They often have toro and other hard to find stuff, and they have a ton of fish that's good for sushi and sashimi. Regularly available: sushi grade salmon & maguro tuna, swordfish, snapper, cod, jumbo shrimp, mussels, branzino (a bass), sole, skate, smelts, cherrystones, crab, shrimp, periwinkle, lobster, squid, tobiko, and sea scallops; assorted, complementary ingredients are on the shelves (seaweed wrappers, rice, Kalamata olives, cheeses, and other miscellanea). One would be challenged to fully describe the delight of this place.

I was making a bouillabaisse as a gift for my mother's birthday and I needed fish bones and parts to make a stock. Bouillabaisse is virtually 100% based on how good the soup bar is, so this is crucial. I live south of Boston and after calling a dozen fresh fish markets, this was the only place I could get what I needed. Why? Apparently no one cuts their own fish anymore. I had to drive nearly an hour to find a place that cuts their own fish.. What the... Anyways.. They have a great selection of seafood that changes all the time. I called ahead and was able to get several varieties ready to be picked up the next day. It took me 3 days to make the stock and I had no idea how it would turn out. When we all ate it, everyone was floored and agreed the broth was the key. So if you want a place that really does fish, this is one of the few left. Fortunately they are great!

They are my go-to for fresh fish and seafood. Aside for a good variety and skilled preparation, they also holds hard to find Italian and Asian products (such as typo 00 flour, passata... And then real wasabi paste, etc). Their sushi grade tuna is fantastic. Prices are moderate, but you can get a bargain sometimes.

Great stuff, great service, great prices. My girlfriend dropped her wallet outside the store and without the assistance of the store staff and owner she would not have got it back. This is an old-fashioned business that just gets it. I can't imagine giving our business to anyone else. The fact that they have the best seafood in town is only part of their story.

Oh how I miss this place. I moved away and have had trouble finding the quality of fish and great service. I would always go here to get fish for sushi. I told some friends about this place and they have had great experiences as well. The hours are great for picking up stuff after work (ask for ice to keep the fish cold). I moved again and I found an good place in North Providence which reminded me of New Deal. But realistically, New Deal is one of a kind!

I enter this shop just for curiosity in 2007 - I was living close by and wanted to prepare fish for dinner. Today, 11 years later, I still buy my fish there - and I am not living that close anymore.
