I just bought bay scallops from Kona Jack fish market few days ago. I was intimidated at first by how expensive it cost and how much I don't really smell fishy environment. 10 large pieces of bay scallops would generate about 1 pounds and that would cost $29.00, tax-free. I brought it home hours after I bought it covered with a bag of ice. Didn't cook it until 2 days ago. It was totally delish! The quality is definitely there. They don't smell fishy-bad, which is a bonus. Downside, everything is so expensive but totally worth your top-rated quality experience.

This is one of my favorite, locally-owned restaurants! Have eaten here over 20 years. The fish is always, always fresh. Tonight my server was Mercedes, and she gave superb service. The house salad with soy ginger dressing is yummy, as is the chocolate cake. My mixed drink was made exactly right. I highly recommend locally-owned and loved Kona Jacks/ Daddy Jacks, on the north side of Indianapolis, south of I-465 on the east side of Meridian Street. Yummy, Yummy!

I love this place. Great food, sushi selection, daily sushi specials, and awesome aquariums throughout. Really friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Fantastic fresh fish available at their fish market... the mussels are my favorite. Fun to sit at the high top counter and watch the chefs make sushi also. Kid friendly, great for large groups or date night. Outside seating available as well!!

Kona Jack's is the real deal. I've been going off n on to Kona's for almost 30 years now and it's like they have never skipped a step. Always very delicious, great staff, and nice locale. We lived in Westfield for 20 years and many people like Kona Grill and get the two confused but I don't. Kona Jack's always better option for me. They are now getting some nice gluten free options that work nicely for my wife. Our oldest son ordered a second full entree of the sushi loving it so much for recent visit for my birthday! Kona Never disappoints!

Did not have a good experience at all this time. I have been to Kona Jacks well over a half dozen times and haven’t had any issues. On this visit, on Wednesday 5/9, I ordered the Mt. Fuji roll. As I started to eat my sushi, the shrimp on top seemed to not have the normal texture. While dissecting my shrimp I found out that none of the shrimp on top of my roll had been deveined, shelled or any of the tails taken off. The meat of the shrimp was very minimal and everything seemed to be chopped up and fried up and put on top of the roll. I asked our waiter and he said “this is normal and how the roll is supposed to be prepared” I’m sorry, but I do not like eating the scraps of shrimp, it was flat out disgusting. It ruined my sushi taste buds and I have no desire for sushi for a while.

Not particularly impressive. We sat near the bar and listened to the waitstaff complian about life the entire time we were there. Food was not good. It was adequate at best. Not really a sushi restaurant either. They serve it but if your after good sushi look elsewhere, as it's more of an afterthought then a specialty. It's a bland seafood restaurant frequented by blue hairs. Had none of the elegance or charm of a Japanese restaurant. We ordered oysters from the raw bar and they were really bad too. Yes, I know central Indiana isn't exactly a seafood mecca, but there are plenty of chain restaurants with better seafood.

The black and blue ahi tuna under Specialty Rolls was fantastic!!! We also had the seared Chilean sea bass and Asian ahi tuna entrees. Our friends had tilapia meuniere and the cashew salmon stir fry. Everyone was satisfied. The server was Keith and he was attentive and fun. Great experience!

Too expensive for basic food. Green beans looked like they had been in a steam table all day. Fish was overcooked. Our table was sticky. The chairs are too low for the table height. The tables had a large high base making it hard to find a comfortable place to put your feet.

So, I ordered the crazy tuna roll, it was described as a spicy roll which spicy tuna at any sushi place is my favorite. However, when I was given the sushi and I ate it, it was extremely bland. Like, no flavor; not sour, sweet, salty, or anything. I tried another roll and still nothing. So I used the sauce provided and basically had to drown the fish in sauce for any flavor which was disappointing. When the server asked how I liked it, I expressed to her that I was expecting it to be a spicy roll as it was described in the menu. She was very sweet and I was just expecting to pay for my roll and be on my way. When she came back she told me to not worry about the bill but when I come back to try some other rolls that were more like I described. The customer service and atmosphere is wonderful, I hope to come back and try the spicy rolls she was telling me about.

The food was fabulous and the service was superb! We had a large party (15 people). They were on top of getting our orders out within a reasonable amount of time and keeping our drinks filled. We ordered sushi, clams, shrimp, and various delicious varieties of fish. It all came out cooked just right! They do not skimp on the alcohol of their cocktails, which I appreciate! We LOVE Kona Jacks! Cannot say enough good things about it.

I always order one of the same few rolls in the sushi side of the restaurant. The thing is, it's SO good, but it's also SO expensive. I get it, Indiana has very few sushi places that are on the low-cost side, but one roll is not enough for anyone but a child or a super model, so it'd be nice if I didn't have to spend $30 with a tip to have 2 rolls at lunch! That being said, the rolls are bigger than most other sushi locations and are really tasty. The staff is mostly nice and great!

I walked in and the hostess and servers on the restaurant side greeted me and were polite. I went to the sushi side to order and the waiter (S. Kenny) looked at me when I asked if I could order to go with him and stated..."Are you off the phone now, are you finally finished with your conversation?" I found that to be quite rude especially because I placed my call on hold in order to give the server my undivided attention respectfully. My sushi looked wonderful but the customer service aspect made me lose my appetite for the night. I am not his child, wife/partner or mother and does not expect treatment like that especially after approaching him with the uttmost respect. I once worked as a server and always treated my customers with respect. Maybe a training in professionalism and customer service will be beneficial for Mr. Kenny.

Their fish dishes are amazing and their sushi is fairly good. The service is friendly, attentive, and helpful. I have had better sushi at most Japanese Steakhouses, but I have also had far worse. If you want to go out for sushi, I wouldn't necessarily pick Kona Jack's, but if you want some good sushi to go along with your amazing seafood dinner, then this is your place.

I stop by here every once and awhile to pick up some fresh salmon for dinner. They always have a great selection of seafood, if they don't have some particular, you can always request it and they'll have it within a couple of days. As far as a restaurant goes, I've only had their poached salmon with bbq glaze on rice pilaf. it is perfect every time!

The decor was cheesy enough that I was doubtful when I first came in. There wasn't a lot of people. When we sat down the server was very friendly, which was a nice surprise. It was good service. The appetizer came out, and despite not usually liking fish I found myself indulging with enjoyment while my family egged me on. When the main dishes came they stopped... Because they were too busy stuffing their faces! It was all very good, from what I heard. Everyone stole a bit from everyone else to share the enjoyment. We ended bringing some back for the people left at home! I would recommend it if you have enough time for a sit-down! They mostly sell fish but I saw a burger and fish on the menu for those who don't like it.

Rarely do I write negative reviews. Have been eating at Kona Jack's Fish Market for a long time. Love seafood and it is the only fish market close to my home. Our overly confident waitress read off the specials and I asked her for more information on the "seafood medley". She explained it was teriyaki stirfry with seafood. I questioned further as to what seafood was included and she stated shrimp, scallops, white fish. NOT SO - only white fish (mushy end pieces at that). VERY disappointed with entree. She went to check with her manager and she had it wrong - medley of white fish only. Period. I was a disappointed customer and she did not offer to make my dish good in any way. ie, courteous dessert or n/c for my entree. I felt like I was not treated like a good customer - 4 of us the bill came to $110 sans tip. It is the little things that really make the difference in the end. No more Kona Jack's Fish Market for me!

First the restuarant smelled horrible . It smelled like rotting fish . I ordered the seared ahi tacos . They were not even tacos . It was platted like a enchilada . The tuna was not seared it was cooked all the way through . If you know anything about tuna ... if it is coooked well done it is absolutly horrible . It is to be served at a temp of rare with a light sear . I am a executive chef and am not a picky eater and only write bad reviews if it can help someone to avoid a bad experience . Dont eat here if at all possible !!

Fantastic! Food was amazing. Service was good as well. This side of the restarunt is more casual than Daddy Jack's but it was still great- just a different feel! Highly recommended. I had the Black and Bleu Ahi Tuna plate. It was out of this world good. Served on top of asparagus and topped with belu cheese and bruschetta mix, and a side of white rice. Filling and yummy!

Disappointed to say it was a very poor experience. One of our dishes was very over seasoned and the fish was chewy. We told the waiter about it and he said he had the perfect substitute in mind and brought out gumbo with rice. The gumbo was horrible as well. So when we see the waiter again he brings the check and said sorry that you did not have any luck on the dishes, and billed us for both. Roughly $40 in food that sat untouched and tasted terrible. Will not return again and would not recommend.

The restaurant presents a Hawaii based theme with food designed to represent Hawaii culture. For the most part it doesn't disappoint although a restaurant in the middle of Indianapolis cannot achieve a true Hawaii menu. The food is good and is matched by quick service. Took the entire family there for dinner and everyone ordered the Chilean Seabass, especially after the waitress told us how good it is. I am a connoisseur on Patagonia Toothfish (aka Chilean Seabass) and have had it a many fine restaurants around the country.. This Seabass was the WORST that I have ever had. It tasted old, frozen and overcooked. The so called sauce with some kind of vegetable on top was piss poor. My wife sent hers back, because she could not even eat it. The manager never came out to see what the problem was, and evidently did not really care.. We will NEVER return to this rotten restaurant. Eat there at your own risk..

We had the best waiter. He was attentive and shook our hands when we left. I ordered the Skuna Bay salmon which was amazing. It came with 2 sides. I got a boring iceberg lettuce side salad with only 1 tomato slice and the mixed veggies, which were steamed, flavorless, and only broccoli with 1 carrot. I should have gotten the baked potato. I wanted tuna, but the only meal they had was spicy Thai tuna. I don't know why restaurants these day have to make their tuna Thai flavored. I nice blackened tuna is so good. They sat us in the one table that was in the path. The path to the bathroom. The path to the kitchen. It was awful. Everyone in the restaurant passed by our table the whole time we were there for our anniversary dinner. I wasn't impressed. It wasn't worth it, for what we paid.

Love this Hawaiian hotspot! Really fresh sashimi and fish. I'm from the Pacific islands and the sashimi combo was very fresh and full of flavor! Just like back home!
