I would have given negative stars if I could have. This is are second time here we thought we would give it another try bc we thought we ordered wrong last time. Nope the food is that bad. It's all looked great but no taste. We got mussels, clams and scallops. Scallops were good. The mussles and clams were not good. I got the Burger came with lettuce, tomato and red onions and fries. Fries were good. My husband got the crab cake. It was uneditable no taste what so ever. This location will not be open long and the Chester town location closed already..this place is off the list for good. Oh and the hightoo table chair made the back of my legs black because It was dirty. Horrible

Tasty food with a phenomenal view. I attended a catered event in the party room and every single dish was exquisite. The view as the sun set over the bay really was amazing. There is an accessible deck surrounding the party room where you can go out for some fresh air and enjoy the scenery. Friendly staff, clean facilities, great view.

I had gotten a 25.00 gift card put it back and for got about it. So I found it and decided to try it out. Was really disappointed that they said the gift card was expired and would not use it. It is there own gift card with a picture of the restaurant. The food and service was good.

I remember going to the granary years ago when the food, the service and the atmosphere were top notch. My sole experience post the "fishwhistle" change was the other side of the coin. We went in for an early Saturday dinner. One other table was seated. We were seated with a great view by the window, on a table that rocked so hard it would make you seasick. My wife noticed food under the table which our waiter identified as fish and chips from the last diner. Started by ordering drinks, I ordered Stella which arrived quickly enough however the glass I requested took an additional 15 minutes. My family ordered their entrees, and I ordered mine. I rolled the dice on a special for the day, and must have thrown snake eyes. I had the stuffed flounder with crab meat. It came with a choice of vegetables, carrots or spinach. I can't tolerate candied carrots so spinach it was. First I've never had fish with so many bones, ugh. The with crab meat alluded to five or six raisin sized morsels of crab in a sauce so thin it could have been white brine. Oh and of course accompanied by a healthy serving of candied carrots. I reminded our "waiter" at that point I had asked for spinach. He apologized for the mistake and promptly returned 30 minutes later with my spinach while we had all finished our entrees. I was still hungry as a result of not finishing my boney fish soup so spinach was going to have to suffice. The spinach was a nightmare as well. So salty as to be inedible and so loaded with garlic that I'm safe from vampire attacks for eternity. Our "waiter" sensing my disgust offered comped desserts which I declined but my wife and daughter accepted. I wasn't going to chance food poisoning at that point. When preparing to depart our waiter must have noticed his less than 20 percent tip when he reminded me he gave us comped desserts... The nerve. I've had better meals at McDonald's. The date of my experience was June 16th 19 in case there is any question what was on the "special" menu that day.

I love this place because it is big and has an incredibly view of the river and the bay. Service is good and brunch is also a good alternative on Sundays with low prices, around 15/20 USD per person.

Server was rude, My Daughter had to ask if they were going to serve us bread with our dinner as all the other tables came after us, Yet receive there's took longer for her to return to our table as dinner was served we had to ask the hostess that served part of our meal for the bread to go with it she was kind and helpful and our waitress was more helpful to her regular clientel and friendly food again was ok most of my plate was about a large bags worth of French fries over all I did leave a good tip considering the service was terrible and rude the rest of my family said food was ok nothing to brag about but they did like desert also was very rushed out of our seats not much compassion over all I'd give it ** for the effort The area is beautiful view from a window even better otherwise, Nothing like that place use to be food wise, or staff. fyi to the waitress server if you were not in the mood to work last night or don't like your job ! There are always other options or could you at least handle it a bit more professional misserable attitude thank you but no thank you I myself won't be back.

I have to say that our server Sheila made our night complete though with her attentiveness and personal touches. She was so personable and down to earth. Umm I’d just like to say that my overall experience was horrible. The only reason this place got 2 stars was because of the brownie sundae desert. Our waiter did not give us bread, we did not have a plant nor center piece on our table. My sisters crab cake was clearly rotten or old. It took forever just to get our drinks. I chocked on the Mac in Cheese. It was horrible and I don’t think I will ever go to the fish whistle at the granary again. I hated it. >:c

The food was excellent! I had the half and half crab soup and it was amazing!! Then got the crab cake with sweet potato waffle fries and all was delicious! Our server Andrew was very attentive and took excellent care of us! It was a beautiful view and our whole experience was perfect! Will definitely come back again!

Crabcakes, Steaks, Fresh Fish, Tacos, Salmon are all Amazing. Cant beat the view or waitstaff. Were on our way to Schaeffer's Canal House, got stuck at the drew bridge and saw the Granary out of the corner of our eye and immediately fell in love with the outside. Stopped in and enjoyed everything. Recommend 100%. We will be back...with friends. Also has a great history and free dockage.

We found this place thru a Living Social deal. First the positives... The restaurant has quite a view! Just gorgeous from every table in the dining room! We caught the sunset and it was beautiful over the water. There was no wait in the restaurant and the waiter took our order quickly. For an appetizer, my husband ordered the ceasar salad and I ordered the steak and cheese eggs rolls. Both were tasty. The egg rolls warre filled with very tasty steak. Now the negatives... The menu could have been more diverse. For our entrees, my husband ordered the chicken parmesan and I ordered the double crabcakes and sucotash. Neither of us were impressed. For $34, the crabcakes were small and just tasted okay. I'm used to lump crabcakes and these were not. My husband's meal was bland and not well seasoned. The ladies restroom, while clean looking, need updates and had a bad smell. We will not be back. The food is highly overpriced for the low quality.

Twelve of us went to The Granary after kayaking the Sassafras River. It is nicely decorated and clean. Nice views of the marina. A good variety of food and drink offerings. I had the fish and chips which was very good and large portioned. The salads and other dishes looked good and everyone seemed to have a good time. Service was OK They were a bit slow in getting started and also in getting our checks processed on the way out. I would go back if I was in the area.

Nice place with a great view! Located on the water, The Granary has something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. This is a worthwhile drive, not far from Delaware or jumping off 95 when heading south toward Baltimore or D.C. Decent food and decent service. Worth the trip!

I read all the compliments and criticisms before we went and they were all over the place and we did not know what to expect. We heard from friends how good this place was. Well...we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. Our wives ordered the Trout and both said it was excellent and would come back. My buddy and I ordered the prime rib and it was equally excellant. We will certainly be back. The service was excellent as well, our server, Hunter was efficient and had a great sense of humour. The view of the river and an Osprey nest was just outside the restaurant with a fledgling Osprey and an adult in the nest just added to the experience.

The Granary has joined forces with The Fishwhistle, formerly located in Chestertown, Md. The Granary sits on the Sassafras River & you have an awesome view from any seat in the restaurant or bar. The service is outstanding & the food is the very definition of delicious!!! The staff are all very friendly & helpful. The restaurant is good for all ages. The restaurant is also very spacious. For a handicapped person the walk up the concrete ramp to the front door is not an easy one. However, they do have handicap parking at the bottom of the ramp. You can also be dropped off at the top of the ramp. My partner & I both ordered the same thing. We had halibut with lump crabmeat in a butter sauce. It came with wild rice & carrots. Everything was amazing!!! Then we ordered dessert. I got apple crisp, & my partner got key lime pie. They were both to die for!!! Their dinners are moderately priced and are worth every penny!!!

This is under new ownership. It is now The Fish Whistle at the Granary. Fresh new renovations inside. Many of the great menu options from the Chestertown restaurant and some new. Wonderful views of the Sassafras from the upstairs dining room. Lower dock level room is going to be for more casual bites and drinks.

The Granary recently reopened (Summer, 2013) and has established itself as a place to have a great meal. The updated menu is amazing--the biggest challenge was picking just one entree among the numerous selections I wanted to try. The beer selection is very nice, as are the desserts. The dining room is freshly updated and the views are stunning. I can't wait to go again to see the recent changes that have been made to the more casual downstairs, and to try some of the daily specials.

This is a great place and I think has the best service and food around. It was recently updated and became the Fish Whistle. I have some friends that work there and I strongly recommend taking the family or inviting some friends to have great time! I go back weekly and I wont be stopping anytime soon!

We have been several times over the years and we have always had an excellent meal with very good service! We recently went ( August) for a cozy post wedding reception/meal in a private back room that looking out over the water and we watching the sunset...it was perfect! We have eaten here MANY many times. Never had I been so disappointed as tonight. We walked in and we could see there were lots of tables available But were t old it will be an hour wait. We asked if we could sit at a table and drink since we could see there were many tables empty. She said she would have to ask her boss if she could seat us. The manager came out and said no we cannot seat you. I feel bad for the bartender. He lost a lot. I hope this is not an indication as to how the summer will go. Very disappointed . Update: decided to try again. Have been there twice and things have changed. Was like it used to be. Great service, great food and drink . Glad we gave it another shot!

The food portions are so tiny /we got charged an extra 2 dollars for 4 pieces of asparagus /the salads come out in these tiny little bowls you can't even cut the lettuce or fit your salad dressing on it.This use to be one of our favorite places to eat before new management. Really gone downhill.

The restaurant recently reopened (2013). I am local and have been several times. The food is fantastic, I have loved all of the things I have tried. Fresh ingredients and unique combinations that are delicious. Service can sometimes be a little slow, but who needs to be in a hurry when watching a beautiful sunset.
