This is the only place I come to get my crab legs....they are big and the price had gone up over the years but so has the grocery store....this place is like a buried treasure....I can always find different batters available to cook my fish or grab a quick sandwich that they've been making and selling over the years...I'm here at least once a month but I'm always telling people about this place

Terrible - I bought $67.20 of King Crab Legs and they were bad - spoiled. I brought the receipt back to store as I had already disposed of the crab legs. I had been a long term customer for over 15 years and figured they would do right by me. No - they were so rude and insulting. Claimed they never sell bad seafood. Never ever will I buy anything from this establishment. Every opportunity I have to tell others how poorly I was treated I do.

First thing I noticed was how freaking clean this place is, it doesn't have a fishy smell at all. Absolutely beautiful fish, I never seen such juicy looking orange roughy fillets (Baking them as I write this), fresh looking sausages, I will be back to this market, if not for fish, for the sausage sandwich. OMG , I can eat these daily I swear.

The Old World Sandwich is worth a trip to this shop. It’s a delicious mix of sausages with mustard and lettuce on a pita. The store where you can buy this is inappropriately named the Eastern Market Seafood Company. They do have seafood available, but half of the shop is dedicated to sausages. The rest is a sparsely stocked grocery store (what it must have been like in post-Soviet Russia in the 1990s). Not sure that they need all of this space, but the sandwich is seriously worth the stop.

You have to come here for "The Works". Inside this seafood store is a sausage counter where both fresh and smoked sausages are stuffed into a pita pocket for $3.50. Its the perfect on the go snack while you're touring around the market.

If you’re really hungry, super size your pita with “the works” and get five sausages for $5.50 OMG wonderful unique a must try while shopping in Eastern Market. A great lunch stop for a three or five sausage pita sandwich cooked and made fresh. Your first smell when you walk through the door will be the delicious smells of sausage. Ask for the works - a meal in a half a pita. What a great idea to make the best sausage sandwich right out of a meat market. A Detroit classic. A full selection of meats and seafood is available. Yes at times they can be rude but doesn't everyone have their days when it's busy they stick to business and get the customers out the door with out a long wait! They have the best n cleanest fish market in town impeccable prices with outsoundin choices been going here for at least 10 years nothing has changed not even then service I miss the seafood sells they use to have from time to time but I will always choose this place for seafood shopping! Stay away on Mondays as well as any other day. Purchase $80 in perch, orange roughy and mahi-mahi everything except the mahi-mahi was spoiled after a one day. Really disturbing that they would have the audacity to sell fish like this to a anyone. I wonder how they would like it if their spouses or children became poisoned from spoiled fish .

They werent very welcoming, no "hi how can i help you" and though the king crab was very cheap, i shouldve known it wouldn't be stuffed with meat. /; a majority of my king crab legs purchased from here only had meat in it about half of the leg in there.

First of all, in response to the "rude" comments that are posted here I will offer the following. This is a very busy seafood market in the middle of a very busy public market area. If you are in this place when it is busy, the staff are very business-like. They are direct and to the point. That being said, I am Cajun by heritage, transplanted to Detroit. I buy all of my seafood from this place including shrimp (freshest in the area), crawfish tails, blue crab, and andouille. They also have the traditional Great Lakes stuff. All very fresh. Many times when I go I talk seafood with the staff. They are very friendly and offer suggestions. By the way, may sound silly but the SALMON is excellent. Again, very fresh. So, go in on Saturday morning and be ready to order, pay and get out. Go in midday during the week and ask them about recommendations.

I'm here, at Eastern Market Seafood, where they sell a variety of seafood. From shrimp to swordfish. Not to mention, a good variety of sausages. So, let's take a tour. The shrimp counts are: jumbo 12/15, large 21/25 and medium 26 to 30. They also come cooked and/or breaded. I found lobster tails, all different sizes. Oh my goodness, one of my all-time favorites, King Crab Legs, yummy! In there fish case, they sell, Orange Roughy. Remember, you can't find fresh Orange Roughy in the United States. It comes from the deepest parts of the ocean in New Zealand. Orange roughy is, one, that is authorized to be twice frozen, therefore, when you buy it, cook it, for the best quality and flavor. The shelves are stocked with everything you'll need to cook your Seafood. If you don't believe me, come on in and see.

I come into this place week after week, and last week I brought a bag of shrimps that hat not fresh, and I brought the bag back and told his wife I do not want it. She had a terrible attitude telling me the new bag is going to taste the same as the other. Where is her customer service, every market makes mistake not sometimes having fresh product, this lady act like this place don't make mistakes, top this off I told her I only ate 7 shrimps out the bag, her husband took 7 shrimps out my new bag. If he meant right he would have gave me a new bag without taking anything out of it, if I was Caucasian I wouldn't had no problem. I am fed up with racists business. They hate blacks but want our money, it's not right!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am tired of receiving subtle racism!!!!
