I went in about an hour before they closed, the owner was really helpful and patient. Matt provided some useful suggestions based on what kind of livestock I already had. He also provided a list of existing and upcoming specials. Their livestock options were great (lots of corlas with rarer colorations.) I would recommend to friends and family.

One of the most costliest place to get corals from but has a lot of different types to chose from. I would say this is a place for someone with a very large established tank and not someone looking to start their hobby. Edit: After being in this hobby for a year now, I feel more confident buying my corals/livestock at a little extra cost(which I have learnt is part of keeping a saltwater tank) from Reef Rack as I have experienced a high success rate on the items purchased here. The owners of this place are very welcoming and you are almost certain to come back just for that one reason.

This is the best saltwater store in the area and perhaps the Midwest. Matt and the staff will bend over backwards to ensure you are taken of and that you will be set up for success. I refuse to go to any other store to get my fish and coral. If you are a reef geek and have not been to this place, stop what you’re doing and leave now!

If I started up a fish store it would look a lot like reef rack. Lots of great corals growing and lots of great customer service. They don't have the deepest inventory of fish usually, but quality over quantity. The store is actually well staffed and you'll be able to find the help and advice you need. The corals they keep are amazing and just fun to go see on their own.

Everything was great until the end.My wife and I was visiting KC on mothers day weekend and she said she wanted to visit the reef rack and pick her out something special for her mothers day present.We stopped by and they had a sale going and and we thought great.She spent about and hour looking for her coral she wanted and found 2 pieces she liked then found a really nice and (expensive)one also.we told the young lady what we wanted and asked her if we could pay for them and they could hold them till we returned before they closed to get them package for our travel back home since we live in the other side of the state and she said "NO PROBLEM" Well when I returned to pick up our items she had a shocked look on her face and started to apologize.She goes on to tell me that the one (expensive) item my wife really wanted had been sold and all the other frags like it were sold also.I said "so our coral that we paid for and was being held was sold out from under us"She responded with "yes" but we could pick out 2 lesser value items or a refund for the sold item.I took the refund and had to return to my wife and tell her what happened.needles to say she was not happy nor was I. We are very disappointed as we have watched the auctions online and were excited to be able to visit their location when we visited Kc.
