You will be able to see all the feddbacks of real people who consume the products of Gregory\'s (Fish Shop) in the area close to the state of New Jersey.
At present the firm gets a score of 4.1 over 5 and the score has been based on 387 reviews.
You must have seen that it reaches an opinions average is high, and it's founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Seafood restaurant.
Had fried calamari for an appetizer and crab stuffed flounder for an entree. Both excellent.
Food is amazing and service is great as well. Will always recommend the seafood market and restaurant to anyone and everyone in the area or Just passing through.
I came Into the restuarant today around early afternoon and I was sitting down eating and saw a manager that was a Male basically charged at this women who is an employee and was screaming at her in the front of the entire restaurant and was not being respectful to her or his guests. It made me and my family entirely uncomfortable. I will NEVER support a restuarant that will treat their employees like that. I would give it a zero star but I unfortunately dont have that option.
A little out of way & cozy place. I went thete befpre Christmas and it was decorated with all Christmas things. So cute. Moderate prices, seafood made to order & delicious.
IMO best seafood in Toms River area. For over 20 years have been going.
I love this place GREAT staff
Not as good as it sounds!!!
Although the food was delicious and we would love to come back, we won't be back! As a pregnant woman, I was appalled by the owner approaching the table next to us asking them to leave because their little boy was randomly screaming to say hi. Mind you he wasn't crying or consistently screaming. Just saying hi, being a kid. He was under one and we got to speak to the family who where all so sweet. At first when he approached the table, my party of 4 thought he was joking but we realized he wasn't. He told the table that we have customers in here and you need to control his screaming or you need to leave. The family never even got their meal but took it to go. Eileen our waitress was great. She was so personable and gave us time to order. I was going to recommend my family and be back but after that I won't be back. How can a mom control their young child? They can't- how offensive. For someone who claims to have so many children and grandchildren you should be appalled by your actions. Thank you for your service Eileen!
Awesome meal. Can't believe I've never been all these years!
I went there 3 times, It's a very mediocre place, small portions and prices higher then they should be. The sitting is cramped and the service so so.
Fresh seafood dine in or take out. Pretty good prices, definitely not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Best is at Christmas we can get our eels and baccala here and it's perfect!!
No e family owned restaurant.
Love this restaurant food was delicious.
Usually good service but unfortunately tonite waited 1 hour and 15 minutes and never got our meal....had to leave because had tickets to a show......we'll be back though, fish is excellent....must have just been an off night....
Very slow service. Crowded quarters. Food just so-so.
Great food. It's a "bring your own" beer/wine, so be sure to stop at the liquor store walking distance from the restaurant before you go. Only a few tables in-doors but well worth the wait. Outdoors seating is available in the spring/summer months.
Great services and food
The seafood is so fresh and the staff is very friendly.
Best seafood the Martland crab cakes are amazing...
I was very disappointed about the whole experience. The waitress getting are drinks was completely rude and unprofessional honestly think she should be fired. We just gave are drink order and she rolled her eyes as we were deciding. Then the price of the food was outrageous. The food was not good at all and they gave us such a small portion. Honestly was a waste of money and will not be going back there.
The sevice was excellent. Waitress was very corgal, polite & accommodating unfortunately it was all down hill after that. Baked potato was raw the stuffed shrimp were full of of bread crumbs, couldn't find the crab ???? For stuffed shrimp they were very small I expect at least 16 - 20s or under 16. Don't know what changed since the last time we were there but definitely not a good experience. Responding to the cashier's "how was everything " very disappointing from our previous visit , she was gracious to take 5% off our $86 check, unbelievable. Good luck with your meal
I love this place. Food is excellent. Maybe pricey, but you get what you pay for. Everything is fresh and they have a great selection. Plenty of good specials and great crab and clam soups. They also make there own bread pudding. You can't go wrong eating here.
Super bland across the board. They put raw garlic in my pasta dish and it tasted horrible, I couldn’t even finish it. They are not willing to change anything for your order, you have to have it the way it is on the menu or not at all which is the most ridiculous thing ever, I’m still dumbfounded by it. Then on top of that, it’s pretty pricey. I’ll pay there prices if there food was actually good, but for what they’re cooking they charge an obscene amount. Better off going to ShopRite and buying frozen stuff, may taste better too. Honestly the only good thing I can say about them is the servers were super nice and very on top of everything. I won’t be returning here again unless they completely turn the place around. Sorry for the harsh review but this is my third time coming here and it’s always the same.
Awesome seafood, had the scallops and mussels marinara for an appetizer dad had the salmon and shared the mussels the new England and Manhattan chowder both very good, will be back and highly recommended to seafood lovers, a bit expensive though, service could be a little more attentive.
Great Food. Great Service. Great Music!
Clam chowder - the best! Crusted salmon, not so much, fried
Quality fish at appropriate prices.
The food was good (I'd have given it 4 stars), but unfortunately the service was unbearably slow. We were there well over an hour for some steamed and fried seafood. We noticed problems at other tables, too. While the restaurant was somewhat busy, it didn't warrant the extreme back-up in the kitchen. The prices were also a bit steep, for what you get. Compared to say, Point Lobster Co., the lobster prices were really, really high.
This place is amazing and its BYOB
I give Gregory s 5 stars. That was a delicious dinner and great atmosphere. Yum yum yum.
Awesome visit as always. Every time we come we are treated as family. Sturgeon special with asian flair was a treat. Pan seared scallops never disappoint. Start with super sweet steamers!
Very well done.
Fresh seafood without a trip to the shore.
Another amazing meal...and now they have outdoor seating!! One of my local seafood favorites around!!
Expensive average food. Good friendly service. I'm not dying to go back
Seafood was super fresh and prepared perfect. Prices were a bit high.
Best fresh seafood in the area. Busy the whole time. I will be back!!!
Absolute trash... lobster rolls are absurdly overpriced as well as the rest of the menu. When asked about why my $20+ lobster roll was so short on meat and overpriced since were on the shore and that places in point pleasant have triple the meat for cheaper and the owner says “they have a fresh boat that gets it so it’s cheaper” idk really know what to say about this statement. Restaurant is mediocre as well as the staff/owner.
Never had a problem, clams super good, all the seafood is of the highest quality. If your down that way on 37 an looking for good seafood definitely stop in....
for some reason my family has always loved this place, but i never have. my most recent experience however, made all in my family dislike this place as much as i do. when we got to gregory’s, their outdoor patio, the one nice draw to the somewhat rundown restaurant, was closed. we had to sit inside, which was crowded and uncomfortable. i ordered new england clam chowder and broiled shrimp with a baked potato. the clam chowder was very good, i will say. however, my $24 shrimp dish came with 6 flavorless dried out shrimp. i would think that $24 worth of shrimp would have at least 8-10. my potato was also undercooked. i do not enjoy this place, never have, and will not return.
I eaten at Gregory's for over 20 years I love it there
Overcharged for 2 appetizers. 5 fried pathetic clams cost 12.99 yet menu says 7.99. Owner should learn humility and customer service, as he's not the only seafood restaurant in town. Unsatisfied customer kept unsatisfied is the worst advertising to have. Beware of the over seasoned scungilli salad, garlic makes it inedible. Complete waste of time and money. Fits right in with the Manchester "trash" attitude. I'm sure the calamari from a bait shop is far superior!
It doesn't look like much from the outside. It really is a fish market with restaurant seating. But what it lacks in ambiance, it makes up in taste. I enjoyed a plentiful serving of fish and chip. The lobster bisque was excellent. The waitress was attentive. Because of the limited seating, I go in non-peak hours to avoid a wait.
Great red snapper! Others enjoyed their scallops and the fish platter was throughly enjoyed.
Order fish fried in a beer batter. It was more beer batter not even an ounce of fish. I would not go back or recommend. You get a fish sandwich at McDonald's is better.
Good food, good pieces
Purchased seafood prices reasonably and seafood always fresh
Food was amazing I would give that five stars. The only reason why I'm not giving a 5-star review is because the waitress is not very kind she needs to smile a little bit more considering you're paying $70 for three meals.
I'm from New Hampshire and he has some of the best seafood in the area of ocean county N.J.
Excellent seafood store and restaurant. The food was great. You have to go there if you haven't already...
Took my wife for a seafood dinner. Both our meals were very dry and no taste. Thank goodness for the Coleslaw. It took a long time to get our dinner. They said the cook was backed up. We will not be going back.
Cool selections. Im from New york state and cant get the fish we could get at this place at home. Pretty cool.
They have the best fish and are so helpful.
GREAT fresh seafood, pricey but worth it.
Great seafood, I only wish they would sell and cook blue claw crabs!!
It saddens me to say this at this time but a great restaurant is not as great as it was
Seafood market with some sitting. Fresh seafood, very good coleslaw
Just finished a bowl of the meaty crab soup, sadly disappointed! When I paid almost $10 I was excited because I thought that meant it would be full of crab meat especially given its title. What I got was a bowl of old bay vegetable soup with flecks of crab meat floating in it. I only finished the bowl hoping there would be a jackpot of meat at the bottom...nope. Very disappointed.
I would’ve given 5 stars but Bought some clams and I know the clams I received were little necks and not middlenecks. Plus I was looking for Top necks and they have there Topnecks as cherry stones. Why I do not understand. I know my seafood very well. Plus a little high in price. But I have to say it seemed everything was fresh which is great. That alone is awesome. Just wish they would label there clams correctly
5 Star
The best seafood.
Went with our family, a party of six and everyone walked away asking when we were going back. Every dinner was fantastic even for the landlubber in the group. The steamed clams appetizer was excellent. Each clam was sweet and prepared perfectly. Flounder, crab cakes, garlic shrimp, chicken parmesan and salmon were enjoyed perfectly for dinner. The deserts topped off a fantastic experience. It was our second visit and there will be more in the near future.
How good does a place have to be to get recommended by a competitor who was not serving lunch. The soup and crab cakes I had for lunch were terrific. The place is a seafood market as well as a restaurant.
Really good food
Greg has this place ship shape
Quaint and delicious... always delicious
Excellent, great food and wonderful staff.
Very nice people
Always outstanding! Steamed clams followed by broiled seafood combination. Almost forgot to say how great the Manhattan Clam chowder is, so the Clam Chowder is a must to start your dinner or lunch.
Fantastic fresh seafood. Great service. Fair price
The food is always fresh and inexpensive. Gregory and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Stopped in for a quiet lunch with my wife. Looked forward to a lobster salad sandwich, some steamers, and some calamari. After an hour of waiting for our food, we left. I can’t see how our food couldn’t have been prepared and served within 20 minutes! There were other customers equally as dissatisfied as we were. We heard good things about this place, and this was our first visit. I can be sure that it would happen again if we ever went back. We won’t be back. If there was an option for zero stars, I would have chosen it.
Fish fresh and great, not fancy but good food, great service n byob
When the stuffed flounder was served; it disappeared like magic....the best♡
Food may be good but called to check closing time and was told "last seating at 8:30 we close at 9pm." When we arrived at 8:31 due to a stop light. We were told "we are closed". We called because our drive was 40 min away and wanted to make sure we didn't waste the time to get there. I am sure i wil not go out of my way to go there any time.
Excellent food but very pricy.
Very clean and quality seafood. The inside is small but comfortable, with a "classic" feel. In my opinion the menu is geared toward dinner, but pricing is fair for quality fish.
Saved me on new years eve. Seafood salad was good.
Amazing food, great atmosphere, awesome service.
Everything was fresh and fantastic. Some of the best service we have ever had. And even the sides were fantastic as well. Some of the freshest seafood we ever had.
Seafood is fresh, but the owner is always screaming at his personnel!
Awesome! Specials are fantastic!
First time heard great things good food .service Horrible. Food looked like it was dumped on plate. And they only took 7.55 off our bill never coming back
Great seafood
Best place for a real seafood dinner. Always fresh and made when you order. Thanks
Very fresh seafood, very high standards from the fish monger and family. We go no where else for fresh seafood. Do yourself A favor and visit Gregory's once, you will never go anywhere else
The food is exceptionally great and I would have given it five stars for the food alone but the waitresses are not so good. They don’t come back to give you refills on your drinks or check to see if you need anything else. I only give one star for the waitress service and that’s why there’s a total of three stars for this restaurant
Food is awesome, family owned and operated, great place to eat. B.Y.O.B.
Gregory's Seafood Restaurant is quite a pleasant surprise! Located on Route 37 west, it offers entrees and appetizers one would expect on the boardwalk. Their appetizers are yummy- ranging from raw clams to giant shrimp cocktail to super seafood entrees. Their sea scallops are out of this world! Dang, it was all great. If you haven't been, stop by Gregory's at 2061 Route 37. You won't regret it!
Its ok
Great service, family oriented. Yummy seafood.
Best seafood in town
Been going here since the day they opened! I get both prepared meals and retail. The best, freshest fish and seafood in the area. Price is so worth it. I can no longer buy seafood at a grocery store, yes it’s cheaper, but doesn’t come close to the quality at Gregories. They have the best, sweetest scallops I ever had. I love their fried shrimp, PDCs, and shrimp salad! Flounder, salmon, and cod are delicious too. And occasionally I can afford some of the frozen goodies to take home, like crab legs (aka little baseball bats) and the most delicious lobster tails! Everyone is very pleasant. I’ve only had good experiences! Very nice family business. Greg and family: You’re doing a great job! I’m one of your regulars (Teri) , don’t know what I’d eat without you!
Moved to the area about 9 months ago and decided to give this little place a try because it looked like something I would have seen years ago in New England. Glad I stopped in! Fresh fish, clams, muscles, you name it - to cook at home. Cozy little place it is, each meal I have ordered has been consistently fresh an well prepared. Dinner menu is larger and has something for everyone. Traditional items with the choice of broiled, fried and often times pan seared preparation. Old favorite such as seafood fradiablo are also on the menu. Bring your own bottle, too!!!! It is not fancy, the prices are "fresh seafood" prices - and you get FRESH every time! The staff is always helpful and usually very busy. If you have ever judged a place by the constantly full parking lot - you would stop in to check out Gregory's.
Prior to a year ago this was a place for us to go for seafood. Their Maryland crab cakes were always delicious but have gotten so expensive for the portion size (tonights price was $44.99 2 small scoops). With that being said, my last 3 visit I've opted for something else. First, was the stuffed flounder (all stuffing ) horrible. Then I tried stuffed shrimp, the shrimp tasted like bleach..horrible! Tonight I tried fish and chips, my husband always orders and brags about! Not tonight!! The plate came to table, looked like a kids portion with french fries white like (unfried white)! We have never sent food back so we started eating, fish was barely warm extremely wet ( like eating slim). Our fault should have sent back...but just will never go back!! Cheaper to drive to Maryland or Rhode Island for quality seafood. Extremely disappointed
Awesome food , stay and eat cooked perfect, or fresh to go cook at home.
It was very good
Best seafood and shell fish in Ocean County. The store is immaculately clean, has lots of staff, privides dining on premises, plus the availability several take out items. Yes it is pricey, but the quality is worth the extra price. Today there were samples of smoked trout that may become a weekly special; I fervently hope so as it was delicious. I recommend a visit to see the variety and to experience a truly great fishmonger.
Very helpful and polite. Also loved the political incorrectness sign lmao!!!
If you like mediocre seafood you could get at a diner, with a side of the owner's narrow political views plastered all over the walls, then maybe this is the place for you. We did not enjoy our overcooked, bland meal and will not return.
Yummy always a great place to stop at to get fresh fish.
The nest seafood around
Food was ehh paid $95 and they forgot the mashed potatoes
Food was good but too expensive
Cool little fresh fish market, with a couple of tables in the dining room. St flounder was really tasty, fresh. Will be back soon.
Freshly made seafood by a family run business, very patriotic and not afraid to show it, nice to see not everyone has to be politically correct
Excellent experience . Scallops and Jumbo Shrimp Broiled for my Birthday Lunch .
Outstanding, so fresh, we loved it! Tiny place but big flavors!
Good fresh sea seafood
Experience was terrible. Salad was old. Scallops, shrimp and flounder were so dry. Waited a long time for food. Waitress said the cook was backed up. Won't go back.
I had never been there before but I heard that it had great food. It was my parents 50th anniversary and I decided to take them there with the kids. I was told it was a small place so I called ahead, even though they don’t take reservations they agreed to set up a table for us. The place is nothing fancy, but I don’t care about that as long as the food is good. Staff was friendly but not great. The food Took quite a while to come out. The stuffed flounder was mostly bread and stuffing. The shrimp were somewhat dry. I understand that good, fresh seafood is expensive, but the price was very high for the quality. My parents didn’t particularly like it and neither did I. Probably won’t go back.
My family and I have had meals there before. I have always rated this restaurant five stars. But after my last visit, I will never be returning. There comes a time when you must retire and get out of the business, sir, your time has come. A local.
The Very Best seafood in the area!
My grandmother used to order from this place constantly when I was growing up in Pine Lake Park. (A suburb in Manchester Township, New Jersey) They always served the food fresh and hot and everything tasted extremely well. Unfortunately, as I got older, I started noticing things. I know seafood comes with a price but this should never happen to somebody. I went here the other day for dinner with my girlfriend and she order two flounder fillets. I asked if I could have a bite since it looked pretty good and she gave me a piece. When I picked it up, there was a parasite inside of the fish moving around. When the owner came over to talk to us, he was not very nice and told my girlfriend, straight to her face, in front of me, that “it happens and you just got the bad fish”. Like, excuse me? I never once heard of a parasite being in a COOKED fish. She got flustered and wanted a full refund of the dish she ordered. All of these “privileged white elderly people” were staring at us the whole time making BOTH of us extremely uncomfortable. Will NEVER order from this place again nor will we ever come back. I’m sorry but if you are a name of a business, be polite and respect the customer. It’s simple. I don’t know why common sense is down the drain these days but it’s sickening to see up front and in person.
With only about 8 tables and two wait staff I don't know how the service could have been so painfully slow. I'm talking about 15min to even get to the first 'hello' at our table. The Shrimp and Garlic was mostly garlic and pasta and when I asked what ingredient would make the sauce brown the reply was 'i don't know'. The hefty price does is not supported by the service nor the quality of the food.
Excellent seafood and a very patriotic, and military friendly owner!
Freshest fish and seafood ever! Great family business with exceptional customer service.
Food is excellent and worth the xtra money but atmosphere is lacking badly.
Good food but way over priced. For their prices I would like table clothes, good utensil, lighting and NO fish smell in the dibbibg room. It has the appearance that it belongs on a dock on the bay.
Wasn't bad, got the fried flounder, was better when I was a kid
Pricey but good as always
Freshest seafood money can buy. Have gone here every Friday night for salmon to bring home and cook for the last 7 years and have never been disappointed. Will be there tomorrow!
Everything I've ever ordered was fantastic.
Went for dinner with my son. It was this past Saturday night around 8pm. Was busy no doubt. Waitress very nice and apologetic about how long to get our dinners 1:15 mins to get our food that’s ridiculous!!! Sat outside along with a couple other tables complaining about the other waitress she didn’t come back to take dinner orders she gets away with her service to her tables she related to the owner! I always had a problem with the amount of food you get for price my son had crab legs 4 cut maybe 5 inch legs that’s an appetizer size. 2 appetizers 2 dinners and 2 sodas. 140 plus tip!! Not for the amount of food you get and sitting on the highway to eat it. Do yourself a favor find another place to go. We will not be back.
Freaking amazing.
WAY too much preaching going on! Signs all over, as in handwritten signs, like bathroom graffiti, but penned by the owner. Complaining about youth, the French, Mexicans or immigrants in general, signs about his religious beliefs, I can go on. HUGE turn off. In all fairness, the food is good, although on the pricey side. The crock of "English onion soup" was good, the freedom fries were ok. Fresh seafood is iced well and all looks good. The restaurant furniture is out of date. Service was sufficient.
Always fresh seafood, frendly staff. Never dissatisfied.
Great seafood
Food was very good! Small casual place but food was great!
We have been dining at Gregory's since 2009, freshest seafood n town.
Their not nice and wait is long. Food is good .place is dirty.
Nice Christian restaurant pleasant service and great food
Awesome food! Lots of great specials. The mussels and toasted garlic bread are to die for. Very friendly staff!
Love love Gregory's.Best fresh seafood ever the atmosphere is great they do not sell liquor but you can bring your own bottle or beer oh wine they also have a fresh fish section where you can purchase and take home I definitely recommend this place it's clean and the service is that good if I had 10 Stars I would give ten you should definitely go check it out
Family business and fresh seafood nice cozy place to eat. Reasonable priced
Food was incredibly good as was the service and atmosphere. AAA+++ Rating
Outstanding Non descript small place What it lacks in ambience it more than makes up in quality of food
Tasty food and large portions, when you are in south Jersey
Cozy, simple and delicious. Nice variety of fresh seafood. Will be back!
Horrible and expensive. I ordered either cod or flounder but was served tilapia. Service is spotty.
fantastic food and clean and great service
Food is always good.
Terrible lobster pot pie. All crust and very little in the center. Spent nearly 70$ on food at this establishment and went to get a refund on the pot pie and was told there was nothing wrong with it. Horrible customer service and there are many other far better seafood markets in town.
Fabulous, fresh seafood! Great variety of fish and shell fish! A wonderful menu, served in an informal setting, promptly by friendly staff and owner. BYOB.
Fish is always fresh n delisious, whether it's a meal or fresh cold shellfish. Staff is very friendly n helpful w suggestions on the food. Try it you won't be disappointed
Have been here three times the past 15 years, never once had good fish. Their cod is like old rubber, or plastic. i had the fish and chips, it was simply awful i cud not eat it. i still paid 20 bux for the bowl of soup and the mashed potatoes that they still charged me for, despite that it was returned almost intact with the plastic fish included. Dislike.
If you like fish this is the place to go always fresh service is always excellent
Fresh, fresh, fresh seafood. I visit Gregory's when I want fresh seafood to cook at home. When I dine at Gregory's I can always taste how excellent everything is seasoned and cooked. My compliments to the staff as well, great casual atmosphere. The people that state differently must not have taste buds. Gregory's offers a flavor that that is traditional, and has great depth of flavor. If you're going for dinner try to get there before 530 as it is usually packed in peak summer months.
Food top notch, some wait staff not very friendly at all.
In my opinion, best Seafood in Jersey.
Over the top quality eats & fresh market goods!! Owner is engaging to help w/selections !!
Great food... local atmosphere. Nothing fancy. Just good
Although hard to get a seat at this very small, 8 table/booth restaurant, the food is simply amazing. The seafood is fresh and excellently prepared. One of our go to spots but if you arrive any later than 4:45 you will have to wait...but SOOO worth it!
Great place an great friendly staff my Finacee Brian works here an he loves it!!! We wont go anywhere else to get our seafood everything is wonderful am fresh an great prices!!!!!!
I've been here a few times with my proffessional mover buddy as a guest an must say this place blows away any other seafood restaurant I have ever visited .
Good food, great service.
Good food
