Another wonderful experience. I lu e in this town so i go there often usually for raw fish.. this time i got fish and chips and my husband got a seafood kind of alfredo dish. They actually made it up for him. Fabulous! Both dishes were far better than expected! Thank you Seafood Gourmet!

OH MY GOD!!!!! Best seafood place in north jersey hands down everything is fresh and homemade I will with out a doubt be returning the franchises sauce is AMAZING only complaint I didn’t get shrimp but I’m still happy cause it was that good! The lobster bisque soup is to die for. The restaurant is super clean you can eat off the floors, there is NO fishy smell in the building at all. Top notch

MY NEW favorite place walk into what looks like a FISH MARKET everything is displayed beautifully & all fresh looking .. We asked to be seated or to take something delicious to go .. We sat in the back only about 15 tables tight in there but the food is SO FRESH I was so impressed with my dish of blackened swordfish with sautéed spinach & a small amount of veggies : I think it was a little skimpy on both side dishes honestly but whatever it was tasty. My lunch date got fried flounder which was two big pieces and coleslaw & the waitress was not the friendliest ..but she did have a bunch of tables by herself. I paid with my credit card & we left a generous tip anyway regardless of her non friendly personality m.Then I realized I didn’t have my CC with me so now I have another excuse to go there because WE called up and they have my CC in safe keeping for me .., thank goodness so I’ll be eating there Tomorow again lol .. I did take a halibut dinner to go for my husband he really enjoyed his meal highly recommend this hidden gem .. yum ! Only complaint is the bathroom was dirty and smelled gross so maybe an air freshener & a little love in there like a nice picture or something to brighten up the room would help just my opinion

I think this place is the best place to eat seafood in NJ. The price is reasonable for the quality of food. The portions are alright for 2 ppl. The service is fantastic. The only thing is making reservations in advance. The place is small and busy. I gotta wait for the table but deserves to have good food.

As can be expected, food is extremely fresh, staff friendly and helpful. We've been going either Friday or Saturday night for the past 6 weeks. Softshell Crabs are amazing any way you have them. Oysters and Clams on the half shell is how we begin. BYOB Can't be better, reservations needed.

Fish market in the front, an extremely small restaurant in the back. Great, fresh entrees with good portions. My favorite is the Lobster Bisque and their specials. Worth trying to get a table here.

A solid choice for seafood restaurant. It’s a literal hole in a wall. The place can only seat about 20 people at a time so don’t go without reservation. At one time we went with reservations and still had to wait 1.5 hours. I’ve never had a bad meal. All that I’ve tried were good. Service is attentive and friendly once you get to sit down. They also have great desserts.

First time here. There is no question that this place is good. For us, it was figuring out why it's good. Only 44 seats/11 tables, small,no fancy decoration, situated in the backroom of a fresh fish store, a hole in the wall. We didn't think even the food was fancy, no Michelin Star sauce, no exotic ingredients, no fancy dishes or utensils. We concluded it's a product of the freshest ingredients and a damn good home cooking. I believe it's intentional that their sauce runs on the bland side which allowed me to enjoy the freshness of the ingredients. Blue Point oysters were fresh, large and very good. Crab meat chowder really tasted like an Italian mom made it at home. Neptune Platter was steamed just right with soft calamari and delicious scallops. Whole grilled bronzini was again done just right, and I enjoyed the scampi sauce on the side. BYOB! Yeah!

A unique neighbourly place in which we could tell many of the costumers were regulars and femiliar with the staff. Fresh seafood, very reasonable prices, your wine or beer welcomed, delicious limoncello cake for desert ( they ran out of the amaretto ice cream) ...all in all - We enjoyed it and will be back when we fancy fish again.

What a delight this place is. You walk in the front door, and you're standing in front of a long refrigerated case full of the most delicious assortment of fish & seafood you've ever seen. Walk through this narrow room to the back, walk through the door into the restaurant portion of the venue, and treat yourself to the kind of meal you crave (if you're a seafood lover, like me) for amazingly affordable prices.

Small fresh fish market and restaurant tucked away in the heart of downtown Maywood across the street from the Pancake House. Really huge shrimp plus they carry all the most popular premium species of seafood. Their scrod is reasonably priced and delicious. Table seating is available in the totally separate restaurant located at the rear of the store. Prices are a bit premium, but then you get a bit higher grade of seafood. Tonight I had the Lobster bisque soup (best in a long time and actual lumps of lobster) and the Red Snapper & shrimp w/rice special. It came in a real light, but flavorful red sauce w/capers. Nice portion and it was excellent. It was Friday night and a full house. No tables open so they sqeezed me in to the only table in the store area. Good service. On street parking plus the municipal lot a short walk down and around the corner. Oh, forgot to mention. It's a BYOB restaurant. Suggest you make reservations, especially on Fridays..

I enjoyed the Manhattan clam chowder and the mixed seafood salad. There was dressing to put on the salad but I didn’t even have to put dressing on the salad because there was so much flavor already :) Everything was so fresh and delicious !!! The place is very cozy and quaint. The staff is so nice here and the restaurant is very clean. BYOB. Make reservations in advance.

Seriously, about the best seafood I have ever eaten, and that's saying something. There are very few tables, it's tucked behind a fish store. You ought to make reservations. Even with a reservation, we had to wait almost a half hour, but it was completely worth the wait. Four of us ate a ton of food for $130. Not bad for such great food. I'll definitely be back.

If you are hankering for Seafood without the drive to the Shore, this is your place. The lobster bisque is awesome, actually everything is very well made & super fresh. Don’t be misguided by its small & ordinary appearance, that is what makes it charming & helps produce tasteful fresh dishes. There is a display of local fish when you enter, Yet the place NEVER smells fishy! Yeah, it’s true! Judge for yourself, my husband is a very picky eater, But he is always up and ready to eat at Seafood Gourmet!

Great local family owned front seafood store with a very small restaurant in the back pumping out some delicious seafood dishes. I highly recommend reservations, or come in before lunch or right before dinner if you don't have reservations. Everything here is fresh, you can't go wrong with any dish and is BYOB. This place is a little on the pricey side but their portions are very generous.

I had the shrimp scallopini for lunch, and it was served and prepared as for dinner in a first class restaurant. The shrimp were plump, fresh, perfectly cooked and the pasta creamy and delicious. You would be hard pressed to find a better shrimp scallopini anywhere else!

Beautifully done fresh soft shell crab Francese and simply grilled swordfish. Impeccable friendly service. You MUST reserve or come in early here. 2nd visit reconfirms the 5 star rating given previously. Amazingly perfect grilled octopus appetizer, simply but perfectly executed with a fine evoo and lemon juice Mediterranean style dressing. Great blackened (seared) scallops, Cajun style Lovely fried fresh whole clams that evoked childhood trips to Martha's Vineyard and truly fresh seafood shacks on the beach. Highly recommend, will return. Great service too.

Wow! I have this say the food here is amazing! I ordered take out for my family. It was so delicious and fresh. We got lobster tails. We are lobster connoisseurs and we’re very pleased! It was cooked to perfection. We also got the shrimp. Wow they were huge. And the sea bass. It was flavored perfectly and cooked perfectly as well. Even the veggies were steamed to perfection and very fresh! You definitely got a regular customer.
