Finally! A local fish market with impeccably fresh fish and the name of the boat that brought it in! Nice variety -- diver scallops, oysters, clams, swordfish, the salmon is farmed but organic and from Norway. Cat fish -- can't find that anywhere else around here. Engaging, helpful proprietor and assistants. Across the street from Joppa and the Newburyport farmers' market. What a pleasant Sunday morning destination. Yes!

Brought home some scallops and haddock from this new fish market on my way back to Maine. I liked that Fred (the owner) not only sells seafood but is concerned enough that it's cooked correctly so you can appreciate the quality of his product. No worries here, my wife cooked both to perfection! And as promised, top shelf quality. This will be a regular stop from now on. Excellent!

Had high hopes and still will give it a few more chances. First time there we got the sword fish which was excellent. Second time got “fresh” scallops- they were absolutely disgusting. I love scallops but before you even took them out of the package it smelled like they had been sitting there for over a week or two. Third time got sword fish and halibut- sword fish was extremely fishy and tasted old but the halibut was excellent. It’s a bummer that things are inconsistent!

Finally a local seafood market that easily rivals my favorite fish market in Portland, Maine. No more arduous rides North! Gorgeous fish. Big choice of shellfish. A local oyster "Sommelier!" Attention oyster lovers--this is definitely your place to go to enjoy the familiar, and yet discover many new kinds! Best of all, the owners are obviously passionate about impeccably sourced seafood and fish. Definitely fish locavores! They are happy and qualified to answer any questions. This purveyor is absolutely hands on and personally knowledgeable about all that crosses their threshold. I recently considered moving north to Maine, but as long as Newburyport Fish is here, I'm staying! I am so not kidding.
