So I have delt with this store a few times over the years. Difficult to work with, no returns and mostly an unpleasent experiance. I had a 40 Gal. Reef tank back then. I recently wanted to upgrade to a 65. I spoke with Bucky who seemed very helpful and eager to help. He answered my questions and this led me to research more on the direction I wanted to go as far as set up was concerned. I intially got prices from him that were in line with other Stores and higher than other stores. I was not getting the type service I expected from the other guys after doing business with them for years so I decided to try Tropical Fish Bowl and give Bucky a chance. He came down some on his pricing and knew I was shopping around on the internet. I Gave him a $300.00 deposit and asked him to order a new Deep Sea Aquatics 65 gal reef ready tank. He insisted on selling me the floor model (open dirty and had items placed inside) even after I advised him I would like a new tank in the manufactures packaging. I decided to do more research and ordered all other items for the build online due to budget restraints. When I arrived at the store he did not know who I was. The employees were arrogant and snobish. He came down on the stand wich had cosmetic damage on it. I decided at last minute to purchase. After learning that I purchased all the items on line he raised the price on the tank and the plumbing kit from his original quote. He was less than friendly and rude. I would think being a place of business he would have been happy to take my $574.00 more dollars (total purchase was over $800.00) and thanked me for the purchase and asked if there was anything he could do to help just come in or call. He was angry because I purchased other items online after he quoted me his prices. I never got the Tank in the manufactures packaging and dont believe he ordered it as he stated. The plumbing kit had a elbow with stripped thread. He said 3 weeks to replace. I have never been so angry and felt lied to. I told him to refund my deposit and he said there would be a 20% restocking fee....For what??? I had not taken anything out of the store and the only thing ordered was the plumbing kit which he said he needed anyway. I angrily and reluctantly purchased the tank, stand and plumbing kit. After Bucky and another employe loaded the tank and stand in my truck, They stated in a snobish condensending manner " hope it works out for you". It will and has in the past very succesfully!! If Bucky would have been more understanding and friendly he would have gotten the remainder of my needed items....Live rock, water, macro algea, and whatever acessories I may have needed. NOPE!!!! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH TROPICAL FISH BOWL!!!!!!! RUDE, ARROGANT, UNPROFESSIONAl. THE STORE IS CRAMPED AND UNORGANIZED.HIGH PRICES. THE FISH LOOK SICK AND THE CORAL IS SUBSTANDARD.

I've never had a problem here, although everything i've ever purchased from them has been relatively inexpensive and i've never had to return anything yet. Very helpful over the phone with minor fish ailments etc. Best in the Lafayette area so far, although i do wish the store itself was a little bigger :)

They have the worst customer service ever. The employees are very rude. I have spent over $1500 buying things from them. I spent $600 buying a light and all the things to put inside a sump. I bought the same exact sump online but for $50 cheaper and they couldn’t tell me what kind of water to put in it because I didn’t buy it from them. However they told me everything I needed and what to get before I even bought everything to build the sump. So they basically said that after all the money I spent with them and countless things I have bought, including everything that goes inside the sump, that they couldn’t tell me what kind of water to put in a damn box with dividers because I didn’t buy it from them. Yeah not spending my money there anymore.

I use to buy a number of items from from here (blow fish things for my tanks and ponds). But I usually order some maintenance gear from amazon and I have a pretty steady ecosystem so I haven't needed to come here in more than a year. But after my experience today I will never buy from them again. We bought a 60$ filtration system for an 80gal tank (one of 2 filters we have on the tank rated for 100gal tanks). After 1 week the filter motor burnt out (it was never run dry and I know what I am doing....I have 1 pond and 3 tanks). I don't know if the filter was defective or if they refurbished an old filter and sold it as new....but either way when we went to return it they basically accused us of running the filter dry or not knowing how to set up a filter and tried to get out of replacing the filter. Note I'm an experienced tank owner with multiple tanks and even the same filter used on a tank....these people were insulting and shady. ...do not buy from them

Wish I would have went elsewhere. Paid over $1000. They set up the tank. They didn't worry about getting the ph right or setting up the $300 filter right. Started dealing with the pet store in Scott. Guy came out to my house for free and fixed the filter and got my water like I needed it. Very disappointed.
