I am oyster obsessed! And Coastal Seafoods provides them at prices that are comprable to what can be found on the East coast (coming from a girl who lived in New Hampshire). Additionally, the oyster guys took the time to teach me how to shuck an oyster and offered suggestions for places to watch local oyster shucking competitions where these gents actually compete!!! They also sell 20oz lobster tail and colossal king crab, which are two of my other seafood favorites. When I want excellent seafood for perfect prices I visit the local fishmongers at Coastal Seafoods because they are truly experts in what they do.

The ONLY place to buy fresh seafood in the Twin Cities, with one location in St Paul and one in Mpls. Seafood is flown in fresh all week and it's the best. We buy 2 lb. lobsters and if available, steamers from here almost every New Years. (I don't know any other place you can buy steamers (Ipswitch). Price varies and is sometimes expensive but it's never failed us, and is well worth it!! Also buy fresh fish during the year - - sushi grade fish, smoked fish, you name it! They have 20% off specials every day, Mondays thru Thursdays all year long. Fresh. Delicious. Nowhere better!! Enjoy!

If you are planning on buying seafood from them for major holidays (New Year's especially), place an order a few days early. It was PACKED on New Year's Eve, but still were able to get our first choice without issue.

I visited Costal Seafoods on Dec 31st 2013 looking for some sushi grade tuna for a tuna tartare recipe I was making for New Years Eve. I went in around 4 pm and was greeted with warm smiles and a polite "How can I help you?". I told the young man that was working what I was making and he told me they ran out of the tuna a few hours ago. I've had sushi before but i've never personally worked with the raw, sushi grade fish. I knew tuna was a good pick for a tartare so he could tell I was disappointed when I got the news they were out. Instead of letting me leave unsatisfied he recommended another sushi grade fish, the hamachi. I was weary at first because I don't know very much about fish but he assured me it had an almost identical texture and an even more mild flavor than tuna, plus it was cheaper! I knew I could trust him when he told me he's made a hamachi tartare before and so I decided to go with it, everything happens for a reason right? The results? A HUGE SUCCESS! Everyone at the party was absolutely thrilled, I even had a few people ask for the recipe. The fish was so fresh, beautiful and delicious I was amazed to get that kind of quality in the middle of Minnesota! Needless to say I'll definitely be back to Costal Seafoods for any future seafood purchases I need and I will be spreading the word. The fish was amazing, the service even better.

This was my first visit to Coastal Seafoods. I have never had a more satisfying retail experience. I called ahead about what I wanted, which was set aside for me, but had changed my mind by the time I arrived. The staff gave me great advice about alternative selections. I ended up with some excellent halibut and the best cod I've ever eaten. Through it all the staff was warm, friendly, charming, and funny. I'll be back.

Okay, so everyone knows or should know that if you want fish or seafood in the Twin Cities (dead center of a rather large continent) Coastal Seafood is the place to go. They have great daily specials. Wednesday crab deals is my favorite. Look online or call, as I'm sure those deals are subject to change, so don't trust me on that but they are great. The service is always impeccable and the fishmongers can answer anything and everything from how to transport, store and prepare whatever your hankering is. God, I hope they call themselves fishmongers... They also carry a great assortment of hard to find specialty items like a ton of Asian sauces and spices, but the best is some of the non-seafod/fish meat deals they have. I scored the best Duroc center cut pork chops on special. They are frozen, but when thawed properly they retain all that fabulous flavor and tenderness they are known for.

Freshest seafood and best oysters in Minnesota. They have sushi grade fish and wide selection of other fish and seafood. They have a live lobster tank and frozen seafood and soup. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they won't shuck oysters but they sell the knife and will teach you how to do it yourself.

I used to buy shrimp at various Asian markets because they were decent and a great value, but no more: Coastal's brown shrimp are the best in the twin cities (like most of what they carry) - I'd rather eat half as many shrimp that are twice as good.

The best seafood around. Keep an eye on there weekday specials as they have a new one each day of the week. It is the same reach week so it make it easy to plan. If you can, I would suggest calling in your order ahead of time, especially if you plan to be there around 4-6 in the evening as it can get get busy...they will have it all packages up and ready to go!

Had a bad experience here today. Went to buy mussels, got them home less than an hour later, and half of them were dead. We had followed instructions, kept the bag open so they could breathe and kept them cool. We called to ask how many of them we could expect to be dead, and the manager was extremely rude. She swore she had checked all of the mussels before we left the store, but we could see her the whole time and she did not do that. A simple apology and offer to refund half of our money would have sufficed, but instead she was rude and hung up on us when we called. There's no excuse for customer service that poor.
