I have been going to Anchor Bay Aquarium for over 40 years. The owner is very knowledgeable and kind. The staff are just as knowledgeable and as kind as the owner. We take our Parrotlett there to have his wings clipped and they are very gentle with him. It is like a well check for him. They let us know about his weight and general health. Even offer great advice on dealing with some of his behavior issues. Their selection of fish is amazing as well. Store is clean and well maintained. Highly recommend this store. Great personalized service.

Long time staple of New Baltimore, AB Aquarium is owned and operated by folks that have pets too. They are passionate, knowledgeable and helpful. I cannot think of anything you could want that they dont have one of in stock. If you need 10 of something, they'll order it. If you've only gone to the big pet supplies you need to come here once and check it out.

I've been an aquarist for over 50 years now and have known Casey since he opened this place originally in what is now the carpet store on Greene street. You will find no one more knowledgeable in the area when it comes to aquarium fishes and their well being. His livestock is always the best you'll find anywhere (he drives down to the airport himself to go pick them up) and you'll always get a smile and a quick quip. Stay away from the diseased fish at places like the big box pet stores. You have an absolute jewel of the industry right there in New Baltimore and it deserves all the support you can give it.

The owner (I forgot his name) was amazing. We talked for almost a hour about fish and birds. Very nice and knowledgeable man. The tanks where clean and well maintained. The prices were decent. They had salt and fresh water. Mostly community fish. Some chiclids and discuss. A few predators. Lots of very nice aquatic plants. But I was looking for more oddball fish. He did have a royal knife fish that I might go back for. Not much of them that I seen. Very wide selection of treatments and medicine. All together a really nice store in my opinion. And I'm almost sold on this tank.

Need better customer service. We waited for quite awhile with my grandmother. She almost fell due to standing for so long. If waits are going to be long, at least supply seating! Also, have more than two staff working so customers can be helped in a timely manner.

Best selection of fresh water tropical fish and aquarium plants within at least 50 miles! A lot of species you won't find most anywhere else around. Also a nice selection of aquatic plants and lots of supplies including the full seachem line. Stop here first for all things aquatic!

Owner and staff are very knowledgeable... they have been helping me with an issue in my aquarium for 2 weeks, testing my water, making suggestions, and providing a variety of options to fix the issue. The selection of fish compared to some locations is smaller but they only sell high quality and stand behind what they sell. This is a great local pet store.

Such a wonderful store! My family has been coming here for years, and we've never been disappointed. The fish tanks are immaculate, and the birds and reptiles are very well cared for. We've never gotten an unhealthy animal. They carry various live, frozen and dried foods, and they also board small animals if you'll be away from home for an extended time. It's nice having a local store that cares for animals more than profit, with a staff that will take the time to answer questions and find solutions.

Absolutley the best aquarium store in the area. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Any place can sell fish; to be able to speak to someone who has been doing this for as long as Casey has and have him help diagnose tank problems, sell you the correct medication for your fish, recommend tankmates, and do what is best for your fish is priceless. There is not another pet store in the area that can do that. They have a fantastic supply of fish (freshwater and salt), food (flake, pellet, frozen and live, my fish "expect" live brine shrimp), supplies, medications, basically anything and everything you need to have a healthy and happy aquarium. Casey and his employees are the best, and have helped me save many a fish over the years. My all-time favorite aquarium store!

Definitely do not come here if you are looking for hermit crabs. “3/5” were sick in the tank at the store. But i had purchased the 2 who were “not sick” and they passed very quickly. I have had them before and know what to do and how to care for them. They were sick. Very disappointing.

A lot of good fish supplies but their betta rack was horrible. Most of the bettas were clamped up, had swim bladder disease or were on their death beds. They were pretty knowledgeable about aquatic plants but there are certain tanks I would not buy plants from because they had cyanobacteria or black algae. This will probably be my first and last visit.

Loved the store. The woman that waited on me was fast, friendly, knowledgeable and knew answers to my questions. Not to mention I bought fantastic horn worms from here, about a month and a half ago, they all lived. 10 of 12 pupated just fine, two taught my dragon to jump.

Just made my first visit last week. I was quite impressed with the owner's knowledge and willingness to take his time to help me out. But what struck me the most, was an elderly lady came in with the pump motor from her water fixture, which is just a fancy word for water fountain, she got as a gift from Meijer. She said it was over 10 years old and that the pump no longer worked. The owner and his wife took a look at the pump and explained to her, that it was probably gummed up from the years of use and build up of calcium on the pump. They had another pump that was exactly the same but did not have the light that the water element used to light it up. So the owner took the pump into the back room took it apart cleaned it up with WD-40 wiped it down and brought it back out to the lady at the checkout counter and told her that it now worked fine and he hope that she would enjoy it for another 10 years to come. The lady said, "What do I owe you?) You just messed yourself out of the sale of the other pump." He said he knew that, but making her happy was more important, it's not something I will soon forget.

Just stopped in today for the first time with my son. Not sure if we met the owner but he was so kind. I was tempted to buy another beta with a side by side tank. He said he wouldn't recommend I do that to my current fish . He could have sold me a new tank and a fish today. But he knew it wasn't a good choice!! I left with a few things for my fish today and dog treats, and will return there for all of my pet needs. Drive by all the time....now will stop for sure!!! :)

What a hidden gem this little store is! The owner is warm, friendly and very helpful. The fish are all in beautiful health. The betta display is awesome. Filtered little tubs with moving water and happy active fish. I was just going to look around but couldn't pass up grabbing one of those bettas! I will be going back again when it's time for other fish. The supplies were all reasonably priced and even less expensive than the big box stores. I'm a very happy customer. ☺
