Fair warning — four stars while in Maui is probably three stars if you are from a food-focused region when it on vacation. Having said that, this local chain serves up fresh fish with nice options and doesn’t try to get too ambitious on the preparation — so, when executed well, it’s a satisfying meal. There is some variability in our experience in the consistency of the prep, for example with some grilled fish approaching fossilized status, and other plates coming out perfectly moist and seared. Easily forgotten when on vacation. Mahalo, four stars!

This place is part of the small outdoor market area. Does a parking lot in the back of the parking spaces are kind of small. Everything that we ordered was very fresh and tasty. There are few long tables outside but the area shaded. I keep the area very clean so it's easy to eat there. I have beer which goes well with the fish.

As far as I'm concerned, this is an absolute must-try. The food is delicious, the fish is fresh and it's in a great location with a nice view of the ocean. It's been my favorite meal since landing in Maui, and in spite of all the other choices of places to eat, and the fact that there are only so many meals we'll get to try in our 7 days here, we are planning to go again. Absolutely wonderful.

Ate here 3 times on a recent trip to Maui because it was so good. Had the fish and chips, fish tacos and the Opah entree, and each one was delicious. Fast (though the line gets long if you come during peak dinner hours), fresh and tasty. Perfect post-beach fare.

Ambience: casual hut with outdoor picnic table seating only. It's fast casual (order from counter but waiter brings out the food to you)Food: the local fresh fish is the most popular item and it's good. The standout is the onion rings, sweet Maui onions in perfectly battered crunch. Skin the clam chowder, that was a disappointingly thin and watery soup, even though there was a lot of clams.

Ate at the original market in Paia 9 years ago and am glad they expanded to Kihei and Lahaina. Great fish tacos, calamari, fried shrimp, and fish and chips. Ate here several times before we left Maui.. If I did not like the fish tacos so much, the grilled fresh fish looked really good. The clam chowder was the only thing I was not crazy about as it was more of a broth than a cream-base that I am used to.

Busy for a reason! Expect to wait 20-30 minutes to place your order. Understand that there is a reason for this - the food is phenomenal and fresh. This isn’t your typical sit down restaurant, you order at the counter and find a seat and wait for your food. The food portions are huge and the fish is fresh and affordable.

Paia Fish Market was a decent meal. I thought my blackened Mahi Mahi was decent, but not the best fish I've ever had. It went well with the sauce they gave me however. The potatoes were amazing. The rice was very mediocre. The coleslaw was bad, and nobody in my family ate all of it. Also, we did not have shaded seating until another table left, as there were two tables without an umbrella (the only ones available at first). All the shaded ones (which most tables were) were occupied. Our meals were over $20/person, and while good, they didn't live up to this price. We paid $90 for 4 people. However, most dishes are closer to $15/person. Overall, I thought this restaurant was okay, but I think you can find better in the area. 3 stars.

We ended up eating here twice since we loved it so much, once in Paia and once on the south side. Delicious fresh fish cooked perfectly. We ordered the plates with the cabbage, rice, potatoes and fish and it did not disappoint. I love the sauce that they make for dipping.

Best fish tacos ever. The line can be LONG and seating is limited but the food is so good that it's totally worth it. We went around 1:30 pm so we only had about a 10 minute wait. If you go at meal time expect to wait longer. Everyone in my group was pleased with their meal.

I was at this location 2 years ago an loved it. This is the one on the main strip in Kihei. This time I thought the food was a little greasy, had fish and chips and calamari strips. I think the grease needed changed. Don't let my review detour you from visiting, it has a great location, outdoor seating so you can people watch. First time was great, second was only so-so.

When you see a line outside, it either has really really good food or really really good marketing that fools the tourists. This place has really really good food. Perfectly cooked and seasoned fish, nice sides, friendly service, social seating. Just a tasty tasty meal that's worth the wait. Pro-tip: order the seafood salad - it's about $10 less than the market plate but you still get the huge piece of mahi or ono that you've come for.

The food was good. One of us had the fish tacos and the other had the calamari. Calamari was different from anything that we've ever had before but it was quite good as were the fish tacos. We found the prices to be a bit High. The place has zero atmosphere. It's just a grab and eat at the picnic benches type place. Considering that, I'm not sure that our lunch with one beer each should have come to 42 bucks plus tip but it did.

Maybe the best fish we had in a week on the island!! I highly recommend the Opa simply grilled - perfect amount of seasoning and amazing flavor from the fish! The mahi blacked was also tasty. In a group of 8 there wasn't a scrap left on any plate! Went for lunch, and we were so satisfied that we all pretty much skipped dinner. The staff was great too

The Lines can get very long here, maybe about 20. the wait can be maybe 15-20 minutes for the food so pick the right times. It is pricey to eat air for what you get and they do give you a good amount of food but you will definitely paying for it. If you go when they are not as busy the food will be better prepared. The servers are normally very friendly and tables could be clean better than expect a clean place.and of course since it's busy it does get a little hard to find a seat to sit down and eat so be prepared to take your food to go.

Okay, the customer service and vibe was fantastic. This seems to be a relatively popular place for both locals and tourist alike. I would totally hang out here for drinks and socializing. However, I was disappointed in the food taste which is why I gave it only three stars. The food service was super fast but completely lacked seasoning on multiple items my group ordered. I ordered the Cajun red snapper & seafood chowder and both were flavorless. Cooked perfect but lacked flavor. I didn't care for the Cajun rice either, but my friend liked it. I will say that the Calamari and red potatoes were a winner. This might be up your alley if you prefer "lighter" seasoned seafood. I however am accoustomed to the seafood delights of New Orleans style flavoring.

Okay, this is definitely not a fancy place, but boy, is the food outstanding! As you walk up, they will greet you with a menu, and then when you are ready, stroll inside and they will take your order, they give you a number and outside are several picnic tables, have a seat and wait for your glorious food to arrive. They offer several fresh fish choices, you choose a preparation (I suggest you ask what they think), you order sides, drinks (and what a beer list- and Draft!), they also have some apps and soups. What came to my table was heaven- I had the Blackened Opah- fresh, succulent and perfectly cooked, with fries and delicious cole slaw. My wife had the fish tacos. We were very happy with the quality and the freshness of the seafood! The staff were happy and friendly and definitely made me feel welcome. Love it! We will definitely be back!

So we could eat anywhere on the island and we ate here 4 times in a 5 day period. The fish is very, very fresh. How fresh, well we had to slap it to make it settle down so we could eat it! And that's fresh! Service is fast and friendly, and get this, they even remembered us from day-to-day. How pathetic are we! Prices aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for and that is great fish! (Of course someone in our group had to order the chicken!) Stop reading this review and go eat there!

Soooo good! Thankfully we found this spot our first night in Kihei. Today we ate at the original Paia location for lunch and then got dinner at the Kihei location. The fish pasta is the bomb! All the meals are big portions which helps with Maui prices. We ate leftovers the next day. Tacos are great, burger is awesome -fish or local beef, the Cole slaw is THE BEST.

We ended up here by happenstance after one of the fish taco trucks nearby was inexplicably closed one afternoon. Glad we did - tacos were delicious alongside the coleslaw and fries. Great flavor and came out piping hot. We came back the next day on our way to the airport. There is ample seating, 90% of which is in the shade, parking nearby and a little marketplace behind with public restrooms. We will probably keep coming back here! Perfect pit-stop after a morning at Big Beach.

First stop on my first trip to Hawaii. Nice intro to the people, beach, locals , tourists and cuisine. Absolutely no lie, some of the best fish, seared mahi, I have ever had. From what I can see everything is yummy. I had the snapper fajitas with a delightful homemade salsa, which was enough for two and my wife had the seafood salad which had shrimp and mahi mahi which was a perfectly grilled generous portion.

No local eats there. Many reviews are written by ‘local guide’. Ordered grilled Mahi Mahi and grilled Ono. It is edible, but dry and stiff, definitely not great. The home fries are soggy. Cajun rice is worse than any rice from Mediterranean/Asian/Mexican. I think this is a place for tourist who are looking for a convenience place to satisfy hunger. That’s all about it ..

Fish is fresh and delicious. Typically american fish and chips are just no good (compared to other countries). But this is the best fish and chip shop in the world (that I have been too).

Paia Fish Market features fresh seafood platters that are well worth the money and time to try it if your visiting Maui. We came here for dinner and all of us tried different fish to try em out. Each dish comes with a generously sized fish that will leave you feeling very full and satisfied -- it can also be shareable with two people. We ordered: Ono (blackened), Opakapaka (blackened), Ahi (sauteed) that comes with a side of coleslaw and [we all chose] the Cajun rice. I enjoyed my Opakapaka, and both blackened/sauteed versions were delicious. The winner of the night would have to be the Ahi! Would highly recommend-- however the portion itself is like the seafood version of a steak, so consider sharing. Out of all the seafood I’ve tried in my trip to Hawaii, I would say Paia was one of the best qualities and worth spending on. I would highly recommend! Ono!!

The food is wonderful! Delicious fish entrees made to order based on your preferences. I loved the grilled Mahi with fries. The portions are generous and you will not leave hungry. Seating is open air on picnic tables, with a nice breeze. The staff is friendly and willing answer any questions about the menu. Great value on Maui for fresh fish. Good vibe, right across from the park. Pro tip: you can get the fish tacos ala carte, in case you don't want any sides. The sides were good, though!

This place gives you exactly what you expect a nice variety of fish with the sides. It's not too expensive and good beer and wine list. They do you thru pretty fast but service is good.

Really nice service, but the food is bland and poorly spiced. Fennel seeds are a bizarre addition to an ahi burger, and I generally really enjoy fennel. Wish it could have been better!

Fish Market is ALWAYS great, over 20 years and has never let me down for fresh fish and reasonable prices. Favorites are fish tacos and fish salad. It's busy but the tables turn over quickly so it's worth the wait!

Amazing fish and chips! My only complaint is with the provided coleslaw. There was way too much sauce on it. It made it uneatable for us. Luckily the fish and chips was enough food alone. Would go again in a heartbeat.

This place has the best fish taco's ever. Actually the best taco's ever. Their portions are really good I'm 6'3 and 220lbs and it's plenty of food. The fish is very light and delicious tasting. Definitely will go there anytime I am in Maui

Great food however it's tough to find a seat sometimes. Had the seafood pasta here and it was amazing. Huge portion for the price with fresh ingredients. The scallops were amazing. The ahi tuna( blackened ) was also a great choice, melt in mouth!

Just as good as the other locations for this restaurant. Fresh fish of all kinds. Salads, sandwiches, delicious seasoned French fries. Friendly service. Also, great drink options and a good kids menu. What's not to like?!
