This was a horrible experience. I was just going in to be more educated on fish what i left with was feeling stupid and overall just disrespect! Mike was the rudest person!

Katie Busch

Great selection, looks awesome after the remodel!

Went on a Friday around 11:30 A.M. and a kid under 13 was working the counter. I was not greeted until 20 minutes later by a guy and he didn't even ask if I needed help. It seems to be a common theme for aquatic stores in MN to smell musty and like mold. The tanks were not in much better shape and a few had fish that were dead or dying, including a small Flame Angel. Overall I was not impressed by the selection of fish, products, or service. The search continues for an aquatic store that suits my wants and needs.

Andy Phan

Closed due to remodel. Opens again in September. I wished someone would have put a notice up online. Wouldve saved me a trip.

Mike and the crew are the most knowledgeable folks I've ever encountered when it comes to fish. As a new hobbyist, I feel overwhelmed with the options and differing opinions offered to me in commercial pet stores and online. Working with the guys at Wet World simplified my process and created a healthy environment for my fish. I will say that, in comparison to commercial stores around the area, Mike's livestock seem to be bigger and healthier than any other fish I've seen, short of ordering online direct from specialized breeders. The employees obviously love the hobby and are eager to share their wealth of knowledge, even with annoying newbies like myself. Go to Wet World. Whether you are an avid hobbyist with thousands of gallons of tanks or just starting out with some simple freshwater fish you will be pleased with the help and products you find here.

Never returns calls. Very sleazy experience every single time. Overpriced. Shame I live right close but do yourself a favor and head on over to Sea Level or Aqualand.

OK selection of fish with prices a little above average. I bought 20 fish because there were signs on the front door and all over the store saying that all livestock was 25 % off. After waiting 15 mins for the guy to catch and bag them, he rang us up, and when asked about the sale the response was "I wish that it wasn't false advertising, but it is." Then went on to explain that it was only gold and green fish, even though the signs clearly said ALL livestock. I was prepared to spend a little more for fish from a small place, because I want the small shops to stick around, but without the discount I ended up paying nearly double. I would have left the fish sitting on the counter and left, if not for the three young children that waited relatively patiently for the fish to be caught. Fish seem of decent quality.

Absolutely loved their store. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The selection of rocks, driftwood, plants, fish and coral was amazing.

I have been a customer for 1 1/2 years. Mike and his staff have helped me out with my freshwater and saltwater numerous times even opening up his store after hours to take my livestock when my tank crashed to minimize any loss. I would definitely recommend Wet World to anyone that is either starting this hobby or has been in the hobby.

Michael Gabriel

A great little tropical fish store. I am into south and central American cichlids and Wet World usually has a nice, but small, selection for me to check out. What I like best is that place will try, not just to sell you supplies or livestock, but to help you out. I just wish they had a bigger selection to choose from. Their saltwater selection seems to be larger than their freshwater. Supplies and equipment are in stock and decently priced.

sean corrier

Came here about a month ago to check out this store and it was closed and wasn’t posted anywhere, came in today to see all of the fire eels dead, not one was alive or healthy, other then that the store is okay, wouldn’t recommend if you gotta come far tho

Richard Chem

First time in here and wont be the last, wide selection of fresh and saltwater fish and friendly environment

Garin Craig

They have a great selection of healthy freshwater and marine fish (reason for 2 stars instead of just 1), but I won't do business there anymore. They seem much more interested in selling you whatever they can without any regard to the future health of the fish and whether they're right for your setup. I bought a Columbian Shark after being told it'd be just fine in my 20 gal setup... a week later it died. All the rest of the inhabitants of that tank were in good health, so I looked online and discovered that Columbian Sharks grow quite large should be in at least a 70 gal. I also read that they generally do better in brackish water as they are somewhat of a hybrid in terms of fresh/marine. I was also interested in starting a marine tank at the time and was told that I could add fish without cycling the tank first and that water changes every 3 weeks would be sufficient. Even at the time I was very skeptical, but decided to forge on with that info thinking that it'd be ok since an "expert" said so. Given that I already had a bad experience there though, I decided to buy the supplies and fish elsewhere. I picked out the healthiest clownfish I could find, but it died within three days. I finished cycling the tank and started doing weekly water changes (as I pretty much knew I should've to begin with), bought a new clownfish, and now "Nemo 2" has been doing great for over a year now. The only positive is that these turned out to be a great learning experiences for myself as I no longer purchase anything for my aquariums without doing extensive research first. I wouldn't advise against purchasing fish there, but take any advice that they give with a shaker full of salt.

Claudia Cyrankowski

Love this place they have so many fish. The guys that work there are super nice. I saved some money on a stand I got there! Definitely will go again

Nice selection of fish!

Drove from st. Paul to find a closed store under renovations till Sept. Should give a heads up on your web site. Will not be back

Brad R

Mike is the owner, he acts like he knows everything about fish, but he actually doesn't know anything. He will be the "fish police" while you are there, and tell you what you can and can't buy. Come after 5pm to avoid Mike the "fish cop" Don't purchase anything other than fish there, it's all over priced. This place also does "Warm salt-water tanks" the salt-water fish you buy here will die of no fault of your own. Mike is not a biologist, just a lazy hobbiest Take your business to "A world of fish"

Tyler T

Mike is very knowledgeable and always willing to help me with my reef tank in any way possible. The prices are fair and selection of fish and rock is fantastic. I send everyone I know who is has a tank at home to wet world for expert opinion and advise plus I’ve never had a fish or coral die that I’ve bought from them. I’ve been to every shop in the twin cities and wet world is by far the best in business!

Rachael Hertzberg

Huge range of aquarium supplies for both a beginner or experienced aquarium hobbyist. As well as good supply of both fresh water and salt water fish species, star fish, sea horse, live corals.

Patrick O

It used to be cleaner and more organized back in the day, but its an okay store.

Andy Setzer

Mike the owner is very helpful and eager to help you with your questions. There is also a college kid who woks there that is helpful. Beyond that that rest of the staff sesm annoyed when you ask them questions. Their customer service skills are awful!! They do not seem to care about your business one way or another. If you decide to go to the store you better hope mike is working. Also the prices are slightly higher than average.

I originally had written a 5 star review about this place just a couple months ago and I will be explaining in detail why the switch to 1 star and the update you saw above. So Wet World most recently got remodeled which was done by yours truly....I installed the tile as you walk in and the carpet tile throughout the store. Now before all this had started Mike Hunter the owner of Wet World contacted me and asked if I barted my services at all, I saw possibly what do you have in mind? Now prior to this I had been shopping here for close to 2 years now and spent well over 20K at the store, I have a saltwater reef tank and I would always shop with at Wet World I was a very loyal customer. Now Mike had suggested that he would give me a tank setup in exchange for my services to install all the flooring he said it would be a fair even swap so everyone's happy. So fast forward to the installation which took 3 weeks of my time because the store was never ready to get installed and there were constant delays that's could of been avoided had he scheduled me to come at the right time, instead he calls me in constantly saying you can work and everything is ready and I would get there and it would be the complete opposite. Had the store been clear for me to work your talking one full day for carpet tile install and prep and 2 days of work for tile and a stop a couple days later to seal grout. So after everything was installed and Mike was happy he then proceeded to talk about my tank. He kept saying we can do it however you want, only the best for you, 30% of off everything and I'll even come set it up for free... well Mike brought up my tank one day as I was installing and he said "I'm waiting to order your tank with the tanks for the store so I can get it half price for you" then the next day he calls me late one night while out a strip club talking about ordering me a 300 gallon tank for cheap while clearly intoxicated. Well we finally sit down and actually talk about tank...keep in mind this is the first time we have actually sat down and talked about anything for me. He rings up a 300 gallon tank with everything I "needed" and I see the price tag and my jaw drops! I see ten thousand dollars as the final price....my jaw drops to floor....I look at him and I'm confused and I'm like you know the installation for the all this is no where near that price right? He says yeah I know how about I order everything up and I'll put it on layaway for you that way we can get everything set up and running and that way you can come see it until it's paid off....so he expected me to pay off a 10K tank while it sat at HIS store until it was paid off which god only knows how long that's gonna take! That's worth more then what I paid for my truck and so I tell him that I would have to think about that. After thinking about everything I went in and told him that was way to expensive and also was trying to communicate my confusion as to how it went from a fair even swap to me oweing him 10K and that I would rather just get paid for my work. Because the whole point was for me to give him a cheap bill and I got a new tank setup for free, now also keep in mind that we never established what size tank I just wanted whatever he was willing to do because I figured he knew that the bill was going to be no where near what he was trying to charge me. To shorten this up before I reach the character limit I originally was going to charge him $1,600.00 as a friendly discount and after he tried charging me 10K for a tank I wrote a bill that was $3,200.00 which is totally appropriate for 3 weeks of time. I even took hours off and never charged him for stuff. I sent him the bill and I got paid a week later by his business partner after Mike tried weaseling out of paying me what was owed to me. As of 3/11/19 Mike left a threatening voicemail on my phone saying g I shouldn't hide behind my phone and come own up to my debt? Not sure how I owe him anything after he tried screwing me over for 8K to profit into his pocket......

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!! We called ahead of time about trading in fish, a bunch of goldfish and a 7 inch Koi fish. The man on the phone said they'd give 45 for the Koi alone.. Upon arriving they told us they would give us 20 dollars for all 8 fish and laughed about it telling us too bad. They didnt want to give our fish back when we refused either. A STRAIGHT RIPOFF AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MAKING A PROFIT. I have contacted the BBB! He disabled comments so I could not respond below. We called YOUR store as there are none in this area. I have proof of the conversation. So tell your lies to someone else.

Kallie Restemayer

Always has awesome service and selection!

Love the shop and the staff and especially the owner are very helpful will every need. You really get what you pay for at this store.

Just had a 230 gal tank built through Wet World. Mike helped with the system to make sure I was getting I needed so it would not fail. I of course researched everything and added an Apex Fusion. Mike came out set verything up. I went here because over the last 20 years the quality of everything has always been great. I have found with any fish store people have different opinions on what fish go together or what size tank is needed. It's always best to do your research. I have called or texted the owner questions and get answers. Mike is great and he is there on some weekends. There is also other knowledgeable staff but you need to ask the right questions. I almost bought a fish I would have regretted but I wasn't heading the advice from the staff. This is a great store and I will continue to shop here like I have the last 20 years. Thanks Mike!

Fatjohny100

Awesome shop..If you are into this aquarium hobby in MN you need to check this place out..They have a great selection of both Fresh and Saltwater.. I happen to like the Fresh and was very impressed with the fish they stocked..I will definitely revisit this shop..we are an hour away and made a special trip today just to visit..I promise pictures next visit..

I have dealt with A Wet World for many years. The first was when my sons started the hobby. Now my grandson is picking it up. You can go to the big box stores and get product but you wont get competant help in most cases, even up through the management. Mike and all of his staff have always been professional and are always able to answer all of my questions regarding fresh and salt water set ups, their problems, solutions and what to do to prevent further issues. They are always polite, fun to talk with. If you ask a question they always stop and tell you what they know best, Fish. They dont rush you and give you their full attention always even if the store is packed. I am confident each time I shop their I get the help I need. I highly recommend A Wet World. John

Jack Henning

My name is Jack and I'm 13 and During my experience at wet would I realized that the store is a little smaller then the average fish store, but what I also realized is there selection of fish is un camparable to the larger fish storestores. they have small to xl fish in fresh and salt water and there fish are very adorable! also wet worlds fish tanks, tank decorations, fish food, and there outstanding staff are better then any other place I've ever been to! the most important thing I learned about this store is that you don't need a big store or a lot of products you just need the good products and good staff and that's exactly what Wet world has. Also I got into the fish hobby about a month ago. and Mike(the super knowledgeable owner) and Wyatt (an amazing fun and friendly worker) helped me set up my first tank (55g). They each informed me about the fish and how they would behave together I ended up picking 9 fish. A gold Sevron,Jack Dempsey, blue convict, 2 tinfoils, a couple plecos and 2 oscars. I would highly recommend this store to beginners or experts because you will always learn something new the second you walk Im the door.

Been in this store many times before remodeling & after remodeling. Always see dead fish floating in fish tanks. GROSS!! Takes along time to be waited on. Think the place is a rip off. Only go because my client buys fish supplies there.

Charles Davis

Mike and his staff at wet world are very knowledgeable and helpful. Super helpful with setting up my first saltwater tank that I was very nervous about doing but they walked me through it step by step and now i have a successful and beautiful saltwater set up. Thanks guys.

Joseph Butts

Hit or miss place. Came here a few times but overall I would check it out if your on the area. Not the best saltwater collection.

Chris Bohm

Went to wet world for the second time and should never have! First time I was new to the salt water hobby and was looking for some help. Unfortanilly I trusted wet world world. He sold me junk. A return pump that was supper noisy, sump without a refugium, and a over the top over flow when I told him I was planning on drilling my tank. Once I rebought what wet world sold me I was up and running. I than made the mistake of buying live stock from there. I bought a anemone from him on a piece of live rock. At the time I didn't know better but the rock was full of bubble algae, and those invasive coral looking things. He never mentioned I should have broke down the rock and just put the anomone in my tank. I put the whole rock in my tank and I am now tearing down my 75 gal tank to get rid of the bad stuff that wet world sold me. Will never trust or shop at wet world again. Pretty crappy that a guy is so worried about making a sale instead of keeping a customer.

Brandon

Count your fish people! We originally wanted 5 but he told us if we bought 6, he'd throw in 2 extras. I shouldn't have trusted because he only gave us 1 extra :(

megan 963

I was impressed by the fish just wasn't impressed with some of the prices

bruce henry

I walked in and was the only person in the store. Looked around made a decision to buy some fish.told the guy what I wanted. He told me I will let Mike help you need to load a tank on the truck for delivery. In the meantime two other people walked in and as I waited both employees started helping them as I stood there. I walked and will never go back. How rude.....

- FlowerHorn -

I had a first great impression of this establishment. Though, it seems that when the owner isn't around, the staff are lazy rude and disgruntled. I was on two weeks prior to today's visit and had inquired about a few fish prices. As the owner wasn't there they couldn't sell the fish. That was all fine. Now, today, two weeks later, the fish has yet to be priced.

Chris Lindemann

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice new digs!

liam heidecker

A huge variety of fish also huge fish. Makes me want to get a big tank to house a couple big fish. Also they have sting rays.

Jennifer McVay

Quality stock, knowledgeable owner who is often on site and happy to help resolve problems with customer home aquaria.

Jeffy C

The livestock and customer service are FANTASTIC! The employees are great people and I appreciate local fish stores like this one. That being said, the 24w (24 inch) ATI bulbs were $35 each...Almost double the price from Bulk Reef Supply (which is where they get them). I watched the kid ring them up and I only paid for them so I wouldn't embarrass myself in front of the other customers. I won't even say what they charge for live rock. Get your livestock at this store, but do yourself a favor and get your aquarium supplies somewhere else and save a few hundred dollars

Gianni Gagliardi

Ken Kolbe

Good selection, great staff

Carolyn Marie

This was my experience: I walked in around 2pm on a Friday. There was one lady working and she was helping another customer and didn't acknowledge me - which is fine because I like to browse the stock at my own pace without distractions. Well after about 20 minutes I was ready to make my purchases but the other customer was still grilling the employee with questions so I still hadn't been helped. Instead of being bossy and demanding I just left empty handed. As a fish owner that does research BEFORE purchasing, I was pretty annoyed that there wasn't a second employee to just bag up some fish for me. Overall their selection was pretty nice. This would be a good place to shop if you were looking for fish that are more fully grown that most places have for sale. They had some giant discus, angelfish, and oscars among others. Unfortunately, their prices are nuts, even for plants. I've been to pretty much every aquarium/pet store in a 50 mile radius and this place charges double and almost triple what other places charge.

Bob Newbury

This is MY place to go! I haven't ever had a group of people so ready and willing to help me like these guys. These guys are the types of people I am glad to call friends! The rest of the fish shops have grumpy owners or inexperienced newbies that belong behind the counter and not on the floor! Can't beat the deals on feeder guppies from the secret islands of Micronesia!

Allie Wendel

My husband and myself stopped in today to look at upgrading our tank. Chuck was so friendly and helpful. He gave us great input and answered any questions we had. Super personable staff and a large selection of fish. Will definitely be returning!

D Bier

I can't say much about their freshwater section, but their saltwater section is OK. There are usually a couple jewels in the bunch. The fish don't always look perfectly healthy, but I've seen worse.

Travis McDonnell

Mike is a great person, amazing when it comes to being helpful, patient and knowledgeable when it comes to answering any questions customers have. Great business, with a great staff!.

Harry Jarocki

Poor customer service

Jake Long

The staff here are really nice and very knowledgeable about fish, They will definitely help you with any problem you are having. Their plant, and supplement prices are the lowest, by far, that you will find in the area. I had to dock them a star for their overpricing of fish and tanks.

Ryan S.

Be very cautious buying live rock from Wet World. As another reviewer stated their live rock is infested with worms, anemones, bubble algae, and other algae that will spread and ruin your entire tank. The employees are knowledgeable and prices on fish and coral are great compared to other local shops. I just wonder how the employees with all their knowledge can justify selling that garbage live rock to customers. If your looking for live rock the best place to go is Saltwater Empire in Bloomington. Their process is diligent and done right. World of Fish is also a good place to go for clean live rock and they have the best prices on live rock.

Horrible service, only Mike the owner can look at fish. And decide what to offer for trade. If he's not there the staff will tell you to bring your fish in on trade, and then Mike will contact you with what they are offering after you leave the fish, such a stupid concept. If your able to take in fish on trade then you need to have someone there that has that ability to value said fish. Not everyone can make it in during the week. Will take my business to a world of fish, where the staff is more knowledgeable and friendly. To bad for wet world ad I was looking to spend around 300 dollars beyond any trade in..

Met the owner and check out the shop. Quite a selection of exotic fish. Will recommend to other fish lovers.

The owner, Mike, is only interested in taking your money. He's only interested in your money! Highest prices for saltwater in MN. Rude staff, poorly maintained aquariums, outdated supplies, bait and switch tactics, prices go higher while your still in the store.

Dameon Simonds

Went to the store twice. Very rude and disrespectful both times, serving other customers that walked in after me before myself. Fish in tanks; sellinf false green terrors as green terrors. NEVER AGAIN!

ymerej lah

Josh Frost

Excellent expirenece! Will be going there from now on! Reasonable prices. The owner is very patient and holds down a very good establishment and a know how on a plethora of subjects in reagrds to Fish.

Rob Houg

Awesome LFS picked up my African Cichlids from here they are healthy and beautiful. The store is obviously run by an individual that loves fish and it is reflected upon the 1-2 hour conversations I have had with Mike and his employees. Mike is very knowledgeable and doesn't try to sell you things you don't need. I will continue to shop at this store as it provides expertise and quality that you cannot get at a commercial pet store. I will also say that I have never felt like I was rushed be it I am calling about advice on a sick fish or just shopping in the store. If you think having a fish tank is hard go talk to Mike at Wet World and you will be walking out with a tank accessories and the knowledge to setup your own tank that day. Marine Aquariums If its saltwater you are interested in but have not had the courage. Bring in a container of your tap water and the staff at Wet world will test the water and make recommendations upon results of the test. The selection of saltwater fish is pretty amazing as well.

I see they recently remodeled, looked nice other then all the dead fish in the tanks. A bunch of freshwater fish not much for saltwater selection and it's about quantity here not quality it seems. Staff seemed to just be there to get fish out of the tank, wasn't much knowledge...owner was by far the most intelligent but came off a bit condisending is the best word I would personally use. Parking was a hassle as well and it was also very stuffy. A world of fish has by far a more knowledgable staff and better atmosphere then this place.

Out of the handful of Aquatic stores around the metro area, Wet World doesn't disappointment! They are very well stocked with variety of fish, both freshwater and saltwater, and any type of equipment you might need. I visited thirty minutes prior to closing one night in search of black sand I needed for moving an aquarium to my new home. Unfortunately they did not have any in stock, but they did have an odd size aquarium (33g long) I have been looking for, and is now the home of all my bottom feeders!

Craig Ty Thompson

I absolutely love this fish store. I was thrilled to find an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey Cichlid in stock. They had a very high quality specimen in stock. I was very impressed with their customer service and enjoyed everything. Now all I need is for them to get in a red and white ryunkin goldfish for me. Iwish I could get a better photo he's constantly moving!

I decided to attempt a fresh water aquarium and selected Wet World in Eagan, Mn to help me with this process. I have been extremely pleased with all aspects of their friendly and informative customer service and thanks to manager "Mike" and his staff for making this entire process thoroughly enjoyable. I have a beautiful, healthy 72 gallon tank that is thriving in all aspects thanks to the coaching and information Wet World was able to give me. At first I was a total novice with no idea. Was not satisfied!!! that place is a Joke and the manager Mike was not helpful in any way he actually is very rude!! I shop there trying to help out the smaller shops even though their prices are much higher! Hoping they appreciate the business. Apparently they don't appreciate it!! Good luck staying in business if your going to treat your customers the way you do!!

Effortless Plum

Highly dissatisfied Purchased a fish from them a week ago and it has fugus on its side and head now one of my other fish have it. I knew i shouldn't have bought any fish from there. The tanks were all dirty and most of the fish appeared to have damage i will not be going to wet world anymore. World of fish in Richfield is way better anyway honestly. At least they know whay there doing and dont sell shotty fish.

Mindy and Mike Mahowald

We have bought all of our saltwater tank supplies at Wet World. Every time the staff is extremely helpful and explains everything with great detail. We appreciate all of their help and patience.

Overpriced

was new to saltwater so i didnt know any better but they charge more for everything compared to other stores... i bought a sump pump and found out he charged me 75 bucks over what the unit was.. also found out that i was paying on avaerage of 30 - 50 over on stuff like fish and parts. the last straw for me was having a charge go through on my card that they messed up on and said i wopuldnt be charged... i did get charged... and mike would not return my phone calls or deal with it. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. MIKE IS A CROOK. IF YOU BUY THER BE CAREFULL AND PRICE CHECK!!!!

I visited 4 fish stores in the area and by far Wet World was the most knowledgeable. Clean tanks, not over crowded, and the corals were amazing. They have some of the healthiest tanks I have ever seen. Contrary to another reviewer's experience, the focus here seems to be quality over quantity. They are small in tank count, but what they do have is very well maintained.

Mike does a good job helping folks out no matter if your just starting or been an aqua nut for years, new store looks great!!!

Brian G.

A great store. Mike and his employees are extremely knowledgeable about the hobby and are a great bunch of guys to talk with. Excellent customer service. The store has a new look with its shelves fully stocked with filters, food, chemicals, new tanks, and other equipment. Livestock is well maintained and tanks are full of fish and corals. In the 10+ years that I have been a customer, I have never seen the store full of livestock and dry goods as it is right now.
