stop! Excellent food
What a lovely little place. Great atmosphere and service
Great food and great service!
Very cozy local place, solid food (trout, burger and chopped liver) and excellent service. Based on value and location 4.5 stars. Good desserts as well.
Been here a few times. Solid place, nice atmosphere to meet friends and have a drink. Food is good if a bit overpriced. Service has always been good and the food comes pretty fast usually. Good selection of beer. It is on the smaller side though so it does fill up quickly.
Place very nice, food and drinks are great
Small spot for a good dinner staff was friendly and service was fast. Very new York not touristy at all.
What a great West village staple. Always my go -to, small plates and great cocktails. A clear view of Citipups, constant cuteness. A legend for a reason put it on your want to go list.
Awkward service! We showed up on a Friday around lunch and the place was not crowded at all. Had a nice time, food was good, and then right in the middle of our entrees, a server with pretty pink hair sat down on the table next to us and asked us to move to the table she was currently sitting on so they could combine our table with another and seat a four top. Not sure why they couldn’t have waited five more minutes for us to finish eating but we politely asked to stay where we were and for the rest of the meal we felt rushed and unwelcome. I would not recommend this place if you want to sit at the same table for the duration of your meal. Extremely disappointing end to an otherwise lovely Friday.
Fantastic place! Thank you for the stunning evening! Everything was perfect!
Great food and atmosphere. The wait here was a bit long. But it was definitely worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Quite a few food options which changes depending on the time of the day (breakfast, brunch etc) the food was really delicious. The chicken is open so you can sort of see the food being prepared which adds to the great atmosphere
4 stars for location/interior vibes / food (brunch) is 3 stars - solid average breakfast.
