I love this small neighborhood establishment. Great fish and shrimp. My personal fave is a half pound of fried fish nuggets, some hush puppies and their kidney bean salad. They also have a great fish sandwich.

A great mom and pop business. They have smoked fish ,salmon, sturgeon ,whitefish and sable. Great fried shrimp and fish. If you need gourmet they have various novelties tools spices. The lines fly in this store so don't fret if you see its packed. Grab a number and prepare for a great seafood experience.

Went in for the cheese curds. I also ordered calamari. I hate to say this but it was horrible it was soggy slimy. It wasn't even edible. Other than that I love Hagens customer service is always wonderful. And I've never had anything bad before.

I have been coming to Hagens since I was a kid, but now that I'm an adult I definitely appreciate it way more! Their shrimp is the best in the world and their Italian sea food salad could probably end wars. If you have any doubts about then don't. Just go.

The fries were cold. This place is too far from my house to get home before the gets cold. Plus the food is too salty. But the food is worth the drive. I just wish we could eat there.

Great old fish store. Seafood is fresh. They will cook it up for take out. Love there fish chips. They will also smoke your own catch. Really cool. They are a tad bit pricey, but still a very mice place with friendly staff.

I've been wanting to stop at Hagen's for a long time and I finally made it in yesterday. I had always heard good thing and I must say it surpassed my already good expectations. We ordered smoked sturgeon, smoked candied salmon and fried shrimp and everything was great. The salmon was amazing and I give it an A++! I will definitely be back!

I’ve come here many times for smoked fish. I know they sell prepared and fried foods but the smoked fish is what I come for. I don’t know where else you’d go to find similar products and they surely wouldn’t be at this quality. When I get a hankering for kedgeree this is my destination. Highly recommended.

The best place in Chicago on the north side to get friend fish there a line always but it moves quickly, friendly staff always smiling very nice which is a huge plus these days my favorite is jumbo shrimp i have tried the entire menu no complaints, been a customer for decades most important is they stay consistent

One of the last great fish houses around. There food actually has some flavor, NOT like all these other places were there food taste watered down and all taste the same. Reminds me of Joe's Fishery that used to be on Armitage and Ashland in Chicago.

Amazing family owned fish market! No one compares to their fish chips and shrimp no place at all. Every time we go to the city we make a special detour just for Hagen's. Every month we stop there frequently and they have the best homemade batter ever! Living all the way in the suburbs I have no issue driving there just for their fish chips and shrimp it's so addicting!

You can never ever ever go wrong at this place. Gourmet root beer or cream soda, tater tots (they always ask if you want your fried sides salted.), honey from neighborhood bees(how cool and support local biz can u get) and super fresh salads are compliments to the fish. Ya gotta get the shrimp. Just repeat out of this world shrimp. And drool over the candied smoked salmon. This place will make you eat fish everyday and never get bored. Great!

Love Hagen’s! It’s an unassuming little fish market off Montrose but if you ever find yourself in the neighborhood do yourself a favor and get their hush puppies, fried catch of the day, and the BBQ smoked salmon. You also won’t regret some crab salad. Wow. Being from the Pacific Northwest I mourn not being near the ocean and the perk of fish at every shop corner but Hagen’s has given me hope for the fish lovers trapped in Midwest!

The fried shrimp and cod aren't batter dipped as much as they are bread crumby. Not my preference, but that is just personal taste. The shrimp were possibly the freshest shrimp I ever had and very tasty. We sat out front at some old Cafe tables and plastic chairs. Not a classy place, but clean and laden will the history. They are the only remaining old style smoke house for fish. And they will smoke your turkey or whatever for you. I would go back.

Interesting place where they serve they serve a combination of fresh, frozen and prepared seafood. They also carry seafood friendly spices and condiments. Some recipe cards are available. We.had fried fish and fried cheese curds which were both tasty. There is a small parking lot and a fee no frills tables in front during nice weather.

Been living in the area now for a couple years. Had always heard great things about Hagen's but hadn't checked them out until a couple weeks ago. And man, had I been missing out! Tons of fresh fish several of which are smoked onsite and a selection of frozen fish. Saw whole octopus there last week. The market itself shelves quite a few complimentary items and things you won't normally find in your local Jewel. Then top it off with a delicious fish sandwich and some onion rings from their lunch menu and I'm hooked!

In terms of their seafood, I only go there because they have lutefisk. It seems like I am one of the only ones that ask for it, but I haven't found another place in Chicago that sells it. The rest of their seafood looks good, and it is always a popular place when I go.

I bought snow crab leg, they were the biggest snow crab legs I've ever seen. They were sweet, fresh and full of meat. Not to mention they were only$14.99lb. I got about 4lbs... and my trip would not be complete without me getting some candy salmon...try it guys its so darn good
