REVIEWS OF Pets R Us IN Nebraska

Jessie Jenkins

This negative review is mainly reflect of the horrifically customer service experience that I had in the PetsRUs store that houses the grooming salon. I ultimately canceled the appointment and walked out. When I walked in and asked where the groomer was, the clerk (possibly the owner?) stared at me rudely like I was speaking a foreign language. Apparently she was incredulous that I had an afternoon appointment (I did) as they usually just do mornings. Even if was there without appointment, why not just explain and facilitate rather than giving stink eye? Then she snapped at me to "not let her get back there!" referring to my golden retriever who was fully restrained on a 6 foot leash (with three feet of slack!) and calmly sniffing the check out counter essentially where you would stand to check out. I responded that I was not "letting her get back there", we were both just existing in a well trafficked, public area of the store while we tried to figure out where to go. Cue some aggressive barking and snarling from some territorial (though cute!) dogs from behind the counter. My dog began to shake and cower with her legs between her legs before we even entered to grooming area. It was only then that the cashier tried to greet my dog or offer any kind words. I just had to leave. I'm all about bringing your dog to work, however if that territorial they should be kept in an enclosed area +/- signs warning to give wide berth. This would reduce the stress levels for all parties. Rated 2 rather than 1 star for the warm service when speaking directly to the groomer by phone. She fit me in for last minute appointment on a busy day. With the overwhelmingly negative reviews of Petsrus online, it is incredible the business is still operational. As one reviewer said "who sells puppies anymore?". No need to support a business that profits on puppy mills AND straight up mean to customers to boot.

I didn’t like the overall fell of the place. Dogs felt very cramped and the bottom of their boxes/kennels had no carpet or anything for their paw pads. Another thing is in some of the dog kennels their were multiple dogs and had manure laying in it. This is not sanitary for these puppies. Overall, because of these I think that this is a puppy mill.

Les Schmidt

Very helpful and just a fun place to visit.

Rick Lopez

I like this pet store the customer service is good cleanliness is good looks as though they really care about their pets I think their prices are just a little bit too high for everything this is the only flaw that I see

Sherita Partee

Awesome place I'll be getting my 2 new birds here.

My family has been going here for many years. We personally know the person who takes care of the customer’s dogs overnight. She is very kind and she tries to give as many of the dogs a bath as she can. I always enjoy looking at the animals, but I do not agree with how they are kept. For one, the dogs are kept in a very small cage, they do switch out the puppies every few hours or so, but that is still too small of a space for one dog let alone 2-3. That is one of the things I really wish they could change. I also understand that there isn’t much that they can do. They have a limited amount of space. So, they should move stores. Second, the bird that has been there for years. He is in bad health. I do not think he is for sale either. He is very stressed out and a little depressed. He needs to be cared for a lot better. I wish I could take him home to care for him, but that’s not the case. The reptiles there are in okay sized enclosures for the most part. Not all of them are but some are in okay temporary enclosures. I also do not like how they just have the tops open of all the hamsters and rabbits. I find that immature. I saw a review on here with a picture of a hamster that had sadly passed recently after purchase. That hamster, along with all the others, are terrified. They don’t get handled correctly enough. They are very skiddish and they bite. This is most likely due to unknowing children squeezing them. I wish that they would simply cover those cages up. Also, the cats. They are kept in a ferret cage. I know it’s bigger than one, but it’s the same situation as the dogs, they have no space. This store should be getting a lot of money from the puppy sales. I think it should be in their right mind to move to a location that is bigger. This is so they can give the dogs, cats, and every other animal, the best chance they can. I do understand getting the puppies from a puppy mill. It’s cheap and you can get a lot. I do NOT agree with puppy mills, but I can understand from a business standpoint. Regardless, I think this business has potential. Much like any business, they can improve. I hope that they do.

1000.00 for a puppy mill puppy?!?!! Adopt!

Krista Johnston

First off the place smells terrible. I was planning on buying a dog here. I wasn't impressed at all. I looked almost everyday and when I found the one I wanted, I couldn't find anyone to help me. They were rude to me. Wouldn't let me see the dog that I wanted to buy. I won't be coming back here.

Dan

This place offers breeds that you don't see in shelters, but at 10x the cost. I understand they are a business and I love visiting, but go to the humane society and rescue your pet.

Sandra Marsey

All the supplies needed.for new pup

Belinda Joyce

I feel bad for the dogs stuck in those little areas even the cats have better area to be in the birds fight each other and have gotten 6 hamsters from there and they are all dead from wet tail.

vaya laya

They have horibal care of most of thair animals the beirdie had been missing half of its tail and the birds if you want one to fly sorry but no the dogs were shivering stepping in there own poo and we're not in a place with hols small confinement for all of the animals and they had there maskot pulling his wings off of his body

Maresa Seward

This place needs to be shut down ASAP!! I saw Horrible horrible horrible things. The staff at this facility are the worst! They don’t care for any of the animals. puppies are skin and bones with no food and water in their kennels. Poor bird plucking its feathers off because it’s in such distress. ZERO STARS!!!

Rebecca Morro

I would give this less than one star if I had the chance. There was expired pet food on shelves for full price! All animals are living in horrible conditions! Dogs live on grated shelves without and blankets or toys (they had Gatorade bottles). No visible water, did look like they had the water feeders. Dogs looked very unhealthy and some had skin loss. Staff didn't want to tell where the dogs came from. Please do not buy any animal from here! Do your research and understand where the dogs come from! I can't believe they are still in business. Worst store ever

rockelle walker

I take my conures here to get there toe nails clipped. I no longer get there wings clipped but I have in the past as well. Good customer service.

Lillyan Cullinane

This so called "pet store" was is terrible condition. There was balls of dust and hair on the ground and a terrible smell. Don't even get me started on the dogs, they were all just skin and bones. when I asked to look at one of the dogs, the lady at the front area( I think it was the owner) , I was looked up and down and the lady said, "sorry, they just ate," with a rude tone. I went to the back were the dogs were and a very nice young lady asked if I would like to get out a dog, and of course I said yes. It was barely five minutes and the lady from the front came and took the dog away and said " so you asked another person," or something like that in a very rude and loud tone. I simply told her that I was interested in this dog and rolled her eyes and said "ya, right" after that I walk out of the store and will never go back there again. this all happened in front of my grandparents who were serious about getting the dog, which I couldn't do given the fact that im 15 ,but my grandparents and I have never been treated with more disrespect then we were given in there.

Frank Palombo

Great

Tammy AbuShawish

Owners are very helpful and knowledgeable. Please people get the facts before you talk bad about people and ruin their reputations. Rex, the cockatoo with plucked feathered, is a rescue they have adopted. Yes, The puppy’s all have water. Look at the silver stems in all the cages. It keeps the water clean.

Nicole yamlmjj

The best place for pets!

Ashley Wingert

This is a great locally owned pet store. They have a very close relationship with the vet clinic across the street, who checks the health of all puppies and kittens before they are put for sale. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the helpful staff. They also offer lots of advice on house training and bringing home your new pup. Highly recommend for quality animals.

anna bendon

I think that the prices were a bit high for my budget but, the animals needed to be spread out more.

Janette Morrissey

Felt the kennels for the puppies could be bigger

Makenna Gemar

This store is terrible, animals in terrible condition, cages littered with feathers and feces, birds with missing feathers, and don't even get me started on the dogs. Tiny cages where I saw one eating its own poop, no water in sight, dogs with white fur turned yellow from laying in their own urine. Talked to an employee and told her where I worked and was insulted. Do not buy from this store.

Randy Thomson

Went with friend to pick up cat good.

Todd Lewis

What a great store.People are just liers sometimes. As I read through some of these reviews I’m appalled at the nerve of idiots with an agenda. I have spent countless hours in this wonderful pet store including Time when the “inspectors were there” and listen to them tell the staff how well there pets are cared for as well as how clean it is . The have a full time staff dedicated to cleaning up after the puppies. It just show the leaves of concer the owner has for the well being of his, soon to be your animals. There is a lot of hubbub around this industry and the care of animals and it is refreshing to see a store dedicated to getting well cared for issue free animals to people who will take great care of them. Not only is there cirrent well-being a priority but also there future wellbeing, by making sure they get great loving homes .Thanks for bringing integrity back to the pet store industry pets r us.

Evie Lake

So many cute dogs here. The birds and all the little animals are cuties.

Jennifer Mertz

I bought my Doxie there in 2012. The staff was so helpful! They answered any questions that I had. They have their animals vet checked BEFORE they are even brought out and are available for purchase. Their pets for sale are very well taken care of and the staff is very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this store to others!

c Weis

There are better stores for the same or better prices.

Emily Cederstrand

Starved animals. The dogs dont even have a stable ground to stand on let alone beds for relief.

Janette Loyselle

THEY ARE STARVING THE PUPPIES! they have been reported! pray these animals are saved soon, if I could provide for them I would adopt them all. Conditions of the animals in this disgusting place brought me to tears.

Dogs Rule

You know it's bad when a facility is investigated by the Humane Society due to complaints. It's embarrassing and sad to see how animals are treated in this store. They are sickly and malnourished. The store is trying to make a profit while the puppies have to walk on wire in their sad little enclosures that are not even clean. Don't fall for this cruelty.

SammyJames

Great store, great selection, only bad thing is the puppies are on plastic covered metal bars, looks uncomfy. And no toys to stimulate them. Other than that great staff and store.

Scott Slump

Very helpful with my daughter's rabbit purchase. Answering all my questions.

Jessica Santone

Best products at the lowest prices.

cande8086

Purchased a hamster from this store a couple years ago before I had found a local breeder. The poor thing went downhill very fast and had to be put down after only 3 months. I went back there recently and looked in the hamster cage out of curiosity and they all look so sickly. Some of them had eye infections and possible wet tail. It is clear that the people who work here are not knowledgeable or simply do not care. VERY SAD.

Tarek Noriega

Great guys that take care of your pets as if they are their own!

Darren Berg

Pets R Us saved my koi pond! I have had my pond for 18 years now, and all of my fish are 10-18 years old. The fish mysteriously started dying, one-by-one. I almost had a heart attack! I went to Rockbrook Village, asked Dave for help, and explained my predicament. He analyzed my water and supplied me with the necessary products and knowledge to save my fish. Without Pets R Us, I would have an 18 year-old hole in the ground.

Alyssa Fey

This so called “pet store” has my stomach in knots. Birds are pretty much completely featherless, puppies with no food, water, toys or even a blanket to lay on over top of the hard, grated floor. All the dogs are so malnourished and skinny, tails always between their legs in fear. This place needs to be shut down immediately and everyone working there should be heavily fined/jailed for animal abuse. Absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking ...

Zach Jordan

Dogs are cared for... all dogs look healthy none are malnourished know the owners very well and I know he cares for every animal there.. and the bird without feathers is adopted by them he wasn’t wanted anymore so be thankful the actually have hearts for all these animals... they have water spouts and they feed them twice a day. STOP SPREADING LIES!

Tatumn Mcandrews

The people here are rude and the dogs and animals are kept in places where they cant even be happy. The dogs have no choice but to roll around in their own poop.

Christine Petersen

Cute pets, variety

N Norton

Prices are high. Puppies behind glass in kennels. A baby bunny was $100! Ridiculous!

Cassie Martin

I can believe this place is still open. Dogs in tiny boxes rolling in poop, even large breeds. No food, no water. Yes, I saw their water bottles empty smashed and they became the puppies only toys. An employee said they have no being our toys bc they can choke, and they smell awful bc they get into their poop it happens to all dogs. Hmmmm... I've been to pet smart our petco when they have puppies. They have food, water, breeds, and toys but whatever. When you buy from puppy mills I guess you don't care anyway. Way over priced $1000 for a huskie that was about 3-4 months old. Birds feathers were missing, bird poop everywhere. Two bball pythons were curled up in their water bowl. That's a huge sign they are sick or have mites. Don't buy puppies there, you're buying straight from a puppy mill!

NEO geek

It's an okay Place definitely don't treat the animals as well as you would want them to but it's a pet store it's their job they don't really care I'm sure I tried desperately to buy racks but they still refuse to sell

Kimberly Collins

Love it depends on who is working

Liza T

Dave was really helpful and patient with us while we made a decision on adding a blue quaker parrot to our family. We appreciate all of the advice and information!

Critical Duty

These animals are in very bad condition. Someone needs to shut this place down asap. No animal should starve.

Kali

Hamster died a day after I bought him

Dana Nelson

Dogs way over priced

Trent Mason

Awesome store! Enjoyed very much meeting the owner, Dave. He is exceedingly knowledgeable and super friendly. He gave me great advice relative to my dog and I'm very happy with the treats he recommended. Butcher's Prime: made with Nebraska beef and without all the crazy fillers and ingredients! I am so happy to have found this cool store!!!!

I have never written a bad review even on places where I was not satisfied, but this place is disturbing. If you don't believe me...go look for yourself! How is this place still in business? First time in this store was yesterday...open the door and the "dog pound" smell smacks you in the face(even though the dogs are clear in the back of the store). From the outside and the area, I was under the impression this would be a decent place. Uh no. When we walked in, NO hello NO welcome to the store. I didn't know who even worked there! How can a store have birds with no perch and nothing to play with? A bunny and a guinea pig are together in one cage??? How do you have a Great Dane puppy in an enclosed space that is 3 feet wide and maybe 3 feet high....IF THAT SHE COULDN'T STAND UP ALL THE WAY! These "spaces" do not even have floors! It's like a chain plastic bottom so the poop and pee fall into a pan. None of the dogs have a blanket to even lay on and no toy for comfort. These cheap and obviously uncaring bastards threw one plastic bottle in each of the dog cages!!!! IT'S A PET STORE!!!!!.YOU CAN'T SPARE A 5.00 TOY AND A LITTLE BED FOR EACH DOG!!!!!?????. YOU ARE CHEAP AND MONEY HUNGRY!!! I MEAN THEY'RE BRINGING YOU $900-$1400 IF THEY GET RESCUED! That is all any dog had...A PLASTIC BOTTLE TO CHEW ON AND AN EMPTY DISH.. All of the dogs were licking and biting their empty bowls . THE DOGS DO NOT HAVE WATER DISHES! THEY GIVE THEM ALL WATER BOTTLES!!!!... LIKE WHAT GUINEA PIGS DRINK OUT OF! ****THE LARGE BREED DOGS INCLUDED****HOW DOES A 25+ POUND GREAT DANE PUP DRINK FROM A FRIKKIN GUINEA PIG WATER BOTTLE!!!!!!!!??????? I was in tears in this store. There was a puppy screaming bloody murder behind a closed door in the back. I looked at the prices and they are asking 1400.00 for a mix breed puppy! I wish the humane society would go get every one of those babies and shut this filthy place down! Fyi- healthy puppies are playful, not lethargic. Your heart will break in this place. The only woman I saw speaking was trying to sell dog food and the other was semi speaking to a couple adopting a dog... or rather RESCUING a dog from this hell hole. The Dane puppy's hip bones were sticking out so badly...I mean FEED AND WATER YOUR PETS MAN! If I wasn't so in shock I would've taken pics! This is just a gross business with people who obviously do not care for the animals. They got smart though and rented a building in a fancy plaza to make customers assume this place is trust-worthy and upscale. Yeah...walk in this place and you'll be appalled. Sad...very sad...

Stephanie Henderson

The kids loved it here.

Very nice pet store with friendly people.

Pets R Us is guilty of sourcing their puppies from some of the worst puppy mills in the entire country. Many of the puppy mills they are buying from have been named the worst puppy mills in the country due to their conditions and violations. All of these breeders have been traced through government health documents. Please do not support the puppy mill industry by purchasing a puppy from Pets R Us. For more information google "Nebraska Pet Store / Puppy Mill Connection"

Game Zone

Their birds are stressed out. if you want to save them buy them but they are overpriced so you can't afford them.

Little Y

They staff was pretty friendly and it was nice to be able to play with the animals but other than that this place is sad. All the cats litter boxes needed cleaned(two days ago), the poor puppies had nothing soft to lay on and nothing to eat or drink. All the other cages had dirty water. The big white bird was missing a ton of feathers and looked so unhealthy. Lastly, three dogs behind the counter were tied to small leashes on the wall with choke collars on.

Ann Blaker

This is a friendly pet store with polite staff. They have a wide array of bird and small animal products including food, treats and toys. They also sell many birds, usually smaller ones, but they have variety. Also sold are a variety of small pets that vary upon the trip here. I've encountered rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, Guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils.....as well as various small lizards, turtles, spiders and a small selection of fish. Occasionally they have a few kittens "up for adoption." (I'm not sure where these cats come from and what the "for adoption" mention actually means, considering they're in a pet store.) In the back of the store they have what I consider an old style set up with a wall of glass/clear front small cages containing puppies. Again, I do not know where these puppies have come from......I just generally disagree with the sale of dogs/cats in this manner. All animals here seem to be overpriced from what I can tell. I only come here to purchase food for my small animals, as I'd rather patronize a local business than a large chain pet store.

Scott Durrie

Honestly the worst pet store in Omaha, possibly even the state. That's not an exaggeration. Think of a run down gas station with dusty shelves and product that you would not want to ingest or think of a hoarders basement. The animals living conditions are awful. The only reason I would ever consider buying from here would be to save one of their overpriced animals from suffering. Edit: Just like the company they ripped their name from, it’s only a matter of time before they’re gone.

Jaci Tackett

We purchased two dogs from Pets R Us, the first a very happy and healthy male dachshund and the second a very happy and healthy female cocker spaniel. If you are looking to buy from a pet store as opposed to a breeder, this is the best place in the Omaha, Council Bluffs area! They do require you to purchase the food the dog is currently being fed, and it is more expensive than the food we now feed our dogs. However, I haven't experienced any problems switching the dogs over to regular food after the first month or so. Definitely recommend this place!

Tithe Proven

Got a good dog at a good price. Gave a free vet visit with the dog, and I took him to my own vet not long after. Healthy as can be. The dog is over a year old and never had a problem with him. I would get a dog from here again.

Robin Sullivan

We love our Pomsky and the great service at this store.

Nice place

I recently adopted a kitten from a kitty foster mom that had all ages of fur babies on display at Pets R Us, similar to how Petsmart or Petco have foster or shelter kitties that are available for adoption in store. I’m soon leaving for school and had been searching for a while for the perfect companion to live with me. I had volunteered for years for an entirely volunteer run cat shelter during undergrad, so I was very skeptical before I spoke with the Pets R Us staff and Sandi, the foster mom for some of the cats and kittens. I guess the kitten I adopted was saved from a breeder that was shut down due to poor practices, so all the kittens in his litter came in with fleas. Sandi and the Pets R Us staff were VERY diligent in bathing the kittens, giving them the appropriate doses of flea medicine, and following up with several types of deworming medicine to protect against the risks associated with fleas. They also test every cat for FIV and leukemia, which I greatly appreciate after working with FIV and leukemia kitties for years. All of the Pets R Us staff knew each kitty’s personality and it was clear how much they love the animals that are in their care. I had so many questions through the entire process and the staff knew each answer, or they got in contact with Sandi to provide the answer. They will ask that you purchase the same food, litter, and litter pan that they use in store, which was something I was going to do anyways as I know how important this step is when bringing home a new companion. This is NOT something they do to try to get more money from you. It’s a huge comfort and digestive health measure, so this was another step they take that reassured me. The adoption fee was not cheap (ie a $40 or free adoption special at NHS), but it in all reality it was a bargain after seeing all the veterinary care that they provided. I believe Sandi fosters the cats in her own home before they’re big enough to relocate to Pets R Us. They provide every step of veterinary care before you take your furry companion home, including spay/neuter, an array of any needed shots, or any medicine that is needed while under their care. They also microchip each cat and provide you with a year of service with the company, which saves the adopter at least $70. It IS worth it and Pets R Us, Sandi, and other fosterers working with the store have provided me with my best friend. He’s in my arms sleeping as I type this and we’re both so thankful for the passion and care of the fosterers and Pets R Us staff.

John Larrick

The rumors are definitely true, this store is essentially a puppy mill. Dogs were way overpriced. The birds seemed to be in terrible conditions as well, as they were kept in acrylic cages to sit on the ground. They completely overstocked the finches they have, and not to mention there was what appeared to be quail on the bottom of the cage covered in feces and left to walk on the barred cage. Don't get me started on the reptiles.

Kassie Ferrin

Pet R Us has now deleted multiple comments from concerned pet owners and rescue groups in Omaha, NE on Facebook because they want to hide the fact that they are a horrible business that supports puppy mills and poor breeders, not rescue groups as they claim. Do NOT buy anything from them. Do NOT support puppy mills!!

Cheryl Palu

I bought my Peek a Poo here. And adore her. She was feed well and was in good health. She did need her ears cleaned out and trimmed up when we looked at her. She does have the hyper extension in the knees, but that is known to happen in small breeds of her type , my Vet said. It's nice to know there is still some small pet stores that are around.

Kristian Mensching

Place is a dump should be shut down. Dogs there look half dead. Animals look miserable. Staff is disrespectful.

Darcy Herrin

Feel bad for the animals but better than some. Bought a rat and it died less than 2 days later.

Lisa Holis

I went to buy Oxbow Hay, 2 bags. I waited, and waited, and waited. I don't think anyone was working there. I could have walked out with the bags and no one would ever have known. Saw the puppies there, geez, why do they sell dogs, go to the Humane Society and save a life. The place was a mess. Per other reviews, this is not a good place. I will not be back. I figured I would shop here at a mom and pop shop vs the internet/big box. Sorry, they will not get my business, which is a shame.

llynn76

Dogs come from puppy mills. ADOPT!

Cindy Sarmiento

stop selling dogs and buying them !! stop supporting puppy mills

Tammy Kroskey

I love cats and dogs

We adopted a puppy last year. The staff was very friendly. Their puppy class helped me learn about how to best help my little guy's anxiety around new people (he is a chihuahua). By the time class was over, he was a totally new dog! The staff was all very knowledgeable, and helpful every time I visit. My dog is completely healthy and happy, and a great member of the family. They are a little expensive, but I love supporting a local business. I never did get the papers on my dog, but that was not my main goal. I was looking for a new member of our family, and we got a sweet, happy, and healthy dog.

Jenna Levering

Staff was rude and avoided us, hiding in the back playing on the phone. She was annoyed when asked to take any puppy out as if it were a huge bother. The poor things deserve to have some time out of the tiny box they have them in. Cats aren't in anything better. I'm unimpressed with the conditions of the animals and the additudes of the staff. Prices are very high and from everything I've ever heard they sell mill puppies which mean the poor dogs that are being breed are probably in even poorer conditions.

Madilynn Franz

Ok listen cause I got stuff to say. Number 1, what the hell???? How do you live with yourself knowing that you have animals dying, while other animals, also on the verge of death, eating the bodies of the previously mentioned dead animals. Sorry I keep saying the word dead, I just want to make sure that it gets through the thick skulls of anybody who supports this horrid place. Ok, onto number 2, did I mention that the animals at this store are dying? It's not like these deaths are from some terrible disease that is incurable, no it's because these animals aren't being feed and are being treated like their lives aren't worth any sort of care. Problem number 3, the cages. The cages at the store are nowhere near habitable. Shoving multiple puppies in a cage that can barely fit one dog is not acceptable. How would you like to be put in a home in which you have no room to even stand or walk, because you're stuffed in with a bunch of other people. Don't forget, you get no food or water, also, there's a very slime chance that you'll be able to get out. Not only will you be left there to starve, but once you have died, who knows how long your body will be rotting in that home, hell, you'll probably get eaten by the others there. There are many other things wrong with this place, and I hope they'll get shut down as soon as possible.

Fresh Puppies

Saddest "pet store" I have ever seen. These poor animals. Place should be shut down.

Joey Heavican

I love this place but the workers could be a little more polite. ;)

My Animals68901

This place is disgusting I went here a couple times the 1st time there was hamsters that looked sick the 2nd time there was a guinea pig baby who was sick and was losing fur and there's more things there's this bird I think it's there pet but it barley has any feathers left and today I went to this sad to call petstore and the fishes water was gross and a baby guinea pig was dead and dissolving into its own bedding I would highly not recommend this petstore unless your ok with sick pets and high prices.

Anissa Franks

Nice pet store, But... Prices are high.. Rabbits are $99.... Ferrets $249... Hampsters $14.99...

Delaram R

I was shocked to see this place. Animals are in horrible horrible conditions. Why the hell Nebraska humane society hasn’t still shut down this place?!!!

Jeff Huber

Great full-service pet store; friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Hannah Kelley

This place should not be allowed to selling any living creature. Their animals live a sad life and no one should support this crock of a business.

Matt Murphy

Friendly staff, very helpful.

Anoushka P.A. Moir

Keeps it's animals in cruel and harsh conditions. Places ridiculous price tags on its puppies (3000!) But can't allow them to have a bed or a few toys to keep them entertained, instead they just have to lie on a metal floor. Absolutely shocking.

Captain Scribbles

Extremely dirty inside of the store. This place smelled awful when I entered the building and the floors were covered in petfood. The place has overpriced pets which would be okay except that the pets do not look healthy. There is a cockatoo inside of the building that is losing their feathers from disease. The pets do not appear happy or healthy in any fashion. The dogs in this establishment especially have it rough as they are forced to sleep on what is essentially a chain link fence without beds and only a water bowl to accompany them. The dogs even sleep inside of their water bowls in order to avoid the crappy conditions inside their tiny kennels. The dogs also are kept directly above their own fecal matter. These cages are also seldom if ever cleaned as there is clearly dried feces underneath the animals with a smell that extends beyond the cages. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. They are barely in line with the law if you look at their conditions and the way they keep and treat their animals is tantamount to animal cruelty. I even witnessed some of the employees tormenting some of the animals.

Debi Lynn

So sad for the animals . It

Jake Lars

Went in to look at birds, was planning to get my first Finch. When I asked the staff about the finches they gave me a blank stare and answered the questions as if I asked a different question. They just told me things that would turn me away, and exaggerated the negatives. I was met with a condescending attitude when I asked questions, and it was a very unpleasant experience. I'll be happily getting my birds from another establishment, one that answers my questions and can tell the females and the males apart. Also every bird in the cage had plucked out feathers, it is obvious that they are not getting the best care.

Jackie Villegas

Horrible place. Today the blocked there fb page so you can't see all the hundreds if one star reviews and negative comments on their animal abusive and neglect.

Eric Kerkhove

Excellent experience with the staff. Bought a Brussels Griffon here that experienced some minor problems with low blood sugars after taking him home. after getting frustrated with our vet, the staff here took Reese back and did a better job of getting him healthy again! Love this place and know they care about their animals

Avry Cummins

The older woman who works here is so mean. I’m 19 years old and i went into the store wanting to purchase a dog and I’m not sure if it was my age or what but she treated me like i was some teen coming in to just play with the puppies and put them back. I ended up purchasing a Beagle and when i took him to the doctor he had ear mites :( i was nervous when purchasing him because I’ve seen other reviews about Beagles having ear mites from Pets r Us and figured he’d be fine. Nope. Also not only did he have ear mites, he also had POOP inside of his ear. I had to shell out another $80 for medicine for the little guy because this store didn’t properly take care of him. He was also so incredibly skinny that within 6 days of having him he has gained weight. I’m just disappointed and I’m just glad i got him out of this place.

Grace Walsh

They had nice staff, but only 19 year olds could play with puppies. Some of the dogs looked sad and there was a bird that was so stressed out he was pulling out his feathers, he was almost bald. They also get their puppies from puppy mills and dog brokers. Dog brokers get their dogs from puppy mills. YOU SHOULD NOT GO, AND DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUISNESS.

brenda hoelzen

Whenever I go in the store, I feel that they truly appreciate of the pups they have and treat them well.

Caroline Smith

Its a good pet store. a little over priced but has a good selection of pets and brands. the staff is friendly and they let you touch the animals. The puppy cages could be a little nicer though. theres no bed or soft area for them to lay.

Zoe Dilly

this place is disgusting !! the animals are living in pure filth, in tiny cages where they can’t move well , on grated floors and mind you the cages go all the way to the ceiling so if an employee was going to open the cage (i doubt it because they’re rude) the puppies could fall out and hurt the animals!! they don’t have food nor water in sight. and for toys they have water bottles!! they have a white bird sitting out that is missing its feathers on its neck and chest from stress. it’s squeaks all the time out in pain. they have tiny cages in the middle of the store that they have a bunch of birds in and don’t some of the birds have clipped back ends so they can’t fly and they squeak!! this is the worst most disgusting place. the dogs are rolling in their own feces , the birds are sick , the cats look lethargic and mind you they have cats in a larger hamster cage!! the staff workers are rude and distasteful.

Sam Risney

Employees very helpful, animals seemed well taken care of

Lucy Gonzalez

Was dog shopping and asked to look at one of the puppies. The younger girl with glasses and dark hair told me unless I was buying one, then she wasn’t going to take them out in a very rude and condescending tone. How am I going to decide on which one I want without bonding with them first? Not the first bad experience here. The dogs are overly priced and malnourished. The food on the shelves is expired and that poor bird Rex looks unhealthy. Shut this place down.

Vicki Peterson

As long as they sell puppies, which come from commercial breeders, (think concentration camps for dogs) I won't even set foot in their store. Any pet store that sells puppies contributes to a great amount of suffering on the part of the parent dogs. All in the name of profit. These are the things they don't want you to know about. They may even deny it, but the fact is that 99% of all puppies sold in pet stores are products of puppy mills, many living in horrific conditions. If only Pets R Us would stop this practice and become advocates of humane treatment of animals, they could very well gain a lot of loyal customers.

Lany G

Great place go my dog there and they where very patient with us when we forgot our wallet and like two hours late would buy from them again if I needed another pet.

Tina Buller

They sold my sister and I a puppy that was 2,000 dollars and then told us right after that he had no papers that said he was 100% a husky. Then told us we can not return him and we should have asked about papers before we bought him

Andrea J

Pets seem very happy but staff is unfriendly! You can hold most of the animals and if there is a puppy that your interested in buying or playing with you can meet/play with the dog in one of their play pens! I would definitely recommend this place to any pet lover! :)

Ben Lawson

We bought a husky here the other day. Such a great dog! Is was good to see the papers detailing the vet visit the dog had upon arriving at the store. And we were given papers about the parents since this dog was a purebred. I do question whether or not they really do feed their dogs the most expensive food in the store. That's the bag they told us to buy claiming that all the dogs are feed this expensive bag of food upon arrival.

Lexie Garcia

NOT RECOMMENDED! Bought our puppy and never received papers. They claimed to have 'sent them' and when we called to ask for duplicates they informed us that its not their fault we didn't receive them and would have to pay a fee for the duplicates. After reading multiple reviews on the store I regret purchasing from here. Puppies are kept in small cages. Also puppies are said to be from a puppy mill, many people have complained about not getting papers. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. They do not know the definition of customer service. They argued with me over the phone for a half hour about not wanting to pay for duplicate papers. Any decent company would gladly comply to the customer but they are nothing but stuck up. They don't care about anything but making money and selling the dogs as fast as they can. TERRIBLE PLACE. WILL BE GOING FORWARD WITH A NEWSCAST ON THIS WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK.

Skylar Sprague

All of our experiences with this store are negative. We purchased a green cheek conure from here, and we were told he was the "Alvin" of his siblings, but he was very friendly and just a little more difficult to train. We have had him for 2 years now and we love him as much as all of our other pets, but we haven't been able to see the "very friendly" side of him. He seems to have been treated poorly as a baby and does not act like a normal gcc. We were looking at a breeder at the time as well and in hindsight, we should have paid the extra $100 to get the breeder's bird because she was genuinely interested in all of her baby birds' futures, while Pets R Us threw our bird at us without any information and left us to figure out how to best care for him on our own. They even said we should give him their most expensive brand of hard food with no real food in his diet! That is very unhealthy for birds and he was not healthy when we got him, which we did not know as new bird owners. We also have our bird's nails clipped here because it is cheap, but they make him bleed every time they do it. They don't seem very experienced at all, nor do they care. Aside from the bad bird experiences, we have seen VERY ILL hamsters in the cages on the floor!! When we brought it up to the owner one day, she simply said "we know, he is being treated by our vet!" when clearly, the hamster was breathing his very last breaths. The other hamsters would not go near him. At the very least, the hamster should have been quarantined to keep the other hamsters healthy, and prevent customers from having to see such a horrible thing. There was also a DEAD finch in the finch cage and no one did anything about it!!! The bird was not even "near dead", it was not breathing and looked to be dead for a while. The animals in this store are in very poor condition and I would not suggest shopping here, and ESPECIALLY do not buy any animals from here!

If I could I would give NO stars, I purchased a kitten there a week ago today (the kitten hadn't had her vaccinations either said we would have to bring the kitten back in to get those......wondering now if they were even going to do that) not realizing my daughter would be allergic. So I called them up to see if they had a return policy for something like that and first I spoke with a Kaitlyn and she said typically after a couple weeks they don't (ummm it was last weekend) she then passes me off to a Dave or David who says they have NEVER had a return policy on pets, then informs me to call on Monday and if they can get a cage for her then they can take her and try to find her a home (so you can get paid twice for the same kitten uh I think not!) I wouldn't have cared if they gave me a full refund if they would have just gave me a partial refund or something would have been nice but aside from all of that, you don't have to be so rude to your customers we spent over $300 in there that day and I will NEVER go back there again nor will I recommend the place to anyone!

I have brought my birds into the store to have their wings and nails trimmed. They did a great job. I’ve compared their prices to PetCo and was flabbergasted to find their prices were lower. I would rather support a local business. Their resident parrot Rex is not abused. As a longtime bird owner, I can clearly see this. He has plenty of toys, a sun-lamp, a lovely cage. He is very friendly and likes people. I scratched his head and rubbed his wings and belly the other day. An abused parrot would not be so receptive to human friendship and being touched. The owners dog has a digestive problem of some sort. The owner made a box to help aid in his digestion. I believe these are nice people and care about the welfare of animals. I hear them offer up ample advice and even discourage the purchase of animals that would not be a good fit for a family, e.g., a macaw parrot with a two year old (the dad really wanted one though! Sigh). Not a good fit for a child that small wanting to keep all of his fingers! People are quick to criticize this pet store due to Rex “the somewhat neurotic parrot”, that some stores would have gotten rid of due to his behavior and appearance. However, these owners seem to genuinely care about Rex, their pets, animals for sale and their business. I would rather support this small business than some of the larger operations lacking a personal touch and a friendly environment. I don’t write many reviews but felt like I had to comment after seeing some of the reviews listed.

Laura Wynn

Friendly staff. Feel sorry for the dogs though. They have no soft place to lay, only plastic coated wire racks.Puppies don't have any toys to keep them busy or stimulate them. Smell inside was a bit funky. Great selection/variety of pets.

Lindy B.

I bought a parakeet there a while back I felt sorry for. Whoever clipped its wings did not know what they were doing. Way over clipped! Poor thing. As a result of this treatment he was an angry bird who hated and distrusted humans. The wings took a long time to grow out, and for the bird to mellow out and trust humans. The people working there are not real friendly and you may find yourself being ignored or treated like a bother if you need something. After reading all these complaints I have to wonder how this pet store has managed to stay in business all this time. This many people cannot be wrong.

Jayden B-J

These dogs come from puppy mills and I'm just a kid that hates puppy mills and will stop the store from selling dogs if they don't i'll shut it down

Moriah Levin

When I asked what breeders their puppies come from and they didnt answer me AND blocked me from commenting on their Facebook page, that's when you know they buy from puppy mills. Educate yourselves BEFORE you buy a puppy from any per store (especially Pets R Us). I did more research and the puppy mills they get their dogs from have been cited numerous times for poor conditions. The parents of these puppies are bred to death and all they know is life in a cage. Before you buy their overpriced puppies, think about the parents. Even if you feel sorry for the puppy, you are feeding in to the puppy mill industry and supporting a bad, money hungry business. For this store to advertise that their most recent boxer is a "rescue) yet they are selling it for $1,300...RIDICULOUS! That is not a rescue puppy at all. Go find a reputable breeder that won't charge you an arm and a leg for a puppy or check your local rescues and shelters. There are much better options than this store to find a pet. Now to see if the store deletes this review like they did with my Facebook one...

Naomi Vandersteen

This place abuses there animals! Doesnt feed them properly and no water! They have a bird that is chained totally cruel! This place discusses me! Call the police call the aspca

Julie Bowen

I love this store. It takes you back to the day..thank you

Brigit Mahoney

Pets-R-Us buys from the puppy mill "Crab Orchard" and supports horrible conditions for these poor breeding dogs. If they say the breeder of a dog is from "Ruyle", that is the Crab Orchard Mill. It is listed under the U.S. Horrible 100 Puppy Mills. Don't support this business that supports the mills!

M H

No one said hello or offered to help. Then I find a hamster that's been for awhile. I did feel bad when the employee tried to convince me it was sleeping. After picking it up she realized it was dead. Top it off two employees were fighting about how the owners manage money.

Aaron Lyons

Get rats for my python every month. Always friendly service and it's fun to browse the shop every time

chad claborn

Best pet store in town.

Joe Wall

Terrible service, dogs are mistreated. The main lady at the store has a bad attitude, they aren’t stocked up on cricket or worms ever. If I could give this a rating of 0 i would. Horrible place, don’t go.

Anne Mitchell

I absolutely love the owner and managers. Every one who works here genuinely cares for the animals. Even mine. They ask about all 4 everytime I go in. They have a cockatoo, store cockatoo named Rex. She's a plucker, which can't be helped but that sometimes happens with birds. She's well cared for...and I would know, since I have birds myself. There are concerns about the puppies but that is pretty standard practice for bred dogs. They're well fed and looked after as well... don't listen to these negative reviews. Just a bunch of keyboard warriors starting trouble.

Bobbi Taylor Johnsen

Check your expiration date before purchasing. Picked up a bag over a year and a half old. All the bags were expired on the shelf. The smell was atrocious. The help was very nice and friendly but product was questionable.

Morganne Swedell

I couldn't bring myself to support the store after seeing how dirty it was.

Chris Lynch

Nice local pet store. The staff and owner is very friendly Prices are kind of high though.

Tom Stearman

Wide variety of pets.

Curtis Sawyer

The staff was friendly

Kelly Pawol

I liked the selection of pets but I think that could give the dogs more space

Isaiah Guerrero

They always have what I’m looking for... Cheap prices!

Hanna Kelly

Horrible place with obviously fake profiles writing positive reviews to make themselves look better.

John Doe

Animals in terrible condition, starving, no food or water in their cages, ribs showing, some look like they have small infections. Absolutely 0 care for these animals are given, humane society has been notified. Hopefully they come and take these animals away and shut this POS down!

lps pups

All I will say is that I am definitely not rich enough to even set foot in that store.

Nikki Longlee

Haven't received papers on my purebred puppy that I bought back in February. When I called the store to ask about it they were rude and basically said they will not do anything about it. I asked them to call the breeder and call me back the next day for an update. Never received a call. A friend had the same problem- hasn't been able to get papers for her puppy she bought there. They won't even return her phone calls. This place is extremely unprofessional and I would never buy from them again.

Taylor Noelle

This place is not good. The workers are extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. The animals are visibly upset and unhealthy.

chad bundy

Great place

Brandon Howell

Not only do these cowards keep puppies in 2'x3' cages until someone is willing to pay 5-10 times what you should...but they can't take even the slightest bit of criticism on their facebook page or anywhere else...they like to act like they are doing something noble but walk in and take one look at a $1400 puppy resting on a metal cage bottomed enclosure and tell me they are helping animals and families connect. Voice an opinion on their social media and they will delete it immediately. If you want to keep these kind of people in business, then overpay for a pet that has never seen grass...or you can actually help animals by adopting a rescue.

Sabrina Simmons

Seeing all the bad reviews about this place surprises me. I've never gotten a puppy from them, but I have gotten guinea pigs, bunnies, and birds from them, and none of them have ever died or gotten sick shortly after purchase. My cousin got a puppy from here, and they never had any problems, and my aunt said that they even called a couple times after they got her to see how she was doing. The staff have been knowledgable and seem to care about the animals. The small animal cages always look clean, I've never seen any dead animals laying in them. The only criticism I have is that they keep the males and females together. The first guinea pig I got from them was pregnant, and luckily we got her anyway and had a lot of fun taking care of her and her babies when she had them, but there are people that wouldn't be so appreciative of that. I haven't been in the store in quite a while, but I've never had a negative experience with them.

Ava Martindale

Sometimes the cages are dirty but the staffs are really friendly and nice they let me hold bunnies and hamster ect.

Ilea Hoff

The puppies were shivering and sleeping on chain link floors with no blankets. 3 people working there standing around and puppy cages with poop all over their floors, one dog had his hip bones sticking out and a few puppies wouldn't even look out the window at us just lying there sad they looked wet...maybe just greasy but we had to walk straight out I wanted to start to cry..I'm from Seattle and we had one puppy store at least they had wood chips and a dog bed to keep warm they are just little babies..I hate that store I'll never go back and I will let everyone know, sad puppies someone needs to shut them down or at least hire adults that love animals and take care of them as their job..not a bunch of teenagers that stand around laughing and looking at their phones! Go hold a puppy and clean its cage that's why you get paid!!!!

Giselle Montalvo

Pet stores in general suck, but I recently went inside Pets R Us in Rockbrook Village. One of the first things I noticed is a parrot inside a cage, the majority of his feathers plucked out due to stress. I asked an employee about this, and she seemed annoyed that I imply this animal was anything but healthy. Puppies are in tiny enclosures, no food or water can be found in their enclosures. Please do not give your money to this terrible business.

Cody Madrigal

I honestly love this place! I have a Ball Python, who is a picky about his mice and Pets R Us the only place in Omaha that sells live hoppers. They save me tons of time. I call right before I go to the store, and when I walk in they always have it already prepared for me. But sometimes I go inspect around the store, to see what they have, and they have tons of cool animals you won't find at Petco (which is also very good) or Petsmart (Only good thing they have are good dog supplies, but full of jack*** business men). They have cool Bunnies, I swore I saw a Macaw, etc. They also have that warm good small business feeling when you walk inside.

Alexis Szymczak

Took my dogs to the groomers and they came home with fleas!!!!!! Also seen many posts about mistreated animals, for example dogs with rib cages showing and birds pulling out own feathers.

Maria Alarcon

Very nice friendly

Jessica Thrasher

Stay away from this deceptive business! I purchased a puppy from Pets R Us and was promised she was an Ausky (half Husky, half Australian Shepherd). Our vet told us there was no way she was an Ausky so I purchased a canine DNA test for confirmation. While waiting for the results, I contacted the breeder who was listed on my dog's paperwork. She was furious when I told her Pets R Us was marketing these dogs as Ausky puppies. Her husky mix got out and impregnated the mutt down the street from her. She said she basically gave the puppies away and told the store owner these were nothing more than mutts. Our canine DNA test confirmed this dog was 62.5% a mix of three or more breeds, 12.5% Coonhound, 12.5% Labrador Retriever, and 12.5% Husky. There are multiple reviews of this store stating similar experiences where the customer was later told by their vet that the puppy was not what they were promised by Pets R Us.

Melinka Harris

We advanced purchased a supposed to been full breed yorkie for our children for Christmas. Paid for them to keep her until Christmas Eve. We went to pick up our dog on Christmas Eve and her leg had been fractured. We took her to the vet and the put a cast on her. To make a long story short, the accident happened while in Tully's care. They didn't pay for the cast right away so we were unable to pick her up Christmas Eve night. My children did not receive their special gift. Then turns out she is not full breed. In the end, we received a refund and are currently still looking for a dog. I will not ever step a foot back into Tully's.

kayla cash

The staff are all VERY helpful and have been nothing but kind! I absolutely love my new puppy and appreciate all the tips and help they provided. I even brought a friend back in to get his brother!

Patricia MacFarlane

LOVE these people! Gotten all of my 5 dogs (periodically of course) from here and perfect, healthy, purebred dogs!!! I love my puppies and their service! Lifetime customer!

Shannon McCool

Get their animals from puppy mills/back yard breeders. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. adopt from Nebraska Humane Association - you will recieve a healthy animal that is up to date of shots and fixed for a fraction of the cost.

Andrew Constans

Staff got in a screaming match with customers asking about animal treatment and health. Will not be returning and I advise you take your business elsewhere.

Lexi Bolamperti

SUPPORTER OF PUPPY MILLS. AWFUL TERRIBLE PLACE THEY ONLY GET A ONE STAR BECAUSE THATS THE LOWEST YOU CAN GIVE SOMEONE. DISGUSTING

Drew Rash

The people that work here are decent people trying to make a living. I've read the comments about dead animals and too many in 1 cage and expired food. I've never seen a dead animal in the store. Been there a dozen times over the last 4 years. Never seen too many animals in 1 cage before either. I know there are a lot of puppy mill haters out there. But get over it. Would I buy a dog here? No, way too expensive, but I'm a cheap person and would rather get a free dog. Should others buy dogs here? I don't know, that's there own thing. Some of the comments on here are dramatized a bit. Just a tad. If you are reading my comment then ask yourself. Why are there no pictures of the pestilence and disease and dead flesh eating animals posted here? It's easy to add pictures. Where are the pictures... were they taken down? Why didn't they take out the comments too then?

Claireica

Expensive, small selections and animals don’t seem like they’re well taken care of

Alyson Miller

Felt bad for the dogs being locked in tiny squares of space with their own feces.

Phantom

Love the animals and all the different types of them too nice place to get your supplies as well.

Jake Spanjer

Nice store

Wahrheit Macht Frei

They are unfortunately the ONLY store in Omaha that sells feeder Rats, way over priced.... but okay. Omaha really needs a good reptile store.

Tony

Well supplied and stocked

JT Snae

The only place in town to get large rats to feed a large reptile. Great staff. Very nice bird selection.
