Located in the back of a market in Chinatown, Maguro Brothers is the very definition of "Hole in the Wall." You pretty much have to already know where it is to find it. It is well worth the search. Poke and sashimi served from fresh catches in Hawaiian waters and the flavor reflects that. They also serve a great pan-fried hamachi kama. This is the place to go to say you've had a local experience.

The fish is so fresh it literally melts in your mouth, the staff is friendly, and the food is very reasonably priced. So.Darn.Good. I've been to Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo and this is as close as you'll get to that in the US! These guys know what they're doing and their product is top quality. This is a no-frills little spot in the back of a local Chinatown market. It's crowded, noisy, and can get quite hot and humid, but you're not here for fine dining ambiance - you're here for LEGIT sashimi. Go for the Chu-toro don...you will not be sorry! And if you're a tourist, go early on in your trip - you will want to return ;)

I go in there with mom sometimes to do grocery and I never noticied it there. It's a small little place. Paul the Mayor of chinatown, has his special order! If you ever dine anywhere in chinatown make sure you're with him! You won't regret it! He knows all the in and out! I got a spicy tuna bowl with uni and man that UNI was soooooo good! Who doesn't love sashimi and uni? We shared some salmon belly and other stuff. It was mouth watering good!!!! I've been wanting to come back!

If you want super fresh fish and seafood as an upgrade from the mediocre foodland, this is the place to go. It’s restaurant quality at affordable price. It’s worth the extra money you spend! Super fresh and clean. I think you can ask for ceramic container instead of styrofoam.

This is a true hidden gem in Chinatown tucked back in a corner of the food vendors. Fresh fish and vegetables are all around the Maguro Brothers stall. The seating is just a few simple tables and stools, but the food is what you are here for. Get the grilled Salmon Belly and sticky rice, it melts like butter in your mouth. This dish is by far one of the most delicious I've ever had. The sashimi platter is also incredibly fresh, it's so well prepared and a definite favorite. Definitely would recommend to anyone who is looking for a quick bite while visiting nearby Pearl Harbor to stop by and get some. While you are at it, grab some fresh shrimp and vegetables from one of the other vendors.

Tucked in the back of the chinese market. We wanted to see if they were really all the hype. We ended up with the hawaiian ahi poke - it was good but not amazing, very fresh and unique though. The spice on it was a lingering heat but not overwhelming, I think that was my favorite. Expensive, but not a bad stop. However I'd probably only go again if I was already browsing Chinatown since the location is not easy to just swing by.

Why is this two brother doing inside a Chinatown produce market? I hope soon they will move closer to downtown, so the downtowner will have a chance to taste their awesome creation. I usually order the half ahi (tuna) and half hamachi. Hawaiian style (with seaweed) or spicy. The portion is smaller than Vegetable and Ahi (in Fort Street Mall) but the quality is great to compensate. I'm sure to come back with friends for this hole in wall gem. To the owner: From my observation while waiting for my food, I can see there is way to improve your efficiency for a quicker turn around. Just mount a web cam and watch yourself work for an hour. By just re-organizing the rice station, cutting station and POS can reduce cross path situation and gain efficiency. Sometimes downtowner can't wait that extra 5 minutes. Besides, they already spend an extra 15 minutes to walk down here. FYI. Vegetable and Ahi is down to 2 minutes wait. But to be fair, they have 8 people working in the kitchen. Here you have only three. The brothers and the lady.

Few things are certain in life - except for the quality of Maguro Brothers. I would 100% come back here to eat when in Honolulu again. Small and modest place located inside the Chinatown fish market. However some of the best sashimi and chirashi I've ever had. The price is worth it. Skip the linen napkin Michelin restaurants and come to this authentic place where the focus is on the quality of food not atmosphere.

First off, their service is great! I am a poke fanatic so when I tried this place out I was very skeptical. To my surprise? It was very satisfying. The fish is so soft which makes it taste so fresh. Nothing like "previously frozen" fish. The onion poke is plain but still yummy & the limu poke is spicy but not til the point where you need 3 glasses of water. Definitely revisiting for my poke fix.

Everything in this place is super fresh. When i ordered my poke bowl i watched as they carefully cut open the entire fish and placed freshly sliced pieces of hamachi onto a mixing bowl with sesame oil, seaweed and other goodies then onto my plate. It was easily one of the freshest and most delicous seafood meals I ever had.

My wife is the sushi connoisseur and she loved this tiny stall tucked amongst a bunch of raw meat & seafood vendors in Chinatown. They made my wife's sashimi plate only when she ordered it. Only about 4 small tables, so expect to take & eat elsewhere. There is a food court across the street with shared table seating where you can take out from here to chow down. Happy wife, happy life.

I passed by this place when I was shopping in Chinatown, and I decided to come back with my husband to try it. We ordered Hamachi Wasabe, the spicy ahi role. Even though the owners are busy cutting fish (they also do wholesale), they have the food ready within a short time. I love their style of poke, where you can enjoy the the fresh fish texture and taste, and at the same time not over marinated by the sauce. The spicy ahi role is surprisingly good, inside the role, they add a deep fired fish skin in the role, which adds taste and the cruchyness to the role.
