I've been going to the Cedar Valley Fish Market for the past 40 years ever since it was in downtown Waterloo and then in the present loction with my Dad and my Grandfather, both have past away and going for all you can eat fish brought back good memories, but after tonight I will never go back again. The new owners don't have a clue. We walked in the front door around 720 PM and immediately an employee yelled at us "we're done with all you can eat fish, you can order other things but not all you can eat". This was in front of the entire restaurant and the hole place turned and looked at us. It was embarrassing to say the least. This was the first Friday of Lent and I've probably been there 40 plus times with my dad, he just passed away in Oct and now this place is dead to me. My Dad dying really hit me hard tonight, i really miss the old owners and my Dad.

Although the outside of the restaurant may give some reservations about going in, those who do will be met by the most gracious staff. The food is always excellent (especially the trout and baked beans)! If you arent sure what to order the staff will be more than happy to assist you. The prices couldn't get much lower than this either. I am sad I no longer live around Waterloo to visit this awesome hidden gem. Do not miss out on a chance to eat here!

Drove by here on a Friday night and lots of cars in the parking area. Came back in 20 minutes, went inside (place was empty). I commented how busy they were 20 minutes ago and the person at the cash register said "I can tell why because we close in 20 minutes and you can't get the "all you can eat" because we are shutting the fryers down. If you order in the next five minutes we can serve you. Hmm.....not feeling very welcomed. We chose to leave. If you don't want to serve food up to 8 o'clock don't have your sign say OPEN.

I've been going to this place for over 30 years. Always was so good and fresh. Didn't matter if you ate there or took fresh fish home to fry. Haven't been there for a few years. Order two meals to go. OMG that was the worse tasting food ever. Paid good money for the meals. The fish was soggy. The fries were so under cooked. They were soggy limpy and uneatable. The beans was mashed and gross. So sweet tasting that you could not eat them. I'm so disappointed in our meals. We ended up throwing the fish out for the cats to eat. Then the rest in the garbage. Why do restaurants in the cedar valley go down wards that when growing up was the best places to eat. Worst place to eat fish. Is there any way we can get a refund for food we purchased that couldn't be ate? Then had to order from another place so we could eat dinner.

Great staff, fast service, an really yummy food my girlfriend an i love it try to go about once a week. Wendsdays are great the special is a perch sandwitch fries an a pop for a little under 10$ an it fills you up. I think its cool you can also buy fish there aswell.. Thay have some really good mushrooms an always a smile on everyones face.

This has been a family run fish market and restaurant since I was a kid (1960's). Now run by two brothers. Good food for excellent price and we still can enjoy looking at all the fresh and frozen fish in the display case like we did as children. Grandpa is the only nonfish eater but he enjoyed a half pound burger and fries for $4.50 that he raved over. Good family place but nothing fancy.
