REVIEWS OF The Lobster House IN New Jersey

Judy Cruts

For years we have been coming here. This year we were disappointed. Waitress was wonderful but the food not some much. My steak was raw , had to send it back. Lobster was way over cooked, tasted like rubber, cole slaw had a funny taste. My husband had the crab cakes and they were good.

Michael Oconnell

The ONLY place to consistently have the best. lobster tail and the price hasn't changed in decades. Fried tomatoes app is awesome.

Michelle Iuvara

Beautiful day at shore. The oysters were awesome! Great service and pretty views. Definitely be back.

Eric Chatfield

Long wait but its obviously a local favorite year round. Decent food great location right on a marina. Amazing sunset views. Would def go back. O yea... Raw bar if ur into that.

sara spiegel

Be prepared to wait. A long time. If you have it in your mind that you will be waiting a long time, then the rest of the experience will be worth it. The food is really great and the service is awesome but this establishment, even though they have 5 dining rooms, still has a minimum wait of 45 minutes on a weeknight. Its history precedes it, so it is worth the visit.

Carmela Mayerson

Stay off the Schooner!! You are not acknowledged till you raise hand, food terrible, service just as bad. I should have taken photos of customers with their hands up for attention while the servers were busy talking. Inside lobster house awesome. Stay off Schooner .

John Crouthamel

It's one of those must try places. We ate inside by the window, great view of the folks eating outside on the deck of a ship. Ah well, next time. The food was good as was the service. Worth a visit!

Michelle Boyd

Lobster house in Cape May is always one of our dinners out. Food is always excellent, staff is very friendly and service is quick and on the ball. Love their shortbread cookies to take home and the ultimate chocolate dessert both in the take out market.

John de Kock

Calamari appetizer was awful. Seemed days old, overcooked, and bland. Crab cakes were simply atrocious; the equivalent of something store-bought. The experience was only salvaged by my wife's excellent steamed seafood bowl which had lobster, crab, mussels, clams, shrimp and scallops. Service was slow to start but very friendly. Overall, considering the prices, I would recommend any number of the surrounding seafood places instead.

Mark Elson

Dated interior. The decor I can forgive but the food quality has really declined here. Had the lobster and is was like chewy rubber...won’t be back

James Chamberlain

The crew of the Cerulean ate dinner at the Lobster House on a very busy Monday night - great weather - in August. There was a long wait (approx 1 hour). We spent the wait over drinks on the "Schooner" next door (through the entrance and then straight ahead) - which was surprisingly not crowded. The meals were well worth the wait, however! The Cold Seafood Salad was superb! Lots of fresh seafood, including lobster, mussels, crab, shrimp, etc. on a bed of lettuce. We also had the onion soup and two other seafood entrees. The cold seafood salad should have been served with a lobster cracker and side bowl for the shells. Also the wine list is a little limited but we find some nice glasses of red. Desert menu was not very good, we had the key lime pie which lacked taste and crust was not very good. Service was good, but not exceptional. Also, the market with an assortment of cooked seafood and other items looked interesting for visit on another day. They also were supporting a very busy take out crowd with the large take put area which is through the entrance and off to the left along the water.

helen krug

Tradition every year . Good food lovely atmosphere. Flip flops and t shirts. All good

Patrick McCarthy

Get there early. They don't take reservations. If you have a long wait it will be worth it. Don't expect beer on tap and they do not have an infinite selection of bottles beer. The sea food is great. We ordered 4 different things from the regular menu and all were great. Service was also great. They seem to have a large wait staff. Would definitely go there again and make sure I got there when they open for dinner at 4:30pm

Jackie Everitt

Order at the Fresh fish counter and pick up in the back. Eat outside on the water . Great prices and excellent foods

Antonette Bomentre

Wonderful dining experience both inside the restaurant and overlooking the marina from the deck of the schooner! Fabulous Rum Runners, fresh oysters on a half shell and fried green tomatoes

Zoraida King

Very nice meal and not as expensive as they could be! Great seafood restaurant and market. You can sit inside or outside and they offer a pick up window as well. The bread should be served warm rather than cold, but that is all the bad I have to say. Would return!

The Lobster House on Fisherman's Wharf at Cape May Harbor is a bustling seafood restaurant that offers a large indoor restaurant, casual dockside tables, raw bar, full service seafood counter, and full cocktail lounge aboard the docked Schooner American sailing vessel. It can get very crowded during popular days and times during the summer months, and parking can be challenging. I'd highly suggest placing your order at the seafood counter and then enjoy a drink on the Schooner American while you wait for your order. The seafood is fresh and there are enough options and varieties to suit any seafood fan. I highly recommend the fried fish combo platter. Portions are generous and filling. Grab your order and find a table dockside to enjoy your meal as you watch the sunset. Make sure you say hi to Robbie the Lobster!

Faith Barnhart

Crab cakes were too soft and not enough lump crab meat (think tuna salad consistency). Bar room had an interesting smell.

Judy Cook

Eating on the pier is great. We ordered inside the seafood market and ate outside. The food is delicious.and value is. We eat there every time we are down in Cape May. Great value, great food. Dont miss the opportunity.

Aubrey Becht

Been many times before and food was becoming mediocre. This time they really step up there game. The special of lobster crusted sea bass was amazing. Our server Gabby was awesome, was on top of our needs without being asked. Great meal.

Rob Giordano

We had a great dinner here. I ordered the Crab Au Gratin, very delicious. Even though they were pretty busy, the food still came out very quickly. Great service and great atmosphere.

Tom Marsh

Sweet and salty oysters friendly staff casual atmosphere.don't let the crowds scare you. Walk to the back go to the Raw Bar where are you order your food at the window grab a cocktail find a seat and pick up your food when they call your number. Everything moves along pretty quickly A nice way to enjoy some fresh seafood.

M. L. Hunt

It was fine. Speaking only for takeout operation. Shrimp salad was well-prepared and -seasoned with good ingredients but could've been fresher. Crab cake was just a bit bready for my taste. Key lime pie was quite good, as was the lobster salad. Service was reasonably quick given how busy the place was. All told a pretty good experience.

John Goff

Our first time here. The food was Great. Lisa our waitress was very helpful selecting gluten free options.

Annie Jules

Sat outside at the Lobster House. If you are able to navigate the place and wait the food is well worth it. Always go with the broiled seafood platter.

Nick Maffattone

Excellent everything. Great atmosphere - place is huge with everything from a captain’s cabin like vibe to an outdoor bar on a ship. Great service - our waitress Kim was phenomenal, and honest. She let us know that the crab cakes were just OK and we should go with live-streams bisque and Lobster House Specialty for our dinner. Great food/drink - The Lobster House Speciality was my best dinner in Cape May, and reasonably priced. The drinks as well. Never had an Orange Crush as good as it was here Definitely recommend to people looking to dine at a universally family friendly, yet classy spot.

This is the seafood restaurant where the locals eat. They have their own fleet, so everything is fresh. The New England clam chowder is extraordinary (and we lived in Rockport MA for a couple years). Buy take-out and eat at tables on their dock, and prices are reasonable. My one complaint is the price and selection of drinks.

Brooke Young

The Lobster House is a massive seafood machine that is on many of the "must go-to's" for summer tourists. It actually combines 4 different restaurant experiences, which generally are: fine dinning, take-out on tables, casual dinning, and the schooner (a bar on a docked boat with a limited menu). The menu hits all of the seafood staples. We had the stone crab claws (good), fried calamari (not great), and oysters (ok) to start. I grabbed a lobster roll after that, which was served on a potato bun. It has plenty of lobster but probably 25% too much wet, creamy filling. The real winner from the menu is the crab soup, which is super tasty with a hint of hot spice. Bottom line: this is a fun environment and the food is perfectly fine but nothing that is exceptional.

Alex Yellow

Get there early, but otherwise it is incredible. the food is

Jeff Saunders

The 2 stars were for the bread and the butter. When you walk in you go through the bar area which honestly stank really bad. We ordered the oysters which were awesome and the calamari which was overcooked and tasteless. Next we had the cold seafood platter which was ok. I have had much better and also had the daily special which was the halibut which was overcooked making it somewhat dry. The bread and butter was amazing.

Emma Keyes

Absolutely amazing. My family and I went for my birthday on a Tuesday night- arrived at 4:30 and waited in the long line until they opened for dinner. It was intimidating at first but we were seated relatively quickly, it’s best to arrive early and hungry. The food was to die for and the portions were certainly worth the price. We all decided to get desert which was also phenomenal. I want to give a special shoutout to Diane our waitress who was so wonderful and sang Happy Birthday to me!

Jim Vincenti

The soft shell crab sandwich was absolutely amazing. The New England clam chowder was thick and full of crab. I enjoyed the meal. We ordered through the fish market. We ate outdoors.

Lee Gilbert

This place his usually good, but we tried to eat at the bar today. Initially there was the proverbial drunken sailor, who left, but he was followed by six very loud middle-aged guys who arrived with a blaring Bluetooth speaker playing at maximum volume, precluding normal conversation. Male menopause in full display. Food and service was good as usual, but not enjoyable with these jerks present. While we were leaving other customers commented to us that they were sorry we had to sit next to these guys, and they did not appreciate their presence.

Carol Massa

Food was amazing. Very busy. You had to wait, but has indoor and outdoor waiting areas with a bar. Servers very friendly and attentive. Fish very fresh!

David Owens

Great bread!! Wonderful ambiance. Fast fast service, lobster was perfect. Some elements nastalgic which might need to be updated but a must do in Cape May

George Bennett

The food was good in this place and service was decent. Just make sure they don't set you next to another couple. Some of the seats are a little too close for comfort, but if you ask for another table they can give you one. The view is great and the food was really delicious.

Ray Spickler

The food was all superb. I had raw oysters, New England clam chowder, freshly baked bread, Flounder Francaise. It's sauteed in lemon and butter, and appeared to have a very light breading. A big lunch, but it was my first time to Cape May and the view of the harbor was nice.

Dan Minix

We enjoy coming to the Lobster House for lunch or dinner. We decided on the Lobster House last night , it was a good size party of six. We checked out the menu on your website and decided it was the place to go. Obviously the prices on the website didn’t match the prices on the menu. Everything was at least six dollars more! Up date the menu on your website!

Timothy Donohue

Just left LH ...” and it’s just alright..” sorry I loved this place threw the years.. got the fisherman’s warf ..?? No thanks .. should of just got a burger ...” second time to.. ”the not so great sea food especially the crab meat .” ?? Deviled clam..?? You make the call ......

Kenneth Ng

I give the lobster house mediocre rating for a few reasons we came on a weekend and was accommodated to fit a party of 10 the server was a bit irritated in her appearance overall experience was graded upon the food thought it was average for a very expensive price. Felt like the takeout which was a fraction of the cost was very similar to the $65 platter inside I am not sure that the inside accommodations would justify for such a large price disparity with average service

Smokey Breitner

Have eaten at better places. In my opinion there are better places to eat in the area. Service was great.

Rochelle Taylor

Don't know how this place has such great reviews. The only thing good was our oysters Rockefeller and server was nice. For what we spent I expected a lot more. My husband and I work in a fine dining restaurant back home and were surprised with how out of touch this restaurant is. They don't take reservations so our party of 6 waited 1 & 1/2 hrs. Food was incredibly bland, I ordered my tuna mid rare came out well done. Never saw a manager to come check on us. The glassware for water and cocktails were ridiculous. The waiter couldn't keep up with refilling our water because it was gone in no time. Very disappointed, will never go back or reccommend to anyone.

Robert Ranzinger

This place is living off its older reputation! Now working like a factory, no individual attention, just churn, churn! Don't waste your hard earned fine out dollars here!!!!!

Brandon Hurd

Never can go wrong with the lobster house. Raw bar is a must. Sit on deck to view beautiful waterfront

Boris Galinsky

It is a local institution. A very popular place. Me and my wife ordered 2 soups and a fisherman's platter to share. Soups were fine. We also got a smal load of very fresh bread and a generous potion of butter. Fisherman's platter was a disappointment. I guess he was a junior - only one shrimp, one stuffed shell, one crab cake, three small scallops and 2 big pieces of the most inedible fish. Kind of reminds of the "food is awful and portions are small" reviews.

Wendy Nichols

Our dockmates in the marina invited us to dine with them at The Lobster House. Incredibly busy but worth the wait. Staff and service was excellent and the food was superb. We can see why it's a pilgrimage year after year for visiting yachtsmen.

Eliezet Velez

I came here a few weeks ago with a couple of guys. We docked my uncle's boat and visited the outdoor bar. The bartender's outside were awesome. They were very patient with a rude customer and handled the situation as well as they could have. We had nice conversation. The atmosphere was great. There was good music playing and a great view of some really nice boats coming in and out. The drinks were cold and the food was delicious although I wish there were more options on the outdoor bar menu

Carl Fleischman

Excellent restaurant & service. Nice vibe. A bit pricey but the food is wonderful and the servings large. Good drinks. Friendly people from everywhere. Nice lounge and white tablecloth dining. Good place for parties and romance.

Marylue Durff

Always fun. Love dining in the open air by the water. Lobster was somewhat mushy but the flavor was good. Corn on the cob was good. Service was fast & friendly. A annual tradition during our Cape May visit.

Kelly Lindsay

We ate at the raw bar. We had great service and the food was all very good. Waitress was super good.

Karen Wagniere

Stayed at South Jersey Marina so within walking distance...Great dinner...Stuffed Lobster & Lump Crab in sauce were both excellent. Highly recommend this place & not as expensive as some with way better food and service.

Lynn Maready

Most excellent lunch! Service from Totti was superior! We own a waterfront seafood restaurant so our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. We both had the Three Pound Lobster meal and it was perfection. The location and atmosphere was amazing. Looking forward to returning again soon and hope to have Totti as a server again!

Karon Wolf-Brosey

If it had been my first time there, probably would not soon go back...very disappointing!!!

Leigh Lehhman

We love the Lobster House. Eat either on the dock or on the in the restaurant. The fish is fresh off the boat.

Terry Riegel

First time we ate on the schooner. Good service. Limited menu. Great food.

Angela Katsavavakis

Very large restaurant on the Harbour that offers dockside seating, a full indoors and outdoors bar and a raw bar. Very busy and crowded yet service is fast. Food is good yet it wasn’t our favorite in Cape May. Feels like a tourist trap, although we learned it is a locals favorite. It has been around since 1922. There is a fish market next door plus there is a take out window.

Jack Healy

Good family spot. The Lunch and dinner here is delicious, but my breakfast this morning was a little disheartening. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed my meal, but I ordered a side of bacon and it was burnt. Just a little mental error by the chef, not too big of a deal. All in all it was a good meal. 7.6 official review.

Ron Gonzales

Awesome food. The soft shell crab sandwich was amazing! Very clean and organized place.

James Anderson

We went in for an early dinner. I opted for the Trio where I picked three items from a decent sized list. I chose fried shrimp, clams, and sirloin steak. My side was corn on the cob. My wife got the trio too but picked mussels, crab cake, and fried clams. We also had hush puppies. They bring out cheddar biscuits before your meal as well. Great meal for the price.

Wanda Nitsch

Had lunch with a delicious lobster salad. The everything loaf of bread is worth the extra carbs. Have different dining venues, the main dining room, the outdoor raw bar, and the schooner floating by the dock. If eating indoors, many tables do not have a good view of the marina for the schooner blocks your view. Did lunch because we heard the wait for dinner was over an hour. We walked right in at noon.

Ron Armitage

Service was great. The food was marginal. For being at such a great location the main restaurant was not open to water. It was a time warp back to the 1970’s. You can eat outside with water views but they only have a limited menu. If want to eat at your grandparent’s restaurant this pace if for you. If are looking for something with a younger vibe give this place a pass. They even make the waitresses wear obnoxious 1950 sailor uniforms. Not worth the long lines.

Stanley Chan

This place is really as good as the reviews say. The portions are decent the prices amazing. And the quality is the best in the area!

Stan Fernandes

This is a pretty casual seafood restaurant. The food was okay.my wife tried the crab cakes and they were not too good, we were hoping for a lump crab cakes but these were a bit different. My clam strips were okay and the side dishes were good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And as I said the atmosphere is very casual. We were there for lunch so I can't really speak to dinner if that was any better.

Tim K

The fried scallops are great. The shrimps are fantastic. Buy from raw bar. It's much cheaper.

Brian Roberts

Ate next door from the fish market take out...sat on the warf. Food from the fish market was very good... several restaurants are connected but only the fish market had chowder.

tina higgins

I could not believe the poor service by the brunette on the boat around 630- 7pm. It was so evident that because I was not a wealthy bachelor I was not deserving of exceptional service. She was rude. I was not intoxicated and if you have ever been here, they have very strict rules about alcohol which is understandable. I ordered a drink and when my husband found me he ordered a drink and she asked "is it for him or you". Disgusting what difference does it make to a middle aged couple? And why the eye roll? Her single bachelor men received top notch customer service. I did not want any comp and asked for nothing but just gave feedback to management. This is a very high volume business. Food is excellent but this 5 year visit put a bad tatse in my mouth. I have a team of 23 employees. If they ever treated a customer like this they would be terminated. I hope management does the right thing.

Beth Norman

At the take out counter, ask for a can of crab fingers. About $18 enough for appetizers for 4 they are terrific and quite a novelty. Buy the mustard sauce too. Yummy.

Lia Bets

Very nice staff (Phil) and the food was very good! I had the crab stuffed shrimp and it was awesome! The smell downstairs was not pleasant, but luckily I was seated in the upstairs, which had a great view!

Samantha Silverstein

Amazing staff, well prepared seafood. Everything was so fresh and came out of the kitchen promptly. My friends and I came here basically on a whim. All we wanted was a drink and a quick meal before heading back to the Philly area. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Even sitting at the bar I didn't feel like we were treated any differently than any other guests. If I get to come back to Cape May you can bet I'll be coming back to this restaurant.

Jason Hagerman

Food was excellent and the service was great. Had live reggae music while we were there which was a nice touch. This place gets crowded quickly. They open at 430pm. We got there at 445pm and it was already getting crowded. We didnt have a wait but when we left, the wait was over 1 hour and 30 mins. Get there early!

Lauren Quinn

Fun, old-time traditional beach place.long wait...go early andd enjoy a drink and snacks on the water -- on a schooner. Take in the breeze and love you. Totally worth the wait! Great for families. Excellent service. Cannot make reservation. Great value for the food but a wine is definitely way overpriced. The calamari is a must.

Francis DellaVecchia

Was suggested by Dennis at The Deck in Wildwood. He was spot on!! Very nice place offering everything from seafood market to raw bar and a schooner bar. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Drinks and waitstaff were awesome also. Can't wait to go again.

Ida Gehman

This place is wonderful!! Food was great and being able to sit by the water on the dock was amazing!! Need to go back on Thursday to get take out! Clam chowder and maybe fish and scallops!

Felicia Rosen

As soon as I drive into Cape May, I stop by the Lobster House to get some lobster salad for lunch. It's become a ritual for me - first lunch, lobster salad - for the last 15 years. I know that the establishment offers many food options and it's always crowded, but for me the first taste of the beach vacation is the lobster. I thought my tradition might die when there was a fire a few years back. But they survived! If you stop by, you'll find something you love to eat that will become your tradition. I highly recommend it.

Norma Iatarola

Honestly one of the worst meals and grossly overpriced for what we received. Couldn't chew the fried calamari. Mussels were overcooked. Salads were sparse. Flounder was bland. Crab cakes were bland. Vegetables were disgusting unless you had the jarred applesauce. The waiter was not pleasant. Tuna so-so and salmon got an okay. Children's menu is ridiculous. We went based on the reviews. Boy was this a letdown.

Marcia Cox

Seafood platter, clam chowder. Fish fillet needed more flavor. Food good otherwise.

Vinny Vino

Friendly staff and seafood so fresh you will see the boats pulling up while you're eating. Steaks that can feed two, accompanied by homemade sides like apple sauce and stewed tomatoes. There is usually (read: ALWAYS) a wait here. So expect a wait and come before you're famished. They have some of the friendliest wait staff ever!

Kristin Hoffman

Ate at the take out area. Great concept and lovely free seating area. Good price for fresh quality seafood. Three orders of fries were cold. Oyster crackers stale. Styrofoam containers are not necessary if you opt to eat there. Awful container for your biggest resource, the ocean.

Michael Daulerio

Amazing food and very acceptable prices. Atmosphere is phenomenal and cozy too!

John Roach

Nothing better than ordering from the take-out area & sitting dockside on a beautiful summer-like day. The food and ambiance is fantastic.

Chris S

Delicious food! So much delicious food! But during the busy season, the summer months, the wait can be very long.

Elizabeth Harabutda

We had lunch on the schooner. We didn't know that you had to seat yourself, no sign. We placed our order. It was a bit of a wait but, well worth it. The food was so good and plentiful. The wait staff was excellent. We are going back next week.

anthony stefanelli

Classic old school restaurant. Broiled seafood platter was excellant as was the bisque and the French onion. Somewhat dissatisfied with the prime rib, I suggest you stick with the fish.

LORESSA JUDAH

The same item I ordered when I 1st came here 27 yrs ago tasted just as AMAZING yesterday. They have maintained the same high quality of ingredients which is paramount to me. Service was also impeccable as always.

Kenneth Grant

Went to the raw bar out back. Wait was short. Had the crab soup which was amazing. The group had 1.5 pound lobsters with an aptizer of calamari and onion rings. Everyone was more than happy and will be returning to try other dishes. Great evening g and the view out back is just perfect for a seafood resturant. Price was fair and quality and service beyond approach.

Scott Gregorowicz

Authenticity and tradition is why I still eat here. But, the food isn't all that great. Looking to start a new tradition elsewhere.

Melanie Butterworth

The food was delicious!! We sat on the boat where the menu was limited. When a seagull swooped down and grabbed my dinner, the staff was nice enough to replace it for free.

Mario Garceran

This place made all the various dishes order at the table to perfection. As a whole we were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the seating area, restrooms (bathroom attendant present) and building. Staff is very friendly and parking is convenient.

David Hamilton

A classic ... awesome food, great attentive service and reasonably priced. Very well worth a visit.

Therese Ptak

We were here for a rehearsal dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! Loved the ambiance of the place.

Cathy Rohner

Water front dining with excellent service. Food was very good, portions were generous and prices were excellent.

Kathy McGowan

Well worth the wait. Food is excellent!

Rich Wildrick

Classic seafood house with many fresh items to choose from. Very busy on our visit, but the staff was buzzing around keeping everything moving to get hot food to everyone. Even the sailor uniforms worn by the waitresses fit the retro feel of the restaurant.

renken33 .

Absolutely wonderful! The food is a 10 out of 10. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is great. The place is very clean. I eat here every chance I get. The lobster bisque is the best I've ever had. Can't say enough good things. This place is awesome!

Bud Hughes

Eating at the Lobster House is always enjoyable. We enjoy special occasion dinners there 6+ times per year. The staff is genially caring and attentive to our needs and desires. Never rushed. Living at the shore year round we especially like the “winter months” kind of selfish but no crowd.

Ashley Colon

I came here with the first time with my boyfriend we were so excited to try this place after hearing how amazing it was. The two young girls (red head with glasses and brunette) at the host stand were so rude that we almost left. I’ve been standing here waiting for an hour to sit and every customer that walks to talk to them they just get nastier and nastier. I’m a bartender/ server. You’re first impression is the people at the front. I get that it’s busy but it doesn’t give them a right to be so rude to literally everyone.

Captain Trips

Alicia was our server we had a party of 8 and she did a fantastic job making sure our family dinner went off without a hitch. Great service!!

Sue Clifford

After visiting Cape May Lighthouse and beach, we stopped for a meal. Nice views of working waterfront and boats from our dockside windows. Delicious seafood and good food for the land lubber too! A little more upscale than I expected with fabric tablecloths and napkins, but felt very welcome in our shorts and T-shirts. After a fabulous dinner, we went into their seafood market. What an amazing array of fresh and pre-cooked seafood for sale. A must see during your visit!

Cyndi Moore

The best seafood. And it's the same price as red lobster. It fresh out of the ocean. Rather than being frozen at red lobster. And it's in Cape may. To get a good seat or view you have to be there around 3:30

Justin Caple

Lobsters are always terrific. Biggest qualm here is the take-out lobster mac-n-cheese. Overcooked pasta leaving the store. Once reheated it turns too mush. Al dente anyone?

Judith Sigmund

Don't know why only one star came up. We have been going there for years. We love everything about the Lobster House. See you soon.

Rene Kokoska

While we were waiting for their 4:30 start time, my 6 year old son was looking at one of their several model ships on display. It was off in an empty side dining area. He wasn't doing ANYTHING but looking at the ship, his hands to himself, not even speaking nor was he coughing. A waitress was dispatched to get him out of the room. After that, we left. I'm sure no lobster they had tastes a good as keeping my pride.

Mary-Ann Matusewski

When in Cape May The Lobster House is the place to go for seafood. They have a fresh seafood market, a takeout section and an amazing restaurant. I had a baked crab meat with melted cheese dinner that was delicious and snapper soup. My group had lobster bisque oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail, salmon, and shrimp parmigiana. Meals come with house salad, potatoes and vegetables.

Ty Hagy

Great place to eat. You can get the take put and eat on the open air deck in the back, this is what I would recommend. You can also get a table inside, this is a different menu and a little more pricey. They do have chicken fingers for kids who don't like seafood and fried chicken for adults

Dara Leigh

They have no means to be charging the price they do for fish that’s loaded with preservatives.. My family’s dishes tasted great but the shrimp and scallops on my plate was loaded with iodine. It wasn’t even edible. Update. I have to say the manager of this restaurant was very nice on the phone after calling about the issue. He refunded us the money and was very polite about it. I have to give 3 stars. Reason being I believe that the prices are just not reasonable.

ABDALLAH IRAQI

Kim our waitress was great. This place is huge and a lot of people. Food was so delicious. Every item makes you wanna eat. We ordered a lot we could not finish the plates. You will love it

Shabree95

First time going - food and service was great all around! Best part is the incredible quality of fresh food for a great price especially down at the shore! Can't wait to go back - will be making it a highlight stop on our next trip down to Cape May!

Nicholas Evanish

We went here with family on our trip to Wildwoods, NJ. We ventured over to Cape May and they had a really cool area to wait for your table to get drinks and eat some food from the Raw Bar. We got the "Spicy Shrimp" which was basically Old Bay seasoning and some extra spices. Pretty good! My wife got a seafood medley for her entree and I had the flouner (no pic available). The prices were a bit high for my liking given the food was nothing out of this world special. Therefore, I had to go with 3 stars (if they had half, I'd of done 3.5)

Scott Philbrook

We always have takeout and eat on the dock.servings are generous - we typically get a pound of scallops. More than enough for the two of us. Sometimes we get a ceasar salad at Raw Bar. Always good. Great location overlooking harbor.

K

Takeout and ate on the deck. Got broiled combo. Everything was way overcooked and rubbery. What a disappointment. Also got the hot and spicy shrimp from raw bar. Terribly overcooked. Could not even peel the shrimp and they had a really funky chemical taste. Did have the crab soup from Raw Bar that was absolutely excellent! Would only eat inside from now on.

J C

Gotta give it a visit, at least once. Of the outside shop deck is full, try for a window seat inside. Good food, friendly service ... It must be a landmark by now.

Stephanie Gross

I came here because the reviews were really good. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was lovely, right by the water. The reason for my one star was for the main reason I came, the food. The food looked amazing, but it was actually bland in flavor. I got the flounder francaise with a side of rice, an apple sauce, and side Caesar salad (about $26). The flounder was supposed to be fried, but it looked like it was broiled and did not have any flavor from seasonings (wine, etc that it explains in the menu). The rice was decent, but more like minute rice. The salad was good. The apple sauce was also good, but these are not the reasons I came. Although I would have loved to leave this place a great review, I am saddened enough by my experience to feel the need to warn any others who are coming due to its popularity.

My First time at LH. The place is clean, great service and food is excellent. I had the 2.5 lb Lobster with baked potato. Simply awesome. Fresh hot bread and corn on the cob. House Red Wine great too. I recommend. Worth the 2 hour drive.. Hats Off LB' i will visit again for sure......

We always eat outside and have never had a bad meal...love Raw Bar...been going here over 20 year plus

Outstanding Don't miss this one while in Cape May ! A must visit. Big crowds here but the place is huge. To avoid a long wait, get there before 6pm. If there is a wait, it's well worth it.

A very popular spot in Cape May. It can be a little confusing as there are more then one place to eat here. We opted for the full service option. The food was fresh and tasty. I think I will try the outdoor counter service next time I go.

As always this place never disappoints. The food was delicious & the service is top notch..when in Wildwood or Cape May, this place is a must.

I'm originally from Cape May and haven't been back since '12. Prior was '89, when I joined the Navy. The lobster house was where I hung out as a kid. Love the sea, LOVE the Cape, and the lobster house has been a second home!! OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! OUTSTANDING ATMOSPHERE!! Heavenly!! Really!! And the food,,, c'mon,,, C'MON!!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST SEAFOOD!! I've been blessed to grow up in Cape May,, and to have seafood and standard, and service,, (I worked there too!!), You CAN'T BEAT IT!!

Anne McKnight

It was very disappointing..my husband's food was cold and my calimari was over fried by about 5 minutes.. The place was dark and dirty won't every be going back. Definitely not worth the hipe

Excellent service. Our waiter was attentive and funny! My boyfriend got the swordfish and it was cooked perfectly. I got the baked stuffed flounder. It was AMAZING. I highly recommend this place.

Ate outside on the Schooner. Great view and breeze. Had the spinach salad, very good with bacon, fresh mushrooms and a delicious dressing.

Always loved this place, when I was a kid we always went to the lobster house. But as an adult with my own family I handed the server my card, and when he'd brought the bill he said he'd leave it for my "husbands review" (he was walking around with the baby). Quite the sexist experience that didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Food was good. But quite the unfavorable experience.

My family and I love the Lobster House

Ate outside ordered from both the Raw Bar and Take Out. Outside dining is self serve and there are 2 different menus. Order and then wait to be called. Dockside seating is fun and there are covered seats for rain/sun. You do eat out of take out containers paper plates/tin foil and styrofoam boxes. Can be hot/stinky depending on the weather. Food was very tasty. Wasn't crowded when we went on a week night at 8pm but it does get packed so plan accordingly.

This is our go-to for good seafood whenever we are in Cape May. We had the snapper soup which was outstanding. My wife had a salmon Oscar which was also excellent (she let me try some when she wasn't looking). Whether it be for a sit down meal, or take out of fresh seafood from the market, I highly recommend the Lobster House

07/01/2019. We ordered 3 appetizers, which never came. 3 bowls of bisque, & 1 bowl of snapper soup were ordered. Eventually they arrived at our table, without spoons. The soup was cold, by time we received our spoons. Eventually our entrees arrived, 45 minutes later; also, ice cold. While we waited for the entrees, I was outvoted by our party. I wished to get up and leave. Finally, the check arrived; before we were offered coffee or desserts. When I questioned this, our server replied: “ Everything was so bad, I didn’t think you wanted it.” She was correct about that. Our experience was horrendous!

Food was good in general but the redfish was very fatty and not well seasoned. Corn on the cob was great as was the lobster house specialty. Good service, nice view.

Dan Jahn

Food was fantastic as always. When ever I'm in south Jersey it's a must. Love dining on the back deck with the family.

Ballsy Bunny

Amazing place. It was so much fun. I loved walking around and loved dining in by the water. Although dining could be expensive, the Lobsters were very fresh and very tasty. Definitely enjoy my weekly Cape May visits and will continue visiting and eating lobster here until the summer ends

Best part about this place was the service. We heard a lot of hype about it. My husbands meal was good, he had the special. I got a seafood platter broiled. No seasoning or salt, no butter on it, dry, overcooked, crab cake not crispy at all. So they remade it, was exactly the same. I asked for melted butter, they use fake butter/popcorn type oil. Yuck. Service was beyond expectations. Nice ambience, but our table was literally 6 inches from another. We were basically dining with them.

Ed Burkhart

The luncheon menu food was exquisite (scallops and sword fish), the service was excellent and the prices were fine.

Jack Jawork

Great Food. I recommend the raw bar. If you want lan on eating inside be ready to know in advance. You’ll need a reservation and nicer clothing.

Missy Schittler

One of our most favorite places to eat when visiting Cape May! I could just eat the bread they offer with your meals...they make their own and its FABULOUS!!! Prices are very reasonable!

Rafael Morales Jr

Staff is amazing! Food is fresh and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed 3 appetizers and 2 dinner entrees for under 100. We will be coming back everytime we are on the area. Only wish it wasn’t so dim inside the dinning room.

Shazia Khan

The food here is so fresh and delicious and the view is beautiful! You have to get the Lobster Bisque! It’s so creamy and buttery and overall AMAZING! I also had the Blue Cheese Salad, Broiled Full Lobster, and the Cheesecake which were all absolutely delicious. The staff is always courteous and helpful. Don’t forget the stop by the attached fish market to pick up some Smoked Salmon!

Robert Gallant

Food was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Great window views of all the boats in their slips.

Dhatrish Rajdev

It's a fine dining place so the prices are a bit on the high end but still reasonable compared to some other restaurants of the same stature in the vicinity. Food was fantastic - clam chowder was the highlight. Service was quick and wait time was minimal in comparison. It gets diners aplenty leaving little time for waiters to be friendly. If you can excuse that, you'll enjoy it.

Maria Moncada

Young waiter was not very efficient. He didn't check on table and misunderstood order. Calamari and shrimp were too chewy, obviously overcooked. Salmon and crab cakes were good. It's a seems to always be a 50/50 with this place the last few years.

michael davis

I been patronizing this place for years. Dining in, outside and seafood market. Last week we purchased the clam bake for 2 ( 2 whole lobsters, 18 of clams mussels and shrimp) unfortunately, some clams didn't open, mussels a little gritty and I think lobster was bad . we were able to salvage our dinner. I called just explain. The manager apologized and took care of us. Thank you

John Jackson

Ordered ahead from Take Out Shop, broiled seafood combo with lobster tails, off the charts good! Found seats on back deck and had a wonderful waterfront meal!

Christine Gerbehy

Place was PACKED. Waited almost an hour for a table. Lobster bisque delicious, so rich, fried calamari, steak perfectly cooked. But 2.5lb stuffed lobster came out wrapped in a linen napkin with refrigerator cold claws. Stuffing had no flavor. Added grilled veg and mash, mash was piped on a wooden plank and were loose, so they broiled flat to the wood. Couldn't eat them. For $60 entree I was hoping for better? Desserts were yum, and our server was absolutely awesome!

Don Gantt

We never pass up an opportunity to visit. Everything is incredible.. staff is beyond great. Thanks Guys! See you again soon

Joshua May

Like most reviews, this was possibly the best seafood we've ever had. Worth every penny! We also liked that you can walk the market while you wait, and when you get drinks from the bar, your can bring them in when your table is ready. We'll definitely be coming back here!

David Schierholz

We're tourists headed through town, but this was excellent. I don't know what's really fresh and what's Frozen from out of town, but I just couldn't tell.

Nina Rodick

We had 4 people in our party. Lady said it would be 35-45 minute wait. We ended up waiting an hour and 10 minutes to be seated. Prices are crazy. We ordered and our waitress came back 20 minutes later to say the ran out of the special and the prime rib. So two of us had to order something else.

Shawn Goodyear

Location location location. Small menu but food is decently & affordably priced. Was nice to see all the boats around us and a few of them that pulled up for dinner. Beautiful location & very relaxing.

Cathie Bales

Many options for eating. From the counter service, casual dining area, and dockside eatery overlooking the harbor. There is even fresh seafood to take home and cook. We had lunch and it was nice. The service was good. It is still the off season in late March and the crowd was growing for lunch, so I imagine this to be a very popular place when the tourists arrive.

Alexander Moore

I had the turtle soup and it was to die for. What a cozy spot. Excellent bar, excellent food. very clean and friendly environment
