Stopped here after a day of discovering another part of the BIG island. We were able to hit their happy hour. Great deals on drinks and small bites. The food is very good. Makes us want to come back, for sure.
Rich foods. Lacked in delicacy and authenticity. Good atmosphere and attentive staff.
Location was easy to get to. The service was great. Our server gave us lots of recommendations on drinks and appetizers and they were all good. The entrees were delicious. We ordered the macadamia crusted mahi mahi, which was amazing. The Filet mignon was delicious as well, though it came out more medium rather than the medium rare that we had ordered. The only tiny complaint would be the wait time for our food was kind of long. But overall a pleasurable dining experience.
Excellent restaurant, near the Fairmont hotel. Get one of the tables just on the inside of the window to have the best views and most comfort. The baby back ribs are excellent.
went with a friend for happy hour, a little pricey. food and drinks were very good.
I couldn't quite bring myself to give this place 5 stars. the vibe and service was very good :) we came right at opening and our food came out fast ! We got the fish tacos and the ahi bowl. The fish tacos were accompanied by plantians in a custard which was really yummy ! I have to say the Ahi bowl was good but there was a lot of sauce and it was a little salty.
Great drinks, staff and food!!
OMG!!! The food and service is outstanding!! Our wait staff was amazing and had a great sense of humor!! I would definitely recommend going to Tommy Babama's!
Good food , great staff's.
Food was good service was ok but not great
Great food great service will go again!
We normally always have great service. Food is always great. However on the evening of 8/10/19 the service was absolutely pathetic. If it wasnt for the great food this would be a 1 star. Had to ask the server (Marlo) several times for bread. He couldnt even refill drinks without us begging for refills. We are regulars. However when we return if we are seated in his section we will let it be known to reseat us or we will leave. Horrible server.
Always yummy! Have the Pina Colada cake and Key Lime pie for dessert!
Great food and great service.
We went here for happy hour a big sign out front saying happy hour 3to5 it was 4 pm. Three girls at the reception they say us next to a toddler in a 25%full place I asked you move outside that had many empty tables, the girl had to go check if this was ok. They moved us out outside the menu they eventually brought had no happy hour menu. So we had to move again, the manager then came and tried to say it was out fault we didn't ask for the happy hour at the front desk! she suggested I raised my voice at her ! She was lucky I was in a mellow mood ! I should have reminded her that we were the customers and their guests! We should not have to ask for the menu they advertise outside their door
To the staff and crew of Tommy B's, Thank you for taking care of me and my ohana for over a decade. Wonderful place to go with a great and attentive staff. Great for fun occasions.
Favorite restaurant on the island! The atmosphere is amazing and the food is just as amazing as well!!
We enjoyed the coconut shrimp, duo of dips and Wagyu burger. All were very tasty, but the best part was an amuse bouche which they added to our enjoyment. Bread is available for no extra charge and comes in an an unusual shape with a cinnamon ginger butter. Service is great, ambiance very nice with the option of eating out on an ocean-view patio. We went at 11 when they first opened and there was no trouble getting seating right away. It did fill up as the noon hour approached. The Pain Chiller (non alcoholic pineapple drink) was way too tasty as was the iced tea. Pricey, yes, but altogether worth experiencing.
Very tasty food, great service, busy put not rushed, good waitor Shawn...TLR
Very very good. If you are close get lunch or dinner here.
Good menu with great food choices from gluten free and vegetarian to meat eaters delight. Great service
Overpriced for what it is. Average food with an average ambiance.
Yummy food awesome service
Super friendly and attentive staff, the food was Ono (delicious)! The location is beautiful. Overall a very pleasant dinning experience.
I was sadly disappointed The food was ok but not great according to all the hype The other short comming is the lack of premium liquors in this supposedly high class bar Just overpriced cheap well liquor The service was the only thing that was excellent And very overpriced
Great place, top notch food, good People!
The food is consistently amazing and the wait staff is top-notch! We love this place. We are staying at the resort next door but always end up here at least every couple of days for a delicious meal
Crab cakes are out of this world. No filler in them so they are sweet and delicate. Mains are on the expensive side, but worth it. Good place for a treat.
It was a long wait to get seated, but once we were at the table we received stellar service from Shelby. The food was delicious. Good place for kids. Strongly recommend reservations so you don't have a long wait, especially with a little one in tow.
I have a food allergy and they handled it flawlessly. This was the best service experience I've had in years!
Fabulous food and the best service anywhere
Today is our 25th Wedding Anniversary and Tommy Bahama Restaurant made our day a great finishing touch. The service and staff are excellent. Mahi mahi was delicious. Maybe see ya on our 50th. Thanks you guys.
A little pricey but good food the filet mignon pita bread under appetizers was fair price under $20.
Great food and, this time, great service with at proper delay between appetizer and main course
The food is so delicious here. It is well worth it the cost. We also had an excellent waitress who helped me find the right food for my food allergy.
Fish & chips! The yucca fries are the best fries on island! The manager is outstanding and the staff is fun!
Amazing food but portions are a bit small.
Great location for lunch and dinner, clean and very nice staff. Marlo are waiter was top notch! The food was outstanding and large portions. Simply amazing restaurant we will be back:)
Good lunch dishes, plenty of food, good service. You'll really enjoy eating here.
Couldn't have asked for a better lunch, the prime rib sandwich was delicious! As well as the Thai stir-fry. The service was five star and love you wonderful definitely going to go back! Aloha and mahalo
1 St time there, the food was very good service was good , had a nice experience... I give it 4 stars only because it seems a little pricey
Love the scallops sliders. Music Was a little sleepy. Good wine good service. Disappointed w/ salad w/2 dried blueberries, lemon vinaigrette. 3 hostesses too busy talking w/ea other & looking at computer to look up & greet.
Amazing food and beautiful sunset view
The servers were beyond amazing and everything we ate was delicious. Wonderful experience!
Awesome fish tacos!
Best lunch I had in the Island! I will definately come back next time Im in town.
Good as always. Live music and a great sunset!
Food poisoning 10/23.
After a day at the most beautiful beach in the US, Tommy Bahama provides an incredible and welcoming reprieve from the sun. The staff was so kind, and helpful, amid a backdrop of live music by 9 time emmy winner, Larry Seyar, all our troubles melted away. The cuisine was amazing, and the wildlife exhibit was small but charming.
Had a nice lunch. Good food. A bit slow but friendly service.
Service was the best!! Food was the best!! Best in Hawaii that we went to!!
Great food and great service. Faith, our server, is a consumate professional. We had grilled fish and it was very good. Yes it is expensive but kind of what you would expect in Hawaii. The food and excellent service was definitely worth the price.
Excellent food, good service, ambiance.
Delicious food and wonderful, creative cocktails.
Great every time we go here. The food is very good and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Fantastic pupus and love the drinks. Great bartenders.
This was by far the worst experience I have had in a restaurant bar none First we made the reservation with a specific server and the server was not there the night we made a Reservation. We were never informed in advance. The server We had was the most disrespectful nasty server I have ever had. We were asking her about the selections on the menu and when we said we did not like the preparation. She stormed away and a few Minutes later another server came by told us the original server could Not deal with us. The general manager then told us that he was trying to make us happy. I did not realize there was a problem. Instead of making the situation better, the manager made it worse. We have eaten in this restaurant ever since it opened when we come to Hawaii. The manager basically said that he did not care that we were not coming back. I have recommended dozens of people to eat at Tommy Bahamas and you can be assured I will never recommend anyone again. I have never been treated so disrespectivly at a restaurant. A horrible place. Don't ruin your vacation by going there
Tommy is always awesome service and food. JoAnn was the best waitress I ever had. Thank you.
Great food, best service on the Island
Amazing cocktails and desserts
Went here two nights while staying in Mauna Lani, both times the service was very attentive and the food was fantastic! Our waitresses were very knowledgeable and helpful about things to do on the island and I definitely recommend the crab cakes! Was probably my favorite restaurant we went to during our trip.
Wow... This was more of an experience than I had expected. The intention was to go in for one cocktail and leave. Instead we got this great server name Franklin who was excellent and it turned into an afternoon of crab cakes, seared scallops sliders and world famous coconut shrimp. The drinks were killer as well which included key lime martini, basil and grapefruit martini along with a cucumber muddled gin and to round it out a perfectly dry martini with grey goose and green olives stuffed with blue cheese. All this while my son had an ice cream sundae which he thoroughly enjoyed. What a great experience when all you had planned to do was come in for one cocktail and instead had great service from a great server name Franklin and great food and drinks to go along with it. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and drink. The pork chops were fantastic. Ono was great. Mahi was wonderful.
Excellent meal, terrific service, laid back atmosphere. Make sure you secure a reservation, especially on Friday night, as it's a popular place.
Good food and service, excellent Mai Tai, two thumbs up
Consistently good food. Been here several times and the service/food is always great!
Great wedge salad and Big Rig beer. Spilled three other drinks and they bought us a beer. Shelby our server was great!
The quality of the food here was excellent, but the in part the execution and service were completely inept. Management in both the kitchen and front front of the house needs to be replaced. We made a reservation for 11 people for dinner several days in advance. The restaurant was extremely crowded, and we waited over 20 minutes for our table, which was far too small for our group: all of our chairs were pressed against each other. Despite this, it was impossible to hear our table-mates other than those people we were seated next to or across from because the restaurant was so very loud. The server had to shout to be heard. After we ordered, a few of us wanted another round of drinks, but didn't get the opportunity to order them. Our appetizers arrived. The macadamia-nut crusted goat cheese was nice; the dips were tasty but not worth the price; the asparagus was good but several spears lacked dressing and seasoning. The bread was undercooked and doughy inside. No one came to clear our table after the appetizers, so when dinner arrived, there was nowhere to put the plates. We shoved things aside as best we could. Plates were dropped haphazardly as if the runners didn't know who'd ordered what or which direction a plate should be placed (psst: protein toward the diner!). My 11-year-old daughter had ordered the ahi taco appetizer. When she thought the server had asked if she wanted two tacos, she said yes. He instead brought her two orders of four tacos each. Utterly ridiculous—but because the restaurant was so loud, I had no idea that she'd mis-ordered (if she did) even though she was sitting across from me. What server assumes a child is authorized to order two portions of something? Both the steaks our party ordered were badly overcooked, medium well instead of medium rare. My husband sent his back. A new steak arrived only a few minutes later; the server told us they'd "stolen" it from another table. But this one was cooked well-done. My husband sent it back again. After awhile (the appropriate amount of time to recook the steak), he got another plate; this one was perfect. The steak was incredibly delicious. We had to ask several times for my sister-in-law's Caesar salad, but finally we had all been served our meals. Aside from my brother's overcooked steak, which he chose not to send back, everything was terrific. My mac-nut crusted Mahi Mahi was wonderful, though the plate was a bit austere. My daughter's tacos were great, the shrimp and ramen dish was great. The food was high-quality and fresh. It started getting less fresh as our plates lingered on the table, uncleared, even after some of our party stepped out for air. Clearing was even less professional than the entree service. Staff stacked plates up their arms as if they worked at a diner, spilling large lumps of food on the table and failing to return to clean it up. A few plates, like mine, just stayed on the table despite my parked silverware. Bread plates and extra silver were never cleared while we remained at the table. Even if we'd wanted dessert, the unappetizing remnants of our meal would have discouraged us. When our waiter brought the check, handing it to me instead of the person who'd asked for it—ostensibly she was too far away to reach, from across the table, but of course she wasn't—he apologized again for my husband's steak and said they'd taken it off the bill. (I wouldn't have expected this; he finally did get a well-prepared meal and ate it all.) But in perusing the check, I found that this wasn't correct. Three orders of the filet had been entered, but only two removed. I pointed this out to the server and he fixed it. I didn't expect the steak to be comped, but if you say you're going to comp it, you should in fact do that. Both the kitchen and the front of the house failed in some of the most simple, easy-to-avoid ways. The restaurant should not overbook; having more guests than you can accommodate detracts from everyone's experience. You have a name to live up to. Get it right.
Had dinner with family (8 of us) while staying at Hilton’s King’s Land timeshares. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had swordfish, ahi tacos, crab cakes, shrimp pasta, chicken , fillets and I had a delicious ribeye. Cocktails were creative and delicious and the coconut cake was wonderful.
Great food as always. And very good service.
I held high hopes for this location as I've had good experiences at other locales... the primary issue for me and many of the other diners in our rather large party was that our food was over-salted. I had the bisque and a fish entree and both were much too salty. The only saving grace for me was a $10 coupon I received for buying a shirt downstairs at the store. The prices are reasonable for a resort but someone needs to taste the dishes being served. Call me disappointed.
My husband and I had one of our BEST dinners in a very long time. If I could give a 10 Star, it would apply to the dinner and service we recieved tonight. From the initiation of our reservation, to paying our bill, the experience with Tommy Bahamas was excellent. They food was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Every detail was handled perfectly. A sincere thank you to Tommy Bahamas for a fabulous dinner, with top notch customer satisfaction.
My favourite restaurant at Waikiki beach. Ate here twice, fish tacos and mahi-mahi with ginger & cilantro and both were amazing Very good and fresh food, a bit pricey, but so worth it.
The food here was much better than some of the restaurants around this area. Ordered the salad and burger. Salad was flavorful and the burger was made just right. Fries were nice and crispy. Also had the coconut shrimp, but I wish the portion was larger for what it was. I'd definitely come back if I ever get the chance. Bathrooms available.
Food and service was excellent. We always enjoy eating at Tommy Bahama Restaurant.
Great food and Service from Susan was extraordinary!!!
Always a pleasure to eat here. Food food and great service. A little loud on busy nights but who am I to complain about people enjoying themselves. All around good times. Mahalo Tommy!
The food is great! I love the ambiance and upscale coastal decor. Top picks on the menu: lobster bisque, filet mignon salad and the pulled pork sandwich.
Quick & fun stop for my husband & I. Our bartender “Peggy” made us crave to return. The wine was higher quality than we’ve been finding. We only learned that because of Peggie’s hospitality. The other servers we encountered were friendly but Peggy took the cake. She charmed us & we will be back for sure!
Very good food, service and menu. All of our entrees were well prepared and flavorful! We will try them again. Desserts were the best on the island.
Oh my food was excellent and the staff was very professional wonderful dining experience. Will definitely visit again
Delicious food, perfect drinks, great customer service! Fish/stake tacos delicious, my frozen margarita was perfect, good amount of tequila and not too sweet! Good wifi! The crab cakes a bit too salty for my taste, but great flavour!
Great food, atmosphere and service.
Tasty cocktails, friendly service. Mahalo
Foods are delicious and we had very good service.
Very good dinner. I+!
This is a super place! Food is outstanding with the staff very friendly! The views, and the great atmosphere was very special!
Great very helpful customer service!
Chefs choice was a nice surprise! The shrimp alfredo was great!
Place is in a good location for lunch! Really impressive staff! Fair prices! And really fresh and good food!
Absolutely fabulous food. Try the fish tacos or the Thai scallops and shrimp. Friendly service. A must if you are near Waikoloa on the Big Island.
Delicious food but we were sweating bullets waiting for our group. No air conditioning
Our service was excellent. Holly was great and offered great suggestions. We had blackened Mahi tacos, steak tacos and dessert was pineapple creme bruele. Mai Tai was very good.
Great drinks and atmosphere. Good place to meet friends
Try out Adobo braised pork shank! We loved it and ordered several days in a row.
Hands down best place to eat and drink on the island. Not the fancy highend restaurant but quality of food is comparable, prices are reasonable, happy hour is a bonus, and staff are the most amazing. I go back again and again because I know what I m getting there as far as food, drinks , service and quality.
We’ve always had a good meal here, and excellent service. The filet mignon was cooked a perfect medium rare and was buttery. It was thick and well flavored, plus it was so tender I was able to cut it with my fork (literally) We would highly recommend...
Best value restaurant in Maunalani
A bit pricey but food was awesome. They also have a store which was also pricey.
Wonderful customer service and food!
Great food, fun family atmosphere. It's a go to place for Mauna Lani
Very impressed with both their service and their food quality. Our server Faith made us feel welcomed and patiently walked us through the menu to find the perfect meal: Highly recommend both their Thai Shrimp & Scallops (the Thai sauce is full of flavor) & Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Catch (tonight was Mahi Mahi and yes it was fresh!). Loved their grilled asparagus too.
Amazing we just love this place. So full of Aloha!)) The manger is very friendly and Beth the server is A++ Send it !!!!)))
Good food, good service- mahalo Nancy! I would eat here again.
Excellent place to eat. We have eaten here several times. The food and service is always top notch. Plus they have an excellent bar and mix up great cocktails. The atmosphere is also very nice.
The Macadamian Nut Crusted Catch of the Day is enough to share. The Baby Back Ribs are very good. Save room for dessert. Service is excellent. Highly recommend to everyone.
Love this spot. Amazing views, great service!
Very good food. Excellent service. A fun place.
Good food and great service. We have eaten at several places during our stay here and this restaurant by far is the best. Thank God you guys were here or I would have gone nuts. The so called high end restaurants around here suck. You guys were a life saver. Really enjoyed everything. Cline and Denise Davis raving fans...
Happy hour sliders used to be the best but then they stopped putting bacon on them. Seared ono special is damn tasty
Soooo apparently they also have restaurants. I was under the impression that Tommy Bahama was just a clothing line. You can never go wrong with ordering the catch of the day. Most of my group ordered fish dishes and they were amazing. The steak was also delicious and huge. Great upscale island decor. Decent wine list, amazing dessert selection. I highly recommend the pineapple creme brûlée. Great service.
Really good selection - a bit pricey for what you get or what you would expect. All the food was on point. The staff was very professional and very friendly. The location has a good mix of both indoor and outdoor seating. It was an enjoyable experience, but I don't think that I would go there again, if there were any other better option on the table. That's not a critic, but just a way of saying that there wasn't anything special or specific about it that would stand out in my mind.
Pricey. Good tastes, finally got a piña colada in Hawaii state (I don't know, Kauai didn't have them anywhere so thank you, Big Island). Expect loud noises, don't expect to hear people at your table unless you're sitting outside.
World famous coconut shrimp and you have to try the Pain Killer cocktail.
Excellent drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts! I love the Macadamia Nut Chicken...enough for two and the Peanut Butter Pie with pretzel crust is to die for...even though I was pretty full, I had to have some Our waitress was excellent! This on our last night before going home. Great way to end our trip!
Best gluten free menu we found on our trip. Their duo dips were really good and our waitress was absolutely lovely. she was born and raised in Hilo and was really kind to us, sharing some of her experiences around the island
Best meal of the trip. Salmon was super tender, best I can remember.
A little pricey for the food but always good. When I was there during lunch, it seemed most people were getting appetizers for their meals which would make since because of the cost.
Great food and service. Wonderful atmosphere.
Amazing food. Better service. Gorgeous Lanai to watch the day or the sunset.
We came here for dinner during our current trip to the big island. The restaurant is very much decorated in the Tommy Bahama theme, which we like very much. We came here during happy hour, which is from 4-6pm, and there were a selection of wines and appetizers for $10. I ordered the cheeseburger sliders and poké as my meal. My wife ordered blue crab bisque, macadamia crusted fish (mahi mahi today), and soon ordered steak medallions from the kids menu. They also brought out fresh bread and butter, which was hot and tasty. First the good: the bisque was very good, full of flavor. Unfortunately that was it, as the rest of the dishes were ordinary. Even the steak medallions was not very good. Service was good, good atmosphere, but the food does not justify the high prices.
Such good food and service!!! I would highly recommend this place, especially for travelers. Loved every part.
Everything was great. Get the coconut shrimp all the salads were good. Unfortunately the fish was over cooked. The service was also excellent
Excellent food and the service was tremendous!!!
This was our first time eating here, despite living on island. I have to say, this is hands-down the best service we've received at any restaurant. The wait staff was super friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious. They have vegetarian options which is a plus for me, but if you are looking for 100% whole food plant based then your choices are limited. (Why do most restaurants feel the need to include cheese and butter in everything?) My husband absolutely loved his wagyu burger. The only disappointing thing and the reason I didn't give five stars is that they do not offer a kama'aina discount and the menu is relatively pricey. We didn't ask the reasoning behind it, but our server explained that it's because the store downstairs will quite often offer promotions such as spend $150 and get a free appetizer. That doesn't really make sense to me, because what locals shop at that store and spend that kind of money?
I love this store. Not for the budget minded but worth treating yourself whenever you get the chance and can afford. Everyone deserves it.
We love it here! We have come to Hawaii at least twice a year for the past 10 years and this place we always stop at at least once. Their food and service never disappoints and everything is so fresh. I highly recommend!
This was my first time here in a couple years, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great food and service. All of our entrees were delicious, as well as the appetizers. The food was hot, tender, and flavorful. And the service was great! The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Higher prices, but for a special occasion or nice dinner out, it's comparable.
Great experience! We stopped for dinner after a long day on the beach. It was the first restaurant on Big Island were server was so attentive and stuff as well.Dinner was delicious, kid's food as well, delicious desert and beverage.Pricey but worth it. Will recomand this restaurant to friends as well!
A nice resort restaurant. Good place for happy hour pupus & drinks.
Amazing food with great service, had a very good pork sandwich.
Great service and perfect atmosphere.
Great staff. Service was fantastic
Interesting drink menu, good happy hour, difficult seating at times but great service!
We had a spectacular experience. Our server was fabulous and quite funny. The hostesses were very accommodating as well. We enjoyed everything!
Great food! Drink selection and wine list very good, drinks are in the medium price range for the island.
Over priced for the quality of food, great service, little birds and constantly swatting flies from food
Not just sunglasses and flower shirts, this location has an excellent restaurant with modern takes on local dishes. Great drinks and excellent views of the sunset from the patio. Would highly recommend the scallop sliders and the pineapple creambrule is a must.
Great location. Awesome service and friendly staff. Food is great!
Happy hour is great. Was kind of surprised, however. Our server absolutely reeked of cigarettes to the point where you could taste it. Kind of surprising given the restaurant setting. We didn't want to ask for another server but maybe others would. Good food though.
Just finished dinner with friends. Excellent food, Dawn our amazing server suggested Mac Nut Mahi Mahi, mouth watering, fantastic. Scallops were insane. Mahalo Dawn for your beautiful aloha spirit.
Had the opportunity to visit here with my Mother and we sat on the veranda or Lanai and I can tell you that it was an exceptional experience, great beverages anf excellent food. I had the Wonton Tacos with Ahi. Quite an enjoyable experience... laid-back casual. Kind of bummed that they still don't have the deal where if you were wearing the Tommy Bahama shirt you got like a free beer or something okay maybe that wasn't the deal.
I've pass this place up a few years in a row. I'm glad I decided to stop in and try them out. Ahi tacos were delicious, view was nice and staff efficient and friendly.
Very strong and nasty artificial scent at the entrance, made me want to leave, and I couldn't get away from it while waiting to be seated. Due to the restaurant being a huge open room, it was extremely noisy, and we were seated with direct sunlight in people's faces. Drinks don't list everything in them - the "lemonade" has sparkling water which I can't drink, and the 4 blueberries in it were previously frozen, so unpleasant texture and no flavor. The view was nice, and good live music, but I wouldn't go back.
Always enjoy dinner or lunch whenever we go
The BBQ pork sandwich was delicious
Loved their take on Mac nut crusted Mahi Mahi
Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Save room for dessert pineapple creme brulee!
Love the restaurant. My #1 go-to.
Food, great! Service great! Saturday night singer, Awesome! Drinks, great! Ambiance lively! First time I've been there with the window closed, it was pouring rain. Good to know.
Excellent service. Our poke' was roo spicy and our waiter took it back, the chef corrected it. Wonderful!
Great s ppl ot for a drink abd a meal
Always go here for Happy Hour and my friends work here
Excellent service, professional staff, amazing drinks and food! Worth your time, but do dress up, otherwise you will feel a little out of place.
High prices but definitely worth it. Some of the best food on the island i’ve had. Also our waiter was the nicest waiter i’ve ever had. If you’re on the big island thus place should be on your list of places to eat! So good!
Quality food. Fantastic service. Great view. Alex our server was top notch. Jason Grant the restaurant manager assured our experience was top notch. Here from Ohio for a week. My best meal on the Big Island thus far.
Wonderful service. Mac crusted mahi mahi was excellent
