This Fish Shop belongs to the category of Seafood market.
Fresh, red tile fish, clams and scallops to make my Korean seafood stew.
Great seafood spot. The oysters were really good.
Stayed in Brooklyn for the evening a couple months ago and had a craving for seafood so my girlfriend and I stumbled into this place. Some of the best oysters we've ever had. Great clean, comfortable, and casual atmosphere. The staff were friendly and went well out of their way to talk about the local music scene and find a great show for the evening. I'll definitely be back next time I'm through. Thanks guys!
I've never eaten here, but I've purchased very tasty salmon from their retail section. The staff was very helpful in selecting our fish and even de-boned it while we waited!
This place is my idea of heaven. Awesome oysters at great prices that are even better if you are taking some home. Knowledgeable and laid back staff give the place a relaxed feel that makes you want to come back over and over.
Fresh and friendly
It's pricey, but the quality is great, staff is always friendly and everything on the menu is quite attractive. Just note that they don't have that many tables and if you come with a large party, you may have to sit at the bar. Also, you should try the biscuits!
God bless this place. By far my favorite restaurant in Greenpoint. Love the vibe, the staff and the freshest fish in Brooklyn at such a competitive price.
It’s too bright to enjoy a meal. Having said that the seafood is fresh if you want to pickup and go
A little overpriced and the Lobster roll was good but not great. The real stars were one of the specials of the day, a soft shell crab sandwich and the fish stew. I also took the waitress' advice and added some Louisiana hot sauce to the stew - yum! Great idea!
Good as a restaurant but great as a fish market. They don't have a massive selection but that's the point. What they have is super fresh and often local. In 20+ trips only once was the fish not great.
Good service, comfortable atmosphere, but very low quality food!
An awesome small restaurant with a nice everyday happy hour and the best fish tacos I ever tried
Excellent! Came midday midweek and sat right down at the bar. The Spindrift oysters are
Wonderfully fresh fish available to eat in or take home to prepare your own way.
The service is what let this rating down- granted it was a long weekend but the waiter to customer ratio was completely off. The seafood here is out of control good though. We had blue fish pate and could've smashed about 3 in one sitting.... AMAZING!!
By far the best seafood spot in Greenpoint. I love the vibe. The food is fresh. The menu options are unique, innovative and constantly changing. It's kind of like a tapas bar. I would compare it to Cal Pep in Barcelona. Definitely worth trying. I recently had the watermelon gazpacho with mussels -very tasty. The skewers and fish tacos are my favorites. The service is great.
Had a fantastic experience in here with my son. The food comes out quick and the service is just fantastic. Prices are convenient.
Raw bar is a must. Bathroom maps will indicate that. Stupid delicious and great on a typical summer day even though the place is hot too. Kitchen feels like a sauna.
Fantastic fish, great service and wonderful happy hour oysters!
Didn't realize fish and chips was an appetizer ☹️
Fresh fresh fresh
This is one of my fave Greenpoint restaurants! Nothing like raw scallops - yum!!! Brunch was pretty special and it was soft shell crab season.
Great food. Tiny tiny tiny dishes
Hands down, the freshest seafood you can get in the neighborhood. Whether you're dining there or buying fish to take out, the seafood is always changing seasonally and they offer an interesting variety sometimes. Like Char, Sea Robin, Porgies.... The staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable too.
Good place to have a quick bite and buy fresh seafood
Delicious fish/rice bowl
This place is amazing! Great oyster selection, great appetizers and entrees are awesome. Get the fish tacos or fish and chips. You can't go wrong here.
I love their happy hour and oysters.
Charming casual bar/restaurant with very fresh seafood, thanks to the onsite fishmongers. Service was a bit disinterested and didn't know much about the wines...the beer cocktail was refreshing though, and there are some wholesome options (kelp noodle salad, rice bowl) if you don't want the more filling fare like fish and chips or lobster roll...
Freeeeesh Fish and Seafood at competitive prizes. Buzzing and popular. Efficient service. Never disappoints.
Very good but too expensive.
Amazing Oysters! Best fish restaurant in Brooklyn!
I came all the way from Long Island believing I was getting a great deal on oysters. Their website said they had $1oysters, but when I got there I was immediately told by the waitress that the oysters were $1.50.I could have stayed in Long Island. The fish was ok. I ordered a slice of the key lime pie, which was ridiculously small for $8. I don't plan to return to Greenpoint anytime soon.
Great little spot to try an assortment of freshly shucked oysters and a craft beer. Not to mention a delicious Lobster roll.
Excellent shrimp cocktail and french fries.
Whenever I want to chow down on fresh seafood, I hit this place up. Get the whole fried fish!
Fresh tasty seafood, portions a little small, clean & attentive staff
This is the best seafood in NYC. So reasonable and their commitment to sustainable fishing is awesome.
This place was awesome. There was a wait but it was worth it, the smoked mussels are so delicious and juicy as well as the toasted sourdough bread that it is served with is delicious. The smoked bluefish pate is also a dish worth trying out, it is like a tuna mix that comes with their toasted bread and it was also very good. The lobster roll with the fries were awesome, I think I loved the fries more than roll but only because their fries genuinely taste different from others I have had but the lobster roll definitely should be ordered because it will not disappoint you. The service was great, the server made it a point to get to the table as soon as possible, poured our water, bussed as we ate and the plates kept coming, I will definitely go here again.
0mfgg ... that is oh my fish greenpoint god... Ug2bkm awesome .. go 4 happy hour to get some value. Luv ys
Excellent seafood, but overpriced. Small, and crowded in the evenings, this half-counter, half-sit-down railroad restaurant serves tasty dishes and oysters. Everything I ate was incredibly fresh and delicious and my waitress was a warm, friendly, cherubic woman. I got to see some training going on over to the side, and that was enjoyable as well-the employees seem content, if a little scattered. My single gripe is that for what amounts to, two small tacos, 5 pieces of sashimi, 6 oysters, and a piece of pie, my dinner was close to $80, which even for the area, is a bit high. I've gotten a much better deal at the Mermaid Inn Oyster Bar in the city, with comparable food choices.
This place is exactly what it sets out to be - an amazing seafood counter and fish market with the freshest selection, knowledgeable staff and the simplest and best preparation clean seafood can be. Wish I had a fish market and counter like this in my neighborhood.
So so soooooo good !
Great food. Terrible service.... hopefully it was just an off day. The food really was fantastic.
"what's the per pound price for lobster?" "$20" "Really? When is it in season?" "It's always in season." Enough said.
Super tasty!
the lobster roll is delicious! everything is fresh, high quality, and well prepared.
Hands down best quality seafood selection. Great staff, awesome atmoshepre... don't forget about the key lime pie!
Great happy hour oysters and good service
Freshness abounds, at quite reasonable prices and in a friendly and fun atmosphere (I love counter service places like this). You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, though I have to say I prefer most items, especially the fish sandwich, to the lobster roll. The happy hour is nice and looong--from 2p to 6p, making late afternoon the best time to visit.
The best lobster roll I ever had. Staff is super on point. Very nice place to eat. Will go back.
Fresh seafood, good food, excellent service, not really kid friendly.
This place was the best oysters l have had in a long time
Delicious
Surprisingly good! Fresh seafood and great selection. Staff was very pro and down to earth at the same time
Greenpoint Fish and Lobster Co is a decently good American seafood restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The ambiance is simple and clean, and the service was friendly and somewhat efficient. The food was all okay to good. The oysters were solidly good. They had only minimal bits of broken shell, and were delicious. They even had a great west coast oyster- and I typically don’t enjoy the minerally taste of west coast oysters. That was a recommendation of our server, so thanks to her for that. The fish chowder needed some salt, but was also simple and delicious. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the Maine-style lobster roll. I lived in Boston for about four years and so just got super spoiled by amazing lobster rolls up there. The one served here is small in size, and bland in flavor. It is admittedly of good quality ingredients from what I can tell, but just needed salt/seasoning/butter- something to give it flavor. Again, it was okay, but isn’t a lobster roll I’d return for. All in all though, the food is good overall and it’s a place I’d recommend and will return to.
Great happy hour prices on oysters and wine
Too pricey for me!
My favorite neighborhood spot. Always fresh, sustainably sourced seafood. Amazing raw bar. Simple yet flavorful options. Great for catching up with a friend or eating alone and chatting with the friendly staff. Seafood market has fantastic options to take home to cook.
Oyster happy hour! Great staff and crew.
Best fresh fish in Greenpoint
Great Lord in heaven was this meal transcendent. The chowder is so delicious, it's like an edible version of being in a warm bed on a cold day. The oysters were fresher than the prince of Bel-Air. The brussel sprouts were "why didn't I think of this?!" Levels of great. Even the bread was delicious! 5 stars, can not recommend enough. Bring your friend who doesn't want to commit to vegetarianism but still wants to feel special so they tell you they're pescetarian because it's a fancy word to say.
I've been here so much with friends who visit and there's no doubt it's a good restaurant - the cooking is great, with an eye on sustainability, and everything is very fresh. It is less fancy than it seems by the 'oyster' label - feels more like a cafe than a restaurant, in a good way. But... I've been pleasantly AND unpleasantly surprised by some of the food, especially specials, a number of times. They are sporadically expensive for the portions, and often not what you expect when they arrive. The staff are always gushing about every meal... so before you order look at what everyone else has and make sure it's what you think it is! It's fancy-fish-101, but just because something is $30 and something else is $15, it doesn't mean the $30 item is going be a good main course. Come here and pretend you didn't see the prices and just order what you like the look of and you'll have a way better time. As a fishmonger it is not cheap, but what can you compare it to apart from Whole Foods? Good fresh fish is a rare thing in Greenpoint. You get what you pay for... really high quality, tasty, sustainable, fresh fish, in the middle of Greenpoint, and open late - I think it's worth it if it matters to you. Oh yeah, the Michelada is great!
Best oysters OF MY LIFE. Friendly and quick service — the host even poured us some vino as we waited for a table, which is always welcome. Lobster was total perfection, fries were great, key lime pie was also among the best I’ve had. Prices are more than fair for the quality and deliciousness, & perfect service. This place is the real deal, GO THERE.
This is a really special place. Incredible seafood in an unpretentious setting. Would eat here once a week.
Good deals on happy hour 2-6pm. Nice ambience, friendly staff. Enjoyed a laid back hour there with a dozen oysters and a couple of drinks.
What a place! Maria, Ben & Peter are so lovely!! And the food is so fresh and great!
The interior and waiters were good. But food is over priced. We came in for dinner, but left after ordering appetizer. This restaurant needs to train chefs and cooks. It was disgusting to see this female chef is texting/using her phone on chopping board, touching food without washing her hands after. Also cooks were not using gloves, and touching fish. NOT RECOMMEND!!!
When eating fish in a seafood store you know it can’t get any fresher. Service is on point as well.
Fixed menu with rotating daily fresh fish
A rare gem of quality seafood place in Greenpoint. Fishmonger in the front, oyster shucker in the middle and a full seafood kitchen in the back. Great, fresh food all over. Bar seating for 20-25 people, daily rotating menu with a very good selection of raw or correctly cooked items. Will be frequenting this place.
Everything about my visit was positive. Justin was our server - he was experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. I also want to shout out the woman who was cooking (we sat at the bar). She was so focused and detailed - moving from the fryer, to the flat top and the plating station. I’ve never seen anyone move in the kitchen like that and I previously worked in service for 10+ years. The food was fresh and flavorful. Spring for the oysters. Fish tacos were out of this world (fried). And don’t skip the key lime pie. Can not wait to go back!
The best seafood I've had in all of NYC and Brooklyn!! The lobster roll was amazing and so was my 2 pound steamed lobster. The oysters were also delicious and the service was great. Thanks, Greenpoint Fish and Lobster! We'll be back!
Fresh market, great food & nice happy hour deals!
Can get a bit pricey but that's not surprising with seafood. I love the grilled fish tacos and the beach plum oysters when they have them.
Cute spot. Killer seafood. Had amazing oysters and mackarel that tasted like it jumped out of the water straight onto my plate.
I am yet to sit down and eat, but I buy all my fish here. It’s always fresh and the service is unbeatable. You will never have a bone in any of your fillets. The staff are all very knowledgeable as well. One day, I’ll actually sit down and eat, it always look delicious on other peoples plates.
Amazing lobster rolls
On the downside service somewhat high-handed and overbearing. Grilled fish tacos were excellent and delightful crisp white Hungarian wine to wash those babies down with. (Good recco from the server)
Overrated. Poor service. Everything takes forever to get served. They say Market Price fir a Lobster Roll, which means they will charge you $28 when you pay. Twice the price as anywhere else in the city. And the roll is really bland, with 10 soggy fries to go with it. It's a place trying to be hip but charge you trust fund prices. Avoid it and you'll be glad you saved your money rather than spending it on bland food that takes 8 people a half hour to get to you.
Totally fresh seafood. I was visiting so my friend brought me there, saying it is the only place he will buy, not even Whole Foods where he had bad experiences. We bought: clams, 1.5 pound lobster, oysters and scallops but they had a brought variety of ocean fish also. One thing to know is that they have a happy hour-discount on fish! And with shellfish, if you are shucking/they are selling you direct- there is a discount.
Great place. Been here multiple times. Always a good experience
Delicious food.
Everything I've ever order there has been delicious. The crudo is especially ace.
Great fresh fish. Their salmon is amazing!
Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. Stopped by for happy hour for a great deal for oysters and beer/wine. I had a mix of West and East coast. Maybe I'm East coast bias, but thought they were better. Pilsner I had was also very good. Also had the crudo, lobster roll, and chowder. As a true born and raised New Englander I take my chowder VERY seriously and this is possibly the best I've ever had. Only wish they had a bread bowl! Same with the lobster roll. I've had many lobster rolls all over New England and this was amazing. Crudo was also comparable with the finest restaurants I have visited. This place knows how to let the fresh seafood be the star of the dish. Highly recommend this place to any true seafood lover. I plan to take home at least a dozen scallops to have at home and to eat some fresh tuna like it were a hand fruit.
Go for happy hour if you want good deals on local oysters and craft beers.
Yes! we frequent this place. With the exception of a few mishaps i.e forgotten drinks, a couple times too busy to give us appropriate service - usually we are always thrilled with everything. Lately it has been spot on. Oyster season is a must. Thank you all!
Delicious, but not inexpensive. Happy hour deals are great.
I think that this place is great for a quick happy hour, but honestly prices are way too high for what you get. I also didn’t like the service so much, we came in a group of 5 and they wouldn’t really accommodate us in the original seats we chose. “First come, first serve”, that’s what they told us. Overall, I don’t understand why this place has such a high rating.
Oyster happy hour is Great! Nice fresh oysters and always great service.
The mussels in a thai coconut curry were outstanding. Split them with your dining partner, along with some fish tacos and raw oysters.
Great selection of fish in the area and a nice sit down place for a bite. Oysters are my fav here the and staff are knowledge about all different types. Wanted give 5 stars, but a bit pricey.
Fresh oysters! But little over priced foods
Very good seafood and lobster
Maybe fine if you want an easy to deal with piece of fish for your butter sautéed Sole fillet. Came here hoping to get fresh fish for a Chinese dish and was disappointed by how inflexible and patronizing the staff was and their limited selection. They don't sell carcasses or heads, which is pretty normal, but when I tried to buy a whole fish and have them filet it, so I could also have the carcass, they told me it wouldn't make a good broth, without having a clue as to what I am trying to make. Poor customer service. Not coming back.
My favorite spot for the best oysters!! Fish tacos are a must and drinks are on point. There is a limited selection on cocktails but lots of beer. You can't go wrong here, everything is SO good!!
Great little spot. Really good food. Nice and quite. Will go back again for sure
Great service and amazing expertise! Will never get tuna from a sushi joint ever again after having the fresh tuna from you guys.
The seafood is good, but the portions and preparation is a little disappointing. One of the best parts of a scallop includes the side muscles and row. When I asked for this to be prepared, the parts should have been thoroughly washed of sand and grit before pan frying. In part, it was my fault for asking and conversely the side muscle should not have been served if the cook has never prepared it before.
Good pizza and crunchy crust.
both the fish shop and restaurant are fantastic. they consistently have an amazing selection of fresh seafood. i particularly like their great selection of New England oysters.
The food itself is decent but I've found it to be a bit overpriced for their serving sizes. The Fish Sandwich and the Rice Bowl both only serve you about 4 oz. of fish and both come with ~20 dollar price tags. (3 dollar upcharge for FRIES with your sandwich) Also disappointed in the lack of methods of fish preparation for dishes. Not allowed to choose between blackened/fried/seared and such is kind of disappointing coming from a fresh fish-market. The oysters were very fresh but they range from 3-4 dollars PER oyster and they are very small. (Non Happy-Hour pricing) Drinks will run you around 7 dollars for a middle of the road beer which is fine. There is limited seating as it doubles as a fish market as well as a restaurant. The staff are nice and friendly though and it's cool that they have a rotating menu based on the market. I'd just say that they need to reduce their pricing on their entrees by about 4 dollars an item and they would be a lot more popular.
The best fish market ever! Suuuuper delicious:)
I ordered the gluten free bowl and it was ok, a little tasteless. The fries were great also the wine recommendation were very good
Best
Absolute favorite for seafood. Their fish tacos are the best! Great staff who look after you! Every time a must go while in NYC
Great little spot. It's small but the food is good. They have $1 oysters and clams and $5 beers during the week 2pm to 6pm.
Amazing food, second time here for happy hour. Oysters are amazing, lobster roll is fantastic. More lobster than anything else. Fish and chips are delish, super crispy but soft, perfectly cooked and the tartar sauce is second to none!!! 10/10
Good quality
High prices and very limited seating. Aside from that, the food is good and fresh and staff is nice.
Best oyster happy hour in town. Quality selection, they know how to shuck 'em. Other plates very tasty, crudos, mussels, crispy rice, all excellent. Nice staff, small and unassuming place. Definitely for seafood lovers.
The seafood here is really fresh and amazing. You can get raw fresh seafood here as well as sit down and enjoy a good meal. There're always different specials to choose from as well as many merchandise you can buy to take home or buy as gifts.
Very fresh seafood
The place is ok. The seafood is fresh, but lacks taste.
This place is awesome. The food is delicious and the service is very good. It's small, but it makes it cozy! Certainly going back!
Solid lobster rolls (they do CT style if you ask). Excellent wine list.
Great spot, really fun open kitchen, delicious and fresh seafood. Oyster selection is fabulous
Really, really, really good seafood food, decent price, and nice ambiance. Kudos to the server: he turned around a 'rough' reaction he had with us at the beginning, and made sure the rest of the experience was SO good and genuine, that we ended up being very pleased with him. Someone give him a raise: he acknowledged his error, and fixed it beautifully. Will be back!
Fresh oyster and seafood.
The best seafood eating experience one could ask for! Fresh everything, friendly staff and flowing Rosé on tap! Not the largest space but the experience of being able to chat about what goodies are coming your way as it is being prepared is quite a bonus! I will be back!
Great place. Excellent seafood and great service
Small, just few tables, place with incredible sea-food. Cozy, tasty and quite cheap i would say. Would be lucky if you can get a spot here.
Always pleased at the food & service.
Bottom line they are the best in the biz.
Great food! Always fresh
The fish is great the amount of it seems a rip off and also the place was little dirty :/
This fish market/restaurant offers lots of options on the menu. However, don't leave this place without ordering the fish and chips. The best anywhere. Just not, seating is small party or singles only.
Small nook selling fresh catch — I was too early for their lobster roll, so got the fish & chips instead, the fish was white sea bass and really meaty. Chowder cup was tasty and full of fresh chunks of fish. Would love to come back again for the lobster roll.
Amazing brunch. Make plans to come here. They have the best fish. Very thoughtful about sourcing clean sustainable fish. Super friendly staff. Nice music playing during brunch.
Everything on point, especially the lobster rolls!
Wow! Eight different oysters to sample. Chowder...amazing.
Delicious good, great service!
Everything is so good, not a fan of the music they play, but that's just me.
This place is great! Probably the best raw bar in the city, and their dishes from the kitchen are delicious and often creative. It’s a little pricy, you you definitely get what you pay for. There is bar seating and a few tables - not a huge place inside. Going with a party larger than 3 or 4 could get a little uncomfortable. You can also buy fresh, raw seafood up front. I’ve never done it, but I can only imagine that the quality is top notch. I recommend taking advantage of their happy hour for reduced beer and oyster prices. Greenpoint Fish & Lobster never disappoints. It is always worth the trek.
I bought stinky cod with worms. I called them and person speaking with me offered refund. I went back and they refunded the money without any issues. I do understand that worms exist especially on white fish but when you see worms on the fish you don't sell it to customers.
Service and food were fantastic. I'll definitely be back.
Amazing service, I would stick to the crudo
Fresh seafood!
Everything was amazing, and super fresh! Get the brussels sprouts on the side
Great seafood, very fresh and tasty. The place is small but the service was first class. We will go back again soon.
Expensive. The food, staff, and wine are good, but the prices have climbed rapidly in the past couple of years making this spot prohibitively expensive. Also, be sure to read the fine print on the menu when ordering. A $16 fish sandwich seems normal for the area (somehow), until you realize the austere side salad or half handful of fries costs an extra $4.
Amazingly fresh oysters and seafood are what these guys get right everytime. Consistently delivers a wide global variety of oysters (Pacific and Atlantic), clams, crab and more - anytime they have soft shell crab I opt for that (most recently atop a gazpacho!)
A great place to pick up fresh fish to cook at home. It's always high quality and tastes delicious. The staff is also very helpful.
Lobster rolls are perfect, light and meaty in a delicously buttered brioche bun!!!
Oysters were clean and delicious! The lobster roll was good too. Would come back for the rosé and oysters on happy hour.
Doooopppeeee! Key lime pie and endless coffeeee!
We had brunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looks like a great place to buy fish and gorge on oysters. What struck me was how nice the staff was. We'll be back! The second time we came I liked it even more than the first. The clam chowder is spot-on not heavy and thick, but with a great stock, really well made. We love the eggs Greenpoint and the fried oyster steamed buns. We'll be back. My only complaint is that the place is not big enough. I'd like to come back with a big group
Best lobster in the neighborhood!
Food is good. Teenage punk rock played loud, not so much... nothing against the music, just not a good match for wine and oysters. My 2 cents.
The place was very cozy and chill. The oyster were very good best I've had by far . The Thai kabobs , fish of the day was monk, were amazing , and the fish tacos were also amazing. The fish was fried. Our waiter , Nick was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The lobster was also good cooked perfectly! I wasn't a fan of the collard small plate dish. Overall the place was great!
Fresh and tasety..
Incredible food. Fresh, delicious, amazing preparation.
I enjoyed my time there. The food was great and mostly accurate to the menu. I had the lobster roll but didn't realise I'd receive ketchup and dry coleslaw as part of it. The staff seemed a bit more skewed to genuinely caring vs looking busy.
I never used it to my adventage so it was like i was always in the middle
