One of the most overrated place I've ever been to. The cashier was rude and unfriendly. The food was definitely not worth the wait, especially for this price. I mean, they are tacos... not that different from other taco places, only much more expensive.

It's a restaurant in Waikiki which means you will pay $14 for a decent meal. But of all the decent meals in Waikiki, this is one of me favorites. I recommend trying the calamari!

18Aug19. The wait was minimal. The waitress with the accent was awesome. I ordered the fried shrimp appetizer and the fish and fries. The seven fried shrimp were hot and fresh. The tarter sauce was great. The 4 pieces of fish were fried just right and the fries were good but could have been better if they weren't shoestring fries, which became hard as they got cold.

Ordered fish tacos and my partner had the Mahi burger. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Both dishes were very flavourful, especially the Cajun rice and slaw that was served with the tacos. Can't wait to come back to try some of the other menu items.

Right up there with the best fish you’ve ever had... Paia fish market is delicious and one of the best values in Waikiki. Go there, you won’t be sorry! It’s a quick order, quick service, but the food is amazing. We got the fish plate with home fries and coleslaw and split it for 2 adults. The fish is fresh, we liked the opah best. Also these guys know tarter sauce, and the coleslaw is based on their tarter sauce! Great experience. Great staff. Also, on Monday (possibly other days?) a taco and beer is $7.

Seafood chef's salad was terrific. Good portion of quality fish and of real greens, not flavorless iceberg or pedestrian romaine. Reasonable price and fast, friendly service (granted, it wasn't extremely busy when I ate there). The grilled One I chose with the salad was well prepared also. Moist, fully cooked but not overcooked, fresh grilled flavor not overwhelmed by marinade or seasoning. Great experience.

Lunch plate comes with salad and I don't really care for it had some kind of ranch sauce, fries were way too salty, rice was below average, and the homemade fries were not to my liking, salmon was eh but the snapper grilled was really good. Over $50 for 2 people not including tip. Only reason it's 3 stars and not 2 is because the snapper was delicious

The fish is fresh and the prices are ok. I didn’t care for the fish tacos (strange how they mix two types of fish and it’s kind of minced rather than in chunks) and the buns for the burgers and fish sandwiches are too soft. Just makes a mess. Burger also over cooked but what else is new. Good taste at least. A bit small. Pasta bowl looked very good. The concept is also a bit confusing as far as ordering at the counter and whether or not to leave your things at the table and save it or whatever. Its not a bad plate of fish for $25 I guess given the prices nearby. Not a bad choice overall but I probably won’t go back for a while except to try that pasta.

This is a place where you order at the counter, get a number tent, and have your food brought to your table when it is ready. Sodas are self service. In addition to the printed fish choices, there may be others; I selected the opakapaka. The fish was very tasty, but I think it came grilled, whereas I requested it be sauteed. (There are several options, including Cajun and blackened as well.). Most of the plate was occupied by coleslaw, OK if you like it. It's busy, but a large dining room, so not too hard to find a table. I would go there again, but I would order differently. There are a couple of choices for vegetarians, BTW.

Awesome food. This food is so fresh and clean. The fish at Paia is so delicious it has great flavor. The way they mix rice, potatoes, and all the ingredients makes it pop. They have a good size menu and they do great at what they offer. Their coleslaw is so unique I didn't know what to expect but it is crisp and fresh tasting not heavy like other coleslaw. Find it up some stairs by the international market.

I had a giant opah fillet, sautéed in butter and garlic, on top of a bed of home-fried potatoes and grilled onions. I also had their mixed green salad, a quesadilla appetizer, and a Maui Brewing Company draft IPA. The food was delicious, and the portions were enormous. This is a family-style restaurant, and the atmosphere is very informal and comfortable. This is my first time at this restaurant, and I will definitely be coming back.

If you're in the mood for fish, this is the place. A little pricey for counter service but incredibly large portions. Opah is thick and juicy. Opakapaka (pink snapper) is firm. $55 for 2 people for dinner with no drinks.

Blew my mind how good fish tacos could be! So I wasn't really a fan of their menu by just looking at it. Figured ehhh, you can get food on their menu back home in California...there's nothing special or Hawaiian about this place. We try to get authentic Hawaiian good when we're there you know? Anyways, my husband goes "no, we have to stop by here." We we're headed to another restaurant but on our way we saw this spot and it was almost like fate cause our original spot was still a 15 minute walk away. And so my husband got what he wanted! There was a good amount of people there for a weekday evening. Many of them tourists. They have a little patio area in the front and tons of seating inside. We go in and order the fish tacos and they gave us a number and we decided to sit outside on the patio. So yes, seat yourself seating like many places on the island. We waited quite a bit...about 25 minutes for the fish tacos (2) with half and half, potatoes and rice. When the food finally showed up, it looked like a lot of lettuce up top and barely any fish meat. But once we took our first bites...we realized there's an abundant amount of white fish and it tasted so fresh! I was surprised it was that yummy! Perfect for two people! And the rice was also great! Try the tiger sauce, they have it on the tables!

Although we had a positive experience for the most part, toward the end of our meal we felt pressured to “hurry” and finish our meal to make room for new customers. We felt this pressure from both our waitress and the new customers. It was then made worse by the fact that after we were literally asked “are you almost done” by our waitress, she then “forgot” about us after taking my credit card and after we asked for a to-go box (we had to sit there awkwardly while waiting quite awhile for the to-go box for my 4 year old daughters leftovers and also to sign our bill, ALL of this while the new customer were halfway seated at our table and waiting for us to leave so they could fit the rest of their party). The food was fine, if not a bit pricey, but this left a bad taste in our mouths. Oh, and the French fries are pretty bad.

Paia Fish Market...here's a tip for you all, skip the entrees and go for the salad. You get just as much fish and some shrimp for a significant cost reduction. Like everyone else notes, their fish is great! I was a little skeptical when my friends suggested eating here but I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is limited, but I think that allows them to specialize and focus on quality. Often times restaurants have large menus that don't have a focus in order to please everyone, and that makes the quality of the food suffer. Out of our group of 5, everyone loved their meal and said they would be willing to return. Staff was helpful and super friendly. Our one waitress may have been having a bad day...she would just take our plates without asking and we found that to be very odd. If you're staying at the Laylow (you should!), it's down the escalators and to the left.

Went back twice for their seafood chowder and fish tacos which were outstanding. This time I tried the seafood bowl which was on the expensive side. However it was worth every penny. Loaded with shrimp schalops, fish chunks lots of noodles and yummy sauce and cheese. There was so much I couldn't finish it and took it back home for a second meal. For two meals it was a great price and I'll go again.

Fantastic place for a meal and reasonable prices considering you're right in the middle of Honolulu. Someone had recommended doing the seafood green salad and picking a fish and I'm glad I listened. Huge salad with nice tasting dressing plus my fish of choice. Only marking down one star because both times they had been running out of certain fish that night.

I was super excited to see this place come to Oahu. I made sure it was on the list of places to eat when I go island hopping to Maui. The plates are large! You could almost split a plate between 2 people. I frequent the place for the taco and beer for $7. Delicious taco and a craft local beer for $7. It's like you're getting the taco for free! Fish tacos are delicious...

You order your food at counter and then you ar given a number to take to your table. A staff member brings the food to your table. Silverware, condiments, and napkins are at the table. The fish was good asbwell as the sides that come with. Unfortunately, they overcook the fish. There's probably better places that can cook the fish a little better for the price.

Shrimp and fish tacos were very good, and overall a great place for Waikiki, I would of liked to try the fish plate but unfortunately was way too pricey at 22 bucks for lunch. Suggestion is serve a smaller piece of fish and drop the price to 13-15 to cater for Lunch crowd.

It was so good that I had my dinner here for three straight days. I tried the garlic salmon , blackened snapper and the Cajun onu. Everything was amazing. I've been enjoying Paia fish market since its debut on Maui...watched the growing business expansion to Kehei and Lahaina...great consistency! So, I had to go to the Waikiki location and let me tell you...they deliver! The staff is amazing and the food is fantastic. I notice the little idiocincracies but nobody else can...just do it if you like fresh fish.

Others got the fish tacos and they all really enjoyed it we really had a pleasant time at this place with a group of six people. you order from the counter and then go sit down and then they bring out the food. Truely a diamond in the rough. May not be fancy on the outside but the food inside is some of the Best you will ever have. The portions are large and the dishes are some of the best in Honolulu. The Ono was moist and flavorful and the seafood salad was more quality seafood than pasta. Plus the prices were suprisingly reasonable. A must if you visit Honolulu.

There were 5 of us. We ordered together but our meals arrived at different times and two of us were almost finished before the last meal arrived. I had fish and chips. The fish was dry and rubbery - really not good at all. And half of the plate was coleslaw. Half of the plate ! The other meals ranged from fair to excellent. There are better options all over Waikiki.

It’s pretty much a Hawaiian version of California Fish Grill (for those who get it). Had the Mahi Cajun Sandwich and Seafood Pasta and they were pretty good. It wasn’t anything out of this world, but I’d still recommend it. Portions are huge and prices are decent, except the seafood pasta is a cool $22.
