The food was pedestrian. They coated Tuna sashimi with cajun seasoning ??? And plated it along side hot spinach, hot brown rice, sauteed mushrooms, cold seaweed salad and cold kimchee. Whose idea was this??? Our server was outstanding and so was the rest of the front of the house staff.

I have enjoyed legal seafood for years. On February 13th was my 10 year anniversary so me and my husband decided to celebrate at our favorite seafood place. I was greatly disappointed about the menu! What happened to all of the wonderful food they use to serve? My favorite food was no longer there. My husband and I was real excited about our day and to get I had to order food I was no happy with! All of the great food was gone. Legal seafood had the best fried oysters, the best baked red snapper served with this special sauce and there signature wedge salad. We made do my husband and I, but it will be a long while before I returned to legal seafood in my near future.

I love Legal Seafood not just because of their tasty food, but also their awareness of allergens. I often dine out with people who have various food allergies, and have NEVER had someone have a reaction due to food they have ordered there. This has included people with allergies to: Soy (HUGE one because of frying oil), Dairy, Wheat, Mushrooms, shellfish (Yes, at a seafood restaurant they can handle shellfish allergies) and, semi-amusingly, someone who was allergic to fish. (They ordered the chicken).

Great selection of fresh seafood, including raw oysters. Toughest thing is choosing from so many enticing options. Good bar and cocktails. Wine list is quite adequate. Service was friendly and helpful, both a good knowledge of dishes. Definitely will return.

The food was stupid good. Just ridiculous. And the atmosphere was great. And the waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes and he made our meal experience top shelf. The hostess were friendly and quickly seated a party of 10. I had the clam chowder (served to presidents on their inauguration) and a salad that was a bit too much (but I managed it...haha... it was really good).

I ordered the crab cake combo which came with grilled scallops and shrimp. It also came with a seasonal salad. Everything was delicious. The scallops were nice and tender and the shrimp had a delightful flavor. The crab cake was a sufficient size and there was very little filling. As an appetizer, I had a cup of the New England clam chowder. Overall, a delicious meal. No complaints here. The wait staff was very friendly. They even comped a cup of soup and a glass of Coke that came out a little late. Definitely plan to come back here.

My friend chose this place as her birthday dinner spot. Long story short we mentioned to the waiter our food was cold, bit we didn't want to send it back. The manager and the waiter brought us brand new plates of food, without our even knowing it . It meant a lot that they went the extra mile.!!!! The seafood was cooked to perfect!!!!!

Always great food here! I had the Cioppino (lobster, scallops, shrimp, calamari, littlenecks, mussels and whitefish in a light tomato broth) while my partner had the Signature Crab Cake Combo (one jumbo lump crab cake, grilled shrimp and scallops, mustard sauce, seasonal salad). The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. The waiter was really nice. VERY busy night, due to the Cherry Blossom Festival (40 minute wait for a table, we just went to Clyde's for a drink) But a great experience over all. Try the Clementine Sangria! The people at the front desk were a little rude though, which I thought was unusual.

Somebody used my credit card at this place and my bank immediately flagged the charge as suspicious activity. I called more than once to try and get more information but nobody was willing to cooperate. whoever answers the phone takes down my information and tells me that a manager will contact me it's been more than 10 days since then i initially contacted them and nobody has called me since I made another attempt today and was told that I manager will call me and it's been 7 hours and nobody has called.

Came for our 20th anniversary as my wife last had their crab cakes in 2008/9 in Boston and loved them so much I made our anniversary trip around where we could visit and have Legal Seafood again. Crab cakes did not disappoint for her. I enjoyed the crab cake combo and salad that was part of dinner and Maryland crab bisque, however they served it with the meal vs ahead. My daughter liked their stuffed shrimp. The desserts left us wanting something more as the cheesecake was not the best, key lime needed more lime or citrus flavor, and the chocolate cake dessert was Ok, per my wife. The bathrooms were a 0 out of 10 as it took three bathroom to find one that was not overflowing or coated in toilet paper. Very neglected area.

My first time at this Legal Seafood. The food was great. The bowl of clam chowder was more like a cup size but taste texture ingredients all excellent. I had a crab cake. Came with salad and broccoli. Very lovely. Service was not perfect but not bad. Convenient location near the basketball arena.

I've been wanting to try this place since hearing about the gluten-free options. I highly recommend it. Good food, good service. Nearly everything on the menu can be made gluten-free. They even bring gluten-free rolls and ensure there's no cross-contamination. Will definitely try the one in Atlanta as it's closer to me.

Came here for happy hour, and sat at the bar with some friends. The seafood platter is a steal! The seafood platter comes with shrimps, oysters, clams, and lobster. The platter is reasonably priced too, that I had to order a second one! All of the items on the platter were tasty and fresh, and it tasted flavorful with the cocktail sauce. I would definitely come back to order the seafood platter again.

Awesome. I wish I knew my waiters name. He had a short squared off black kind of goatee beard coming from his chin. He was average height with a slim build. Can't say enough good things about him. He knew the perfect balance of how much to keep coming back to the table to check on things without interrupting my conversation with my dinner companion. Perfect speaking voice, well groomed, knowledge of the menu, professional and on and on. Food was awesome too. Wonderful atmosphere. Busy downtown DC location.

The clam chowder is unbelievable. So is the Lobster roll and the dessert. Came in for lunch and was impressed by the interiors. Would love to drop by here at night and check out the bar scene. Service was impeccable and the staff was quite friendly and super efficient. She gave us suggestions for our meal and so far everything came out the way she said it would be. Overall a great lunch experience for me and our group.

Excellent cream of crab soup. The new England clam chowder is also delicious. The one thing I have to point out though is the bowl is what everyone else calls a cup. Too small. Their crab cakes are really good. The place is elegant, right across Capital One Arena and Clyde's. Very good location nearby the Gallery Place metro station. Server was attentive and professional.

I did not have the best experience here. Hostesses were polite and we had a reservation so we were sat pretty much exactly on time. They brought waters and bread almost immediately and shortly after our waitress came by for drinks. ( I can't have bread so it would've been nice to have some alternative to munch on but that's neither here nor there). She was eccentric, which is fine, but not at all discreet. After my table ordered drinks, I asked her several questions about menu items because of my dietary needs (which I listed for her). The answers weren't that helpful and by the end of it my whole table was involved and I think everyone in the vicinity could hear as well. When I said "I can't have" it turned into "she doesn't want". She had stopped directly addressing me and was now having a conversation about me with my table even though I was sitting right there. I finally got around to asking cooking questions like "how is the spinach prepared? What do they put in it?". The answer I got was "oh, there's no cheese in it". Cheese isn't even something I mentioned as a dietary concern. At this point I'm flustered because it's clear she just wants me to hurry up so she can get to her next table. I ended up ordering grilled shrimp with broccoli and spinach. The cocktails didnt look appetizing, the mojitos had rotten mint leaves, and I was told they didn't taste that great. Everyone's shrimp was way overdone, spinach underdone, and broccoli was cooked well but bland. I already felt uncomfortable and I was starving so I just ate it all anyways. Not at all what I expected to get given the prices and the hype. It gets better...within an hour of leaving the restaurant, you guessed it, I became very ill and my 30 something dollar dinner is now in the toilet. It hasn't even been 24 hrs and I'm still ill which is why I decided to write a review. I did my due diligence and studied the menu before arriving to dinner last night. My questions were prepared and targeted to specific dishes that could mostly fit my dietary needs. The breakdown was the waitress who didn't take the time to take me seriously and work with me discreetly to address my needs. I don't plan on returning.

Compared to how she treated the guest on either side of us. She seemed to be much more friendly to them. We don't like to think it was because of how we were dressed. Jeans & sneakers. My meal from Legal Sea Foods was delicious. I had oysters to start with which were awesomely flavorful. My entree was the lobster tail with potatoes and instead of broccoli I did sauteed spinach. I was vacationing from Cleveland, Ohio so I can't eat there regularly as I would like but the next time I'm in that area I'll definitely return to Legal Sea Foods! Lastly it looks beautiful inside. Legal Sea Foods does not disappoint. We were quite sad when the Bethesda location closed and haven't been able to enjoy fresh delicious seafood since then. We were thrilled to find the DC location just minutes away from the museum we were visiting. The chef's haddock special was superb and my daughter's grilled shrimp platter was just as good. The place is quiet cozy and big. They weren't busy at the time we went and we made reservations so we didn't habe to wait too long. They're menu was simple although if they're a fine dining they might want to have their menu in a book instead of a laminate. The food was a good portion, what i like the best the assortment choice of 3 fish woth scallops and shrimp. Very filling dish. The stuffed shrimp was good as well although a little oily, i like their breadcrumbs mix. The staff was nice and approachable. Overall, a good place to eat if you like seafood. A little expensive.

Love Legal Sea Foods but last night was horrible. Carb cakes and cat fish gumbo were over salted. Sent crab cakes back when another bite couldn't be had. Was told salt levels couldn't be adjusted. Ordered the snapper that was smelly before it reached the table. Super rank. No amount of lemon could save it. Birthday bust! Celebration dashed. How disappointing. Must have new chef.

I always make a point to stop at any Legal Seafood I find while I travel. I am never disappointed.

Legal Seafood is always good and reasonable but the ones in Boston just seem to be the best for some reason! Maybe since they are the originals?!
