Had an over rated breakfast here. Niche at it's best paying for location

I love the atmosphere of Toasted Oak! My husband and I went for Sunday brunch and ordered a few things off of the menu. The sticky bun came out first. Sweets first? Odd..but sure, why not! :) the cream cheese glaze was PERFECT. So delicious, not too sweet, not too rich. My meal (essentially, biscuits with cheese) was 'eh, okay;' the biscuits were too dry and there wasn't enough cheesy sauce to complement all 3 biscuits (I ended up setting one biscuit aside). I would *not* order that again. Our waitress was VERY nice, but at the same time, not particularly attentive. We had to flag her down a couple of times. Overall, I would say we liked the experience and would return again, but because they have a very small selection of items on the menu, I will have to return when I am no longer pregnant and restricted from eating half of the things on their menu (many items had soft cheeses, hollandaise sauces, etc.) They definitely had some intriguing selections that I really wish I could have had instead of the biscuits.

Toasted Oak was great 2-3 years ago- but unfortunately the menu is always the same and quality / service was way better before. Small portions / over priced.

Pepin von Bülow

Loved the breakfast food. It's more expensive for sure but food is higher quality. Also portions fill you up and helps you not over eat. Very nice interior.

Patty Scheuerman

Unique farm to table menu options. Delicious. Large and different bar menu.

Karen Roder

Nice dining room great breakfast

Matthew Bradley

Happy that the cornbread is back. Took some friends out for the holidays and had a great time. Love the changes to the menu and service was great as usual. Keep up the good work.

Loved this Marriott hotel where Toasted Oak Grill & Market is located in. First of all, the decor of the hotel is very trendy, warm and inviting with fireplaces throughout the lobby and lounge. Lots of large sofas for seating. The restaurant is very unique. One area is a bit more formal and another section of the restaurant has a rustic, country feel. Lovely decor throughout and very consistent with the theme. The service is EXCELLENT. From the time they greeted us to the time they brought our meal to us, the servers are very attentive. This hotel gave us vouchers for breakfast every morning and we were never disappointed with the food and the selection. I could not finish the dishes because I can't seem to fit American-sized meals in my little tummy. The presentation of the food was always so unique and you can tell that the cooks / chefs really cared about the delivery and the experience of the guests. One morning we came in in a hurry because we had to catch a flight. 2 servers and 1 hostess helped us get our food from the buffet which, by the way, had an incredible selection of hot and cold breakfast food. They fussed over us and made sure they prepared our coffee and also gave us all the utensils and packaging to pack our food. I was very impressed with my experience at this restaurant overall. If I lived there, I would go there for Sunday brunches as this would be the perfect place for that.

3 of us got the scallops and they were aweful, my sisters were raw, mine were sandy, we sent them back and they still were not acceptable! Always had a great experience there but not this time!

Percival J. Rowgood

We took my exceptionally gifted son Scott here for his birthday macaroni and sausage bowl. They didn't have a macaroni and sausage bowl. My son Scott had the sausage and he said it was the best sausage. I will eat your sausage next time I go there!

Marty Merrill

Overpriced food. Very good service; tough meat, tough brussel sprouts, french fries were ridiculous they were so bad. $81.00 later (for 2 people). no alchohol by the way. Bottled sparkling water was the highlight.

Laura Bates

Drinks, atmosphere and staff was good, this place is more for drinks, cheese and meat boards , entree food was horrible, chicken was extremely dry with no taste, mushrooms with beans was one mushroom with tasteless beans, olives for appetizers was just a simple olives you can get from local store, it feels like food is bland with no herbs or spices.

OMG

Carlos Agudelo

The beer, the appetizers, the trout with vegetables, and the warm cookie with French vanilla ice cream were just great. Especially, in the company of my business colleagues, as part of a global sales conference. The staff of Toasted Oak Grill was efficient, diligent, and very professional. Definitely a very fine option in the Novi area

Tyrone Williams

Don't order the bone in, the sauce mixture is truly a required taste, and only getting two small fingerling potatoes not worth the money.

Mike Thompson

Delicious food for brunch. a little on the pricey side though.

Lisa Hooven-Corp

Great, flavorful! Husband had the filet and said it was the best he has had in a long time. I chose the roasted squash; the lentil side with the sauce was to die for. Oh! And the sweet cornbread. Oh my! Spread it with their unsalted butter that they top with coarse ground sea salt..the sweet/salty combo was a pleasant surprise.

Aniket Parbat

Tried the salad, omlet, and bread pudding. Great taste, quick service and sufficient quantities. Overall a good place to try out if you're in the area.

k jannereth

Followed them on Instagram so was excited to go. Cocktails were good. Got flatbread pizza at recommendation of bartender and was dissatisfied. She took it off the bill since we barely ate it but also heard another table complain to waiter about food on our way out. Maybe just a bad day but won't be going back.

Rebecca Derks

Some of the best food I've had in a long time.

Jenna Nicole

This place has so much potential. The atmosphere and what they are going for is something we don’t have in this area. Unfortunately, the service is pretty poor. Our waiter came over after us sitting for 15 mins to take our drink order and then waited another 15 mins for drinks and was told she would be right back to take our order. We waited another 15 mins and couldn’t even find her and had to order from other waiter. We weren’t really checked on at all and we would have ordered some drinks if our waiter was accessible. The food was great but if they implemented some changes on the service this could be a great spot we’d visit more.

Sara Peters

One of my faaavorite bars in the area.

Chris Kizy

Not so hood. Bar service was terrible. Table service was good. Food was good. But booth was filthy

Joann Novak

Great food and drink, as always. However, such a wonderful wait person. Matt was courteous and helpful, polite and friendly. He made our evening delightful. Sincerely, Joann Novak

Ryan Didur

Patio mule cocktail is great!

Jennifer Decker

We loved everything about our visits! Amazing food. They have an exquisite pallet when creating flavor combinations. The crispy pork belly, and duck are wonderful. So many flavors. To pick a favorite menu item is impossible. Asparagus was delicious.

Hubert Wolski

My wife and I love this restaurant! Aside from all of the food being delicious and service wonderful, it always has a very creative menu that is constantly changing. They have great cooks behind the scene, you can taste the passion! Prices are also incredibly fair for the quality of food. 11/10

Tom Kuchno

Great atmosphere and delicious food.

Rob Arnold

Good wait staff. I had the farm chicken and it was a complete ripoff. The side dishes were incredibly salty.

Simeng Xing

Not as fancy as before. Morning menu is much shorter. But still good food.

Victoria Batchelder

Wonderful service and the food was amazing

Colleen Thomas

Best brunch. Amazing food. Great service.

Scott Bauer

Drinks and dessert were fantastic! Will go for dinner in the future.

Todd Miller

Nice people work there plus tasty food, a little pricy though.

Anthony Tamborello

I put the same review on FB. The fried chicken was obviously reheated and greasy. Mine was cold inside too. My wife’s puff pastry torta was also obviously reheated and she said it was pretty flavorless. Her salad was also wilted. They appropriately refunded the fried chicken that I only took one bite of. Neither one of us finished our meals. We’re now waiting at Breakfast Club less than ten minutes away so we can salvage this morning out.

Marshall McCrary

Very very very dedicated staff. The absolute best service I've ever had. Great food and great atmosphere. Check out our YouTube channel Michigan streets and eats

Ellie Fassoi

I liked the place! We sat close to the huge fireplace! The food was good, the desserts amazing and the wine list was big!

Jeff Warson

Delicious farm to fork fare. Courteous staff. I had an issue with the temp of my steak, not only did they replace, they took it off the bill. Manager came to speak to me abd offered us another meal in the future on them. Excellent wine list. $$$$

Mubashir Sabir

Had a meeting here. Beautiful Decor. Waiters were well versed on evenings menu, and the food was delicious! Can't wait to go back.

Amy Branch

Always a nice setting, and excellent food.

Beverly Edmondson

Love the atmosphere here. Food is tasty & well prepared. Service also good.

Janay Dutton

Great food, chill tavern vibe. Breakfast is my favorite here.

Justin Russ

The food was delicious, service was a bit slow. The atmosphere was awesome!

Eddie L Wright II

What a nice treat, to have such a good restaurant right in your hotel. It has a farm to table concept and the food is really good

Mike McNamara

Perhaps a bit overpriced for the quality of food. Vegetables with the salmon we're definitely overcooked. Salmon and pork DID have very good flavor.

Sandra Osman

Lovely after work spot. Wine and delicious food. Grab a bottle + a charcuterie board, you're golden.

Erin Krajenke

I wish I lived closer so I could dine here more often! The food is great and our server was fantastic. My friend has a gluten allergy and he definitely made sure to help us with ordering GF items. I used the Yelp check in offer to get the free kielbasa appetizer (grilled house-made kielbasa with caraway beer mustard and creamy caraway slaw) and it was fantastic! The sausage was great and I loved the creamy slaw. I will definitely get that again. I also ordered the Pickled Beets salad (butter lettuce, goat cheese croquettes, pistachio, and Michigan maple orange vinaigrette) which was good, but the butter lettuce was not cut up and I think too delicate for the dish. I would after preferred arugula, but it was still good. Then we shared fries and the chicken liver and foie gras pate. I have to say, this is the first time I have had chicken liver and foie gras pate and I was not a fan. That is not to say the dish was good, I just didn’t care for it. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu.

susan collet

The food tasted good and was interesting. The bread with the salad was dry. Slow service, about 30 minutes waiting for lunch. There was a party of 6 behind me and they were noisy. Considering the convenient location, it would be ok to return.

Charles Howe

Normally I love this eatery. Today our server was fabulous. However the charcuterie board was not good. Very little cheese and the meat was terrible. We like to stop here, when we visit Detroit, specifically for the normally great charcuterie board. So, if you go to Toasted Oak for this board, ask before ordering. Very disappointing.

Courtney Mester

Food quality comparable to Denny’s at triple the price

Judith Cassel

My Old Fashioned cocktail was perfect. Great service and nice atmosphere.

Lisa Mason

Food is incredible and service the same. Would highly recommend

Dawn Peters

Love the food & drinks. Often just sit on bar for lunch or dinner. Great place for after work cocktails too!

Sean Lundberg

I recently visited for the first time for cocktails and appetizers. Excellent whiskey and bourbon selections. Well mixed and made cocktails. It's fun just to see how they are made and the the taste is awesome. Great appetizers. They definitely take pride in what they serve and make.

Jenny Lee

It was nice .good food and good mood and kind service

Logan Tanner

Great place to meet and eat with friends. See you again soon.

Erik Perkins

Loved the atmosphere. The food was AMAZING. I can’t wait to go back.

KandiceKandi Frampton

Variety of entrees, each with a twist of their own! Delicious food great service!

Kay Murrell

3 star only for this visit. I've never had poorer service than I did last Saturday. The waiter was really off his game. We said we needed another minute for drink orders, 15 minutes later he came back, took 1/2 our orders then started to walk away without getting the remaining 2 orders. Then another 15 minutes we finally got our drinks and ordered. Got quick simple brunch items, I ordered a yogurt. My whole table got their orders intermittently, no yogurt. My table was nearly done with their food before the waiter came back and I had to ask for my yogurt! $6 for about a cup of yogurt and some mushy berries. I've been coming here for years and this was my worst experience. The industry is really hurting for quality employees.

Heather Walline

I formerly enjoyed this restaurant. The ambiance is great. The menu is limited but if you can find something you like it is great. Overpriced for what you get but otherwise it is not bad. One star because upon ordering a $50 bottle of wine FROM THE RESTAURANT MENU, we found an additional $7 “corkage fee” on the bill. I could maybe justify that fee if we bought a bottle from the deli/store area and wanted to have it in the restaurant, but this bottle was on the restaurant menu. Really left us with a negative feeling about the place, like they are working you for every nickel and dime. We will be finding a different restaurant to go to when we are in that area, and will stop recommending it to others.

Biswajit Choudhuri

Great staff and wonderful menu

Christopher Stanko

Kayla was an amazing server. Everything on the menu was so wonderful. Highly recommend. Can't wait for my next visit to Novi to eat here again

Leonard Schwartz

Superior. Good food. Good service.

Devin Gage

Terrible service but the food made up for the wait

Bob Ottaway

I had breakfast there early this morning. It was my first time. The service is excellent. The menu is very interesting with a lot of variety. The food was presented in a five-star fashion and was very very good. I thought it was reasonably priced for what you got and the atmosphere is really very nice with a huge glass enclosed gas fireplace. I would highly recommend toasted oak. Hip. Trendy. Great Eggs Benedict over quality sausage and sour dough toast. You can’t go wrong. I was there at 7:30. No wait at all.

Rosilene Magee

It was beautiful! The food and service was great! Thanks to chef Ken and Ryan our server! I will be back again!

Nicholas Stockbridge

Great for small business meetings, i had the short rib and it was fantastic. This is a place where you take your time. Do not rush, and enjoy a 3 or 4 course meal.

Jeremy Baker

Laid back comfortable atmosphere for a good drink.

Ron Slattery

Stayed at the attached Renaissance hotel as platinum guests. Tried to eat breakfast. We were sat at a dirty table. We asked to be moved to a clean one. They made it an issue. Waitress brought coffee and disappeared. After waiting a very long time we finally left. It’s not like they were slammed. It was 8:30 on a Sunday morning. There were 5 other tables with people eating. They’re empty for a reason. The table in the photo was filled with dirty plates when we came into the restaurant and was still there when we left. It’s the first thing you see when you enter Toasted Oak from the hotel side. There appears to be zero management paying attention the the front of the house. It’s too bad. The concept seems solid and could actually be something that draws people in for Sunday brunch. They way it’s being run currently - well, I’d best describe the place as a train wreck.

David Baehr

The food was all very good. Everyone in our party enjoyed the quality and presentation of the food. The atmosphere was also very nice as well as the servers. The prices seemed a little pricy at first, but as the food came out we know it was definitely pricier than what we were led to believe. The shareable appetizers were very small for 4 people so you will need 2. Nothing comes with your meal, it's all extra: salad, vegetables, and pasta. I had the Michigan trout., very well cooked tasted great and presented well, but I was looking for the other 2/3rd of the fish. Good restaurant but at least a $$$. Be prepared to pay. Dave Baehr

Breanne Elko

Fantastic food, great ambiance. The staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Ryan Gabrielli

I really enjoyed the interior, it was unique and modern. The food was delicious, a little bit on the pricier side. We shared a cheese board and it was great! The types of cheeses and the spreads that came with the board went really well together. The wait staff was friendly, however my only gripe is that we specifically asked to take our time after putting in our order all at once. Unfortunately, we were almost done our appetizer, and out comes our mains. It was a little bit disappointing after asking specifically for this not to happen. Other than that, the meal was great and we enjoyed ourselves.

Robyn Fox

Knowledgeable wait staff, though they were understaffed when I was there for lunch. Not many GF lunch options.

Robert Young

Great lunch. Just what you want, in fresh , just right portions. Loved the soup selection.

Patrick Kilcline

I like the Toasted Oak. I'd love it with a better selection of craft beer. My wife likes wine but I just go for the food.

yakowich

Atmosphere is great. Food is not up to par. $200 for family of 4, and nothing sensational to speak of.

Jessica Kelly

I checked out the little shop area within and it was cute, a small selection but a nice little variety of cheeses and meats. Wine is on the pricier side.

Jeremy Jungman

Good food, friendly Staff, nice atmosphere, wonderful night with my wife

青木淳

Good food but bit expensive.

Vitaly Pales

Friendly staff and horrible food - over priced - very sad for this popular place.

Ekaterina Teptsova

Really nice upscale place! Would be perfect for girls night or a date. Portions are pretty small though. So if you're looking for a filling dinner, you may want to look elsewhere. This place is more for wine & dine type of evening: wine, cheese plate, appetizers to share... Great atmosphere! Will return wearing high heels and a little black dress! ;)

Valerie S

Moms complaint, food too greasy. Had charcuterie tray. Flat bread greasy too.

Gana Wilson

Very good food, brussel sprouts appetizer is the best

Ck B

Great food. Friendly staff

J. Gray

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great people!

Miss Sanders

Great food atmostphere and staff. Limited menu options o. Weekdays. I love the Weekend Brunch options. and please add umbrellas to all outdoor tables for extreme sun and.light rain drops. Nice patio but the sun was opressive.

Alvin Williams

Didn't stay, took to long to get dinner. Had to wait for happy hour to finish

Terry Mack

Awesome amazing food.

ryan moorman

Great food and friendly staff!! I would go back

Gordon Rogers

Great food great service

Brynn Martz

Nice place to treat yourself to an upscale brunch. I had the lox and it was delicious! It was also clean and well maintained. The service was great too. I will definitely be going back.

Chris

Worst service ever. It took 15 minutes to order. 20 more minutes to get food. We waited 45 minutes after finishing our food to get the bill to pay. We requested it from the hostess and 2 servers before our server brought it out. This was during an average breakfast crowd on a Saturday morning. Many other tables were having a similar experience. We used to love the food. It was just ok. This is the second time we came in during weekend brunch/breakfast with bad service. Not worth the price or the service nightmare.

Mclane Crowell

Food was good. Service was good too.

Exie Buehler

Enjoyed a wonderful brunch with friends. My first time here and had a fabulous experience! Our server (I forgot his name) provided superb service for our 12-top. We sat inside, but enjoyed the open patio doors on this lovely spring day. Definitely going to keep this in mind for the future!

Denise Asker

Great place for lunch

John Vu

I used to love this place but there's a new chef! The food has become mediocre if I'm being generous. Service is still great though (otherwise they would get two stars). We had the pate and BLT pizza as appetizers. The pate as worse than you could get out of a can. The BLT pizza was OK. The great appetizers they had before are basically gone. The main dish I had was the Atlantic cod. Usually, it would be great with the old chef but this was just OK. The key lime pie had some spicy berry sauce that I thought was odd.

Chanavia Smith

The fish of the day is amazing. I love dining here for lunch.

Ashleigh Norfleet

Not what I was expecting at all. From the food to the service. It was Father’s Day so we had a large party. Other than our party it wasn’t too busy in there. Our waiter was terrible. I didn’t like his attitude, he messed up the bills and he tried to charge us for something that was sent back. He needs to be in another line of work because he can not handle that large groups. We had to ask for the manager twice and she even tried to take up for him for his mediocre service. As for the food the sausage we had was pink inside and he tries to tell us that’s how they cook it. no one should eat pork that’s pink. Needless to say I won’t be back

Sonya Stallman

Wonderful brunch

George Carpenter

I ate here for the first time. Good place and warm service. The food was excellent and delicious. i will come again!

Eka Melani

"Salty Grill & Market" is a better name for this place. We shared a bottle of wine, the calamari, the salmon fish special and the steak frites. The calamari has a different twist than the usual with a few thin slices of apples, peppers and pepperoni. It came out salty but the dipping sauce helped a bit. The steak came out to order (medium rare) but the edges/outside of the steak was over salted and the steak itself lacked flavor. The only thing going for this dish was the French fries! The salmon special was slightly overcooked and, what do you know, the entire plate (including the fingerling potatoes) were salty. I can't say that I'm surprised of how salty everything is since one too many reviewers say the same thing. Perhaps management/chef would take on this constructive criticism. Aside from how salty everything was, the place has a nice ambiance, priced fair (for this type of dining experience) and the service was good.

Cyndi Rude

Slow service. Way too expensive for the food.

Randy Haag

Very good home cooked food, nice ambience. Definitely worth visiting!

Robert Artelt

Great place for a breakfast or dinner. Service was great today. The wine bar is also a great place to have a glass or two.

Mark Niemasz

The best father's day breakfast I have ever had. Great atmosphere, great service, incredible food, and they were so accommodating to my three year old daughter. We will be back soon!

Martine Vartanian

They have really great sharing plates and everything is super fresh and super good. Prices are reasonable for what you get, some a little high, but the quality of the food is worth it. Service is usually good and when its nice out, sitting outside is an option.

Rachel Gearhart

A group visit here a few times a year for the past four years or more. However, after our last visit decided we won't be returning. The service was wonderful as always but we were disappointed in the menu selection and the food itself. Flatbreads had slices with no ingredients on it, soup was luke warm at best, greens in the salad were too large to eat and knives were cleared from the table.

Branden Omoregie

Very casual, quiet, and they have great breakfast food! Their wine selection is also great!

Alex

I recently had the opportunity to do a client lunch at toasted oak, as I was out in the area visiting around lunchtime. We ended up sitting at the bar, which was really comfortable, and the bartender super friendly. First impressions were extremely positive: it is clear that a lot of thought went into the menu, the curation of the wine list, and the great selection of Michigan beers and other craft brews. I had a turkey, avocado type sandwich that was wonderful, down to the quality of bread they used, and enjoyed it with a delightful stone ground mustard they brought me. My company had equally positive feedback about the food they enjoyed. I'm excited to head back to Toasted Oak soon. When we were on our way out, the very courteous manager struck up conversation, and she shared information about their weekend wine tastings/pairings, when I inquired about some various wine options. I cannot wait to surprise my wife by bringing her here soon, for a wine tasting event and what is sure to be a great meal.

Matthew Spiegel

Food was excellent, about what is to be expected at the price point. Service was sub-par for this price point. The kitchen lost our ticket so it took about 45 minutes to get our entrees. Manager came out and apologized, but the waitress flat out lied about not knowing a side condiment was ordered, she wrote it down when taking our order. Overall atomosphere was very loud. Definitely not a place for quiet conversation, but still a nice place.

Bella Mazzio

Toasted Oak use to be one my fiancé and I favorite places to grab a bite and enjoy a few dirty martinis. The food, the atmosphere, & the knowledgeable staff were such a win for us and always on point! We ate here a minimum once a week. I am sad to report the change in management & chef was a change for the worst and we will not be returning. The menu change is impractical, the portions are tiny and over priced, and the overall taste just isn’t what it use to be. If you are a fan of bland food this could be the place for you. Below I have attached pictures of part of our recent take out order. KEEP IN MIND WE HAD NOT TAKEN ONE BITE OF THE PICTURED FOOD. The potato leek soup was small, extremely bland, room temperature, and featured 1 thin slice of potato. Smoked trout spread which was previously served lumped in a filled mason jar with crackers or bread, is now a crumbled mushy version of itself. The portion and the presentation were absolutely unbelievable. When we asked if this was correct, we were told “yea this unfortunately is the to-go portion”. So even they know it’s unfortunate!Yet we still paid dine in price. We also ordered a couple of salads that were very small & nothing to write home about. I normally would have just canceled the entire order but I felt this experience warranted a review. We live 2 miles away in Novi so dining here would be convenient but I’d rather drive to DETROIT to dine before I waste another dime on this place to only leave hungry.

Dylan Gamboa

Great food. Never expect it from a hotel restaurant but well worth heading over to.

Jeffery Myers

Very Good food.

Cameron Dunbar

Went there this past weekend & had one of the best meals of my life. Outstanding charcuterie board, perfectly cooked fish entrée, quiet & cozy ambiance in the dining area, everything was just great. Our server Darrel was amazing and had an encyclopedic knowledge of absolutely every single item on the menu. 11 out of 10 experience, can't wait to go back!

Stephen Porath

I've been here a few times and due to the menu changing frequently, each visit is a bit different, which keeps it new, but means some dishes may not be favorites. I have never had bad food here, but my meal during my last visit was just... alright (steak/beef dish during dinner). I have been for appetizers previously, which were excellent. I also had a dinner previously that was excellent.

Jenn Burns

Great brunch, nice quiet spot to catch up with friends.

Charrell Gary

Made reservations to celebrate my graduation here (4/21/18) and was an hour late due to traffic (an hour before closing). The restaurant still allowed my party to be seated quickly and served us promptly! I had their smoked salmon on a toasted bagel with the unlimited mimosas and both were delicious! Will definitely come back for brunch!

Elizabeth Young

Super cool atmosphere! Very nice food selection as well. Amazing prices.

Jasen Strutt

Wonderful food, creative menu, friendly service, and location is pretty to get to and from. Will definitely be back for brunch / lunch.

Kevin Covey

Great staff, great atmosphere, great food and an endless wine selection

Reyes Reyes

One of my favorite restaurant & bar. Craft drinks & wine. Food selections are different and worth the time exploring

Rick Jacob

Nice decor and helpful waitstaff. Happy Hour was a good value for drinks. Food was very "earthy".... not my cup of tea.

AgentD Wib

Great service, food, and atmosphere!

Correna Sergent

Good wine and food.. Nice outdoor patio

David Livermore

The quality of the food and service is excellent and the atmosphere is pretty cool too. If you're into typical American food with modern twists then this place is perfect but it might be a bit too out there for people looking for something simple. By modern twists I mean instead of normal french toast they have stuff like sourdough french toast and instead of a typical parfait, theirs (which is amazing) has a homemade maple bourbon sauce in it.

CJ Green

Overpriced. My wife ordered a mixed drink that came with a huge ice cube in it. When she removed the ice cube there was maybe 3-4oz of "drink" in the glass. $13, plus my $6 Stella Artois (smallest size possible) equals an "We should have gone to a convenience store" moment...

matthew katz

Food is always very good here, and it was tonight also. Drinks and service we're great and the ambience was very nice to eat and relax.

Usman Sheikh

Breakfast is great.

Tracy McNeilly

Great food nice location

Jean Bee

My family loved your brunch, I did not. Your brunch menu has no vegan items. I ordered fruit and recurved a small little bowl.

Corey Miller

Amazing food, the drink selection is superior.

Ken K

Farm to table restaurant. One of my favorites in Detroit.

Naveena G

This is part of the Renaissance Hotel! While the ambience is just okay, food sounded interesting on the menu and ends there...basic items as fingerling potatoes were undercooked and the salad was literally lifeless in flavor, and the noise inside the restaurant was so loud that it made it hard to even hear one's own voice

Stephanie Tankersley

i love the local options

Cullen Smith

Really good food but a little pricey.

Teri Scheffler

Used to be great. Slow service, waited an hour for drinks and it wasn't busy. Food wasn't cooked properly. Main dishes raw and some dishes burnt. This was supposed to be a celebration and we waited forever for drinks, food, and even our checks. I could not believe how bad it was.

michael civiello

Nice lunch on a cold day. Soup was great.

Sunny & Yana

Great food & atmosphere!

SBBC Nelson #1

Excellent. High end entrees. Good wine selection.

Loli Pop

Love the food, staff, ambiance and what not? Keep up folks.

Alex Tse

This restaurant was one of my favorite in the area that I would make a point of visiting every time I was in town for business over the last seven years. But earlier this year the executive chef left and the new chef stumbled out of the gate. When I went in February the food was really terrible with completely mismatched flavors, you could tell the new chef was trying to figure out how to make his mark on the menu. So I go back again three months later to see if things have improved. In many ways they have, their menu is much more coherent and the presentation is suitably rustic. The service (never bad) has actually improved to be exceptionally good. I would actually like this restaurant again IF the new chef could restrain his EXCESSIVE use of salt! It literally just burns through all the other flavors and turns a potentially good meal bad. Considering it has already been nearly half a year, my guess is that this is reflective of the chef's palate, he and I simply do not agree. I don't think I'll be back again anytime soon, maybe a year from now I'll see if a new chef has been installed. Just sad since this was literally a restaurant I had previously always looked forward to dining at.

Hagay Dvir

We go there often. The food is always good and there is always something new on the menu. Very nice ambiance inside but it is especially nice to sit on the patio when it is open in the summer. They have a rotating (but always good) selection of cheeses and meats so make sure to try the charcuterie board!

I'm a regular Marriott guest due to the amount of travel I do for work. The Toasted Oak is one of if not the best property managed restaurants I've visited while staying the Detroit area. Phil was great and I'll definitely be staying here again.

Found this gem of a great restaurant by sheer accident. Great atmosphere layout and attentive staff. Had smoked grilled ceasar salad which was fantastic. I live an hour away but going back to try other amazing looking dishes. Wish I had a great restaurant like this my house

Clean place and great service. The food is mediocre. Last time we went they were out of a ton of foods limiting the menu. Great drink options

Toasted Oak was one of my favorite brunch spots in Novi. Just went there today, and it was honestly terrible. We waited 15 minutes before a hostess greeted us, and waited another 15-20 minutes before our waiter stopped by. On top of that, they were out of several menu items on an already select menu (at 11am!). The food was average at best. Very sad that it is no longer the restaurant I used to love to go to.

Julie Hays

Very mediocre food with somewhat slow service.

Thom Crane

I was underwhelmed by the food quality. The service was mediocre and the prices are inflated. I won’t return.

Love their brunch on the weekends, come every weekend. Wonderful service most of the time, and Darell is a great waiter. Highly, highly recommend.

Toasted Oak offers a farm to table appeal with strong American fare influences; however, the American fare influences cheapen the experience and ultimately underdeliver. For example, one of the main dishes, the filet, comes with a side of french fries. The filet was incredible, but paired with french fries, it felt lacking in effort. The asparagus toast starter also needs some more work, with lingering bitter notes. Overall, the food was good, but the menu needs more inspiration and they should look to more creative farm to table options as opposed to cutting corners with french fries.

The atmosphere is good and so is the food!

Loved the ambiance and the food was amazing. Try their duck

A little pricier than the Yelp $$ rating, but good. I would have liked more farm detail on the menu. To me that would make it worth the $$$ Everything very well prepared and presented!

Jason Lo Presto

Food was excellent. Good beer and wine list. Kitchen closes way too early.

Neil Kane

Excellent dinner. A bit pricey but no complaints. I highly recommend it for a great meal and a comprehensive wine selection.

Eclectic and well done/presented on each of the 4 meals ordered. A little loud where we sat, then again the room was full and the season was being celebrated.

Perfect Services

We arrived before the dinner rush and reserved a table for 6. It started out great we were placed in a nice and quite area some what secluded as we had requested. However about 35 minutes after a large party started conger gating in a room on the other side of where we were sitting. They became very loud and were mingling outside of the room. We shared with out waitress and she was able to move us right away to a table on the patio. She comped us a desert for our troubles but it took sometime to get as we let her know we were on a time constraint. All and all the food was delicious as well as the deserts. I hope next time will be a more pleasant experience
