Excellent food but: ordered lunch special and felt safe doing as it was fish tacos and I had 20 mins, was getting it to go. 15 mins later they said it was going to be another 5 minutes. I had to leave so decided I'd be back for the food (already paid). Came baxk 10 minutes later and they said they were making it fresh so had to wait another 3 minutes. The better thing would've been to give me the original tacos with something extra for the inconvenience or my money back. Food was fresh and good as long as you're not in a hurry.

I came to this restaurant after checking out the farmers market. I had heard from friends that this place had really good seafood so I wanted to check it out. I got calamari, raw oysters, and mussels and various fish. This place is pretty good but it's also fairly pricey and at the time that I came, this place is packed. The oysters were really good and I recommend trying their muscles since they use this wine sauce that is really good. I highly recommend to try this place but make sure to come early because this place does get really packed.

I can never say enough good things about Monahan's! The Oyster Po'Boy Lunch Special on Saturday is amazing. Currently the po'boy is about $13.00. You get between 6-10 fried oysters (depending on oyster size), plus fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion and remoulade on a squishy baguette. Every bite makes you close your eyes and really enjoy the marrying on flavors! The case of fish is also fabulous. Stocked up with about 10-15 varieties of fresh fish fillets (or even whole fish) you can have them cook it up for you any style, or get it to go to cook at home! We only get our fresh tuna from Monahan's - perfect lightly seared on a salt block, or sliced up for homemade sushi. Located in the adorable Kerrytown quadrant - it is DEFINITELY worth a stop in. At the very least to check out the fish (and let your kids poke a couple as the Monahan brothers load you up with fish knowledge).

Customer service-wise, it was excellent. I wanted a sea bass, but they didn't have any. It was Sunday and the fresh would be delivered on Monday. After describing what I liked, it was decided I would be trying something TOTALLY DIFFERENT. A Skate fillet. I was given suggestions on how to prepare it and told that it was a mild tasting fish that would better be served sauteed in olive oil and topped with a caper butter sauce (I got that from there as well). I'm preparing it tonight with brown rice and sauteed vegetables. I will post the outcome later.

Bad first experience! My food was 24$ something in total. Gave the stuff 40 bucks, only get 5 dollar bill in return. Only realized it when I got home! Fish n chips are so bad compared to the authentic one people offer in British and Australia! Claimed the amount of money that was mine. The attitude of the stuff is very good. But the food I had is really not that satisfying. Won't recommend fish n chips and soft shell crab!

First-time customer....bought grey sole to prepare at home. Some of the best fish I have EVER eaten. grey sole is from the flounder family, but more delicious than any flounder I have ever eaten. Can't wait to return as a regular customer

Great quality fish and seafood. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They are always willing to discuss the types of fish and techniques for preparing them. If you are craving a certain fish and missed the stock, they will let you know when they are expecting more of it and even set some aside for you. The weekly emails you can sign up for are a delight as well and contain recipes and fun anecdotes.

So good! Went and got a side of slaw and a cup of chowder today. So glad I tried it! Chowder was nice and creamy with big chunks of clam and potatoes. Bread that came with the soup was buttered for me and slaw was delicious! Definitely a new lunch spot for me.

The fresh salmon we purchased was suburb, however we are worried about the condition of the phone as the employee jumped from handling fresh fish to taking orders on the phone with no gloves or washing hands. Customer service otherwise was speedy and helpful.

Growing up in the Northeast, living in Michigan has been rough when it comes to fresh fish markets - especially on the west side of the state. Anytime we're even remotely close to Ann Arbor, we have to stop at the fish market. The Fish & Chips are absolutely perfect; not too much seasoning - you can still taste the fish. No condiments necessary. The chowder is as good as they come - and a bonus, anything in their case can be cooked up for you.

Nice little market inside of Kerrytown market downtown Ann Arbor. They were packed, but it was during the farmers market, so it was to be expected. They offer lunch, ordered a cajun shrimp salad sandwich, was pretty good. They are on the pricey side. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Food is good if fried seafood is your thing. A bit oily but gives you that Boston living on the coast feel but instead your inland. The prices of the raw fish to buy are quite expensive but your paying for the experience. overall it's good. Would give it 4 stars but the oil is not my thing.

You will not get better, more fresh seafood anywhere! They get just enough seafood to sell out quickly. The selection is awesome while it lasts; the service is spectacular and friendly. Their soup is always a great meal. Yes, Monahan's is expensive, but the quality is outstanding. Buy the same named fish elsewhere cook and you will quickly know which one is from Monahan's, and you will go back for more.

If you like seafood than you need to try anything and everything. The most ambitious option on their menu is the Pick a Fresh Fish. Pick a fish that they have freshly available than tell therm how much of it and how to habe it cooked. Yes you can go beyond the simple choices available. For example here is their Fish and Chips custom with perch filets. The batter is awesome and the fries are just as good.

This place has the best seafood in town. I highly recommend the fish n chips, they really are the best almost anywhere. Try any of the specials like the oyster po boy or fish sandwich. Monahan is an amazing cook and uses all local high quality ingredients. The soups are spectacular as well. You can also ask them to cook any food they have in the display case.

This place is fantastic. The fish is wonderful and very fresh. My husband and I come here every NYE to purchase goodies for our celebration. We also try and stop here a couple times every year to get lunch. My husband always orders the fried oysters and OMG they are so good! Last week when we stopped here I got a piece of salmon with capers, lemon and dill and it was so good! The tartar sauce is fantastic, no sugar!. The lobster salad is wonderful. The owners and employees are so nice and helpful. Highly recommend this place!

Sushi-grade fish! There is so much more to Monahan's than just sushi-grade fish, but that is why I come here. You can call ahead of time to learn what fish they have in stock, you can have some set aside for you, and then when you pick it up, there are lots of of helpful things if you're making your own sushi--fresh ginger, for example. Likewise helpful things if you're making regular fish--fry batter, for example. They are, of course, expensive. A few slices of sushi-grade fish, a few cuts of the regular stuff... and suddenly you're thinking, "Whoa, where are these big numbers coming from?" So a great treat (making sushi is a nice date!), but definitely a treat.
