We've had many great visits to Fishtown and Carlson's over the years, however don't believe the opening times on google maps during the winter months. It was closed when we visited today - their website suggests to call in advance for winter hours.

My family and I stop here every year before our routine week-long excursions on North Manitou. The smoked fish is amazing, as well as the jerky. We always fight over who has to carry the extra weight in their backpack though! Great store, atmosphere is nice, the food is fantastic. A+

By far my favorite smoked white fish. Their beef jerky was very good too (had it years ago - had some softness to it and not the kind that's super dry or hard and gets trapped between your teeth). I frequent this nice family owned shop when I visit. The smoked fish and jerky make great gifts for my folks back home.

The smoked whitefish and smoked salmon pate were entirely too salty. It was awful. The place didn't smell clean at all, and the customer service was terrible. The staff really didn't want to be there. A local told us to go to Gabe's for smoked fish. Customer service was friendly, and they asked us if we wanted to sample before purchasing. It was wonderful. All you could taste is delicious, fresh smoky fish.

I bought this past week end Friday 17th June some smoked fish sausage, when I got home in Mancelona this sausage smelled so bad that the guest I had over would not eat it , the smell was really bad fish smell we ended up throwing it out 20.00 dollars worth ,I believe it was spoiled ,buyers smell your fish first . I will be back to check out the other items some other day.

Some of the best fish in Michigan. I have driven 3 hours one way to come here to get smoked salmon. It is the best. This place offers fish and jerky. They do have their t-shirts and spice mixes for sale as well. (Not a sandwich shop. That is next door at the cheese shop.)

This is a great place to stop for delicious smoked fish, my favorite is the whitefish. They jerky (beef and turkey) is also pretty amazing! It is fun walking around, view the water & visit the shops of Leland, "Fishtown" as well so plan to walk around a little too!

We love going here. The smoked fish is delicious. Usually doesn't last very long in the refrigerator and we end up going again a couple of days later. It can get a little tight in the store, especially since it's very popular. But you won't be in there very long.

The business has a different feel since it changed hands a bit back, definately more commercial feeling. They changed the recipe for the whitefish pate and I do not care for it as much. These things being said they are still my favourite place to get fresh trout and whitefish from. Make sure to ask if they are fresh or from frozen. The smoked whitefish and trout are just as good as ever. I give the salmon a skip because its Atlantic and not from MI. Make sure to get there early in the day if you want fresh fish!
